O uso do picolé mentolado para manejo da sede do paciente no pré-operatório: ensaio clínico randomizado / The use of mentholated popsicle to assist the preoperative patient\'s thirst: randomized clinical trial

Patricia Aroni 04 December 2017 (has links)
Outro aspecto relevante consiste na produção de conhecimento sobre a problemática, escasso tanto no cenário nacional, quanto internacional / Thirst is defined as the desire of drinking water. It is also considered a multifactorial symptom for two plausible reasons. The first refers to the provided stimulus that may be influenced for the hydration need. To put it differently, such necessity seeks to balance the volume levels and the plasmatic osmolarity. The second one is justified due to it is initiated by the person\'s various personal and cultural factors. This investigation aimed at comparing the intensity and discomfort that thirst caused in patients. The period analyzed refers to the preoperative twenty minutes after the patients ate the mentholated popsicle in comparison to patients who received the usual assistance. This randomized clinical trial was carried out with a parallel, prospective, and monocentric treatment. The sample had 40 surgical patients within the perioperative period. They were divided into two groups, namely: 20 belonged to the control group and 20 belonged to the experimental one. The patients placed into the former received the expected assistance from the health team. Regarding the patients placed into the latter, they received one mentholated popsicle at least three hours before the surgical arranged time. The data collecting tool developed was submitted to five judges\' face and content validation. The intensity and discomfort of thirst were the measured primary findings. The former was measured by using the Numeral Scale in which the number zero represents no thirst and the number ten, the most intense thirst the patients reported they have ever felt. The latter was evaluated by applying the Discomfort Scale of Preoperative Thirst whose pointing may vary from zero to fourteen. In such scale, the occurrence of fourteen corresponds to the most considerable discomfort the patients reported they have ever experienced. In terms of intensity of thirst, the initial averages were different regarding both investigated groups, scored 5,3 (dp 1,8) to the control one and 6,6 (dp 1,6) to the experimental one (p=0,02). The averages concerning the thirst initial discomfort also presented discrepancy, scored 5,2 (dp 2,9) to the first group and 8,0 (dp 3,7) to the second one (p<0,001). The results of this randomized clinical trial significantly evince the decrease of thirst intensity and discomfort on patients who ate the mentholated popsicle in comparison to the ones who received the usual assistance (p<0,001 to both outcomes). The mentholated popsicle seemed to be a feasible strategy to assist patients in the preoperative period. The evidences produced throughout the investigation may support decision makings by the health team and, consequently, improve the patient\'s given support. It might happen by the implementation of an inexpensive and effortless application of such strategy. Moreover, another relevant aspect concerns to the knowledge production due to the features this study shed lights on, which sparse in both national and international scenarios

Entre monnayage officiel et faux-monnayage : la fabrication de la monnaie au marteau en France (XIIIe - XVIIe siècles) : approche physico-chimique, expérimentale et historique / Coining and counterfeiting : the hammered coin production in France (XIIIth - XVIIth centuries) : a physicochemical, experimental and historical approach

Arles, Adrien 13 February 2009 (has links)
In the Nineties excavations made in La Rochelle (France) have produced objects of archaeometallurgical evidence with regards to the second royal mint. For the time being, this workshop is still the only one that has been discovered in France. Moreover, the observations of the artefacts seem to allow the reading of the whole money making process. These archaeological samples, complemented with ceramics from the medieval mint of Montreuil-Bonnin (France), have been studied by an archaeometric approach to propose an original research on the official French hammer striking process. This multidisciplinary study is based on the analysis of historical samples but also on a bibliographic compilation: monetary treaties, official reports, mint accounts… The experimental work takes an important part in the study too. Providing more than experimental samples easily studied and compared with the archaeological ones, this pragmatic method allows to point out the complexity of a technique. Finally, the gathering of all data defines the raw materials and the processes used in the French hammer coining until the mid XVIIth century, but also their respective purposes. As a particular coinage, counterfeiting has also been studied through two post-medieval examples that took place in Southern France caves. The experimental study reveals the originalities of these illegal activities besides some links with the official processes.

