The diploma thesis deals with the emotional experience of patients with chronic renal failure. It aims to explore positive and negative emotional experiences, the presence of depressive and anxiety symptoms, the degree of anger and alexithymia in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. The theoretical part summarizes previously published theoretical knowledge in this area and the empirical part describes the statistical measurement and comparison of selected variables of emotional experience in the research sample. The theoretical part is divided into 4 chapters, the first of them deals with the medical aspects of chronic renal failure and its treatment. The second chapter deals with the coping with illness, defines psychological aspects of chronic disease and describes the patient's subjective perception of the disease and attitudes towards the disease. The third chapter summarizes the definitions of emotions and emotional experience and defines the most respected theories of emotion. The fourth chapter describes the emotional experiences of illness, factors affecting the emotional experience of illness and deals with depression, anxiety, anger and alexithymia, at the end focuses on current research in this area. 父母控制、青少年自我概念與其情緒困擾及偏差行為關係之研究 / Relations among Parental Control and Adolescents' Self Concept, Emotional Disturbance and Disruptive Behavior梅淑鶯, May, Iris Unknown Date (has links)
本研究主要的研究目的在探討青少年自我概念是否能在父母控制(父母心理控制、及父母行為控制)與青少年情緒困擾(焦慮、憂鬱、及憤怒)及偏差行為之間扮演中介的角色。以國中生與高中生共967人為研究對象,以父母心理控制量表、父母監控量表、自我概念量表、貝氏焦慮量表、青少年憂鬱量表、特質生氣量表、偏差行為量表等做為研究工具,再以描述統計、T檢定、皮爾遜積差相關、結構方程模式等統計方法進行分析,結果發現:
(一)、 青少年知覺中等程度之父母心理控制與父母行為控制、中上程度之自我概念、低程度之情緒困擾與偏差行為。
(二)、 男、女生所知覺之父母心理控制、焦慮、及偏差行為,存在顯著差異。
(三)、 國、高中生所知覺之父母行為控制、自我概念、焦慮、憂鬱、憤怒、及偏差行為,存在顯著差異。
(四)、 青少年知覺之父母心理控制與其自我概念之間存在顯著負相關、父母行為控制與其自我概念之間存在顯著正相關;父母心理控制與父母行為控制之間存在顯著正相關。
(五)、 青少年自我概念與其焦慮、憂鬱、憤怒、及偏差行為之間,皆存在顯著負相關。
(六)、 青少年知覺之父母心理控制與其焦慮、憂鬱、憤怒、及偏差行為之間,皆存在顯著正相關。
(七)、 青少年知覺之父母行為控制與其焦慮、憂鬱、及憤怒之間,皆不存在顯著相關;青少年知覺之父母行為控制與其偏差行為之間,存在顯著負相關。
(八)、 「父母控制、青少年自我概念、與其情緒困擾及偏差行為間關係」理論模式,與由研究對象為觀察樣本所估計之模式達到適配。亦即將青少年自我概念納入模式後,青少年知覺之父母心理控制對其情緒困擾(焦慮、憂鬱、及憤怒)不再存在直接影響,僅透過青少年自我概念間接負向影響其情緒困擾與偏差行為;父母行為控制除了直接負向影響偏差行為之外,還透過青少年自我概念間接負向影響其情緒困擾與偏差行為。
本研究根據上述研究結果逕行討論,並提出建議,供後續相關研究與實務工作之參考。 / The main purpose of this study is to investigate whether adolescent’s self concept is able to mediate between parental control and adolescent’s emotional disturbance as well as disruptive behavior. Parental control includes psychological control and behavioral control. Emotional disturbance is composed of anxiety, depression and anger.
