Previous issue date: 2018-02-26 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Fundação São Paulo - FUNDASP / Introduction: The development of voice research has shown common interests in some areas of knowledge. Singing teachers and speech therapists have approached their knowledges and a joint work can provide a growth for all professionals involved with the singing voice. Objective: to analyze the joint performance of singing teachers and speech therapists in working with singers. Method: intentional sample with five singing teachers and five recognized speech therapists working with the voice of singers. These answered five semi-directed questions that were audio-taped and transcribed. The material was analyzed and categorized. Results: according to the audiologists interviewed, it is up to them to understand the context of the singer; diagnose and carry out actions of prevention and rehabilitation of the voice; work with the physiology and vocal structure. The singing teachers said that the role of speech therapist is to work with health and voice alteration. The vocal orientation was pointed out by the two groups of professionals. According to the singing teachers, their role is to detect the vocal alteration and refer to the other specialist. For speech therapists, only the singing teacher should do the vocal classification and tuning. Expressiveness, musicality, technique, choice of repertoire, style and vocal aesthetics were items indicated by both professionals to explain the role of the singing teacher. The role of adjusting the vocal structure in order to meet the demand was a response considered as the role of speech therapists and singing teachers. The performance among professionals is understood and can happen: independently or complementary and associated or still, with interaction, communication and continuity in the work with singers. Some aspects were mentioned that intercept the relations between these specialists in the performance with related singers: to the vocal well-being; to the context lived by the singers; the roles of professionals; the terminology used; the relevance of the specialty in the singing voice and the counterpoint between science versus art. Conclusion: singing teachers and speech therapists establish different and unique working relationships with singers, characterized by contact, exchanges of knowledge, referrals, support, recognition, joint action and interdisciplinary action. Both vocal teachers and speech therapists say they need to work together because they understand that the other professional can develop the vocal aspect or adjust the vocal apparatus of the singers identified in their evaluation with more precision, more effectiveness or more specificity / Introdução: o desenvolvimento da pesquisa em voz cantada tem mostrado interesses comuns por parte de algumas áreas do conhecimento.

Previous issue date: 2018-02-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Elza Soares is considered as one of the greatest singers in Brazil. She stands out in the Brazilian popular music scenario for her voice and unique interpretations. Objective: to analyze, from the perspective of the Phonoaudiology, aspects of the life history, career and characteristics of the voice of the singer. Methodology: the present thesis is composed of two different studies. In the first one, a literature review on the singer’s life and career was carried out, along with an interview performed with the artist, which was interpreted according to content analysis proposed by Bardin. Four thematic categories have been created due to the investigation: woman and society, protagonism, influences and musical genres and career, interpretation and voice. In the second study, five of Elza’s featured songs have been selected to be investigated through a perceptual-auditory analysis by judges, phonoaudiologists and singing teachers. Results: It was possible to notice from the first study that, although our focus is on a singer who was noteworthy because of her voice, Elsa herself does not consider it as the prominent fact to her career and success. In the second study it was observed that Elza has kept the adequate pneumophonoarticulatory coordination and articulation; pitch has varied from medium to high in songs like “Malandro”, “A Carne” and “Opinião” and medium to low in “Se acaso você chegasse” and “Maria da Vila Matilde”, hard attack (“Se acado você chegasse”, “Opinião” and “Maria da Vila Matilde”), soft attack (“Malandro”) and hard/sudden (“Carne”); laryngopharyngeal resonance with moderate nasal focus (“A carne, “Opinião” and “Maria da Vila Matilde”), laryngopharyngeal with nasal compensatory focus (“Se acaso você chegasse”) and balanced (“Malandro”). Concluding Remarks: The routes opened and taken by a black interpreter of several aesthetic affiliations and musical styles in the second half of the twentieth century have been presented in the present study. An attempt has been made to analyze the singer Elza Soares in a general overview of the Brazilian music on biographical, vocal and musical issues. The singer behaves differently in each of her interpretations and her vocal characteristics change according to the singing style and musical genre, for she has created an artistic intervention greater than her own singing, although the singing was the means to such great end / Elza Soares é considerada uma das grandes cantoras do Brasil, pois ela se destaca no cenário da música popular brasileira por sua voz e interpretações absolutamente únicas.

