Propuesta de metodología de trabajo para la preparación e inyección de lechada en los sistemas de anclajes de muros pantalla para suelos gravosos de la ciudad de Lima / Proposal of work methodology for the preparation and injection of grout in the systems of anchors of walls for loamy soils of the city of lima

Mazuelos De la Cruz, Victor Manuel, Mercado Chávez, Ramiro Antonio 22 October 2021 (has links)
In our country, there is currently no standardized nor technical norms that involve the processes of preparation and injection of cementitious grout in wall anchor systems. In addition, companies are having performance problems in the anchor load test, which is directly influenced by the grout. For this, a proposal of methodology is presented to standardize the processes of preparation, injection in the systems of anchors of screen walls with loamy ground and quality control of cementitious grout in building. The research includes visits to buildings to collect information on the quality of labor, grout application processes and sampling for quality control. It also includes the evaluation of rheology and mechanical properties on a laboratory scale according to dosages required by the technical specifications of the UNE and ACI regulations. / Tesis

Förvalta och förnya : Några folkmusikers tankar kring personlig färgning i musiken / Preserve and renew : Some folk musicians' thoughts about interpretation in the music

Lätt, Andrea January 2021 (has links)
The goal with this study is to illuminate the thoughts of a selected number of Swedish folk musicians and teachers regarding conservation, anchoring and interpretation in the Swedish folk music tradition – in their own music making as well as in their own teaching. Definitions of and reasoning around the terms of traditions in relation to the concepts mentioned above, is the basic theoretical principles of the study. In order to get answers to my research questions I have interviewed four Swedish folk musicians and teachers with different experience, with qualitative interview as my method. The intention of analyzing the informants’ thoughts related to these concepts is to present a compilation of what is most significant in their own music making and in their own teaching.  All informants value interpretation very high in their own music making and teaching. Further, I also found certain differences in how the informants express themselves regarding the value of conservation and anchoring in the folk musical tradition. Nevertheless, all informants agreed upon that the anchoring is included in their own music making and their own teaching to some extent. When questions concerning the concept of conserving traditional music is presented to the informants in the study, a certain amount of distancing towards the concept itself is clear; the informants rather talk about anchoring, conveying and preservation of the music.

Semiotics of Humanitarian Photography

Paglamidis, Konstantinos January 2013 (has links)
Communication campaigns by major organizations in the field of development have been heavily dependent on humanitarian photography to motivate and attract donors. This genre of photography serves its purpose by informing, surprising and attracting the attention of a broad audience. It captures real life and real problems people in need have to deal with in remote areas of the world. This paper delves into the use of visual semiotics in the context of humanitarian photography and for the purpose of fund-raising by case study research of recent communication campaigns as implemented by major players in the field such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Global Fund to Fights AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Doctors without Border, CARE and Save the Children. The purpose is to identify key issues which allow for the elicitation of a sign framework specific to the fund-raising genre and its idiosyncratic use of visual signs in photography based on a broad theoretical basis of semiotics. The analysis focuses on the content and methods of signification of photography in each case study. The effectiveness of humanitarian photography and important aspects of its function is discussed in the scope of its use as a communication medium for development.

Women´s Investment Behaviour A Study of Female Investment Behaviour Across Demographics

Wongla, Intira, Hamrin, Agnes January 2024 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine the investment behaviour of women during the current recession and how demographic factors impact psychological biases related to investment behaviour. This research aims to examine the impact of age, marital status, education, income, cultural background and financial literacy on various biases such as overconfidence, confirmation bias, herding behaviour, representativeness bias, anchoring bias, risk- and loss aversion.  A questionnaire was conducted to collect data, resulting in a dataset of 558 observations. Using a deductive approach, based on theories of thirty-six hypotheses was tested using ordered logistic regression analysis. The primary findings revealed multiple connections between the demographic profiles of female investors and their investment behaviours, concerning psychological biases. Furthermore, this paper contributes to the ongoing debate about the relationship between investment behaviour and economic recession and provides stakeholders with valuable insights to tailor their communications and strategies to engage female investors. By analysing existing behavioural finance theories and empirical data, the study aims to improve understanding of women's investment preferences and attitudes across different demographic groups. Finally, the study aims to increase women's interest in managing their wealth and improving their financial decisions.