A total of 967 secondary school students from grade 7 to grade 12 responded to the Parental Psychological Control Scale, Parental Monitoring Scale, Self Concept Scale, Anxiety Scale, Adolescent’s Depressive Scale, Anger Temperament Scale and Disruptive Behavior Scale to measure the parental psychological control, parental behavioral control, adolescent’s self concept, anxiety, depression, anger and disruptive behavior respectively. The data were conducted by descriptive statistics, T test, Pearson correlation, structural equation modeling. The major findings are as follows:
1. Adolescents perceived middle level of parental psychological control and behavioral control, upper middle level of self concept, and low level of emotional disturbance as well as disruptive behavior.
2. The parental psychological control, anxiety and disruptive behavior perceived by the male adolescents are significantly different from those perceived by the female adolescents.
3. The parental behavioral control, self concept, anxiety, depression, anger and disruptive behavior perceived by the junior high school students are significantly different from those perceived by the senior high school students.
4. Parental psychological control and behavioral control have the significantly negative and positive correlation with self concept respectively. Parental psychological control is positively correlated with behavioral control significantly.
5. Self concept is negatively correlated with emotional disturbance and disruptive behavior.
6. Parental psychological control is positively correlated with emotional disturbance and disruptive behavior.
7. Parental behavioral control is negatively correlated with disruptive behavior, however, have no significant correlation with emotional disturbance.
8. The SEM results showed that the proposed “model of relations among parental control and adolescents' self concept, emotional disturbance and disruptive behavior” fit the collected data well. That means when considering self concept in model, parental psychological control no longer affects emotional disturbance directly, but, negatively influences emotional disturbance and disruptive behavior via self concept indirectly. Parental behavior control owns the similar indirect influence like psychological control, besides, affects disruptive behavior directly.
In accordance with the findings, researcher raised several advices for parents and school for the sake of parental practices and education. Suggestions were also made for further research.

Ce mémoire porte sur la représentation de la fureur dans la tragédie en musique "Roland" de Philippe Quinault et Jean-Baptiste Lully, créée en 1685. Il cherche à préciser, dans une perspective historique et rhétorique, les moyens littéraires, musicaux et scéniques par lesquels sont rendus les excès du personnage furieux sur la scène classique du second XVIIe siècle. Le premier chapitre vise à rassembler les figures mythiques de la fureur dans une perspective d’ordre historique, des origines antiques aux diverses reprises dramatiques du répertoire français, en passant par la célèbre épopée de l’Orlando furioso, rappelant ainsi les bases de la topique de la fureur. Il s’intéresse également au développement d’une esthétique de la fureur propre au genre dramatique, ainsi qu’à son rapport au sublime, idéal d’expression classique.
Guidé par la question de la représentation et de ses effets sur le spectateur, le second chapitre propose une analyse rhétorique de la scène de fureur dans Roland. L’étude de cette scène en fonction des différentes parties de la rhétorique – inventio, dispositio, elocutio et actio – démontre qu’une dynamique de contraste et d’alternance entre force et douceur se situe au cœur de la rhétorique du dérèglement qui conduit les représentations de la fureur. / This dissertation addresses the representation of fury in Jean-Baptiste Lully and Philippe Quinault’s 1685 opera, Roland. It seeks to define the rhetorical means through which fury is conveyed on the classical stage of the second half of the XVIIth century, whether they be found in the music, text or staging. The first chapter considers the mythological figures of fury in a historical perspective, from ancient origins to the famous Orlando furioso and its numerous reinterpretations in the French dramatic repertoire, therefore gathering the basis of the topic of fury. This section also addresses the development of the aesthetics of fury, and its relation to the sublime ideal of classical expression.
Guided by the idea of performance and of its effects on the audience, the second chapter studies Roland’s wrath in a rhetorical perspective. Following the traditional rhetorical divisions – inventio, dispositio, elocutio and actio –, the study of this scene shows that dynamics of contrast and balance between strength and softness lie at the core of the rhetoric of disturbance which conducts the representation of fury.