Previous issue date: 2018-02-26 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / Fundação São Paulo - FUNDASP / Introduction: Speech is one of the ways human beings use to communicate. It is a complex task and needs to be carried out in a coordinated, organized and planned manner. Some factors may impair speech, such as maxillomandibular disproportions, found in individuals with dentofacial deformities (FDD). The speech changes found in individuals with FDD are related to the production of sounds that move the lips and the tongue, such as fricative sounds. For a comprehensive evaluation of these changes or modifications, this research used perceptual-auditory analysis and acoustic analysis evaluations in an attempt to identify and thus understand the speech patterns of individuals with FDD. Objective: to verify the perceptive-auditory and acoustic characteristics of the speech of individuals with Dentofacial Deformities, seeking to analyze possible associations between the structural variations of the vocal tract and speech characteristics. Methods: Participants in this study were 28 subjects aged 16-50 years, with 18 participants in the research group (GP), 9 of which were male and 9 were female, and 10 were subjects of the control group (CG), 5 males and 5 females. All participants had their voices recorded through the Praat program. Perceptual-auditory judgments of the speeches were used through Vocal Profile Analysis Scheme-VPAS-PB, and for "acoustic analysis", the following parameters were used: duration, intensity, F1 and F2. Correlate the findings of the VPAS-PB with the acoustic analysis. Results: Individuals with FDD showed the predominance of stretched and diminished extensor lips, mandible with reduced extension, advanced tongue tip, lower tongue body, and less elevated larynx. The acoustic analysis showed an increase in duration and intensity in all fricatives, a change in the vertical relationship between the tongue and the mandible (F1) and the anteroposterior relationship of the tongue (F2) in relation to individuals without FDD. The DDF that presented the highest number of specific speech characteristics associated with the respective positions of their bone bases were Class II and Class III skeletal deformities. Conclusion: There are specific characteristics in the speech of individuals with FDD, which are associated with the structural variation of the vocal tract, and the evaluation of speech through perceptive-auditory analysis and acoustic analysis, can help in understanding the speech peculiarities of these individuals with DDF / Introdução: A fala é uma das maneiras que o ser humano utiliza para se comunicar.

Previous issue date: 2014-11-28 / INTRODUCTION: This paper has as its theme "Newborn Hearing Screening in a Public Maternity Hospital in Curitiba - PR: Determining Factors for non Adherence to Retesting". According to the 2010 IBGE Census, 5.1% of the population experiences some hearing difficulty. Under Law 12.303/10, it became mandatory to carry out the so-called "Newborn Hearing Test", in newborns before hospital discharge, in order to diagnose possible hearing problems by three months of age. When there is a risk indicator for hearing loss, for the mother or baby, auditory monitoring must be carried out through otoacoustic emissions during the 1st year of the baby’s life. It happens that many mothers do not appear for the hearing retest, thereby undermining the monitoring for these children. OBJECTIVE: To identify the determinants for non-adherence to retesting in neonatal hearing screening at a public hospital in the city of Curitiba-PR for mothers of newborns who presented risk factors for deafness but did not attend retesting. METHOD: 60 mothers of babies who missed the mandatory hearing retest for neonatal hearing screening (NHS) were interviewed. The mother's age, education, marital status, level of knowledge about screening, reasons for non-adherence to retest were the variables considered. The responses were entered into a spreadsheet and submitted to Fischer and Chi-squared tests at a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS: The predominant age range of the mothers was 20-29 years (41.67%); 51.67% were educated only to a primary level, and 46.67% to a high school level. Regarding marital status, 70% of the sample lived alone. All respondents reported that infants listened well, but 63.33% were unaware of the NHS. Among the respondents, 90% received no prenatal guidance or explanatory material about the OAE test; only 20% were targeted during hospitalization; 30% of the sample stated that they "forgot" to do the retest. No significant relationship between age, education and marital status for non-adherence to the retest was found. CONCLUSION: Among the reasons identified for non-adherence to the retest, a large number of participants did not see the needed value in retesting, since the mothers forgot the retest date. This fact allows us to infer that the lack of knowledge about neonatal hearing screening interferes with adherence to the program. However, age, education and marital status did not seem to interfere with the decision to retest and monitor the newborn’s hearing health. The concept of adherence to the retest requires greater analysis by multidisciplinary health professionals. These professionals should be sensitized to the problem because it is their responsibility to make mothers aware of the retest’s importance through knowledge, appreciation and participation in the program. Better communication between health care networks and mothers is needed; conducting informational and motivational campaigns for pregnant women; using standard civil media channels for better orientation about early detection of hearing impairment, since there is little knowledge about the subject.

