Konsten att påverka med design : En fallstudie av kampanjen #VÅRTHAV / The art of influencing with design : A case study of the #OURSEA camapign

Quennerstedt, Frida January 2021 (has links)
At a time when changing habits are advocated for both personal and collective goals, knowledge from several scientific disciplines can be used for communication. In order for people to break old habits and create new ones, they may in some cases need a push in the right direction. With nudging one can in different ways help people take decisions more easily and make choices with the goal that it will benefit the individual or the collective, but in some cases there’s a risk that the one who initiates the nudge uses it for their own benefit. Through a case study of the #OURSEA campaign, initiated by Moomin Characters Ltd., in collaboration with the John Nurminen Foundation, this thesis intends to investigate and identify how nudging is used to convey information and change behaviors. The analysis is based on the behavioral science theory nudging. To go in depth, suggestions are given on how the campaign can develop communication based on the theoretical framework in relation to graphic design. Throughout the text, a critical discussion is held about the material and about how and when the graphic designer has a responsibility regarding the use of the theories. The results show how nudging can also be used in graphic design, despite the fact that the subject and the connection between the two disciplines have not previously been thoroughly explored in regards of each other.

Pappan, mamman och fyren : Manligt och kvinnligt i Tove Janssons Pappan och havet och Muminpappans memoarer

Nilsson Lindberg, Sanne Sebastian January 2010 (has links)
Tove Jansson was born in 1914 and died in 2001. She was a Finnish, though Swedish-speaking, novelist and painter. She wrote many books of which the Moomin books were the most popular. She wrote in total eight Moomin books (picture books not counted) of which some were rewritten one of more times. The first Moomin book appeared in 1945 and the last as late as 1970. Two Moomin books, Moominpappa at Sea and The Memoirs of Moominpappa, deals especially with the father in the Moomin family which is the character I have been most interested in. Several other studies have been done of the Moomin books, but none of them have had the dad and the gender relations between him and the mum as its focus. No earlier study has looked at the Moominpappa with masculinity studies as a tool for analysis. The main aim of this study was to find out how masculinity, unmanliness, femininity and gender relations are staged and problematized in two books by Tove Jansson: Moominpappa at Sea and The Memoirs of Moominpappa. I have also studied the construction of gender differences between the Moominpappa and the Moominmamma. The books have been read and then analyzed with psychoanalysis and masculinity studies as the main analyzing tools. The psychoanalysis has in parts been feministic. The result is that Moominpappa at Sea tells about a masculinity that is not working and about gender relations that has to be rebuilt in order to give the Moominpappa a sense of masculinity. The Moominmamma is oppressed and mostly fits herself into that gender relation, but she also makes her own world by painting the walls of the lighthouse tower and even manages to escape into her painting. The growing Moomintroll tries to find his own ways by moving away from the family and starts coming close to the frozen Groke which makes her dance and melt. In my analysis she is an abjected version of the Moominmamma and The Lighthouse Keeper as an abjected version of the Moominpappa.

Gotiska drag i Tove Janssons Muminböcker : Med fallstudie av Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen / Gothic Influences in Tove Jansson's Moomin books : A Case Study of Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen

Hietanen, Marko January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this essay is to study a topic that has not been researched before, namely the gothic influences in Tove Jansson’s Moomin books, with a focus on Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen (The Moomins and the Great Flood). The Horror genre has previously been linked to both Tove Jansson and her Moomin books, but never with a gothic perspective. That is why we ask: What gothic influences can be found in Tove Jansson’s Moomin books, especially in Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen? How are these gothic influences portrayed and to what purpose? Gothic influences is the focus for the close reading, which is the method I used for my analysis. I use the definition of the term gothic, proposed by Mattias Fyhr, which means that I will search for these subject matters: subjectivity, loss, decay, ruin, insolvability, and labyrinthism. These six categories contain different gothic characteristics. The analysis shows that gothic influences are common in all of Jansson’s Moomin books. All the categories are represented, even though the instances vary between the books. Numerous examples that I used from the books happen to fall in several different categories at the same time. To my understanding, the subjectivity category seems to be most frequent in Småtrollen och den stora översvämningen where to surrounding world is portrayed by the characters' states of mind (melancholy and fright). Yet it seems, according to my interpretation, that the ruin category, which contains the “outer threat” and has earlier been associated with the Moomin books, is the most distinguishing in the Moomin oeuvre.

"Ta det lugnt, här finns inga värre saker än vi själva" : En psykosyntetisk delpersonlighetsanalys av Tove Janssons muminsvit / "Take it easy, there are no worse things here than ourselves" : A psychosynthetic subpersonality analysis of Tove Jansson's Moomin novels

Petersdotter, Camilla January 2021 (has links)
The essay examines how characters in the Moomin novels change through relationships based on a psychosynthetic subpersonality analysis. This is a new perspective in the field of literature and therefore a solid theoretical basis in psychosynthesis is given and a presentation of my method which includes the concept of subpersonalities. Then three main constellations of characters that focus on Moomin, Sniff, Snufkin, Moominmamma, the Groke, Fillyjonk, Hemulen and Whomper Toft are analyzed. From my discussion it appears that the characters are types who each have their own way of being, thinking and feeling, and in this way Tove Jansson writes a whole where differences may exist. With my perspective, the light is directed towards how the characters integrate sides of each other and thereby develop. The results show that the characters change through the relationships between them, and that a synthesis in each constellation arises.

Tintamaresken- en folklig verfremdung!

Björnsson, Hillevi January 2014 (has links)

Fredriksson, Joel January 2022 (has links)
In this study, the Japanese animated film My Neighbor Totoro was analyzed with regards to what childhood discourses can be found in it, and why these discourses in particular appear. To do this, discourse theory was used as the main theoretical basis, and certain aspects of hermeneutics were also used, such as combining the hermeneutic spiral with basic film analysis as a method. The childhood discourses that are discussed are the natural child, adult children and child adults, the competent child, the vulnerable child, postmodern childhood, the lonely/psychological child, and gender discourses. First, the life context of Hayao Miyazaki was examined to see what childhood discourses that might have influenced him. The natural child seems to be the most prominent discourse throughout Miyazaki’s life and his previous work, and the discourse appears in My Neighbor Totoro as well. However, so do all the other discourses. The results are that the view of childhood expressed in the film is that children develop the best in proximity to nature and the divine. Children should aspire to become competent adults, but adults should also come closer to childhood and nature. Postmodernity is dismissed as bad for children, and the natural childhood is deemed to be in need of saving. Children are also according to the film beings capable of complex thoughts and feelings relating to fears, death and family relations. These difficult thoughts are dealt with by their imagination – an imagination that is non-separable from their reality. This could indicate another childhood discourse: the imaginative child. Apart from all this, ways to use films like this one in education are also briefly discussed through film pedagogy. /
Slutgiltigt godkännandedatum: 2022-01-14
