Foram selecionados três pacientes jovens (9, 10 and 12
marginais, mantendo apenas as cúspides vestibulares.
As
As restaurações apresentaram desempenho adequado
Endodontic treatment (ETT) followed by direct composite resin restoration has
been used for rehabilitating the severely damage molar teeth in young patients.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the molar teeth with different
levels of the dental structure loss before and after the ETT and direct restoration
with bulk fill resin composite on the stress distribution and the bite force
magnitude. Three young patients (with 9, 10 and 12 years old), with the first
mandibular molar teeth with deep occlusal caries with pulp involvement were
selected attending with different levels of the dental structure loss: PI, both
marginal ridge and all cusps; PII, maintenance of one marginal ridge and loss of
one cusp; and PIII, loss of both marginal ridge, maintaining only buccal cusps.
ETT was restored using Filtek Bulk Fill Posterior (3M ESPE). The bite forces in
Newtons were measured initially and postoperatively for all teeth in habitual bite
force using a miniload cell. Cone-beam tomography imaging was performed, and
the Digital Imaging and Communication in Medice (.dcm) files were exported to
Mimics, 3-Matic (Materialise) and Patran (MSC Software) software to create a
patient-specific FEA models. Bite load was carry out using contact load applied
by antagonist teeth in two moments: without ETT and restoration: PI. 30.1/136.6;
PII. 34.3/133.4 and PIII. 47.9/124.1; and after restorative procedure: PI. 136.6;
PII. 133.4 and PIII. 124.1 N. Performing ETT and bulk fill resin composite
restoration the bite load increased 260% (36.7±11.6) to 131.9±17.8). The
restorations were evaluated after 2 years. Before rehabilitation the stresses
concentrated on weakened coronal dental structure and after rehabilitation they
were homogeneously transferred to root dentin, irrespective of the level of the
tooth structure loss. When the postoperatively bite load was applied on nontreated
tooth models, high stress concentration on weakened areas was verified.
The restorations performed perfectly after 2 years. The extensive caries with pulp
involvement affected negatively the bite load and increased the stress
concentration on weakened areas and at furcation favoring the tooth fracture. The
ETT and bulk fill resin composite restoration showed to be an efficient method for
rehabilitate the biomechanical performance of molar teeth of young patients
severely compromised structurally. / Dissertação (Mestrado)

The admissibility and evaluation of scientific evidence in courtFaurie, Annari 11 1900 (has links)
Increasing use is being made of various types of scientific evidence in court. The
general requirement for the admissibility of such evidence is relevance. Although
expert evidence is considered to be opinion evidence, it is admissible if it can assist the
court to decide a fact in issue; provided that it is also reliable. In South Africa, the
initial wide judicial discretion to either admit or exclude unconstitutionally obtained
evidence, has developed into a more narrowly defined discretion under the final
Constitution. Examples of scientific evidence, namely, DNA evidence, fingerprints,
psychiatric evidence, bite-mark evidence and polygraph evidence are considered and
problems inherent in the presentation of such evidence in courts in various jurisdictions
are highlighted. An investigation of the presentation and evaluation of evidence in
both the accusatorial and inquisitorial systems seems to indicate that the adversarial
procedure has a marked influence on the evaluation of evidence / Criminal and Procedural Law / LL.M. (Law)

Zhodnocení stability osteosyntézy po sagitální osteotomii větve dolní čelisti / Evaluation of the stability of osteosynthesis of mandibular ramus sagittal split osteotomyNieblerová, Jiřina January 2012 (has links)
Orthognatic surgery deals with congenital and acquired dentoalveolar or skeletal deformities of the face. An unfavourable downward rotation of a mandible and posterior vertical maxillary excess cause an anterior open bite, which is characterized by excessive anterior facial height in the lower third, a gap between the incisors in maximal occlusion and a large mandibular angle. Osteotomy (mainly Le Fort I osteotomy or bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of the mandibular ramus - BSSO), ostectomy or distraction osteogenesis are performed to correct the orthognatic deformities. Osteosynthetic materials based on titanium or bioresorbable materials are used in the form of miniplates with monocortical screws, or bicortical screws are utilized to fix the bony fragments. Stability of the new jaws position is the main criterion for success. Relapse causes a loss of occlusion and consequently functional and aesthetic disorders. Relapse consists of skeletal and dental factors. Skeletal relapse is usually divided into early and long-term relapse. BSSO with counter-clockwise (CCW) rotation of the occlusal plane alone was traditionally considered to be the least stable treatment method. Some authors suggest the use of two miniplates on each side of the osteotomy, but we have not found scientific proof of the...

Börspsykologiska bias & Diversifiering : En kvantitativ studie om privatinvesterares beteende under Covid-19 / Psychological biases & Diversification : A quantitative study about private investors'behavior during Covid-19Lindström, Anton, Sara-Joyce, Jonsson January 2022 (has links)
Background: The Corona pandemic has affected people’s everyday life as well as the financial markets. The big decline in the stock market that happened in February-March 2020 and the record fast recovery impacted private investors in a big way. Investors had difficult decisions to make during times of stress and worry, which does not always lead to optimal decisions. The investors could be more affected by biases during times of crisis. To avoid walking into the same traps again it is of investor’s interest to map psychological biases and how they affect the diversification in their stock portfolios. Eventual differences in behavior between the stock market decline in February-Mars and the one in October could be spotted by comparing the two periods. This would show if the respondents themselves learned from the first stock market decline to the second one, hence changing their behavior. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to map private investors’ behavior in the stock market during the Corona pandemic. This will make it possible to discuss private investors’ behavior during the stock market declines in February-March 2020 as well as the one in October the same year. This will make it possible to see differences in behavior. Method: The study used a survey study with cross-sectional design to be able to discuss private investors’ behavior at a general level. Conclusion: The study has shown that all studied psychological biases to affect private investors during the stock market declines, showing there are differences between these periods. If the respondents describe their own actions, then many of say themselves that they acted rational during the crisis, something that previous studies have shown. The diversification has also increased after the stock market declines compared to how it was at the end of 2019, but it is not certain that it is an effect of the stock market declines. There are also differences between demographic factors and experience from previous crises with regards to psychological biases and diversification.

A Pedagogy of Holistic Media Literacy: Reflections on Culture Jamming as Transformative Learning and HealingStasko, Carly 14 December 2009 (has links)
This qualitative study uses narrative inquiry (Connelly & Clandinin, 1988, 1990, 2001) and self-study to investigate ways to further understand and facilitate the integration of holistic philosophies of education with media literacy pedagogies. As founder and director of the Youth Media Literacy Project and a self-titled Imagitator (one who agitates imagination), I have spent over 10 years teaching media literacy in various high schools, universities, and community centres across North America. This study will focus on my own personal practical knowledge (Connelly & Clandinin, 1982) as a culture jammer, educator and cancer survivor to illustrate my original vision of a ‘holistic media literacy pedagogy’. This research reflects on the emergence and impact of holistic media literacy in my personal and professional life and also draws from relevant interdisciplinary literature to challenge and synthesize current insights and theories of media literacy, holistic education and culture jamming.
