Channel measurement and communication module for the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge

Bergh, Fredrik, Andersson, Johan January 2011 (has links)
Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a hot topic in the intelligent transport system (ITS) area. The introduction of wireless communications between vehicles will enable many useful applications to enhance road traffic safety as well to increase efficiency. The standardization of IEEE 802.11p, being an amendment to IEEE 802.11 intended for VANETS, faces many challenges. In Europe a 30 MHz spectrum at 5.9 GHz have been dedicated for ITS and this spectrum has to be used to its full potential. For this reason this thesis compares a 20 MHz wide frequency channel with a 10 MHz wide through measurements using 802.11p hardware. The measurements were conducted on a highway with relative speeds of up to 240 km/h. The results from these initial measurements show that a 20 MHz channel does not perform worse than a 10 MHz channel despite the high relative speeds and large metal signs scattering the signals. What enabled this thesis to do the measurements was Halmstad University‟s participation in the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge (GCDC) 2011. In GCDC nine teams mostly from Europe competed in having the vehicle that had the best behaviour in a platoon of vehicles using cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC), the CACC algorithm controlled the vehicles‟ acceleration and breaking autonomously based on in-vehicle sensors and communicated messages between the vehicles in the platoon using 802.11p. This thesis implemented the communication part of Halmstad University‟s vehicle. The challenge was held in Helmond, Holland, May 14-15, 2011. Halmstad University‟s team finished in second place. / CoAct

"En skål för andras lidande" : Bildanalys av vinnarbilderna i World Press Photo of the Year mellan 1999-2008

Rodling, Emma, Ekman, Maria January 2010 (has links)
En undersökning av vinnarbilderna i World Press Photo of the Year mellan 1999-2008. World Press Photo of the Year under 2000-talet. Syftet har förgrenat sig i frågeställningarna: Vilka teman har vinnarbilderna i World Press Photo of the Year mellan 1999-2008? Vad förmedlar innehållet i bilderna?

Kroppsuppfattning och dess relation till tyngdlyftares och styrkelyftares upplevelse av att tävla i en viktklassidrott : En nationell enkätundersökning / Body image and its relation to weightlifters’ and powerlifters’ experience of competing in a weight class sport : A Swedish survey

Nyström, Lisa January 2023 (has links)
Body image affects our quality of life. In addition to performing in competition, weightlifters and powerlifters need to participate in a weigh-in, where their body weight determines which weight class they compete in. The purpose of the study was to investigate whether there was a relationship between lifters’ body image and experience of being active and competing in weightlifting and/or powerlifting. Method: 210 Swedish weightlifters and powerlifters with competition experience aged 15–70 years participated in the study. The participants responded to a digital questionnaire that included an instrument newly created by the author on the prevalence of behaviours and experiences of competing in a weight class sport, as well as the Body Esteem Scale for Adolescents and Adults. Results: Positive correlations of statistical significance and of moderate strength were found between body image and competition experience, as well as between body image and weight experience. Weak positive correlation was demonstrated between body image and weigh-in experience. 60 % of the participants reported positive body image and 40 % reported mixed/split or negative body image. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate a relationship between body image and experience of competing, experience of one's body weight and competing in weight class(es), as well as experience of weigh-ins. As 40 % of the population reported mixed/split or negative body image, the results indicate practical opportunities where athletes’ body image can be improved.

Lund, Arwid January 2015 (has links)
This study is about voluntary productive activities in digital networks and on digital platforms that often are described as pleasurable. The aim of the study is to relate the peer producers’ perceptions of their activities on a micro level in terms of play, game, work and labour, to their views on Wikipedia’s relation to capitalism on a macro level, to compare the identified ideological formations on both levels and how they relate to each other, and finally compare the identified ideological formations with contemporary Marxist theory on cognitive capitalism. The intention is to perform a critical evaluation of the economic role of peer production in society.Qualitative and semi-structured interviews with eight Wikipedians active within the Swedish language version of Wikipedia constitute the empirical base of the study together with one public lecture by a Wikipedian on the encyclopaedia and a selection of pages in the encyclopaedia that are text analysed. The transcribed interviews have been analysed using a version of ideological analysis as it has been developed by the Gothenburg School. The views on the peer producing activities on the micro level has been analysed in a dialectical way but is also grounded in a specific field model.Six ideological formations are identified in the empirical material. On the micro level: the peripheral, bottom-up- and top-down-formation, on the macro level: the Californian alikeness ideology, communism of capital and capitalism of communism. Communism of capital has two sides to it: one stresses the synergies and the other the conflicts between the two phenomena. The formations on the macro level conform broadly to contemporary Marxist theory, but there are important differences as well. The study results in a hypothesis that the critical side of communism of capital and the peripheral and bottom-up-formation could help to further a more sustainable capitalism of communism, and counteract a deeper integration of the top-down-formation with Californian alikeness ideology. The latter is the main risk of capitalist co-optation of the peer production that is underway as the manifestly dominant formations on the macro level are Californian alikeness ideology and communism of capital. / <p>©<strong> </strong>2015 Arwid Lund, used under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 3.0 license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/</p><p></p>
