Culture centre Björkhagen

Pettersson, Ida January 2022 (has links)
The thesis project Culture centre Björkhagen investigates how to rebuild and make additions to an unused central heating building in Björkhagen and transform it into a new culture centre. During recent years the area has been under great expansion with new residential buildings and many new inhabitants. Even if this has been carefully planned and executed by Stockholm municipality, no new public places where people can meet has been planned or built. By re-building this unused central heating building into a new public space, the new and old inhabitants get a place to meet. This characteristic small industrial building gets saved and by re-building instead of building new, the ecological footprint is hugely reduced. To help the new program I am adding a series of objects and make small adjustments to the building structure so that it can function as a public space. Doing much by doing little.

”Man får göra vad man vill, men man måste tänka på vad man gör.” : En genusstudie om tjejer, femininitet och platstagande / ”You can do what you want, but you have to think about what you do.” : A gender study on girls, femininity and space for action

Soback, Antonia January 2016 (has links)

Movimentos de moradia e sem-teto em São Paulo: experiências no contexto do desmanche / Movements of Housing and No-Ceiling in Sao Paulo: experiences in context of undoes

Miagusko, Edson 01 September 2008 (has links)
This work intends to understand the practices and actions of the social movements which fight for housing projects and the sem-teto and its members in São Paulo, in the 1990 decade, inserted into the deconstruction context. This context has modified and transformed the categories, diagrams and the way which social movements experienced and fell upon public debate, changing terms of political action. The experience spreads, but in a field of possible shrinkage. The thesis intends to show that in this context politics appears as an excess. In a context of the possible shrinkage, politics can only appears necessarily on its principle, the democratic excess. The change of this context demands a re-interpretation of social movements starting from the observation of stories reported by its members and actors that surrounds them. Three movements that fight for housing projects and the sem-teto in São Paulo, which had their actions configured through the 1990 decade, were chosen to explore the thesis. Starting from the reported stories we focus on drawing a mapping of these social movements, its practices and the meanings of the established nominations.

Sultan, Martin 08 1900 (has links)
This master’s dissertation is a study of Michel Houellebecq’s poetry according to the theoretical framework of sociocritic (Duchet, Robin, Popovic). Urban life, social life and alterities of the city are the most present themes in the poetical work of the author. The main hypothesis is that the writing mobilizes and take over signs, linguistic acts and representations which float around in the French contemporary society, but in a dynamic way: the scriptural act of writing modifies their meaning and criticizes their common use. In the first chapter, we will discuss the “putting into text” (literal translation of the « mise en texte » concept by Duchet, which is the action of putting something into the form of a literary text) of urban life, which shines a light on how much the economic laws rule the city and its inhabitants. It describes a market world where money reigns. In the second chapter, the “putting into text” of social life and people-to-people ties shows how surprisingly artificial they are and certifies that their organization shrinks individual liberties more and more. Having free time to spend with your loved ones was once a given of social modernity but is now becoming difficult to manage. In the third and last chapter, the putting into text of the othernesses of the city (suburbs, province, nature) reveals that they offer no alternative to the hostility of the urban world and the fact that it is, and it will always be, every man for himself. Despite this distressing diagnosis, poetry tries to detect here and there hints of hope and solidarity.

Transformerat stadsrum : öppnar upp och länkar samman / Transformed Urban Space : Opens and connects Husby areas

Skalmstad, Peter January 2013 (has links)
My purpose of this project is to revitalize the District of Husby in northwestern Stockholm. Diversify zoned areas by adding and varying functions that define new pathways, link popular areas and overcome sites experienced as insecure. Overall, it may provide the conditions for a more vibrant city life attracting more people to stay on and climb the property ladder in Husby. The key concepts of the project is diversity, security, flexibility and sustainability. I have been working on preserving and developing qualities of the area in order to change existing buildings characterised by repetition, closed facades, rational building design and construction methods to obtain a greater diversity and a more flexible range of both business premises, housing and live-in commercial properties and also by analysing and transforming the city structure. Focus has been on the traffic separation environment and how it could be further developed by adding walkways along the access roads while still preserving qualities such as a car free environment for the children living in the area.
