PTSD’s True Color; Examining the effect of a short-term coloring intervention on the stress, anxiety and working memory of veterans with PTSD.

Rodak, Jourdan A 01 January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study was to explore the effect a coloring condition had on minimizing anxiety and stress experienced daily by veterans. The effect that coloring had on working memory was also explored. A sample of 24 armed forces veterans were split into two coloring conditions, a mandala and a free draw condition, and asked to complete the Primary Care PTSD Screen, the Perceived Stress Scale and the Brief State Trait Anxiety Inventory. Working memory scores were established via a Backward Digit Recall task; pre-and posttest scores were evaluated for significant differences. Our research suggests the act of coloring, not the coloring condition, resulted in significant decreases in stress and anxiety and an increase in working memory. We also found that participants who suffer from PTSD displayed significant decreases in stress and anxiety and significant increases in working memory when compared to individuals without PTSD.

Tre fallstudier av kognitiv beteendeterapi vid smärtsam endometrios / Three case studies of cognitive behaviour therapy for painful endometriosis

Lindbäck, Malin January 2017 (has links)
Endometriosis is a common gynecological disorder which is often painful. Dispite several studies remarking on the high prevelence of psychiatric comorbidity among women with endometriosis, and that psychological treatments are recommended, there is very little research of psychological treatment of endometriosis. This study was explorative and investigated quantitative effects and qualitative details from three case studies of cognitive behavioural therapy for painful endometriosis. The treatment contained four components: psychoeducation, case formulation, behavioural change/exposure, and mindfulness. The treatment was given in a short form of five sessions. The treatments went well and reseaved positive evalutations from all patients. The results were mixed, but some improvements were noticed. One patient had at the end of the study elevated life quality, reduced depression, reduced catastrophizing, increased activity and reduced disability. The second patient described the treatment positively, but showed few changes apart from tendency to reduced catastrophizing. At the end of the study her results were affected by changes in her physical condition, which probably overshadowed any positive results from the treatment. The third patient had difficulties with following the treatment plan, and had a variable level of functioning. Problems arose with her measures, but the measures showed tendency to improved life quality, reduced catastophizing and reduced disability. The results of the study are promising and further development of cognitive behavioural therapy for painful endometriosis are suggested.

KBT-psykoterapeuters samarbete med PDT-terapeuter : PDT som alternativ potent behandling eller som en överflödig metod / CBT-psychotherapists collaboration with psychodynamic therapists : Psychodynamic psychotherapy as a potent alternative treatment or a redundant method

Gram, Bodil January 2020 (has links)

Marketing of Community-Based Tourism : A case study of Central Asia

Gansauer, Fiona January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to fill the research gap between marketing and community-based tourism, with using the Stakeholder Theory as intermediary. For this purpose, it is analyzed how the Stakeholder Theory can contribute to improve the marketing of community-based tourism. The online marketing approaches of destinations, community- based tourism providers, associations and Tour Operators in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan towards the international market are investigated. The platforms were analyzed in May and August 2021. A qualitative thematic content analysis of the used distribution channels (websites and social media) is conducted. Based on the results of each country, a cross-national analysis is performed. The outcomes of the study indicate that all countries have potential to improve their marketing concepts, as well as their approaches towards sustainability and collaboration. A few actors were identified, which can serve as example. The overall result shows that a well-implemented Stakeholder Theory, which is comprised of networks at different levels, can empower individual service providers, and therefore contribute to strengthen the online appearance of different actors, including those offering community-based tourism products.

Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy for antenatal depression: dropouts, adherence, symptom remission, and patient-satisfaction with the assessment interview.

