Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2015-11-17T15:53:27Z

Urbanismo e mobilidade na metropóle paulistana : estudo de caso : o Parque Dom Pedro II / Urbanism and mobility in the São Paulo metropolis. Case study: Parque Dom Pedro IITomas André Rebollo Figueiredo da Silva 01 June 2012 (has links)
This study seeks the guidelines for the urban reintegration of the Parque Dom Pedro II area in Sao Paulo, based on the finding of its current role as a metropolitan mobility hub and relying on international examples of urban renewal projects in areas associated with the renovation or construction of major intermodal stations. This path is organized into three investigative axes corresponding to the three chapters of the study. Initially the area of Parque Dom Pedro II is addressed by employing a method of urban analysis which seeks, through its historical trajectory and its current physical and functional characteristics, the guidelines for planning and design for its reintegration in the city. Then, in the second chapter, the most recent urban theories that address the contemporary metropolis are discussed, with emphasis on the role that mobility networks and its interface points with the city, the metropolitan mobility hubs, perform in the organization and structuring of these vast urbanized territories. This chapter is intended to facilitate the understanding of the role that the study area is likely to meet within the logics of operation in place in the Sao Paulo metropolis, updating the meaning of the urban elements analyzed in the first chapter. Finally, in the third chapter, the typological and morphological characteristics of the metropolitan mobility hubs, considered as specific areas of the city - as urban parts - and its main constituents, the major intermodal stations, are analyzed through a brief history of the relationship between mobility, urbanism and architecture, from the proposals of megastructures imagined by architects in the 1950s and 1960s to the contemporary examples of urban projects associated with five renovated or newly designed European stations: Euralille in Lille, King\'s Cross and Sait Pancras in London, HauptBahnhof in Berlin, La Sagrera in Barcelona and Porta Susa in Turin. Closing the third chapter a brief history of the experiences of urban design associated with the construction of the Sao Paulo subway system and stations aims to bring the issues raised closer to the reality of Sao Paulo. Instead of a definitive conclusion about a finished design solution to the area of Parque Dom Pedro II, an epilogue relates the issues addressed in the three previous chapters in order to provide parameters for planning and design in the area.

Effets discursifs de la représentation de la loi dans la littérature argentine : dictature et post dictature / Discursive effects of the representation of the law in Argentine literature : dictatorship and post-dictatorshipLombardo, Martín 19 September 2014 (has links)
The central issue of this dissertation focuses on the manner in which several fictional texts, evoking events emblematic of the years 1976-2001, represent the law through their discursive effects. In the process of analyzing the discursive effects of the representation of the law in these fictional texts, certain questions must be posed: in which way does literary discourse configure the borders between public and private space, how does it characterize the spaces made visible or invisible, bring repressed statements to the surface, describe the individuals to whom it bestows the right to exercise power and those who there find themselves marginalized or defined as criminals. All of these elements are the discursive effects of the law that not only represent the law, but also denote the interests that have dictated it. We are centering our study on the representation of the law that dictates the internal boundary of the State evoked by Michel Foucault in his concept of biopolitics. We will analyze different novels that address the most representative moments of the period of our research: the military repression, the Falklands War, the return to democracy, the establishment of neoliberalism and finally the crisis of 2001. The novels of Daniel Moyano, El vuelo del tigre, Rodolfo Fogwill, Los pichiciegos, Juan Martini, El fantasma imperfect, Claudia Piñeiro, Las viudas de los jueves, Juan Martini, Colonia, and Pedro Mairal, El año del desierto, will guide our research since they represent, through their discursive effects, the exception to the law in place. The theoretical ideas of Walter Benjamin, Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben and Andrea Cavalletti regarding violence, biopolitics, the state of exception, and security will allow us to analyze the relationship between literary text and historical moment.

The Controversial Identity of Flamenco Jazz: A New Historical and Analytical ApproachPamies, Sergio, 1983- 05 1900 (has links)
There are certain recordings by important artists such as Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Pedro Iturralde, Chick Corea, and Paco de Lucía, among others, that have been associated with the label flamenco jazz. This label is entering jazz discourse, and it needs to be better understood in order to clarify its history, its identity, and its impact on recent developments in flamenco that are labeled nuevo flamenco. There is a lack of agreement in the existent literature on flamenco jazz on the evaluation of these recordings and these artists' achievements and contributions to this field. These writings encompass authors from different backgrounds: journalists, critics, and musicologists, who have approached their analysis of the recordings from different perspectives. The differences in professional backgrounds, approaches, and purpose of the writings of these authors has resulted in controversy about this label. Therefore, the flamenco jazz scholarly conversation needs more objective writings from an analytical point of view.
This historiographical study presents a more comprehensive evaluation of flamenco jazz by discussing selected recordings using analytical tools from jazz studies. These analytical arguments clarify the aesthetics of flamenco jazz and the artistic processes that these artists went through when combining musical elements from flamenco and jazz, which in some cases are described as creative misreading. In this century of cultural globalization, where jazz has become a diverse expression of world music because of its capacity to absorb traits from other musical practices, this study can be a resource for international jazz musicians who are seeking to combine jazz with their musical cultural heritage.

Understanding the assumptions underlying the relationships between individuals and the world according to their civilizational affiliation requires tools and a method to address three main questions. First, how to approach the relationship individuals and their collectivities maintain with the world and with the Other according to their own set of interpretations and meanings of these realities? Second, how to envision the diversity of human collectivities which establish such relations? Finally, how to approach the collective dimensions through limited individual discourse?
Two tools enabled me to distance myself from my own subjectiveness and to attain a certain degree of reality and validity as to the stated facts and the achieved results. First, the notional network linking worldviews (Ikenga-Metuh, 1987) as a civilizational phenomenon (Mauss, 1929) accessible through the analysis of social representations (Jodelet, 1997), enables the identification of an interface which can be studied between the individual and the collective. Secondly, research operationalization makes it possible to identify the sixteenth century as a significant crossroad for the study of Western and Andean civilizations through Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa’s representations of the Spanish Self and the Inca Other.
Finally, discourse analysis (Sabourin, 2009) unveils a polarizing social grammar between the Self and the Other which involves the three realms of meaning (religious, intellectual and political) observed in Sarmiento’s discourse. The author’s theological, intellectual and political positions thus revealed lead, in turn, to the collective stories and discourses which prevailed in Western and Andean civilizations at the time, and invites a further question: Is this polarization unique to Sarmiento’s social location or does it constitute a truly Western civilizational phenomenon?
