A romanização no Espírito Santo: D. João Nery (1896-1901) / The romanization in Espírito Santo: D. João Nery (1896-1901)Brito, Eliane Maria 03 December 2007 (has links)
The present dissertation tackles the subject of Catholic Church\'s project of Romanization in Espírito Santo during the administration of dom João Batista Corrêa Nery, Espírito Santo\'s first bishop, and political and social interference of the Romanization politics. De Buenos Aires a Misiones: civilização e bárbarie nos relatos de viagens realizadas à terra do mate (1882 - 1898) / From Buenos Aires to Misiones civilization and barbarism in the travel reports made to kill the earth (1882-1898)Aranha, Bruno Pereira de Lima 08 May 2014 (has links)
This research is a proposal for analysis of reports made by travelers that, starting in common region - Buenos Aires - went to Misiones, in northeastern Argentina, and published texts on the region between 1882 and 1898.Through these reports, we have the intention to develop a greater understanding of the vision that the authors had about Misiones. One of the guiding points of this work is the transposition of the opposition center versus periphery to a new space: the american. That is, the opposition used to oppose Europe, the \"center of the civilized world\" in relation to America; it would be a place that still \"lacked civilization\", whichis transported to this new space. From then, within Argentina itself, we have a center (Buenos Aires) and a periphery (here represented by Misiones). In this new space, this dichotomy suffered appropriations and recreations which are analyzed in the course of this work.

Intensificação agrícola e complexificação social: uma perspectiva bioantropológica de populações pré-históricas do litoral dos Andes Centrais / Intensification of agriculture and social complexity: a bioanthropological perspective of prehistoric populations from coastal Central AndesLanfranco, Luis Nicanor Pezo 14 May 2015 (has links)
From a comparative bioarchaeological perspective this research addresses the issue of changes in subsistence patterns associated with the intensification of agriculture on the coast of the Central Andes and their implications to the social complexity process. Markers of oral pathology and nutritional stress were examined, along with stable isotopes, and other paleodietetic and archaeological data of 09 prehistoric coastal populations dated to the Formative period (~3000-1 BC). The results show that the predominance of rich carbohydrate diets is very old in the region, also on shoreline settlements, and the process of complexity was based in agriculture as an economic basis. The theocratic societies of 3rd and 2nd millennium BC flourished based on agriculture of tubers, legumes, fruit trees and corn in smaller quantities (below 20%), using farming techniques highly adapted to the aridity of the Pacific basin valleys. A drastic change in the Andean coastal diet occurred between 500-1 BC, when the corn became the main regional staple concomitant to the appearance of secular governments

AnimaliaUnknown Date (has links)
The novel Animalia is the representation of not just human relationships, but
also, of human beings’ relationships to other animals. While the story revolves around
a family, the narrative as a whole is meant to bring the reader into a microcosmic
ecosystem. Essentially, I am examining an ecosystem. An ecosystem, not in the
traditional sense, but an ecosystem nonetheless, because the narrative is a study of how
varying species of heterotrophs interact with one another for both physical and
emotional sustenance. Russell Water’s story is paramount, but the animals’ affect on
one another is what lies below the peak and forms the mountain (an unintentional
Hemingway reference). “It has often been observed that an object in a story does not
derive its density of existence from the number and length of descriptions devoted to it,
but from the complexity of its connections with the different characters” (Sartre 1210).
Essentially, through complex and multiple connections between the human species and
other species within Kingdom Animalia, I am attempting to develop an “ecosystem” that allows for narrative progression and the interconnection of relationships and
thematic elements which range from the capitalistic class system to natural selection. / Includes bibliography. / Thesis (M.F.A.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2014.. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

Previous issue date: 2018-03-15 / This study maps the issues found inside of the cyberspace as well as the
historical concept of ethics and morality. Within its first section, the main
features of the cyberspace and social behaviour in the cyberspace are
examined; thoughts and concepts of famous philosophers such as Aristotle,
Thomas Aquinas, Kant, Hegel, Durkheim, Weber, Freud e Nietzsche are also
discussed. The core objective of this mapping is to understand the
dimensions and associations linked to the concept of ethics and morality. It
also touches upon key questions such as the notions of: truth, good and evil,
moral conscience, beauty as a virtue, as well as ethic, material and aesthetic
values. Lastly, a model for analysing these notions and concepts with
observations found in the cyberspace is proposed, based on the ideal type

