Proactive Command Proxy : Simplifying the use of Proactive Commands / Proxy för Proaktiva Anrop : Ett förenklande av användningen av Proaktiva Anrop

Nee, Amanda January 2023 (has links)
With phones becoming more and more advanced telecom operators findthemselves in need of interacting with the operating system of the customersphone more and more. They also prefer to do this with their own infrastructureinstead of through an app that relies on the operating system developer. Thesolution is called proactive commands which is a way for the SIM card to talkto the operating system among other things. This project explores two ways tomake it possible for an operator to through SMS secured by Secure Protocol80 send arbitrary proactive commands to the operating system of a device.Resulting in a JavaCard applet with a two command interface able to run andpoll the result of a proactive command.

Fleets and Prouinciae in the Roman Republic : institutions, administration and the conceptualisation of empire between 260 and 49 B.C

Day, Simon Christopher January 2014 (has links)
This research examines how, when and why the Romans assigned and defined the tasks of preparing and commanding fleets during the Republic. In doing so, it brings new evidence to bear on the wider debates about the nature of the prouincia and the institutional and administrative development of the Roman empire. The communis opinio is that a prouincia originally represented a functional “sphere of operation” that was allotted or assigned to a magistrate and that it only later developed a geographical meaning with territorial connotations through the process of “provincialisation.” This research challenges that view through an analysis of the evidence for the definition, assignment and practical use of the prouincia classis and other prouinciae connected with the command of fleets. Drawing upon and analysing the lists of administrative arrangements to be found in the “annalistic” sections of the surviving books of Livy’s History, it argues that prouinciae were defined in specific geographical and functional terms long before the development of permanent territorial empire. This offers a new perspective which points to and elucidates the flexible use of the prouincia as a means of separating magistrates and promagistrates in space or by function in space. It argues that the rationale for this was to limit conflicts between commanders over command and triumphal rights. By combining evidence from a wide range of sources after the loss of Livy’s History from 167, the research shows that the above rationale for demarcating prouinciae still applied in the first century B.C. However, it also demonstrates that there were significant changes with the assignment of vast Mediterranean-wide naval prouinciae in the first half of the first century B.C. It argues that the definition of these prouinciae was made possible by the development of a singular collective Mediterranean-wide ora maritima, which was brought about by the Romans’ increasing “acknowledgement of empire.” The negative political and institutional implications of these developments are also assessed. Finally, in discussing the above, this research also provides new insights into the role and auctoritas of the Senate, the function and freedom of magistrates, and the Romans’ conceptualisation of their empire.

Speech recognition software: an alternative to reduce ship control manning

Kuffel, Robert F. 03 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / This study identifies factors affecting the performance of commercial-off-the-shelf speech recognition software (SRS) when used for ship control purposes. After a review of research in the feasibility and acceptability of SRS-based ship control, the paper examines the effects of: "A restricted vocabulary versus a large vocabulary," Low experience level conning officers versus high experience level conning officers, "Male versus female voices," Pre-test training on specific words versus no pre-test training. Controlled experimentation finds that: "The experience level of a conning officer has no significant impact on SRS performance." Female participants experienced more SRS errors than did their male counterparts. However, in this experiment, only a limited number of trials were available to assess a difference. "SRS with restricted vocabulary performs no better than SRS with large vocabularies." Using the software "correct as you go" feature may impact software performance. Following the user profile establishment, individual user training on two specific words reduces error rates significantly. This study concludes that SRS is a viable technology for ship control and merits further testing and evaluation. / Lieutenant, United States Navy

L'expression de l'interdiction en russe moderne / Prohibitive Commands in Modern Russian

Vialaron, Laurence 28 September 2018 (has links)
This thesis is dedicated to prohibitive commands in modern Russian and studies the various speech strategies expressing negative commands. Prohibitive speech acts correspond to compulsory and performative utterances urging the non-accomplishment of an action perceived as undesirable by the speaker. Due to this utterance, the addressee has no other option than compliance, which was not the case before.Prohibitive commands are expressed at various communication levels and by a wide range of linguistic means: pragmatic, syntactic or lexical.Besides performative utterances, prohibition can be expressed by utterances with a prohibitive illocutionary force, including indirect speech acts. Although negative commands can be expressed by various strategies, they are not interchangeable. On the one hand, any negative command cannot be used in all contexts and in addition, the registers are different. On the other hand, the disparities in the illocutionary force of command of the various prohibitive strategies could be established. The illocutionary force of a prohibitive command both results from the selected linguistic strategy, but also from the means of modulation that can be used. This study enabled us to establish a typology of negative commands. The latter can be displayed in three categories: utterances whose prohibitive meaning occurs exceptionally, usually prohibitive utterances and invariably prohibitive utterances. Furthermore, the evolution of the Russian language has to be taken into account, among others by a contamination effect from European languages. This evolution leads to a less frequent resort to the strongest prohibitive commands, as well as to the increasing use of politeness strategies.