Mokslinėje literatūroje sutinkama, kad tėvų-vaiko santykiai itin svarbūs vaiko asmenybės raidai, vėlesnei psichologinei jo sveikatai ir yra susiję su valgymo sutrikimų vystymusi. Tėvų globos bei kontrolės lygio sąsajos su įvairiais asmenybiniais ypatumais (tokiais kaip savigarba, polinkis į perfekcionizmą) tikrinamos atskirose studijose, tačiau nepavyko aptikti tyrimų minėtas sąsajas vertinusių toje pačioje imtyje. Taip pat klinikinėje praktikoje pastebima, kad valgymo sutrikimais sergantys pacientai pasižymi priešiškumu sau, arba yra linkę savęs nekęsti. Vis dėlto, mokslinių tyrimų, analizuojančių šias negatyvias į save nukreiptas emocijas, yra labai mažai, o mėginimų jas įvertinti kiekybiškai apskritai neteko rasti. Taigi šio tyrimo tikslas yra patikrinti suvoktos tėvų globos bei kontrolės lygio sąsajas su valgymo sutrikimais bei specifiniais asmenybės ypatumais: asmens savigarba, polinkiu į perfekcionizmą bei negatyvia emocine nuostata į save. Tyrime dalyvavo dvi respondentų grupės: valgymo sutrikimų turinčiųjų (N=39) ir kontrolinė (N=30). [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / In literature it is widely agreed that parental-child relations are especially important for development of child’s personality and for psychological health of a child. Parental-child bonding is also correlated with eating disorders. The correlations between parental care and control and various personality features of a child are checked in different researches. But we failed to find a study, where the aforementioned correlations had been tested in the same sample. Furthermore in clinical practice it is noticed that patients with eating disorders are tend to feel hostility to themselves as far as are prone to self-hatred. However there are few studies where such negative emotions to self is analyzed. And we failed to find a research where this issue had been analyzed quantitatively. So the aim of this study is to assess the correlations between conceived parental care and control, eating disorders and specific personality features: self-esteem, perfectionism and negative emotional attitude to self. There were two groups of respondents in this study. One of them consisted of women with eating disorders (N=39) and the other – of controls (N=30). Τα τελευταία χρόνια γίνονται αρκετές μελέτες πάνω σε συναισθηματικές εκφράσεις προσώπου. Σκοπός τους είναι η μελέτη της αντίδρασης του εγκεφάλου πάνω σε σχετικά ερεθίσματα, κάτι που βρίσκει εφαρμογή σε πολλούς τομείς, όπως οι Νευροεπιστήμες, η Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη και η Ψυχολογία. Διενεργούνται αρκετά πειράματα, τα οποία βασίζονται σε απεικονίσεις εκφράσεων προσώπου, οι οποίες συνήθως ομαδοποιούνται σε βάσεις δεδομένων με φωτογραφίες εκφράσεων προσώπου. Στην παρούσα Διπλωματική εργασία, γίνεται προσπάθεια αναβάθμισης υπάρχουσας βάσης δεδομένων με φωτογραφίες συναισθηματικών εκφράσεων Ελλήνων. Αρχικά μελετάται το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο των συναισθημάτων και των συγκινήσεων, καθώς και ο ρόλος τους στην ανθρώπινη συμπεριφορά. Στη συνέχεια δίνεται έμφαση στις βάσεις δεδομένων διαφόρων μελετών πάνω σε φωτογραφίες συναισθηματικών εκφράσεων του προσώπου, όπου και παρουσιάζεται ο τρόπος ανάπτυξης τέτοιων βάσεων. Η συνέχεια περιλαμβάνει την ψηφιακή ανάλυση των φωτογραφιών με τη χρήση λογισμικών πακέτων, δηλαδή τη μορφοποίηση και την ανάλυση χωρικών συχνοτήτων. Στην πρώτη περίπτωση επιλέγονται δύο συγκεκριμένα συναισθήματα και κατασκευάζονται καινούριες ενδιάμεσες (μορφοποιημένες) φωτογραφίες. Στη δεύτερη, εφαρμόζονται φίλτρα ως προς τη χωρική συχνότητα και προκύπτουν φωτογραφίες με χαμηλές και υψηλές χωρικές συχνότητες. Το σύνολο των φωτογραφιών που προκύπτει, αποτελεί τη βάση δεδομένων για το σύστημα διαχείρισης που κατασκευάζουμε. Πρόκειται για ένα πρόγραμμα που διαχειρίζεται ποικιλοτρόπως τη βάση δεδομένων και παρέχει αρκετές ευκολίες στον πειραματιστή στην έρευνά του. Στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος, αξιολογητές προσπαθούν να βρουν τι είδους συναίσθημα απεικονίζεται στις φωτογραφίες που βλέπουν. Η κάθε απάντηση των χρηστών αποθηκεύεται και μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί για στατιστική επεξεργασία. Απώτερος στόχος είναι να γνωρίζουμε ποιες φωτογραφίες αποτελούν ορθότερη αναπαράσταση για τα συναισθήματα που εν γένει απεικονίζουν, για να αποτελέσουν μια αρκετά αξιόπιστη βάση δεδομένων, η οποία θα μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί σε πληθώρα πειραμάτων. Identification of aggression in Junior Primary school learners often becomes a difficult task due to the lack of appropriate measuring instruments. The assessment instruments used presently are unable to identify the subtypes of aggression. In order to address this limitation in the field of aggression, the present investigation was undertaken.
