Resan mot den virtuella verkligheten : En multipel fallstudie av den virtuella verklighetens påverkan på varumärkesimagen inom bilindustrin / The Journey Towards the Virtual Reality

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate how companies can use VR-commercials and commercials to influence brand image. Furthermore, the purpose is to identify which factors in these medias that affect brand image as well as account for the differences between these two medias. Research questions How can companies use VR-commercials and commercials to influence brand image? Which factors affect brand image through VR-commercials and commercials and what is the differences between these two medias? Result VR-commercials and commercials make it possible to influence the brand image. The essay also mentions the identified factors that affect the brand image which are environment, telepresence, memories and associations, noise and disturbances, barriers and music. Contribution The study describes how companies can use VR-commercials and commercials to influence an individual's brand image. The study clarifies the differences between the two medias and the factors that influence the brand image of the interviewees. An analysis model is presented since a gap in the existing knowledge in communications theory was discovered / Problemställning Kommer dagens reklamfilmer vara tillräckliga för att få kunden att lyssna till företag eller kommer det krävas mer av deras marknadsföring för att företag ska lyckas nå ut till sina kunder? Syfte Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur företag kan använda VR-reklam och reklamfilm för att påverka varumärkesimagen. Vidare är syftet att identifiera vilka faktorer i dessa medier som påverkar en individs varumärkesimage samt redogöra för eventuella skillnader de två medierna sinsemellan. Frågeställningar Hur kan företag använda VR-reklam respektive reklamfilm för att påverka varumärkesimagen? Vilka faktorer påverkar varumärkesimagen via VR-reklam respektive reklamfilm och vad skiljer dessa medier åt? Resultat Genom VR-reklam och reklamfilm går det att påverka varumärkesimagen. I uppsatsen nämns även de identifierade faktorer som har påverkan på denna vilka är miljö, telenärvaro, minnen och associationer, brus och störningar, barriärer och musik. Kunskapsbidrag I studien beskrivs hur företag kan använda VR-reklam och reklamfilm för att påverka en individs varumärkesimage. I studien klargörs de skillnader som finns mellan medierna och vilka faktorer som har påverkat intervjupersonernas varumärkesimage. En egen analysmodell presenteras då en lucka i den befintliga kommunikationsteorin upptäcktes.

Audi Uno : A symbiotic car

Abstract When we paint a nebulous future of tomorrow based on the research dictated by the available resources, we see a marathon run for the future that instigates new opportunities for the automotive industry with additive manufacturing. Cars of today are a product of subtractive manufacturing; but in future 3D printing would empower us to define a novel architecture that provokes the construction of the interior, exterior and the powertrain in one piece allowing us to celebrate the marriage between all three key components. Project UNO, meaning - ‘one’, exhibits this new architecture through a semi-autonomous concept that exaggerates the feeling of sportiness with a suspended cabin. In the autonomous mode the cabin moves around in the boundary of the exterior to enhance the g-forces by thrusting the cabin forward while accelerating, backward while braking and tilting while cornering. Therefore, the sporty nature of the design can be celebrated actively in both modes. Inspiration and Method The process was cut up into two palpable routes. The former dealt with a system level approach where the present cardinal building blocks of automotive manufacturing were rearranged with the new cues derived from additive manufacturing techniques to render a new system level solution. The later was aimed at advocating a tangible solution that best delineated this idea. Ten radical themes were generated that helped showcase the marriage between the three key components - exterior, interior and powertrain. The final theme was inspired by the analogy of an egg where the yolk moves freely within the egg white. This metaphor was then applied to the cabin experience in the autonomous mode. The occupant in the manual driven mode can cherish the full potential of the car to procure a sporty experience outside the city. While in the city, the autonomous mode seizes control and instigates the movement of the cabin within the perimeter of the exterior to amplify the g-forces by thrusting the cabin forward while accelerating, backwards while braking and tilting it while cornering. Result Concept UNO celebrates the marriage between the exterior, the interior and the powertrain that best encapsulates the process of additive manufacturing where cars would be grown and not assembled. The interior tub is reposed inside the exterior shell with the aid of six mechanical joints and is not adhered to the floor of the car. The gap around the cabin exaggerates the feel of a floating island that can shift freely. The cabin is composed of smart glass which renders opaque when an electric current is passed through it and turns transparent when the car is parked gravitating people to yield a glimpse of the interior. The bottom of the cabin is reflected by the gloss finish of the chassis unit that amplifies the floating feeling. A warm white was used to grant the concept a more puristic look while making it seem warm and friendly. The idea was then showcased through a 1:4 scale model printed in one piece using a Selective Laser Sintering (SLM) technique.