Модел бежичних акустичких сензора за командовање гласом у паметним кућама / Model bežičnih akustičkih senzora za komandovanje glasom u pametnim kućama / Model of wireless acoustic sensors for voice commands in smart homes

Četić Nenad 05 June 2020 (has links)
Due to the reverberation of indoor speech, there is a problem that the recorded signal contains more echoes and noise than direct sound. This problem is solved by applying different algorithms based on signal from microphone arrays and microphone grids. Based on the analytical model of the reverberated space, a system of distributed acoustic sensors was realized to support voice communication in smart home environment. Results show that simple<br />distributed sensors can achieve recognition performance similar to those found in state&ndash;of-the-art systems available on the market.</p>

The Effect of Video Self-Modeling on the Compliance Rates of High School Students with Developmental Disabilities

Figueira, Jacob Ammon Aukai 19 July 2007 (has links) (PDF)
People with developmental disabilities must develop the ability to maintain socially acceptable behavior in order to become contributing, accepted members of society at large. Research indicates that compliance, or following directions, is a keystone behavior, which, if learned, may significantly decrease the occurrence of behavior difficulties in students. Many studies of individuals with disabilities have shown a dramatic increase across a wide range of academic and social skills using video self-modeling (VSM), a technique in which students watch edited videos of themselves performing skills correctly or at high rates. Despite the importance of compliance for individuals with disabilities and the success of video self-modeling, little research has been done regarding the effect of VSM on compliance. In addition, VSM has been used mainly with elementary school-age students. This multiple baseline study examined the effect of video self-modeling on the rates of compliance in three high school-age students with developmental disabilities. Participants' compliancy rates increased after implementing video self-modeling. Mean latency to compliance also decreased for all participants. Study results indicate that video self-modeling may be an effective method for increasing compliance and decreasing compliance latency in high school students with developmental disabilities.

Undervisning inom ämnet CAD på gymnasiets teknikprogram : En studie baserad på intervjuer genomförda med lärare / Teaching CAD in Swedish High School's Technology Program

Ervasti, Esa, Mathew, Stephen January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to investigate what knowledge students develop and through which teacher activities the knowledge development takes place within CAD (Computer-Aided-Design). The study is based on a qualitative analysis of interviews conducted with seven different teachers who all teach in the senior high school's technology program in grades 1 and 2. The results show that students learning can be linked to teachers CAD knowledge. Knowledge development follows a hierarchical structure where command knowledge is a prerequisite for students to develop procedural knowledge and further development of higher strategic knowledge and creative thinking. The teachers strive for the students to develop a more independent learning. Students will also learn to prepare for a more professional environment by being able to use common protocols and standards. The results indicate that, during the CAD teaching, the teachers transfer their expert knowledge to the students through planned exercises, laboratory work and visualizations in CAD. Furthermore, teachers support student through feedback, individual/group adaptations in various forms, dialogues and through digital support. Collaboration occurs in different forms where students learn to work with each other and develop knowledge together. The teachers' collegial cross-disciplinary collaboration is also described as an important form of CAD teaching.

Automating the monotonous workflow : Mobile application development and deployment / Automatisera det monotona arbetsflödet : Mobil applikationsutveckling och distribution

Vakilalroayayi, Ahmadreza January 2021 (has links)
To create, update, or deploy a mobile application, a collection of hand-operated works must be satisfied. In this project, regardless of the mobile application's code and its core functionalities, which can be an e-book, an application, or even a mobile game, we will study how to automate, visualize and simplify the following manual procedures: 1.Create a remote Git repository for the mobile application. 2.Constructing or altering the mobile application's configuration or graphical contents. 3.Push all changes to the remote Git repository. 4.Deploy or distribute the mobile application from its Git repository after each push. 4.
