The regular use of the notion of "scenic precision" tends to give emphasis to its esthetical dimension, whereas the non formal aspects involved in the concept, as the psychic configuration of the scenic performance, are not taken into consideration. However, the first mentioned formalistic conception of scenic precision, which is close to the notion of choreography, should not be assumed and generally applied to all circumstances. One can consider that some staging propositions require from the artist - an actor, a ballet dancer or a performer - a psychophysical precision, an integral and conscious mobilization of his physical and non physical acting resources. This is the case of most of Jerzy Grotowski's productions as, for example, the famous plays Akropolis, The Constant Prince and Apocalyssis cum Fuguris. Based on this premise, this dissertation describes and discusses the peculiarities of these three plays with respect to the notion of scenic precision / Mestrado / Artes da Cena / Mestra em Artes da Cena

The main focus of this dissertation is to discuss the effect on an actor's training (or the actor's work upon him- or herself) from the meeting between the Thematic Project Memory/ies and Small Perceptions' conceptual reference and my artistic and pedagogic experience. This Thematic Project is coordinated by Renato Ferracini, who is also the tutor for this master's degree. I searched for clues to think about training specifically about the speech of the actors that work with the Eugênio Barba, Lume and Matula Teatro (the group with whom I work) actors. I also searched in texts by Stanislavski and Grotowski, going through them with reference to the main concept of the aforementioned Thematic Project, namely the Idea of memory as creation, or recreation in present time, and the micro-perceptions as a keen area for the actor's work. Throughout the dissertation, I highlight that many of the reflections on the training emerged from the teaching experience and revisiting my own personal trajectory as an actor. This research then includes an actor's training orientation for the Cia Cupim, a theater crew formed by ex-students of a theater school where I teach / Mestrado / Artes da Cena / Mestre em Artes da Cena

Une approche géographique / The tourism development in the high Brazilian Amazon : A geographical approach

Araujo Vieira de Andrade, Terence Keller 26 November 2012 (has links)
The thesis that we propose starts from the idea that questioning of the spatial dimension of tourism would be a way to understanding the transformations of the geographical places and societies that surround them. Concentrating the focus on the upper Brazilian Amazon, reveals us one of the most diversified, complex and attractive biome for the human curiosity, and which is also the region with the least touristic flows of Brazil. This paradox forces us to analyze this part of the globe for its specificities, but as it is also a part of a whole, we are led to adopt a systematic approach of the tourism. Our goal will be to analyze interactions between different actors of the upper Brazilian Amazon and it creates touristic places. Thus, two major questionings will be the guideline to follow throughout our reasoning. Firstly, how did the Amazonian places become touristic over the time? and secondly, how the actions of the actors stimulate the transformation of the Amazonian touristic places? This is the reason why we propose an empirical and pragmatic reading of the tourist phenomenon based on different geographical scales. Changing the distance and the angle of the observation will be the method used to confront the various representations of the actors around the tourism development. The multiple view on the intentions of the local populations, travelers' flows, as well as those led by the politics and economics actors, makes us think about the geographical specificities: the organization of an unstructured space, with lower population density, but with a strong presence of social and environmental resources and in the process of integration into a world tourist space.

Evaluations, Actors and Institutions. The Case of Research, Technology and Innovation Policy in Austria

