Pertubations de la fonction symbolique dans la maladie d'Alzheimer et leurs consequences cognitives et affectives / Disturbances of the symbolic function in Alzheimer's disease and their cognitive and affective consequences

Gonzalez-Monge, Louis 20 February 2015 (has links)
Starting from the observation and experimental study of Alzheimer's disease early situations with association of hippocampal amnesia, anomia and constructive apraxia for projective space (S3A syndrome), we propose that the co-occurrence of cognitive and psychopathological disorders may be linked to a stiffening of the symbolic function, namely the reduction of the span of substitution of a signified item by signifiers. We examine this hypothesis about the cognitive impairment on the basis of the symbolic function as defined by Piaget. We extend it to psychopathological aspects starting with the symbolization and its transformations. The concept of symbolic distance is mentioned as a common denominator for all these processes, as a target for the stiffening of the symbolic function. It could be related to working memory impairment, causing:_ Proactively, a destructuration of atributional elements in the “broad semantic network”, contributing to the genesis of cognitive impairment._ Retroactively, because of the erosion of secondary mechanisms, an activation of archaic phenomena - including the anxiety of non-representation - and of the archaic defenses. Some psychotherapeutic implications are considered.

Allard, Émilie 01 1900 (has links)
This master’s thesis examines being-towards-death in Heidegger’s Being and Time in order to show to what extent the Heideggerian thought of death can be understood as a way of affirming life. Indeed, a reflection directed towards death allows human reality to be understood from its end, i.e., according to its finitude. It is a characteristic of human reality to always be "in the making", death being the limiting possibility which puts an end to this character of possibility. Such an understanding of oneself then allows the unveiling of the full range of possibilities of life with a view to the end. It is about understanding ourselves and our possibilities for what they are, that is, limited and finite. Consequently, their meaning is transformed, even revealed. Inauthenticity and authenticity are for Heidegger the two ways of facing death, two ways of experiencing one’s finitude. It is in authenticity that human reality will be itself and can live in full awareness of its finitude. On the other hand, human reality is initially inauthentic. This thesis will therefore start by recalling the basic characteristics of these two modes of being and of understanding the being of human reality and will then pay particular attention to the concepts of anxiety and flight. The trajectory will follow that of paragraphs 46 to 54 of Being and Time devoted to Being-towards-death. The final task will be to show how a thought of death makes it possible to see in a new affirmation of life the consequence of an authentic being-towards-death.

Revoltující člověk v próze Graciliana Ramose / The Rebel in Graciliano Ramos 'prose works

Homolková, Petra January 2013 (has links)
The main objective of this research is to study the affinities between Brazilian writer Graciliano Ramos (1892-1953) and French philosopher and writer Albert Camus (1913-1961). More precisely, we tend to explores the reflections of camusian revolt in three Ramos' prose works: Barren Lives (1938), Anguish (1936) and São Bernardo (1933). The literary and philosophical direction of existentialism is outlined at the beginning of the thesis. Therefore, the first chapter is devoted to an explanation of Camusian existentialism and his philosophical concept of revolt, not only in his philosophical works, but also in his novels. The subsequent chapter focuses on the life and work of Graciliano Ramos. Thereafter the three aforementioned Ramos' novels are analyzed in order to uncover in them motives of existentialism solitude, anguish, revolt against society ─ all of the more or less interlinked by the problem of incommunicability. Firstly, it is briefly explained the main characteristics of the chronicle genre, in which Veríssimo s humor it is manifested. The objective is to observe a certain relationship between genre and the object of study. Secondly, inside the risible context, it is pointed out not only the differences between the humorous and humor, based on the Pirandello s work (1996), but also the imprecisions which involve the humorous, according to Propp (1992) arguments and other authors, and the most part of them it is mentioned by him. It is exposed some of the humoristic characteristics used in the present study manifesting a ludic laughter and, above all, a reflexive laughter, which is proper of humor. Apart from that, an overview of Veríssimo s biography was developed, pointing out his mainly works, his way of writing and peculiar style. The referred chronicles which composed this research corpus were analyzed employing the language resources related to the humorous and humor. In order to conclude, anguish is presented not only as a strategy and a language phenomenon, but mainly as a powerful tool that the author makes use to critically portray situations which brings to light the anguish, the weakness and the human addictions, and also to provoke into the reader s mind a reflexive analysis on such situation / A dissertação tem por objeto de estudo a manifestação do riso e do risível, em crônicas de Luís Fernando Veríssimo, sobretudo em Bobos I (1982) e Ri, Gervásio (1987), que, analisadas à luz da teoria da comicidade e do humor, põem em evidência a ambivalência e a ambigüidade do riso, principalmente, sua face séria.

The main hypothesis is that the media has an oracular character. This reflection seems to be new within the Media Theory studies, and speculates that the future has a present event status. The oracles, or oracular character figures, when performing their predictions, design the future in the present, building scenarios that guide both the individual in his private life, as the society as a whole. The adopted methodological strategy sought to develop an archeology of the oracles in the West - especially the Oracle of Delphi, given its importance to the emergence of Western civilization and its institutions, including the media itself understanding them as backers of information, also a defining characteristic of the media. Researches concepts proposed by the Theory of Media in the reflections of Norval Baitello, Harry Pross and Flusser. Anxiety about the future is read from Soren Kierkegaard and Carl Gustav Jung. Within the concept of cultural anxiety Rafael Lopez-Pedraza, thinks the relationship of individuals and society in the future, this relationship also studied by Julian Jaynes in his deconstruction of the bicameral mind. Also Norbert Elias, who investigates what he calls a society of individuals. The hypothesis is tested trough media examples that analyze topics such as the economic crisis brought by the US housing bubble; Brazilian water crisis in 2015; and predictions about games results in sporting championships / A pesquisa procurou estabelecer uma relação direta entre seus objetos de estudo, o Oráculo e a Mídia.