and in Brazil it is no different. Due to the site's visibility, YouTube can be looked
as a possibility of expression for a person that is deaf, as it allows discourses,
made in sign language, to be registered. This study has the objective of
analyzing the discourses produced by deaf people and posted on YouTube
regarding the themes deaf culture, aspects of the living environment between
hearing and deaf and political manifestations. This study's content was
composed by 25 videos in which the deaf people manifested themselves about
deafness. The study offered us data and conditions to consider YouTube as a
tool to provide deaf people a new interactive space in their discursive
production by establishing interaction. In light of Bakhtin's theory of language, it
was possible to identify the social voices present in the discourses as well as
the change in otherness, dialogic, enunciation, heteroglossia and
responsiveness. With this study, it became possible to conclude that, on behalf
of YouTube, deaf people where able to establish a reason to value "being deaf",
which presents the possibility of reconstructing, through sign language, a new
opinion about deafness.

facial anthropometric and head posture evaluation. The sample consisted of 62
leukoderms children at ages between 7 years and 11 years and 11 months old. It
was carried out a speech-language selection and otolaryngologist evaluation,
followed by a nasal fibroscopy, leading to the participants classification into three
groups: nasal breathers, mouth obstructive breathers and mouth vicious breathers.
An oral facial anthropometric evaluation took place in order to determine the oral
facial measurements and proportions and the participants facial type; and the
computerized photogrammetric evaluation, followed by a physical examination in
order to verify the head position related to the horizontal. The data were descriptively
and statistically analyzed at the significance level of 5%. The comparisons among the
groups were done through the ANOVA variance analysis and the Kruskal-Wallis test;
the association between the variants was verified through the chi-square
independence test and the residual analysis of the chi-square; and the correlation
analyses was done by the Spearman s rank coefficient. The anthropometric
measurements and the oral facial proportions, as well as the head position, were
similar in the three groups. There was an association between the facial type and the
breathing mode/mouth breathing etiology. The significant associations were
braquifacial in the nasal breathers group and also in the obstructive mouth
breathers. A correlation between facial type and head position was not verified. In
this sense, it can be concluded, by the present study, that nasal and obstructive
mouth breathers of obstructive and vicious etiology do not present differences
concerning the studied craniofacial morphology aspects, except for to the facial type. / A respiração oral é freqüentemente associada a alterações no crescimento e
nasais, respiradores orais obstrutivos e respiradores orais viciosos.
As associações significantes
morfologia craniofacial investigados, exceto o tipo facial.

