Rova, Emmy January 2020 (has links)
The following study is a qualitative text analysis and an idea- and ideologyanalysis with the aim of examining the Sweden Democrats view on women over time and if the party’s organizational and ideological development is reflected in the party’s ideas regarding women’s role in society. The material of research consists of the Sweden Democrats party programs which has been analysed through conservatism and populism, which is the theoretical framework of this study. The results of the analysis have been divided into three different time periods and the first period between 1989-1999 indicated a strong connection between the Sweden Democrats view on women and a conservative view on women. During the second and third time period, between the years 1999-2018, the operational indicators for a conservative view on women could not be discovered, however several operational indicators which indicated a populistic view on women could be established. Previous academic research has categorized the Sweden Democrats view on women as conservative, but the results of this study´s analysis argues that the party´s view on women rather should be described as populism.

Kvist, Helena, Sunesson, Josefin January 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims to increase understanding of islamic values based on gender roles, examining Muslim men’s view of women and expectations of the woman as a future wife. Questions regarding expectations on the future wife, gender roles and marriage are answered through eight interviews with Muslim men. This thesis examines Muslim men’s view on differences between the sexes. Secular and Muslim feminist theory analyzes the empirical data. The result shows how some practicing Muslims who want to live according to the Qur’an may experience a certain social pressure when it comes to living up to the gender role that is often portrayed as essential. Men and women complement each other through marriage according to the informants of the study. Men are portrayed as the responsible one for the economy of the family and when it comes to women, focus is more on the body and her clothing. This thesis also demonstrates the heterogeneity that exists within islam and the importance of seeing Muslims as individuals, rather than belonging to a homogenous category.

Tsai, Yean 08 1900 (has links)
This study sought to discover how Kuan Han-Ch'ing portrayed the Yuan Dynasty (1280-1368 A.D.) and the Confucian view of women by means of the characterization in Kuan's plays. Eight female characters, three male public officials, and three male villains were selected for study. It was discovered that Kuan portrayed the ordinary people of his time with outstanding skill; that the characters selected for study provided ways of life contrary to Confucianism, the prevailing philosophy; that Kuan's characterization satirized the Mongol ruling class; and that Kuan depicted women more favorably than Confucian philosophy would have allowed.

The macho culture in change : A qualitative study on male professional youth and junior coaches’ perspective of men´s ice hockey as a fostering environment

Lindquist, Mattias January 2023 (has links)
Ice hockey has traditionally been a sport where the culture revolves around male norms and values, which in many cases has led to, among other things, derogatory views of women and homophobia. The purpose of the study was to investigate hockey coaches' experiences and perception of the macho culture's impact on ice hockey as a nurturing environment with a focus on how they believe they should work in order not to reproduce the macho culture. The data collection was carried out with the help of six semi-structured interviews with professional youth and junior coaches from the top two leagues in Sweden (SHL and Hockeyallsvenskan). The results show that the coaches feel that there has been a change and that the macho culture is not as evident as before, that hockey's reputation of being macho is outdated and that the culture is no worse than in other sports. In working against the macho culture, the coaches believe that the most important thing they can do is to have a close relationship with their players to create a secure environment where individuals dare to show vulnerability and that the coaches themselves are role models in this regard. The coaches also believe that it is important to have clear communication regarding rules and values and the consequences if these are broken.