Jonasson, Martin, Kullebjörk, Moa January 2022 (has links)
Antenatal depression (depression during pregnancy) affects 10–20% of pregnant women and involves risks for both the pregnant woman and the child. Research shows that internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) seems to be effective compared to conventional maternity care. The thesis was a correlational predictive study that was conducted within the randomized DANAstudy for ICBT during antenatal depression. An in-group design with repeated measurements was applied in which 40 women with antenatal depression participated. The purpose was to examine (a) patient-satisfaction with the assessment interview in relation to adherence, dropouts and remissionof depressive symptoms during ICBT treatment, and (b) compare changes in depressive symptoms against two previous studies. The result showed that a higher patient-satisfaction with the assessment interview significantly predicted a lesser reduction of depressive symptoms between screening and pre-measurement. No significant correlations were found between patient-satisfaction with the assessment interview and treatment adherence or dropouts. Conclusions should be drawn with great caution based on methodological limitations. The result also showed that depressive symptoms compared with the pre-measurement decreased significantly from the second weekly measurement in the treatment until the post-measurement week ten. This confirmed the results of previous studies. Future randomized trials may provide a basis for the development of assessment interviews and ICBT for antenatal depression.

Prenatal anknytning och mamma-barn bindning : En kvantitativ undersökning bland mödrar som genomgått internetbaserad kognitiv beteendeterapi för antenatal depression / Prenatal attachment and mother- infant bonding : A quantitive study among mothers who received internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy for antenatal depression

Henriksson, Hanna, Alani, Meryem January 2023 (has links)
In Sweden, about 10-20% of women suffer from depression during pregnancy or after childbirth. As previous research has given indications that depression can have a negative impact on prenatal attachment and mother-infant bonding, the aim of the essay is to investigate this in mothers who underwent internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) for antenatal depression. This paper was written in collaboration with the DANA randomized trial of ICBT for pregnant women with depression. The design was a prediction and correlation study that applies a within-group design with three measurement occasions: before and after ICBT treatment and 8-10 weeks after childbirth. The purpose of the essay was, among other things, to investigate which factors predict mother-infant bonding 8–10 weeks postpartum, the relationship between prenatal attachment and treatment outcome, and the relationship between change in depression and change in prenatal attachment during treatment. The results indicate that previous miscarriages and prenatal attachment before and after treatment could predict mother-child bonding 8-10 weeks postpartum. Prenatal attachment was not a significant predictor of change in depression level. Finally, the results indicate a significant relationship between change in prenatal attachment and change in depression before and after treatment.

Rhetoric in Dialectical Behavior Therapy: Healing Minds Through Argumentation

Zsembery, Celeste Lloyd 13 March 2012 (has links) (PDF)
The fields of psychology and rhetoric share the goal of improving human mental health and behavior through persuasion. This thesis traces the history of rhetoric and psychology theory, focusing on the parallel theories of Nienkamp's internal rhetoric and Herman's dialogical self. Both theories model the human mind as having multiple psyches that actively interact to interpret human experience and project human behavior. I conclude with a case study of anorexic patients using ethos, pathos, and logos in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), arguing that principles of rhetoric can help patients with mental disorders cognitively realign their thinking more effectively than drug treatments can.

Allusives Sprechen in Psychotherapien / Konversationsanalytische Untersuchung verdeckter Beziehungskommentare

Alder, Marie-Luise 26 August 2020 (has links)
This paper examines allusive speaking in psychotherapeutic conversations, with a focus on covertly insinuated criticism of the therapist. Allusion markers, which form a word or groups of words, are used to refer to another context. The present work focuses in particular on allusions that comment on relationships. These are hidden comments that address the recipient of the allusion. In politics, in flirting, in gossip or bribery, the linguistic practice whose resource is ambiguity is used. These are socially delicate situations in which the reputation of one depends on the judgement of the other. Using detailed transcripts from behavioural therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy (tiefenpsychologisch fundiert is a special modification of psychoanalysis in Germany) and psychoanalysis, the book shows how a covertly critical commentary by the patient follows a frustrating interaction experience. The commentary is realized by means of a narrative that contains allusion markers that refer to the current context. The subsequent statements of the therapists show that they understand the relationship-commenting function of the narrative. Nevertheless, the meaning of the narrative continues to be ambiguously negotiated. With the method of conversation analysis (CA), which originates from ethnomethodology, sociology and linguistics, the course of interaction between patients and therapists is examined in detail, findings are derived and presented using transcript fragments. It becomes clear that the interaction history of the interactants is incorporated into utterances and its interpretation. If psychotherapeutic theory and practice are open to such phenomena can be recognized: Relationship-relevant utterances and utterances that are not intrasubjective but determined by the current scene of the conversation that is co-constructed by the interactants.