EFEITO DA ACUPUNTURA EM INDIVÍDUOS COM DESORDEM TEMPOROMANDIBULAR: AVALIAÇÃO ELETROMIOGRÁFICA, NÍVEL DE DOR E ASPECTOS PSICOLÓGICOS. / EFFECT OF ACUPUNCTURE IN INDIVIDUALS WITH TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DISORDER: ELECTROMYOGRAPHIC, PAIN LEVEL ASSESSMENTS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS.Borin, Graciele da Silva 03 March 2011 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) can be described as a set of joint and muscle disorders in the region orofacial. Its etiology has multifactorial causes, and may be caused by associations among postural, psychological and structural factors. The acupuncture, because of the whole body approach, is presented as a treatment option indicated for the treatment of TMD patients, since this involves physical and psychosocial aspects. Thus, this study proposes to evaluate the use of acupuncture as a therapeutic intervention in the TMD, verifying its effect on the electrical activity of masticatory muscles, on the psychological aspects of pain level in individuals with this disorder. The study included 40 women aged between 20 and 40 years, with reports of pain in the temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles. The first 20 volunteers were undergone to acupuncture twice a week for five weeks without interruption and after, they were reassessed. The results of these participants constituted the study group. The other volunteers received the treatment after the first group and their data, collected in the beginning and after 5 weeks without treatment, were utilized as control. The diagnosis of TMD was performed by applying the Diagnostic Criteria for Research of temporomandibular disorders (TMD-RD. Evaluations of the level of pain using a visual analog scale (VAS), severity index of Fonseca and the Craniomandibular Index and Electromyographic (EMG) assessment of masticatory muscles (masseter and anterior temporal bilaterally) were carried out. The evaluations were performed before (Av), soon after (R1) and after 10 session (R10) in the study group. The control group was evaluated at baseline (Av) and after 5 weeks (R10).The results of this study showed after acupuncture therapy 20% of the study group (SG) showed complete extinction of the diagnosis of TMD, while the control group (CG) retained 100% of individuals diagnosed with TMD. The results from the Axis I of RDC / TMD showed that SG has statistically significant increase in all mandibular movements, while in the CG there was a statistically significant reduction of these movements. Regarding the psychological aspects, evaluated by the Axis II of the RDC / TMD, it was verified a reduction in the intensity of chronic orofacial pain and improvements in physical symptoms including pain items in the SG, and the normal classification presented by 35% of participants at baseline rose to 60% at the reassessment. In the CG classification of mild symptoms increased from 10% to 30% and severe classification maintained their initial values. In the physical symptoms excluding pain items, the normal classification observed in 40% of participants increased to 75% after treatment. The severity of the disorder
assessed by the Fonseca and craniomandibular indexes showed a significant reduction in SG (p = 0.00 and p = 0.004, respectively). The CG showed no significant differences in these indexes assessments. The EMG results observed in the rest mandibular position demonstrated statistically significant reduction in the electrical activity values in the left temporal muscle (p = 0.0062) immediately after an acupuncture session (R1) and higher electrical activity in the temporal muscles in relation to the masseter, with statistical significance for the left temporal muscle. After treatment (R10) there was a decrease in the EMG at rest, with statistical significance in the temporal muscles, however, these muscles maintained their electrical activity above the masseter. The CG had a higher electrical activity in the temporalis muscles both in the assessment and the reassessment; with statistically increase in the left temporal muscle and left masseter with the prevalence of left temporal muscle. No difference was observed in CG and SG (R1 and R10) during the maximum intercuspal position of the masticatory muscles. In SG, during chewing, there was a statistically significant decrease of activity in the right masseter after treatment. There was no statistical difference during chewing and during left unilateral chewing between CG and SG in the R1. In the SG (R10) there was a statistically significant decrease in electrical activity of the left temporal muscle in left unilateral chewing. From this study, it can be concluded that acupuncture is an effective technique in reducing pain level, the severity index and the electrical activity at mandibular rest in individualswithTMD.

