It is important for patients to start rehabilitation as soon as possible. Early discharge allows stroke patients return home to continue rehabilitation in familiar surroundings. The responsibility for continued rehabilitation is in the hands of patients and their families and the main aim is to adjust to everyday life. Objective: The aim of this work is to create an educational material "Summary of Principles and Recommendations for Stroke Patients and their Families after Discharge from Acute Stroke Units", to help patients in the stroke problematics. Hur miljön i hemmet kan påverka elevernas frukostintag : En enkätundersökning bland niondeklassare / How the environment at home affects students breakfast habits. : A questionnaire study among ninth graders

The purpose of this study was to investigate if the environment at home could affect the pupils breakfast intake; what they choose to eat, if the eat and why they eat breakfast. A quantitative method was used and the data was collected by a questionnaire. In total 64 pupils from ninth grade in public school participated in the study. The result showed that most of the pupils ate breakfast regularly and often ate alone at the kitchen table. Though some of them ate very little and a meager breakfast. Most of the pupils were positive to being served breakfast at school because they often were too tired to eat at home and can eat in the company of friends. The conclusion was that most pupils ate breakfast often and a few ate rarely. The kitchen table was the preferred place to eat breakfast and they often ate alone. Popular choices for breakfast were oatmeal, sandwiches or soured milk/yoghurt with cereals. / Matvanor har en stor betydelse för folkhälsan och vad barn erbjuds för mat under uppväxten har en extra stor betydelse. Frukost ger en bra start på dagen. Den ger en den ork och energi som behövs under morgonen före lunch. Energin efter frukosten behövs för att behålla fokus under skolarbetet och för att orka vara fysisk aktiv under skoltid samt fritid. Syftet med studien var att undersöka om miljön i hemmet påverkade niondeklassarnas frukostvanor och hur dessa vanor såg ut. För att besvara syftet så användes kvantitativ metod med tvärsnittsdesign och för insamling av dess data valdes enkäter. Urvalet bestod av elever i årskurs 9 från två skolor i en kommun. Totalt deltog 64 elever i studien. Resultatet visade att majoriteten av eleverna åt frukost ofta och en liten del av dem åt lite eller inget till frukost. De åt frukost vid köksbordet och det gjorde de utan sällskap. Många elever var positiva till att bli serverade frukost i skolan på grund av att få möjlighet att få äta frukost med sällskap. En annan fördel de nämnde med frukost i skolan var att de blev hungriga när de kom till skolan för att de fick vakna till ordentligt och bli piggare. Slutsatsen var att majoriteten av eleverna åt frukost varje dag eller hoppade över frukosten några gånger i veckan. Eleverna bestämde själva vad de ville äta till frukost och de åt oftast ensamma. Köksbordet var den plats i hemmet som var populärast att äta vid. De valde att äta havregrynsgröt, en smörgås med pålägg eller fil/yoghurt med flingor/müsli. Favoritdryckerna var O’boy och te.

The impact of a board game as parent guidance strategy to reinforce Cognitive Control Therapy in the home environment

In this study the impact of a board game as parent guidance strategy to reinforce Cognitive Control Therapy (CCT) in the home environment of a child with ADHD was explored. The influence of such a board game, based on the principles of CCT, on multiple contexts of the child’s existence - therapeutic and family contexts - was also investigated. There were two reasons for involving the parents in therapy. Firstly, children with an attention problem are situated within contexts and the effect of ADHD can permeate to the home and school environments. Secondly, for Cognitive Control Therapy (CCT) to be successful, it needs to be sustained by frequent repetition. It was hypothesized that sustainability of the effect of CCT should rise substantially after introduction of the board game, as the child and the parent can reinforce the principles of CCT by using it, even without being able to attend a session. The board game was designed by using the principles for game development as articulated by Dodge. A case study was then conducted by using a mixed methods approach, where quantitative and qualitative data were obtained. Data collection strategies consisted of quantitative methods in the form of the Cognitive Control battery (pre and post test), and the Copeland Symptoms checklist. Qualitative strategies included parental feedback, qualitative data during therapy sessions (observations and therapeutic notes) and a semi-structured interview with the mother. Data was collected before, after and during the intervention. The intervention consisted of individual therapy with the participant, parent guidance and parallel implementation of the designed board game by the parents with the child-participant. The quantitative data (from the CCB and the Copeland Symptoms Checklist) from the post test indicated that sensitivity towards distractions remains a concern, and that parental implementation of a board game (incorporating elements of CCT) with a child can possibly have a slightly negative effect on cognitive control functioning. However, the scope of this case study does not allow direct correlations to be drawn between the parental input and the child’s cognitive control functioning. It does point to the possibility of heeding caution when implementing a board game to reinforce CCT principles by a parent. Conversely, the findings from the study also indicated that family relations improved. Five qualitative insights emerged: i) increased ability to distinguish between relevant versus irrelevant information in the participant; ii) increase in organizational thought in the therapeutic situation and at home; iii) improved communication between parent and child, resulting in improved skills to maintain discipline; iv) improved interaction among family members; and v) transfer of skills to the mother. This diploma thesis deals with the analysis, description and usage of sensor data from an intelligent home system. This term also describes the intelligent system BeeeOn, which provides a sensor data and the possibility of extending this system to automation tasks. This is followed by the analysis of all the measured physical quantities, their properties and their influence on humans. The results from the measured data were used to create a classifier based on deep neural networks to detect current events at home. Detected events can be used for the following automation system to help improve living conditions. At the end of this thesis are discussed the results and options to continue with this project.