Streicher, Jürgen 06 April 2017 (has links) (PDF)
Evaluations have gained popularity for improving public policy measures, programmes and institutions in the field of science, technology and innovation (RTI). Though the frequency and quality of evaluations have increased, in terms of impact indicators and methodological diversification, concerns have been raised about their effectiveness to fuel change in policy making. This raises the issue of the low absorption level of evaluation findings by policy making in general and in Austria in particular. Recent research emphasises the need for a holistic perspective on the benefits and usefulness of evaluations in order to allow a more thorough consideration of complex interdependencies and effects that can occur at different levels and in different forms. While previous research has put much emphasis on the conduct of evaluations and their implementation, there are less empirical studies that address institutional or contextual explanations when it comes to the effects of evaluations. This study aims to contribute to the narrowing of this gap in the literature by investigating how individual and composite actors (such as organisations), as well as, the policy itself are affected by policy evaluations, drawing attention to the factors and mechanisms that shape evaluation effects. Making use of the concepts of "policy learning", actor-centred institutionalism and recent research in the field of evaluation utilisation for the analysis, this study developed a conceptual framework that proposes three groups of conditioning factors and mechanisms: Actors and their interactions, the institutional context, and the evaluation itself. A multiple case study approach, using evaluated programmes in the Austrian research, technology and innovation (RTI) policy scene, was employed to examine the effects of evaluations at various levels, the conditioning factors and mechanisms, as well as, the ensuing pathways of effects. Results indicate that evaluations generate a wide range of diverse effects, beyond individual learning, and clearly and visibly impact programme development. Several contextual aspects shape evaluation effects. The current structures and practices endorse evaluations as routine, which may reduce chances of broader learning, and distance the evaluation and the possibility to learn from it from an interested audience. The thesis concludes with implications for theory and practice, and suggestions for paths of future research.

“Brigas de beleza”: a construção de consensos no fórum de comunidades de política pública do território rural Vale do Rio Pardo – RS / "Beauty fights": the build-up of consensus in the communities public policy forum of the Vale do Rio Pardo rural territory - RS

Silva, Taciane Laís da 23 February 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation is to study the Vale do Rio Pardo Rural Territory (TRVRP), here characterized as a community public policy forum, which was recognized as a Rural Territory integrated into the National Program for Sustainable Development of Rural Territories (PRONAT)by the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) in 2013, defining it with a geographical delimitation that was not demanded by the social actors. The TRVRP unites two distinct macro regions, the South region of the Territory (referring to the Pardo River Valley) and the North (referring to the upper Serra do Botucaraí region, included in the new territorial delimitation made by MDA). In view of the above, the main objective of this study was to analyze the relationships that were built between the agents that defined a certain conformation, territorial management and the public policy community forum. Specifically, it was sought to identify the main social actors that lead to the PRONAT social concertation in the TRVRP; to find out what are the main tensions and to analyze the characteristics of this social protagonism assumed by these actors. For this, it has been used as reference a study conducted by Paulo Niederle and Cátia Grisa in the year of 2013, in which the authors identified some guiding questions to carry out these case studies. Thus, the focus of the analysis was centered in the intersections between what, from the native point of view, is conceptualized as politics, using as a method of cognitive analysis t approach This analysis has as its main merit the perception built by Bruno Jobert and Ève Fouilleux, which is based on the manner in which disputes and negotiations are related to the production of public policy references, highlighting where they occur in forums / arenas, as well as the form of decoding the different actors create and the representations that maintain these references. To this end, six social actors were identified and characterized as spokespersons, who were the protagonists in the TRVRP tensions negotiations. During the research, three critical moments were analyzed, which refer to the main stresses brought for reflection: the lack of cohesion and territorial identity and the need to divide the Territory, the Multi-territorial Conference on Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ATER), and the Discussions and tensions in the disputes of the investment proposals of the Infrastructure Program (PROINF). This process of immersion with the object of study occurred due to the fact that the author of this dissertation is part of the team of the Extension and Territorial Development Center (NEDET) that advises the Territorial Board of TRVRP. Therefore, the instruments used in the TRVRP ideas production forum served to weaken the traditional forms of domination perpetuated in the Territory. In addition, it succeeded in favoring the empowerment of social actors who were previously submissive to the will of the State. However, it is necessary to continue this process and identify the changes of spokespersons over time. Certainly, the emergence of new ideas will be linked to struggles of legitimizing new actors who will replace the former spokespersons of the TRVRP public policy community forum.

