The formulations of psychic elaboration (Verarbeitung and Durcharbeitung) in Freud\'s thought: the Studies on Hysteria to Technical Articles

Thiago da Silva Abrantes 13 May 2016 (has links)
This master thesis intends to make a discussion of the development of Freud\'s clinical and impasses that have arisen in the course of Freud that led him to develop different formulations of psychic elaboration, Verarbeitung and Ducharbeitung. We aim to circumscribe the historical, theoretical and technical conditions that led to the emergence and developments of the two formulations of psychic elaboration (Verarbeitung and Durcharbeitung) in Freud\'s work until 1918, point their relations with the management of transference and resistance in the psychoanalytical clinic from discussion of Freudians clinical cases Emmy, Miss Lucy, Katharina, Elisabeth von R., Dora and the Rat Man and present the relationship between working-through and associative elaboration, demonstrating that overcoming resistance leads to affective admission. We performed a reading historical and conceptual analysis of the Freudian texts, based on laplanchians guidelines. In the \"Preliminary Communication\" (1893), text written by Breuer and Freud, we find the first formulation of psychic elaboration (Verarbeitung). It is presented as the work that the psychic apparatus performs in order to integrate the excitations coming to him, establishing associative links between them. From the Freudian cases Emmy, Miss Lucy, Katharina, Elisabeth von R., we pointed out that the definition and purpose of associative elaboration have not changed in the Freudian thought, but to make this happen, Freud promoted important technical changes in his clinic. Associative elaboration (Verarbeitung) is a fundamentally intrapsychic work and is related, in the course of the development of Freud\'s work, with the function of transmitting and turn the energy from the drive. This is an intrapsychic process of overinvestment removal, promoting representational chaining through admission of conflicting affects. From the transference impasses that Freud faced with Dora, a double result focused on the establishment of any analytic situation: any clinical space can impose difficulties in the associations and in the subject\'s memories and will be in the way the analyst intervene transferentially that overcoming resistance happens and recall of traumatic experiences becomes possible. In the case of the Rat Man, the transfer became the main factor of an analysis, it is the starting point for any intervention by the analyst, seeking to make the subject himself overcome their resistance. The working-through (Durcharbeitung) appeared in Freudian thought as the work and effort that the subject must perform to overcome resistance, it is a means by which to refer the repetitions in question to recall, establishing possibilities for integrating the excitations of the psyche due the conflictual dynamics coming from the affect. Finally, we discuss the associative elaboration relates to an intrapsychic and associative process. Already working-through relates to overcoming resistance and is a transferencial and interpsychic process. Our hypothesis is that working-through leads associative elaboration, since it is by overcoming the resistance that the admission of a repressed representation is possible

Tesser, Evelin 10 August 2012 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Evelin Tesser.pdf: 787983 bytes, checksum: 1af38de98de5d393f5e4c3c8cc749be2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-08-10 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / A double desire motivated me to develop this work: to study in depth the reflections about dialogue described in my master`s thesis and to talk about a case which memories return by each reading about transference. Regarding dialogue, this thesis rejects any rapprochement between communication or intersubjectivity and dialogue, assumed here as a guide in an insoluble dissymmetry (non-coincidence) among speakers. The dialogue allows the relationship missing (not complete) among different speakers: the other is always the other - there will never be "communion", "union" or "communication" among the speakers. The dialogue does not hide the differences; these differences anchor the dialogue, while it supports them. Thus, speaking about clinical dialogue is to take advantage of uncertainty and unpredictability. It is said that no one knows what the patient will say until he says. This opposes the idea that to have dialogue, they need to get the "common knowledge". In the clinical dialogue with patients who present symptomatic speech disorders, which comes as a stronger experience is a fracture in the illusion of control about speech - symptomatic speech disorders, as Lier-DeVitto (2011) reported, these disorders brought "the truth of non-coincidence" to light . Indeterminacy and unpredictability of speech indicate, therefore, a specific notion of subject: "non-coincidence with himself or herself" approaches us to the hypothesis of the unconscious, the subject introduced by Freud in Psychoanalysis. In this thesis, the psychoanalysis will be present. Dialogue, in this case, involves love - it is affected by the transference, concept that will be discussed from the reading of three psychoanalysts (Freud, Lacan and Pommier) to then it will be discussed in the Language Clinic. The case of Mr. Eurico, propellant of this debate, is going to appear in the final chapter to drive the discussion about transference in the Language Clinic, as theoretically constructed within the Research Group CNPq "Aquisição, Patologias e Clínica de Linguagem", directed by Maria Francisca Lier-DeVitto and Lucia Arantes, in-PUCSP Lael / Este trabalho nasceu de um duplo desejo: aprofundar reflexões feitas em minha dissertação de mestrado sobre o diálogo e poder falar sobre um atendimento cujas lembranças retornavam a cada leitura sobre transferência. Nesta tese, a Psicanálise fará presença.