The issues of the support and the psychological follow up of the infected children by the HIV/AIDS : study of two clinical cases of children who live in the unspoken or the secret of illness

Merzouk, Assia 10 June 2011 (has links)
During my research, I have the conducted a study on two children’s clinical cases, children aged 9-10, one living in a world where no one will speak about the illness and for the other in a world where the illness is a secret. My study is based on the following questions: How is the child infected by the virus, in both cases on the non spoken world and the secret world, living the anguish of death within their families ? How is that translated into the way they live within the family, particularly because they live between two cultures. Tools used are: drawing, D10, genograms and interviews. I propose that, depending whether or not he knows the name of his illness, the child will handle himself differently as he finds a way to defend against the anguish and anxiety of death. I also propose that living with this anguish of death will lead to a disruption in the way they live within their families. Based upon their different origins, the roots of these children living between two cultures, this can already generate differences and cultural conflicts. My analysis shows, first of all that the child living in the unspoken presents a regression in his fight against the anguish of death. Secondly, the child living in the secret builds many imaginary situations in order to fight this worry and anguish of death. Thirdly, the family and cultural conflicts present here by the game of transmissions, the denial of the illness and the omnipresence of the secret, crystallize the problems.

Graciliano Ramos : a dor e a náusea

Carvalho, Luciana dos Santos January 2009 (has links)
The present doctorate work on Brazilian Literature, entitled Graciliano Ramos: the pain and the nausea, consists on the analysis of four novels by Graciliano Ramos - Caetés (1933), São Bernardo (1934), Angústia (1936) and Vidas Secas (1938) - at the light of some basic precepts of the German Expressionism, with the aim of purposing a perspective's displacement with regard to the hegemonic speech from the historiography and the traditional literary criticism which see these works as the maximum expression from a certain region on a certain period, restraining them, therefore, to a sharp-cut cultural and socio-historical context. To the reading purposed here, however, these novels enlighten, on a concise language full of timeless meanings, the force of moral conviction of this writer who exhibits, through reality's deformation, an intense emotion with a whole burden of human pain prospection. As neurosis is a defense strategy in face of castration, which particularities in the desiring relationships could lead to one typical form of defense or another? If the obsessive conflict unfolds eminently in the level of thought and the phobic in the level of reality (in the relationship with the phobic object), what could generate this difference? Aiming at clarifying some aspects of the role of the real father in structuring the child’s neurosis, it is necessary to observe the very development of the paternal function in its real, symbolic and imaginary levels; the relationship of the father with several other elements of the family’s dynamics: the desiring dynamics in the parental couple, the way that each of them relates to the law, the elements that interfere in those relationships, how the circulation of the phallus takes place in each case, among others. We have decided to carry out a bibliographical research and selected the clinical cases ‘Little Hans’ and ‘Rat Man’ as the fundamental basis of our discussion, as we believe that the analysis of what is most particular can unveil universal aspects of each structure. Furthermore, we start from the principle that the Freudian text is not exhausted in its possibilities of surprising us and offering new questions. We utilize the Lacanian contribution (in an initial moment of his teachings) and another reading of those clinical cases. Authors such as Jerusalinsk, Julien, Dor, Ambertín, Gazzola, Melman, among others, are also summoned to enrich our discussion. We investigate the similarities and the differences in the way that the father, in each case, has performed his function, which is dual: restrainer and model of identification, as well as his possible consequences on the subject, the subject’s way of dealing with desire and castration. In phobia, to delimitate and allay the anguish, the subject needs to resort to the phobic object as a supplement to the paternal function that appears in an insufficient form in the relationship mother-son. This object comes to provide limits to the subject’s world, to demarcate points of danger and to serve as support to a series of symbolic-imaginary elaborations which can render possible a meaningful change, as in Hans’ case, in which there was an analytical intervention. In the obsessive neurosis, there is a subject tormented by recurring thoughts and driven to rituals as attempts of protection in face of danger, permanently in conflict with the phallic instance, oscillating between the wish of transgressing it and the devoted submission. A law that, for the obsessive has become difficult to elaborate, perhaps because it has been put in excessive or ambiguous way in the desiring context of the child. In the obsessive, the passage from the ‘being’ to the ‘having’ becomes more problematic due to the message of maternal dissatisfaction in relation to the husband. That makes it difficult to the subject to give up on his imaginary phallic identification, while at the same time he recognizes the existence and fears the instance of the law. As to the phobic, it can be that he has been more at the mercy of maternal desire, without a third instance to protect him of the risk of annihilation. ‘Killing (the father) or dying’ is the obsessive’s impasse. ‘Escaping (the maternal pleasure) is the phobic’s effort. This way, we attempt to bring our contributions, to recognize paradox and leave unanswered some questions that arise along the process and that can serve as a starting point to future research. ‘Escapar (do gozo materno)’ é o esforço do fóbico.
