Silva, Fernanda Martins da January 2020 (has links)
In addition, it intends to contribute to the discussion about the role, or not, of Computational Thinking in Basic Education, because many skills are close to mathematical concepts and the process of teaching and learning through Computational Thinking can contribute to the performance of Basic Education students. The importance of seeking an improvement in student performance is based on the assessment carried out by the International Student Assessment Program (PISA 2015), which pointed out that students face great difficulty in issues that consider basic guidelines and formulas, the majority of whom are attending High School and trying to join Higher Education. Based on that, this research explores arguments to justify the inclusion of Computational Thinking skills in Basic Education, specifically in the Mathematics subject. Being a qualitative research, this investigation used the Content Analysis methodology to analyze the official documents as a complement to the potential Computational Thinking skills explored by them. Mathematics questions of the admission exams to join public Higher Education, such as ENEM and the admission exams of state universities of São Paulo, such as USP, UNESP and UNICAMP, for the y... Blicken på undervisningsbegreppet i lokala styrdokument : En diskursanalys av hur undervisningsbegreppet skrivs fram i förskolans lokala styrdokument / With the gaze on the concept of teaching in local policy documents : A discourse analysis of how the concept of teaching is projected in local policy documents

Waite, Carl, Wallander, David January 2020 (has links)
When the new curriculum for preschools Lpfö 2018 was released and the concept of teaching was introduced, it wasn’t without debate. Since then two years have passed and the work with understanding what the concept of teaching is, in relation to Swedish preschools is still ongoing. We are interested in how the concept of teaching is projected in local policy documents, and its relation to the concept of learning. To do so we asked the following questions: How is the concept of teaching being projected in local policy documents? How is the relationship between the concept of teaching and the concept of learning being projected? We have conducted a qualitative study with a social constructive onset where language is seen as a social construction. We collected seven different local policy documents that were the objects for analysis. The analysis was made through a discourse analysis. In our study we found that the concept of teaching isn’t given a lot of room in the local policy documents, in terms of a being defined in a deeper sense. Nevertheless, there are big variations in how the different practices write about the concept in local policy documents. Some already use the concept of teaching as a given, while some are still working with the understanding of what it is or simply don’t mention it. Another finding of ours is an overture towards the school-discourse, but at the same time a resistance towards that and a will to make the concept of teaching something new in relation to pre-school discourses. Another result we found is that when the concept of teaching is being used the teacher’s role becomes more prominent, while the teacher’s role is more inexplicit when the concept of learning is being used.

Automatic Transcription of Historical Documents : Transkribus as a Tool for Libraries, Archives and Scholars

Milioni, Nikolina January 2020 (has links)
Digital libraries and archives are major portals to rich sources of information. They undertake large-scale digitization to enhance their digital collections and offer users valuable text data. When it comes to handwritten documents, usually these are only provided as digitized images and not accompanied by their transcriptions. Text in non-machine-readable format restricts contemporary scholars to conduct research, especially by employing digital humanities approaches, such as distant reading and data mining. The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate Transkribus platform as a linguistic tool mainly developed for producing automatic transcriptions of handwritten documents. The results are correlated with the findings of a questionnaire distributed to libraries and archives across Europe to expand our knowledge on the policy they follow regarding manuscripts and transcription provision. A model for a specific writing style in Latin language is trained and the accuracy on various Latin handwritten pages is tested. Finally, the tool’s validation is discussed, as well as to what extent it meets the general needs of the cultural heritage institutions and of humanities scholars.

Ein Werkstattbericht: die Übernahme unstrukturierter Dateisammlungen im Stadtarchiv München

Baumann, Daniel 27 May 2022 (has links)
The Munich City Archives have a digital archive in operation since 2016 and since then take over digital data from the city administration of the state capital and from private sources, although the latters still are rare. The most common form of digital accessions are unstructured file collections. As a rule, these cannot be transferred into the archives’ repository without preparatory work. The article attempts to show the challenges unstructured file collections present us with when archiving, and how we analyze and evaluate such accessions in the Munich City Archives, supported by numerous software-tools, in the so-called pre-ingest and how we prepare them for the ingest.

They May Face Both Spit and Derision on Their Way Here : A Qualitative Study on How School Counselors at Upper Secondary Schools Act Toward and Work with Adolescents with Gender Nonconforming Identites

Dahlberg, Tindra, Nilsson, Cornelia January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine school counselors experiences of meeting and working with adolescents with gender nonconforming identites. The study was based on two research questions which were stated as following: What do school counselors at upper secondary schools believe is essential when working with students with gender nonconforming identites? And is there access to regulatory documents or general material for school counselors to use when meeting students with gender nonconforming identites? And what are the school counselor's opinions on that being implemented? We decided to do a qualitative study and conducted six interviews with school counselors operating in six different upper secondary schools in Sweden. In addition to the interviews we decided to further our research to provide us with a global perspective using previous research as well as theories related to the purpose of the study. The results showed that school counselors found trust, continuity, confidentiality, situation based treatment, equality and gender inclusive language as most relevant to ensure students with gender nonconforming identites feel safe and accepted botn at school and as well as the counselors office. We also found there to be little to no regulatory documents or general material for school counselors to use when meeting students with gender nonconforming identites and the opinions among the informants were scattered where some had a positive take on it and others were critical.