A atuação de D. João III à margem do pressuposto de personalidade (1540-1557) / The transference of the Colégio das Artes to the jesuits. The D. João III\'s actuation beyond the king\'s personality

Paulo Andre Moreira Zaniboni 07 December 2011 (has links)
The Art School was built along the years in a powerful monument of Portuguese History. Originally conceived to be a school ruled by the humanist principles and, from that point of view, to be a different school compared to the other monastic centres which existed in Portugal, it ended up not lasting long in its first proposal. Being the owner of a troubled trajectory, marked by the sudden death of its first principal, by countless conflicts among teachers and by the start of inquisitional processes towards three of its most important teachers, the Art School, in a never oficialized decision by D. Joao III, was transferred to Jesuss company in 1555. In fact, after ten years of remain of Inacians, the original space of the Art School has its functionality extinct being handed down to the inquisition, which would implement changes according to the new end which would be attributed to it. Actually, nowadays the space which was once used as a school is an antiquate area in Coimbra, a bother to the public power. Certainly for Portuguese historiography, its unlucky fate signs the sadness which characterizes Joanino´s Kingdom. In fact, for her, it was D. João III the greatest responsible for the tragic fate that set upon the school. Portraited in the past as a fanatic and nowadays as a hesitating man, it was this misunderstandable king´s personality that ended up sealing the destiny of his own work. This dissertation seeks an explanation for the history of the Art School, especially, the matter of its transference to the Jesuits which escaped from the King´s personality

A Longitudinal Study of the Outcomes from Participation in Wilderness Adventure Education Programs

Cummings, Jason Phillip 01 December 2009 (has links)
The results from this study suggest that participants of wilderness adventure education programs offered by Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School felt challenged by many of the experiences from their programs. Interactions with their group helped in dealing with the challenges presented by the experience. The development of hard skills gave participants a confidence in their abilities to survive and feel safe in these wilderness environments, which allowed them to relax and enjoy the experience, develop new perspectives, become motivated and inspired, and develop a sense of independence. Participants developed a sense of growth and maturity from their experiences, which upon reflection led to a sense of accomplishment. This sense of accomplishment led to transference of program benefits and values into participants’ lives, particularly in greater self-respect/esteem/confidence. The purpose of this study was to gain a better understanding of the outcomes that individuals experienced from wilderness adventure programs and the effects they had on participants’ lives. Means-end theory was used to understand the outcomes, more specifically attributes, consequences, and values, and their connections to each other. This study was longitudinal in nature and a comparison between the original data collection and follow-up interviews was done to investigate reported change in values over time. The results from this study show that the outcomes from participation in the Outward Bound and NOLS programs were transferring into participant’s lives and leaving a lasting impression.

[en] CRITICAL FACTORS FOR THE TRANSFERENCE OF KNOWLEDGE WITHIN FRANCHISING CHAINS: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY ON A BRAZILIAN FRANCHISING CHAIN OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES COURSES / [pt] FATORES CRÍTICOS PARA A TRANSFERÊNCIA DE CONHECIMENTO EM REDES DE FRANQUIAS: UM ESTUDO EXPLORATÓRIO EM UMA REDE BRASILEIRA DE FRANQUIAS DE ENSINO DE IDIOMAS

FELIPE MATHIAS CASTELLO BRANCO 25 January 2012 (has links)
[en] Aspects that influence and/ or represent the conditions to realize knowledge exchange, learning and development of the intellectual capital within the organizations constitute a topic of utmost importance to the survival of enterprises at any segment or industry. Recent surveys suggest the adequacy of the tradeoff to which individual entrepreneurs submit when they take the decision of becoming part of a franchising system. The franchisees accept to pass on part of their profits to a franchisor, in the format of fees and royalties in exchange to access knowledge restricted to the members of the network. The critical factors, able to influence the transference of organizational knowledge, refer to formal and informal mechanisms that build up favorable conditions to exchanges within the organization (or among organizations of a network). The present study investigates the perception of the members of a Brazilian franchising chain, knowledge intensive, regarding the factors they consider to be critical to promote the transference of knowledge within this network. To reach this objective we developed a case study. In a qualitative research we made use of personal interviews in depth – carried out from December 2010 to May 2011 with 15 (fifteen) franchisees – and percentage data observed from a questionnaire – sent by email to all franchisees of that network. Some factors became then evident regarding the perception of Brazilian franchisees regarding critical factors for knowledge transference within a network: a group of structural essential factors and a group of critical incremental factors were distinguished. This study presents evidences that, for Brazilian franchisees, social linkages are determining factors when it comes to transferring knowledge within a network.