In Their Majesties’ Service : The Career of Francesco De Gratta (1613-1676) as a Royal Servant and Trader in Gdańsk

Salamonik, Michał January 2017 (has links)
This study analyses the administrative and economic career of Francesco De Gratta (1613–1676) as Royal Postmaster, Royal Secretary, and trader within the postal and fiscal systems of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This investigation focuses mainly on his network and career strategies and is based on various sources from a number of European archives and libraries, mainly those situated in Italy, Poland and Germany. The study presents the family De Gratta and the familial social actions that Francesco used in order to root his children and family in the Polish-Lithuanian noble culture. Next, the analysis shows that the career of Francesco De Gratta was inextricably correlated with the establishment of the early modern royal postal system in Gdańsk (the city of Gdańsk fulfilled an important bridging role within the Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth) as well as his close contacts with different Polish kings and queens. The career followed distinct stages, tying him ever closer with the Crown, the nobility as well as the merchants in Gdańsk. It all started with his position as Head Postmaster in Gdańsk, in 1654. In 1661, he became Postmaster General of Royal Prussia, Courland, Semigallia and Livonia. After these initial steps, Francesco immersed in creditor activities and close contacts with the Royal Prussian cities, royal authorities, and not the least different Polish mint masters. He also got involved in the potash trade with his later son-in-law Jan Wawrzyniec Wodzicki, first as his factor and later as a co-owner of Wodzicki’s company. The study finally traces his social and economic advancement by the analysis of Francesco De Gratta’s legacies and their importance for his heirs’ social status. The summary compares the career of Francesco De Gratta with that of other postmasters and mint masters of Italian origin in Poland-Lithuania. / Information Infrastructure in the Baltic Area. Physical Computing als Mittel der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisgewinnung

Schulz, Sandra 17 December 2018 (has links)
Physical computing devices like robots and microcontrollers play an important role as learning devices for students. These devices as well as the learning contexts are multifaceted. The complexities of the systems are diverse and the existing research is usually concentrated on the devices. This thesis develops as a starting point a device-independent physical computing process by seeing it as problem-solving process. The goal is to construct a base for sustained and device-independent physical computing research and to describe physical computing as a school subject. The physical computing process seems to share similarities with the scientific inquiry process, because of characteristics like working with sensors and actuators and iterativ testing and evaluating. This relation and the implications on computer science education are explored in the following three facets. Based on existing literature, a model of the physical computing process is derived and supplemented by empirical data. In the comparison of the scientific inquiry and the physical computing processes substantial commonalities are identified. Hence, a base for a joint STEM problem-solving process is built. So far, concrete students’ problems during the activities with physical computing devices are described as a side product. In this thesis problem sources are uncovered and occurring problems categorized. Problems having more than one problem source are uncovered and a problem taxonomy is derived from that. Based on the problem taxonomy, a multilevel feedback model to support problem solving during physical computing activities is developed. With an empirical exploration, the taxonomy is evaluated. Results indicate that the taxonomy is supportive for achieving the physical computing process. Finally a model for a cognitive tutoring system for physical computing is outlined.

We analyzed, by the ways of memory, the labor relations, the ways of life, the tensions and the cultural differences constituted around this economic activity which had been practiced through different workers that migrated to that region and worked on there. The study of memories and social trajectories let us to apprehend a past reality that was more complex than the one which was told by the memorial and academy literatures; that defends hegemonic concepts or ideas, which are part of the social life of this region. These trajectories evinced that the occupation of the region didn t has constituted by a planned and consensual form like it was divulged, because the most part of the migrant workers arrived and went out without having a sense of belonging. When different people arrived; by diverse places and times, differences and socio-cultural conflicts became latent, as it was verified in oral telling reported by people who remains in that region. This research sought, then, to study the historical events of the formation of this border space with a recent occupation, probing the formation of your social landscape, which passed by intense and deep changes in that period. In the dynamically of the conflicts, relations and social problems of pertain, memories became primordial to the interpretation of this frontier, where the increasing multiple tensions and instituting deep damages to the nature / Esta pesquisa problematiza experiências vividas nas dinâmicas socioculturais das lavouras de hortelã no município de Mercedes, Extremo-Oeste do Paraná, desde a década de 1960.