A literature study was done where the concept aggression was defined and the relationship and differences between the subtypes of aggression (physical, verbal, reactive and proactive aggression) were examined. The factors that relate to aggression, namely, biological, personality, environmental and social, parental influence, frustration and media influences were identified. A reliable measuring instrument was developed to identify the four main subtypes of aggression in junior primary learners.
The results of the empirical investigation indicated that there were significant positive correlations between the subtypes of aggression. Gender and intellectual potential do not appear to have a significant bearing on childhood aggression.
The educational implications of the findings are discussed and guidelines regarding treatment of childhood aggression are given for both educators and parents. / Education Studies / M.Ed.

Spirituality is a neglected dimension in psychology, but has recently been growing in importance. Depression is a widespread phenomenon, worldwide, although presenting differently in different cultures, including South Africa. The aim of this study was to give an opportunity to those who have experienced spirituality and depression to voice their experiences in their respective contexts.
The ontological framework was postmodernism and the guiding epistemology was social constructionism. Qualitative research was the method of research selected, because it suited the aims of the research. The specific method of analysis was a "categorical content analysis". In depth interviews with eight participants from various faith backgrounds were conducted. The participants' stories were interpreted by the researcher in the form of themes. Recurring and pertinent themes were compared and discussed with other voices in the field, such as the literature and societal and cultural discourses.
The study facilitated rich, detailed and complex descriptions of people's experience of spirituality and depression. The researcher hopes the voice of this research will lead to new understandings of these phenomena in a South African context. / Psychology / D. Litt. et Phil. (Psychology)

Integrating a girl-child orphaned by aids in a reconstituted family: pastoral and other challengesMutasa, Gertrude Pazvichainda Stembile 01 1900 (has links)
Five years ago at the age of 14, Rutendo Chaibva was double-orphaned by AIDS. A "Family Post Bereavement Property and Responsibilities Disbursement Committee" assigned her uncle Eric Gara as "replacement parent". Rutendo and her " replacement mother" Gerlinda were co-participants in the Participatory Action Research Study. It started in a therapeutic relationship after the family experienced some difficulties in integrating Rutendo into the reconstituted family. Both the therapy and research conversations explored and identified several pastoral and other challenges that militated against the integration process. Rutendo and Gerlinda's road was littered with, among others, minefields of silence and tears, secrecy, multiple losses, unresolved bereavement, unfinished business, anger, fear, and groping for Christian fellowship. It was concluded that personal, family, pastoral and other challenges, and, HIV/AIDS related complexities had militated against the integration process. At the end, Rutendo and Gerlinda acknowledged that therapy and the research processes had impacted positively on the integration process that improved significantly. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M.