O mundo interligado: poder, guerra e território nas lutas na Argentina e na Nova Zelândia (1826-1885) / Connected worlds: political power, war and territory in the struggles in Argentina and New Zealand (1826-1885)Passetti, Gabriel 01 September 2010 (has links)
One of the major objectives of the research is the comprehension of , and freedom, and joining in trade networks. The comparison between a British white settler colony and a republic, and Salinas Grandes in Argentina. Associated by settlers, and their own existences as independent were suppressed. The sources analyzed were travel accounts, and willing to defend their own authority, as the King Movement in New Zealand, as whell as the Maori and pakeha in New Zealand, claim, exposed how ideas, from 1826 to 1885. During this time, laws and peace treaties., letters, military and the government to barbarism, native Chiefs united themselves in organized resistance confederations, people and products circulated through the globe. Facing major liberal interests in their lands, recently independent, reports, social and commercial relations between the indigenous peoples of Argentina and the criollos, sovereignty, the political power balance changed from a clear native superiority, their land to the markets, then, they lost their territory to official government jurisdiction, they were attacked by professional armies and their modern guns, This research are focused on comparisons on political, to a draw in the 1850s and, transports and communication. The Nazi moral: an analysis of the process that transformed crime in virtue in Hitler\'s GermanyGuterman, Marcos 13 December 2013 (has links)
Germany, under the Nazi regime, experienced a process of moral inversion which, combined with other factors, such as nationalism and racism on a scale never seen, led the country to commit crimes without parallel in History. Using the theoretical basis offered by Hannah Arendt and analyzing the diaries written by Germans directly involved with Nazism either as militants, as supporters or as critics this research aims to contextualize this process, discussing how a sophisticated and developed society was caught by the idea that its survival ultimately depended on the destruction of the Other, that is, the people who did not belong to its ideal of civilization and humanity. The work also aims to observe that the moral inversion was so complete and comprehensive that also involved victims and prevented the arising of any form of organized resistance. Emphasis will be given to the role of the völkisch movement, that mixed nationalism and romanticism in doses sufficient to transform violence in value, and to the role of the bureaucracy, which turned the murder into a task like any other, relieving consciences and thus enabling genocide.

De além do princípio de prazer ao além do princípio de desempenho: ressonâncias da teoria das pulsões no pensamento de Herbert Marcuse / From beyond the pleasure principle to beyond the performance principle: echoes of the drive theory in Herbert Marcuses thinkingMuniz, Polyana Stocco 12 November 2010 (has links)
The present work aims to debate the insertion of the drive theory in Herbert Marcuses thinking, as per, more specifically, this authors work Eros and Civilization: a philosophical inquiry into Freud published in 1955. Approximately three decades before this Marcuses publication, Freud had published a work which articulated his thinking as a whole: the essay on the hypothesis of the death drive. The great repercussion of the former work, in both clinical and cultural terms, made psychoanalysis advance in themes such as masochism, compulsion to repetition, crowd psychology and destructivity, besides having discussed human cultural development within its possibility of guaranteeing communal life in the face of a drive, which goes beyond pleasure principle. Nevertheless, the approach of this new concept provoked many reviews in the psychoanalysis area one of which we can highlight. Questions related to socialism were examined, as they referred to the immutability of the condition of the death drive. However, the proposals of this Neo-Freudian Revisionism which tried to merge Marxism and psychoanalysis, terminated in the extirpation of the theory of drives and generated an opposed movement to the previously accepted eroticization of psychoanalysis. As Marcuses work criticized such a popular trend at that time, it renewed the dilemma: how to insert metapsychology, particularly the death drive concept, in the context of the researches carried out in the Institute of Social Research of Frankfurt which was fundamentally Marxist? The author reallocated psychoanalysis in the midst of critical debate on culture, and also renewed another inquiry that is linked to the death drive: would the relationship between dominance and progress really constitute the principle of civilization? In this context, this research discussed the following points to clarify the echoes of the drive theory in Marcuses thinking: a) by trying to elucidate Marcusean critical theory to the Neo- Freudian culturalist schools; b) by analyzing some elements in the concept of death drive in Freuds work; c) ultimately, by understanding the outcome of death drive in Eros and Civilization: a philosophical inquiry into Freud. Furthermore, we can point out that Marcuse focused the debate about culture on the conflict between the principles of pleasure and reality. Still, the author did not discredit death drive itself in his analysis, but its mechanisms in a reality led by performance principle if compared to the previously referred drives action conducted by a beyond the performance principle, as the death drive would be nonexpressive after tension had been released. Also, the conclusion of that book was examined, as death drive is not only tension release. Moreover, that work insisted on the point that the dynamics of civilization can be considered a denial of the individual. The proposition of a utopia was questioned afterwards by the author himself. Thus, his assertion remained a critical one as Marcuse understood the denial of the existent in his own concept of psychoanalysis, that is, the revelation of the negation of the individual