Capacity building for curriculum differentiation in the teaching of foundation phase mathematics in Ngwaritsi Circuit, Limpopo Province

Marishane, Matseke Alinah 12 1900 (has links)
This study aims at examining capacity building for Foundation Phase Mathematics teachers in curriculum differentiation in Limpopo Province. Proceeding within the framework of inclusive education, it takes as its point of departure two issues which are collectively critical for learner performance in Mathematics, namely, teacher capacity and differentiated instruction. The study revolves around the view that for improved learner achievement in Mathematics, particularly in lower grades, instructional practices aimed at supporting learners should be differentiated; and, that for this to be possible, teachers should be equipped with the capacity needed to carry out curriculum differentiation. This view emerges from the convergence of three problems which constitute the motivation for conducting this study. The first problem is poor learner achievement in Mathematics in South Africa, which is a subject dominating the public media and scientific discourse. The second problem is a documented general lack among teachers of appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for modification and adaptation of curriculum to the differentiated needs of learners. The last problem is the changing curriculum policy context in which teachers work as represented by the current national curriculum policy taking place against the backdrop of the broader South African education transformation agenda, geared towards inclusion. Underlying these problems is the recognition of curriculum as constituting one of the barriers to inclusive education.Based on an assumption that poor performance of learners in the Foundation Phase Mathematics is due to teachers’ inability to differentiate curriculum and their lack of the necessary capacity, this study adopts a qualitative research design and follows a qualitative approach to examine the problem. Data was collected by means of interviews, observations and document analysis. Twelve Mathematics teachers from three purposively selected schools and one curriculumadvisor from one circuit participated in the study. Data were analysed by means ofBraun and Clarke’s method of thematic analysis. The results present the challenges that Foundation Phase Mathematics teachers face, which include inability to respond to learner diversity and inadequate training in curriculum differentiation. / Inclusive Education / M. Three essays in household finance

Changwony, Frederick Kibon January 2013 (has links)
This thesis explores the impact of two behavioural finance concepts, social psychology and psychology, on household financial decisions. Under social psychology, I investigate whether the variety and intensity of social engagement enhances stock market participation. With regard to psychology, I examine two behavioural biases. First, I investigate whether mental accounting influences portfolio choice in three asset classes and whether financial advice and housing tenure increase (decrease) the effects of mental accounts on portfolio choice. Second, I examine whether households’ self-reported housing wealth are anchored on published house price indices and whether anchoring bias is mediated by market information, mortgage refinancing decisions and social factors. The main contributions and findings in the three studies are as follows. First, although there is an elaborate body of research concerning the relationship between social engagement mechanisms and portfolio choice, most studies investigate specific mechanisms in isolation. Using three waves in the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS), I bring together five social engagement measures in one model and show that socially engaged individuals are more likely to participate in the stock market. Consistent with Granovetter’s (1973) theory of social networks I find that a weak tie (measured by social group involvement) has a positive effect on stock market participation whereas a strong tie (measured by talking to neighbours) has no effect. More trusting individuals are more likely to participate in the stock market, as are those who identify with a political party. In contrast, the degree to which religion is important appears to have little impact. These results are robust using different specifications. Overall, the results of this study demonstrate that the likelihood of stock market participation increases with the variety and intensity of social engagement. Second, despite the established theoretical underpinnings of mental accounting in behavioural portfolio theory (BPT) and recent extensions, not much is known about their implications in real life situations. I use a recent UK household survey, the Wealth and Assets Survey (WAS), which has comprehensive information about financial assets to investigate whether there are differences in the ownership and portfolio share of three asset classes among individuals who exhibit no mental account, a single mental account and multiple mental accounts, and the conditional influences of financial advice, housing, cognitive ability, time preference and risk tolerance. Overall I find that mental accounting together with financial advice and housing tenure explain variations in both the probability of ownership and portfolio share in the three asset classes. Households that exhibit a single mental account have low share of investments in, and are less likely to own, a risky asset when compared to those that exhibit no mental account or exhibit multiple mental accounts. I also find that, when compared to having no mental account, exhibiting a single mental account or multiple mental accounts increases both the probability and investment share in a fairly safe asset but decreases portfolio share in safe assets. In addition, among those that exhibit a single mental or multiple mental accounts, financial advice decreases portfolio share in risky assets and fairly safe assets and increases portfolio share in safe assets. Housing tenure increases both the probability and portfolio share in risky assets, decreases portfolio share in fairly safe assets and increases portfolio share in safe assets. These results are consistent using multi-equation regressions, sub-samples, reparametrised variables and poisson regressions. Finally, as little is known about how households derive the self-reported house prices estimates that are commonly used to determine housing wealth, the third study examines whether households are anchored on published house price indices. The key conjecture is that, while assessing the values of their homes, homeowners place more weight on house price news at the expense of property characteristics and other market information. I find support for this hypothesis using sixteen waves of the BHPS, multiple methods, and both regional and national house price indices. I conclude that changes in self-reported housing wealth are anchored on changes in published house price indices. Specifically, ownership through a mortgage and greater financial expectations increase anchoring effects while mortgage refinancing decreases the effects. Moreover, use of money raised from refinancing for home investment, as opposed to other consumption purposes, has a positive association with change in self-reported house value and both uses reduce anchoring bias. In addition, I find that computer use increases anchoring bias and, among social engagement mechanisms, religiosity reduces anchoring while other measures have no effect. These results are robust to internal instrumental variables, national aggregate house prices, alternative indices and sub-samples.