All were right-handed, had normal hearing or mild sensorineural hearing loss and underwent bilateral hearing evaluation (otoscopy, impedance and ipsilateral and contralateral acoustic reflex, audiometry and speech audiometry), central auditory processing tests (dichotic consonant-vowel, Sequence Pattern frequency and Duration) and cognitive tests (Trail A and B, BDI, Procedure Brow Peterson, Stroop, divided and sustained attention).Results : 63% of women complained of speech understanding. The experimental groups showed no significant differences in demographic variables, hearing assessment or evidence of central auditory processing. However, women with complaints of speech understanding had poorer performance on tasks Trail B, Brown Peterson (interference motor), sustained attention (concentration) and Stroop(color-word), and higher scores on the BDI.Conclusions : Most women in post-menopausal women complain of speech understanding, which are associated with changes in cognitive domains potentially involved in central auditory processing, as processing speed, attention and working memory. / Introdu??o : As altera??es hormonais relacionadas ? menopausa s?o capazes de modular fun??es que s?o importantes para o processamento central de informa??es verbais.Objetivo : Avaliar a rela??o entre queixas de compreens?o de fala e o processamento auditivo central e fun??es cognitivas em mulheres p?s-menop?usicas.Metodologia : Participaram deste estudo 92 mulheres p?s-menop?usicas (45 a 60 anos), as quais foram classificadas em dois grupos de acordo com a presen?a ou aus?ncia de queixa de dificuldade de compreens?o da fala. The goal is to understand how the public participation occurs, to observe the actions taken by the newscast production in order to generate interaction and to identify if the internet engagement rates can be related to the audience rates of the main Brazilian free-to-air television newscasts. The proposition is to carry out a quantitative research, with statistical analysis of linear correlation, and qualitative, with content analysis (Bardin, 2009), using the data collected from June 27 to July 27, 2017, from news programs Jornal da Band and Jornal Nacional, in television and on the official pages of the programs on Facebook and Twitter. The public participates, collaborates and reacts in social networks, but the programs give little encouragement to the participatory culture, which can justify the positive linear correlations with intensities considered weak and moderate found among the television audience rates and the internet engagement rates. / O presente trabalho investiga algumas mudan?as que come?am a surgir na televis?o a partir da converg?ncia entre m?dias, e explora, mais especificamente, o relacionamento dos telejornais com seus p?blicos. O objetivo ? compreender como ocorre a participa??o do p?blico, observar quais as a??es realizadas pela produ??o para gerar intera??o e identificar se o engajamento na internet pode estar relacionado com os n?veis de audi?ncia dos principais telejornais da televis?o aberta brasileira. Nonetheles, it is not clear if ATH can also lead to impairment of the inner ear. Objective: to detect and characterize hearing impairment in children with Adenotonsillar Hypertrophy.Methods: A case-control study in children with and without Adenotonsillar Hypertrophy. All subjects underwent tonal audiometry, impedance, transient otoacoustic emissions and distortion product otoacoustic emissions. Results: The study involved 32 children with ATH and 37 controls, from 5 to 13 years of age. There were no significant differences between groups regarding gender (p=0.763), age (p=0.349), weight (p=0,653) and race (0.285). Tonal audiometry was normal for both groups in both ears, although the ATH showed slight falls at high frequencies. Transient otoacoustic emissions (TOE) and distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOE) were present in both ears of the control group. In the ATH group, TOE were present in the right ear of all children but only in 30% in the left ear; DPOE were present in only 12%, but in 68% of the right ear. Conclusion: There is an association between Adeno-tonsillar Hypertrophy and hearing neurosensory impairment, identified in otoacoustic emissions but not in tonal audiometry / Introdu??o: Em crian?as, a perda auditiva pode ser uma das complica??es da Hipertrofia Adenotonsilar (HAT) devido ? obstru??o de vias a?reas superiores com consequente ac?mulo de secre??o na orelha m?dia (efus?o). Resultados: Participaram do estudo 32 crian?as com HAT e 37 controles com idades entre cinco e 13 anos, de ambos os sexos. N?o houveram diferen?as significativas entre os grupos em rela??o a g?nero (p=0,763), idade (p=0,349), peso (p=0,653) e ra?a (p=0,285). Em rela??o ? audiometria tonal, o grupo HAT n?o apresentou diferen?a entre o grupo controle em ambas as orelhas, por?m, o grupo com HAT apresentava discretas quedas nas altas frequ?ncias. O grupo experimental foi constitu?do por 19 participantes que receberam tratamento durante 5 meses. Participaram do grupo de controle 21 participantes que n?o receberam tratamento fonoaudiol?gico. Os testes de processamento auditivo e de compreens?o em leitura foram aplicados em 2 momentos: antes e depois da terapia, para o grupo experimental, e na primeira e segunda avalia??o, para o grupo de controle. Os escores de compreens?o em leitura de ambos os grupos foram tratados estatisticamente, permitindo a corrobora??o da hip?tese desta pesquisa: a terapia do processamento auditivo melhora os escores em compreens?o leitora do grupo experimental, principalmente no teste de M?ltipla Escolha. O resultado da pesquisa constitui prova do processamento por distribui??o em paralelo, defendido pelo paradigma conexionista.