Bakgrund: Många patienter väljer att vårdas i sitt hem den sista tiden i livet. Antalet patienter i palliativ vård i hemmiljö ökar och mer avancerad behandling erbjuds i hemmet. Patienter som erhåller palliativ vård i hemmet har ofta ett behov av en central infart för att kunna få läkemedel, infusion eller att ta blodprover i syfte att minska vårdlidande. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att belysa sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av inläggning av perifert inlagd central venkateter (PICC) på patienter i palliativ vård i hemmiljö. Metod: I studien användes en konventionell innehållsanalys med induktiv ansats för att analysera de sex genomförda semistrukturerade intervjuerna. Resultat: Resultatet presenteras i tre kategorier med tillhörande nio underkategorier. De tre kategorierna var: behov av formell och reell kompetens, förberedelser inför och under genomförande samt utvärdering av inläggning av PICC. De nio underkategorierna som framkom var: att ha erfarenhet av att lägga in PICC, att vara kreativ, att ha kännedom om patientens hälsotillstånd, att det finns materiella resurser, att samarbeta med andra vårdenheter, att arbeta i hemmet är en utmaning för arbetsmiljö, att kunna avsätta tid, att risk finns för komplikationer samt att registrera antalet inlagda PICC. Informanternas tidigare erfarenheter av att lägga in PICC på sjukhus var en förutsättning för att kunna lägga in PICC hemma hos en patient. Att vara förberedd genom att ha kunskap om patientens tillstånd var viktigt. Att arbeta i någons hem krävde kreativitet för att lösa situationer och problem som kunde uppstå. Utvärdering av komplikationer skedde fortlöpande.  Slutsats: Resultatet visade att informanternas förvärvade erfarenheter av inläggning av PICC i slutenvården under det tidigare yrkeslivet låg till grund för en lyckad inläggning av PICC på patienter i palliativ vård i deras hem, men att det krävdes noggranna förberedelser inför ingreppet. Komplikationer efter inläggning var få. / Background: Many patients choose to be in their home during the final time of their lives. The number of patients in palliative care in the home environment is increasing and more advanced treatment can be offered at home. Patients who receive palliative care at home often have a need for a central line to receive medication, infusion, or to take blood samples. Aim: The aim of the study was to shed light on nurses' experiences of inserting a peripherallyinserted central catheter (PICC) on patients in palliative care in a home environment.   Method: A conventional content analysis with an inductive approach to analyze the six semi-structured interviews was used.  Results: The results were presented in three categories with nine subcategories. The three categories are: need for formal and prior competence, preparations for and during implementation and evaluation of insertion of PICC. The nine sub-categories that emerged were: to have experience of inserting PICC, to be creative, to have knowledge of the patient's health condition, that there are material resources, to collaborate with other care units, to work at home is a challenge for the work environment, to be able to set aside time, that there is risk for complications and to register the number of PICCs inserted. Informants' previous experiences of inserting PICCs in hospitals were a prerequisite for being able to insert PICCs at patient's home. Being prepared by having knowledge of the patient's condition as well as the home environment was important. Working in someone´s home required creativity to handle situations and problems that may arise. Evaluation of complications took place continuously. Conclusion. The results showed that the informants' acquired experiences of inserting PICC in inpatient care during their previous professional life were the basis for successful insertions of PICC:s to patients in palliative are in their homes, but careful preparations were required before the procedure.