ESTUDO DO PAPEL DO CONTEXTO FACILITADOR, SEGUNDO DIFERENTES ABORDAGENS TEÓRICAS, NA AQUISIÇÃO DO R-FRACO POR CRIANÇAS COM DESVIO FONOLÓGICO / STUDY THE ROLE OF CONTEXT FACILITATOR, SECOND DIFFERENT THEORETICAL APPROACHES, IN R-WEAK ACQUISITION FOR CHILDREN WITH ARTICULATORY DISORDERSChecalin, Mardonia Alves 23 December 2008 (has links)
The aim of this research was verify the applicability of the favorable and neutral
environments, got from data of children speech without change of language, in the
treatment of children with Articulatory Disorders (AD). The diagnosis of AD was
obtained through phonological and complementary assessments. The study
participants were seven children of both sexes, with an average age of six years. The
inclusion criterion was that present, among the assessments made, changed result
only in the phonological assessment, have missing in the phonological inventory only
the phoneme /r/, being monolingual speaker of Brazilian Portuguese and not have
received prior speech therapy care. All the subjects received treatment for speech for
AD through the ABAB - Withdrawal and Multiple Probes Model, six had the /r/ treated
in Onset Medial (OM) and the two had /r/ treatment in Coda Medial (CM). In OM, was
studied the favorable environment according to surveys conducted through
generative, hand and neutral theoretical approach. In CM, was the studied favorable
environment and neutral, according to a survey conducted in generative approach.
From the results of treatment, a description and an analysis of the evolution therapy
were made. Data analysis was performed through the transcripts of phonological
assessments made before, during and after the therapy intervention. After comparing
the results of assessments among the subjects in an attempt to identify the
effectiveness of treatment, using the context in the AD and among the theoretical
approaches, that who promote more changes in the phonological system of the
subject. The results were not conclusive in relation to the most effective environment
in the treatment of AD, but indicated both in OM and in CM, that the neutral context
was more efficient than the favorable. These results led to interest in investigating, in
the speech subject data, the possibility of establishing new contexts based on
speech children data with AD. After the analysis of lexical items produced correctly
by seven subjects of this research, were identified different contexts of those used in
the words-target of the treatment. This finding suggests that the favorable linguistic
context, based on data from normality, not be applicable to children with AD. It is
suggested a research with speech children data with AD to suggest new linguistic
contexts to be used in speech therapy to promote the acquisition of the phoneme
earlier.
Participaram do

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / verify and correlate the acoustic vocal modifications of filter and glottal source, perceptual hearing, laryngeal, sound pressure level (SPL) and self-reported vocal sensations, after the phonation in a glass tube immersed in water (PGTIW), on adult women. Methods: observational study cross-sectional quantitative analytical, composed of 24 adult women, with ages between 18 and 40 years (average 23,04 years), without laryngeal affections (LA) and without vocal complaints, being 12 in the study group (SG) and 12 in the control group (CG). In the EG was held the collection of the vowel /a:/, measure of SPL, videolaryngostroboscopy (VLS), execution of the technique of PGTIW in three sets of the 15 repetitions and, immediately after, the collect of vowel /a:/, measure of SPL, VLS and reporting of sensations in relation to voice. In the CG, the same procedures were performed, but instead the implementation of technical, the volunteers remained in silence. Was performed vocal acoustic analysis with the programs Multi Dimension Voice Program Advanced and Real Time Spectrogram (Kay Pentax®). Judges speech therapyst performed the analysis of spectrographies, with specific protocol and hearing perceptual with the RASAT scale and judges otolaryngologists performed the analysis of the VLS. It was used the statistical tests Wilcoxon, Chi-square and Spearman. Results: On the SG: improvement of the smoothed pitch perturbation quotient (sPPQ), voice turbulence index (VTI), Shimmer percentage (Shim) and Shimmer in dB (ShdB); improvement of breathiness in RASATI; increase of the tracing darkening of the fourth formant, the definition of the first formant, the definition and the number of harmonics; increase the SPL and sensation better voice; in the VLS, the laryngeal vestibule constriction did not change significantly. Positive correlation between sensation better voice and the definition of the second and third formants and regularity the tracing; between measures of Shimmer and breathiness; between the fundamental frequency and maximum instability. Conclusion: in the group of women without laryngeal disorders and without vocal complaints studied, the technique generated a reduction of of vibration glottal aperiodicity and the noise, with consequent improvement of the glottal signal. In VLS, the laryngeal vestibule constriction did not change significantly, this suggests that the technique does not cause laryngeal hypertension.