It aims to analyze the audience participation in these programs, in S?o Lu?s (Maranh?o, Brazil). It uses as the main theoretical and methodological axis Cultural Latin American Studies, with emphasis on the "night map" of Martin-Barbero. The concepts of orality and rhetorical dialogue with cultural studies with a view to explain the action of the audience in the dynamics of news programs. It uses of qualitative methodology tools to approach reality: documents, semi-structured interviews and listening daily. Interview 15 participants of the Society Listeners Maranhenses of Radio (TO ADD) and two presenters of news programs. The results show the classification of the audience members and seasonal listeners. In both, the major content in the shares is the life of the city of S?o Lu?s. The militants prefer to express themselves through live talks, by telephone, on almost all items on the agenda or introduced by them, in various programs and stations along day. They seek to convince their interlocutors, feel happy to talk and hear her voice, and aim the recognition of the presenters and the audience and they aim merit to conduct debates. Analyses of the field fumes lead to the definition of the militant audience in the following profiles and the corresponding sense made to the radio: encyclopaedic / pulpit; analytical and propositional / parliament; theme / forum; tipster / plaza; set of claims / administration, court, public prosecutor; angry / speaker; Mule / office; political / platform. Seasonal rarely speak only when they are provoked or instigated the subject at hand, the opinions, analyzes and interpretations of thepresenters and listeners. Prevails among seasonal participation through text messages via (ou by means) cell phone. The audience participation occurs in control scenario of stations by business groups, political and economic, religious and governmental. Browsing the "night map", based on diachronic and synchronic movements by moments and mediations, highlights the participation in the formation of a cultural audience practice, tailoring the information fabric of the city. / Esta tese compreende a participa??o dos ouvintes em programas jornal?sticos das emissoras de r?dio AM como uma pr?tica cultural. Tem como objetivo analisar a participa??o da audi?ncia nesses programas, no munic?pio de S?o Lu?s (Maranh?o-Brasil). Emprega como principal eixo te?rico-metodol?gico os Estudos Culturais latino-americanos, com ?nfase no ?mapa noturno? de Mart?n-Barbero. Os conceitos de oralidade e ret?rica dialogam com os Estudos Culturais na perspectiva de explicar a a??o da audi?ncia na din?mica dos programas jornal?sticos. Utiliza instrumentos da metodologia qualitativa para aproxima??o da realidade: documentos, entrevistas semi-estruturadas e di?rio de escuta. Entrevista 15 participantes da Sociedade dos Ouvintes Maranhenses de R?dio (SOMAR) e dois apresentadores de programas jornal?sticos. Os resultados apontam a tipifica??o da audi?ncia em ouvintes militantes e sazonais. Em ambos, o conte?do majorit?rio nas participa??es ? o cotidiano da cidade de S?o Lu?s. Os militantes preferem se expressar atrav?s da fala ao vivo, por telefone, sobre quase todos os assuntos em pauta ou introduzidos por eles, em v?rios programas e emissoras ao longo do dia. Eles buscam convencer os seus interlocutores, sentem prazer em falar e ouvir a pr?pria voz, visam o reconhecimento dos apresentadores e da audi?ncia e almejam o m?rito de conduzir os debates. As an?lises das emana??es do campo levam ? tipifica??o da audi?ncia militante nos seguintes perfis e o correspondente sentido constru?do para o r?dio: enciclop?dico/p?lpito; anal?tico-propositivo/parlamento; tem?tico/f?rum; palpiteiro/pra?a; reivindicat?rio/administra??o, tribunal, Minist?rio P?blico; indignado/alto-falante; mula/gabinete; pol?tico/palanque. Os sazonais falam raramente, apenas quando s?o provocados ou instigados no tema em pauta, pelas opini?es, an?lises e intepreta??es dos apresentadores e dos ouvintes. Predomina entre os sazonais a participa??o atrav?s das mensagens de texto via telefone celular. A participa??o da audi?ncia ocorre no cen?rio de controle das emissoras por grupos empresariais, pol?ticos e econ?micos, religioso e governamental. A navega??o no ?mapa noturno?, com base nos movimentos diacr?nico e sincr?nico pelos momentos e media??es, evidencia a participa??o na forma??o de uma pr?tica cultural da audi?ncia, costurando o tecido informativo da cidade.

High Level Synthesis Of An Image Processing Algorithm For Cancer Detection

There is a crucial need for real time detection and diagnosis in digital mammography. To date, most computer aided analysis applications are software driven and normally require long processing times. Digital filtering is often the initial stage in processing mammograms for both automated detection and tissue characterization, which relies on Fourier analysis. In this research the main objective is to lay the groundwork for converting software driven mammography applications to hardware implementations by using Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). The long-term goal is to increase processing speed. This research focuses on achieving the main objective by using one specific mammographic image processing application for demonstration purposes. ASICs offer high performance at the price of high development costs and are suitable for real time diagnosis. In this research, we develop a behavioral VHDL model of a specific filtering algorithm. Automatic Design Instantiation System (AUDI)8, a high level synthesis tool is used to automatically synthesize an RTL design from the model. A floating point behavioral component library is developed to support the synthesis of the filtering algorithm. The work shows that the hardware output is identical to the software driven output at when considering eight-bit accuracy and shows only rounding errors at higher storage capacities.