The purpose of this study was to increase knowledge about how teachers view the importance of reading lessons in year one. The study also examined how teachers practically work with reading homework and how these teachers felt that it benefited the students' reading development. The study was conducted using semi-structured qualitative interviews with eight teachers working in primary school. All teachers who participated in the study are certifiedteachers to teach Swedish in primary school. The study is based on the socio-cultural perspective and pragmatism. Which means that students learn best in connection between theory and practice and where language is in focus. The results showed that the teachers who participated agreed that the ultimate purpose of the reading homework is to increase the students' reading fluency with the help of mass training. The teachers consider the reading homework necessary in year one. Repetitive reading is presented as an important aspect in students' early reading learning by both research and teachers. Reasons why teachers choose to work with reading homework differ somewhat. But the time aspect in school is something that teachers are critical of. The result shows that the teachers mean a certain reading must take place at home. Because of this the reading homework is considered a good aid by the teachers.

Объектом исследования явилось психологическое благополучие. Предметом исследования стала связь психологического благополучия с отношением к дому. Магистерская диссертация состоит из введения, двух глав, заключения, списка литературы (147 источников) и приложения, включающего в себя бланк анкеты. Объем магистерской диссертации 86 страниц, на которых размещены 2 рисунка и 10 таблиц. Во введении раскрывается актуальность проблемы исследования, разработанность проблематики, ставятся цель и задачи исследования, определяются объект и предмет исследования, формулируется гипотеза, указываются методы и эмпирическая база, а также этапы проведения исследования, научная новизна, теоретическая и практическая значимость работы. Первая глава включает в себя обзор иностранной и отечественной литературы по теме психологического благополучия и особенностей психологического благополучия студентов. Также рассмотрен феномен домашней среды и отношение человека к дому, кроме того проведён обзор психологических исследований домашней среды и отношения к ней. Вторая глава посвящена эмпирической части исследования. В ней представлено описание организации и методов проведенного исследования и результатов, полученных по всем использованным методикам: разработанная нами анкета, опросник «Шкалы психологического благополучия» К. Рифф, опросник «Привязанность к дому», опросник «Функциональность домашней среды», опросник «Релевантность домашней среды». Также в главе представлен корреляционный анализ и проведен анализ по U-критерию Манна-Уитни. Выводы по главе 2 включают в себя основные результаты эмпирического исследования. В заключении в обобщенном виде изложены результаты теоретической и эмпирической частей работы, а также выводы по выдвинутым гипотезам. / The object of the study was psychological well-being. The subject of the study was the connection of psychological well-being with the attitude to home. The master's thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion, a list of references (147 sources) and an appendix including a questionnaire form. The volume of the master's thesis is 86 pages, on which 2 figures and 10 tables are placed. The introduction reveals the relevance of the research problem, the elaboration of the problem, sets the purpose and objectives of the study, defines the object and subject of the study, formulates a hypothesis, specifies methods and empirical base, as well as the stages of research, scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the work. The first chapter includes a review of foreign and domestic literature on the topic of psychological well-being and features of psychological well-being of students. The phenomenon of the home environment and a person's attitude to home is also considered, in addition, a review of psychological studies of the home environment and attitudes to it is conducted. The second chapter is devoted to the empirical part of the study. It provides a description of the organization and methods of the study and the results obtained by all the methods used: the questionnaire developed by us, the questionnaire "Scales of psychological well-being" K. Riff, the questionnaire "Attachment to home", the questionnaire "Functionality of the home environment", the questionnaire "Relevance of the home environment". The chapter also presents a correlation analysis and an analysis based on the Mann-Whitney U-criterion. The conclusions of Chapter 2 include the main results of an empirical study. In conclusion, the results of the theoretical and empirical parts of the work, as well as conclusions on the hypotheses put forward, are summarized.

The influence of the home environment on the academic performance of secondary school children

The primary aim of this research was to determine whether the home environment of secondary school children has an influence on their academic performance. A literature study was done where the major aspects of the home environment were identified: family lifestyle, parental involvement and attitude, physical living conditions. An analysis of academic performance and the factors affecting it was done. A measuring instrument was developed in order to measure the home environment in terms of being positive or negative. The results of the empirical research indicated that while home environment and age do play a significant role in the academic performance of secondary school children, gender, maternal employment, and whether the child lives permanently with both parents, did not. The educational implications of the findings and the teacher's role are discussed, and guidelines regarding the development of a home environment conducive to better academic performance are given. / Psychology of Education / M.
