In this work we present a proof that the Hilbert s Tenth Problem is unsolvable. This problem is to give a computing algorithm which will tell of a given polynomial Diophantine equation with integer coefficients whether or not it has a solution in integers. We start developing some topics of basic number theory, that will be useful at some time. In this part we prove only main results. After that, we study Diophantine equation as well as Diophantine functions. Then, we prove a serie of lemas that will be useful to proof that the exponential function is Diophantine. From there, we define the concept of recursive function and prove that a function is Diophantine if and only if it is recursive. Finally we prove the Universality Theorem. We use this last theorem to proof that the Hilbert s Problem is unsolvable. / Neste trabalho apresentamos uma demonstração da insolubilidade do Décimo Problema de Hilbert, que investiga a existência de um método para determinar se dada uma equação Diofantina qualquer podemos determinar se esta tem ou não uma solução. Começamos desenvolvendo alguns tópicos de teoria de números, que serão úteis em vários momentos, nesta parte demonstramos apenas os resultados principais. Em um segundo momento, passamos ao estudo das equações Diofantinas bem como das funções Diofantinas, que permeiam nossos resultados. Em seguida, demonstramos uma série de lemas que servem de base para mostrarmos que a função exponencial é Diofantina. A partir daı, passamos a definição do importante conceito de função recursiva e então demonstramos que uma função ser recursiva é equivalente a ser Diofantina. Finalmente, demonstramos o Teorema da Universalidade que servirá de base para a demonstração o da insolubilidade do Décimo Problema de Hilbert. / Mestre em Matemática

First in this dissertation we make a brief overview about basic tools of commutative algebra required for understanding the rest of the text. Then, we present the definition of symbolic powers and we discuss their basic properties, mainly emphasizing questions such as primary decomposition and calculation of generators. We conclude this work by showing actual results that relate the symbolic powers with other notions in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. / Nesta dissertação fazemos inicialmente um breve apanhado sobre ferramentas básicas de álgebra comutativa úteis para o entendimento do resto do texto. Em seguida, apresentamos a definição de potências simbólicas e discutimos suas propriedades mais elementares, destacando sobretudo questões como decomposição primária e cálculo de geradores. Finalizamos o trabalho mostrando resultados atuais que relacionam as potências simbólicas com outras noções da álgebra comutativa e geometria algébrica.

Often mathematics is seen by high school students as a science restricted to memorizing formulas and concepts. Therefore limiting in its essence. The work seeks to reverse that view by submitting a new eld of study: Tropical Algebra. Relatively new area of mathematics that keeps the curious feature to handle the operations of addition and multiplication di erently from traditional, already presents interesting practical results. Tropical algebra will be presented in a didactic way, comparing it with the traditional algebra, showing the consequences of tropical operations in the study of polynomials, matrices and geometry, and presenting some practical applications. / Frequentemente a matemática é vista pelos alunos do ensino médio como uma ciência restrita à memorização de fórmulas e conceitos. Portanto, limitante em sua essência. O trabalho busca reverter tal visão através da apresentação de um novo campo de estudos: A Àlgebra Tropical. Área relativamente nova da matemática que guarda a curiosa característica de tratar as operações de adi- ção e multiplicação de forma diferente da tradicional, já apresenta resultados práticos interessantes. A Àlgebra Tropical será apresentada de forma didática, comparando-a com a álgebra tradicional e mostrando as consequências das operações tropicais no estudo dos polinômios, matrizes e geometria, além de apresentar algumas aplicações práticas.

Currently, the study of arithmetic and homological properties of this object is cause for diverse research in commutative algebra. Our main goal in this work is to address aspects such as dimension and defining equations of the Rees algebra and other algebras that relate to it. / A álgebra de Rees de um ideal é uma construção algébrica que ocupa lugar de destaque na álgebra comutativa e na geometria algébrica. Atualmente, o estudo de propriedades aritméticas e homológicas desse objeto é motivo de diversas pesquisas em álgebra comutativa. Nosso principal objetivo nesse trabalho é tratar de aspectos como dimensão e equações de definição da álgebra de Rees e de outras álgebras que relacionam-se com ela.

We will also a brief overview on free resolutions and minimal simplicial complex to demonstrate the theorem of Bayer, Sturmfels and Peeva and then, we will conclude with the following result: given an ideal J we will display a set X P2 such that the minimal resolution the ideal of de nition of X has the same Betti diagram of the minimal resolution of J. / Esta disserta¸c˜ao tem como objetivo um estudo detalhado da fun¸c˜ao de Hilbert e do n´umero graduado de Betti e as demonstra¸c˜oes de alguns teoremas que relacionam essas duas teorias. Jouanolou em seu livro ”Equations de Pfaff Algébriques ”[12] apresenta um resultado de densidade que diz que o conjunto de equações algébricas de Pfaff de grau m > 2 em P2 sem soluções algébricas é denso no conjunto das equações algébricas de Pfaff. Por se tratar de um resultado de densidade, era preciso garantir que o conjunto das equações algébricas de Pfaff sem soluções algébricas não é vazio. Para isso, Jouanolou apresenta, neste mesmo trabalho, um exemplo de equação de Pfaff sem solução algébrica. Neste trabalho, estudamos o exemplo do Jouanolou, com base no artigo [23] de Zoladek. O autor traz uma abordagem mais analítica para este problema e apresenta uma demonstração baseada em uma generalização do Teorema de Integração de Darboux, (ver [4]), proposta pelo autor neste mesmo artigo. / In 1979, J.P.Jouanolou, in his book ”Equations de Pfaff Algébriques”[12], presents a density’s result which says that the set of Pfaff’s algebraic equations of degree m > 2 in P2 without algebraic solutions is dense in the set of Pfaff’s algebraic equations. As this is a result about density, it is necessary to ensure that the set of Pfaff’s algebraic equations without algebraic solutions is not empty. In order to do it, Jouanolou presents in the same paper an example of Pfaff’s equation without algebraic solution. In this work, we study the example of Jouanolou, based on the Zoladek’s article [23]. The author brings a more analytical approach to this problem and presents one proof based on a generalization of the Integration Theorem of Darboux (see [4]) proposed by the author in the same article.

Krull, who used it in the proof of the famous theorem of principal ideal, this a crucial milestone in the short history of commutative algebra. Later, O. Zariski, M. Nagata, D. Rees and others have shown how this purely algebraic notion has important signi cance in algebraic geometry. In this paper we study the symbolic powers showing some of its most fundamental properties and their connections with various aspects of algebraic geometry and commutative algebra. / A no ção de potência simb ólica remonta a W. Krull, que a usou na prova do c élebre teorema do ideal principal, este um marco crucial na curta hist ória da álgebra comutativa. Mais adiante, O. Zariski, M. Nagata, D.