Exploring projectification in the public sector: the case of the next stage review implementation programme in the department of health

Schuster, Andrew 10 1900 (has links)
Objective: Public projects are used to delivery policy objectives. From a financial perspective, the Major Projects Authority (MPA) estimated a whole life investment of £488 billion for 199 major projects in 2014, only a small subset of the total number of public projects. Given the financial exposure, the impact of endemic public project failures could put the economic health of the nation at risk. This thesis studies the challenges facing public projects. It applies an organisational capabilities lens to investigate projectification, when organisations shift away from functional-based organising (FBO) toward project-based organising (PBO). Research Design: This study adopts an interpretivist research paradigm, with a constructionist epistemology and an idealist ontology, and employs an abductive research strategy. Structurally, it follows the Cranfield Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) methodology, with a linking document that summarises three complementary research projects: a systematic literature review (SLR) followed by two empirical studies that investigate the Department of Health (DoH) during the early phases of the Next Stage Review Implementation Programme (NSRIP). The findings are derived from over 250 academic literature sources, 100 government publications and 41 semi-structured interviews. ...[cont.]

The theory is that regional development operates with various actors concepts. Traditional neo-classic approaches stemming from the individualized concept of a actor in the market environment are often completed with institutional approaches that highlight the understanding of the actor as an entity interwoven by many specific market mechanisms and social structures - production chains, subcontractor relationships and further formal and informal boundaries that define market potential. / Institutions and local actors in the valorization of local product : what local approach to the valorization of olive oil Beni-Maouche in Kabylie ?

Lamani, Ouassila 19 December 2014 (has links)
Algeria is one of the main Mediterranean countries where the climate is more conducive to the cultivation of olive trees. Concentrated in the mountains of Kabylie, olive oil represents all the land productions that suffer most from the lack of proven professional organization. The need to revitalize the olive oil sector in Algeria has become a major necessity. Therefore, the objective of our research is to identify the actors involved in the processes of production, transformation (Maâsras) and olive oil marketing with in our study area. Our research also aims at analyzing the institutional arrangements as well as formal or informal relations in the sector, in order to assess the constraints that hamper the valorization of this local product, and then question the introduction of institutional change to correct or improve the level of performance and sustainability of the sector. Our empirical application to the town of Beni Maouche in Kabylia, has demonstrated that the future of the olive-oil, from this region depends on the local actor's capacity to be involved and on the institutional support in maintaining the source link and trust together with maintaining proximity.

Rehearsing Emotions : The Process of Creating a Role for the Stage

Bergman Blix, Stina January 2010 (has links)
This thesis takes as its starting point the dramaturgical metaphor of the world as a stage, which is used in sociological role theories. These theories often presume what stage acting is about in order to use it as a simile for every day acting. My intention is to investigate how stage actors actually work with their roles, in particular how they work with emotions, and how it affects their private emotions. The thesis draws on participant observation and interviews with actors during the rehearsal phase of two productions at a large theatre in Sweden. The results show that the inhabiting of a role for the stage is more difficult and painstaking than has been assumed in role theories so far. Shame and insecurity are common, particularly in the start up phase of the rehearsals. Interestingly, these emotions do not disappear with growing experience, but instead become recognized and accepted as part of the work process. The primary focus is the interplay between the actors' experience and expression of emotions, often described in terms of surface and deep acting, concepts which are elaborated and put into a process perspective. Analysis of the rehearsal process revealed that actors gradually decouple the privately derived emotional experiences that they use to find their way into their characters from the emotions that they express on the stage. Thus private experiences are converted to professional emotional experiences and expressions, triggered by situational cues. When the experience has been expressed the physical manifestation can be repeated with a weaker base in a simultaneous experience, since the body remembers the expression. It is important though, that the emotional expression is not completely decoupled from a concomitant experience; then the expression looses its vitality. The ability to professionalize emotions makes the transitions in and out of emotions less strenuous but can infiltrate and cause problems in the actors' intimate relations.