Brist på själslig insikt? : Utomjordingar och deras forskning kring människan i Dark City / Lack of spiritual understanding? : Aliens and their research about humans in Dark City

Pettersson, Björn January 2012 (has links)
The paper examines how human inner properties and the interpretation of the external worldare explained and presented in Dark City (Alex Proyas, 1998). Aspects as the relationship between the body and soul/consciousness, body snatching, memory transferences and dystopian cities are analyzed. The field of study is compared to a general science-fiction film perspective regarding the aspects. Dark City contains an alien race with a common mind, but who lacks soul and individuality. They represent what humanity can become if the scientific development goes too far. They conduct research about the human soul to save their own race. They fail to reach the soul trough scientific experiments, which include memory transferences. The only remaining explanation is that the soul has an immaterial origin. This is against the common materialistic view in the current science-fiction genre; the inner aspects are to a large extent explained from a cognitive/neural perspective. This means that Dark City implicit criticize movies and theories which states that we may be able to understand and create copies of the human consciousness.

The effects of L1 orthographic features and phonological awareness on Chinese speakers learning to read in English

Moody, Joe William 21 February 2011 (has links)
This report focuses on language transference between alphabetic (English) and logographic, non-alphabetic (Chinese) languages, with respect to the importance of phonemic awareness in literacy acquisition. Within large ESL/EFL classrooms, language learners from all cultures are taught in the same way. Instruction rarely caters for specific problems directly associated with L1 transfer or the learner’s culture. The purpose of this report is not only to gain a better understanding of the differences in literacy acquisition between the two languages (English and Chinese), but also to assess the impact of this difference on Chinese children learning how to read in English. Research is examined that focuses on the role that phonemic awareness plays in the acquisition of English literacy and in the acquisition of Chinese literacy. The relationship between Chinese orthographic features and word recognition processing in English as a second language is explored as well as cross-language transfer of phonological awareness and its effect on English literacy acquisition. Pedagogical implications are also discussed on how to apply these findings to the classroom for instructors of English as a second language. / text

For Princes or Maids? : Provenance, form and value of serpentine at Skokloster castle

Sundin, Greger January 2010 (has links)
Skokloster castle, Sweden, houses a group of more than fifty objects in serpentine stone, acquired during the 17th century. The group is generally called Wrangels fältservis [Wrangel’s field service], referring to field marshall Carl Gustaf Wrangel (1613-1676). The, in many aspects, unresearched material is here approached through the field of material culture studies. The thesis is based on a three-partite approach towards the material, in which the first is the result of actual handling and examination of the objects, paired with a comparative analysis of similar objects regarding dating and influences. The second is a theoretical study of form and serpentine matter, and why the serpentine objects share so many form elements with metal artifacts. The third is based on inventory research and aspects of value, both monetary and cultural. The ascribed value of the group varied over time, from being used as kitchen utensils in the 17th and 18th century, to be regarded as private museum pieces in the 19th and 20th century. The various attitudes have left marks on the objects, both physical (as in level of attention given to repairs etc.) and in inventory matter (as in location and descriptive detail), which can be studied and reveal information otherwise unaccessible.

This work aims to study numerically and experimentally heat and mass transfer during drying of rice grains (BRSMG-CONAI cultivar). A transient three-dimensional mathematical model to predict mass and heat transfer and simulate the moisture content and temperature distributions inside the solid considering solid symmetry, and constants thermophysical properties and volume is presented. Were performed drying experiments with rough rice grain in the drying temperatures 40, 50, 60 and 70°C supported by IPA (Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco), placed in Goiana-PE, Brazil. The grain was considered as an ellipsoid of revolution. Results of moisture content obtained via CFD were compared to experimental. It was found that at low temperatures the drying rate is lower, decreasing of risks in defects on the product and that for higher temperatures we have higher temperature and moisture content gradients inside the grain which generate thermal-hydric stresses, causing cracks and fissures mainly in the early stages of the process. Were made comparisons between theoretical and experimental data of average moisture content and a good fit was obtained, which resulted in the estimation of the mass diffusion coefficient in several drying conditions.