L'innovation institutionnelle territoriale au service du développement économique : tentative de modélisation / Institutional territorial innovation for economic development : attempt to modeling

Hurdebourcq, Philippe 28 November 2013 (has links)
Since the end of the Fordist system, numerous researchers have researched the reasons for which some French territories managed to overcome the systemic crises to which they were subject whereas others did not. Paradoxically, whereas all of them developed within similar economic, social and institutional contexts, they have shown that the resilience of some resulted directly from endogenous factors. Local [characteristics], far from being absorbed by globalisation, have on the contrary appeared as a defence against the trend towards uniformity and a factor in competitiveness for firms. However, the meso economic approach underlying these analyses assumes that the territory can itself initiate a dynamic of coordination by its agents, whether they belong to the public or the private sphere, and can encourage them to integrate collaborative policies. However, these virtuous principles, creating value for firms and bringing cohesion to the territories themselves, cannot become effective unless individuals, business leaders, institutional managers and their staff accept these principles and agree to devote time and resources to them. However, our experience demonstrates relative ignorance on the part of actors liable to be concerned. The challenges and constraints relating to each tend, on the contrary, to be a barrier. That is why our research, based on in-depth testimony collected from the principal local actors aims to offer keys for ensuring the application of these meso concepts to the micro economic reality of these territories, with the aim of enabling them to apply and to benefit in concrete terms from the main principles of the territorial economy.

Réseaux virtuels et commerces ethniques : une dynamique entre l’espace des flux et l’espace urbain / Virtual networks and ethnic businesses : a dynamic between the space of flows and the urban space

Ebilitigué, Ines 05 December 2014 (has links)
This research deals with the future of the urban space in a context marked by the Technologies of Information and Communication (ICT). This subject is approached by the prism of the ethnic businesses situated in three localities, Parisian and regional. The outlook is focused on these places to understand why ICT are included in those spaces open to the public.Three hypotheses are suggested. First, The ICT are included in the businesses thanks to the commercial message diffused through the setting up of goods. Then, the networking of businesses can be explained by the need which the migrants have to maintain the links with their cultural origins and their family, lastly through the membership of the storekeepers in the community of the migrants. The methodology favors the methods of qualitative investigation coming from the anthropology and the micro-sociology. The empirical data allows a validation of the hypotheses. The analysis of those data underline first that, in the network society, urban places don’t disappear. Among them, the ethnic shops are areas of socialization of the virtual networks by placing them at the same level as the offers of the goods and the trade services. Then, the space produced by those businesses offers to the main clientele the possibility of preserving its anchoring in the urban places while being mobile and virtually mobile. By this last idea, this research shows that the ethnic business and ICT are articulated tools which the migrants and their family situated abroad know how to seize to allow an evolution of their daily situations and projects. This analysis gives possibility to considered migrants out terms of the digital divide, and as integrated into the networks society. This new figure of migrant has overtaken the situation of double presence in their origin country and to their family living there, to actually know situations of multiple presences in this country and to their relatives.
