La femme fatale dans la littérature brésilienne : échos d'un mythe décadent / The femme fatale in Brazilian literature : echoes of a decadent myth

Formoso Assunção, Luisa 05 October 2015 (has links)
This study aims to highlight the myth of the femme fatale, myth created out of the imagination of the French decadents in the late nineteenth century, in the Brazilian literature. Through the analysis of the female characters from three Brazilian novels of major importance in the Brazilian imagination: Dom Casmurro Machado de Assis (1898), Gabriela Cravo e Canela Jorge Amado (1958) and Hilda Furacão Roberto Drummond (1991), we will study, from a hermeneutic perspective, their mythical dimension as heroines and femmes fatales. In the three stories, the woman causes the fall of the man. The three heroines evoke the great symbolic value of the myth of the femme fatale and the archetypes elaborated relative to men, relative to either their environment, time, ideology or society. This research reflects upon the myth of female fatality leading to the understanding of imaginary constructions and symbolic networks nourished in the novels and in a broader context, in the Brazilian imagination. Ahead of our methodological approach, the structural method of Gilbert Durand emerges (and his "entourage": Carl Gustav Jung, Mircea Eliade, Levi-Strauss, Gaston Bachelard) contemplating on the aspects of the myth. The literary theory navigates alongside the hermeneutics of images, symbols and archetypes to ensure the quality of the reflection on the myth and its relationship with literature and the individual and collective imagination in the Brazilian context.

Les Grecs anciens et le « mythe grec » allemand : histoire d'une « affinité élective » / Ancient Greeks and the Geman “Greek myth” : history of an “elective affinity”

Andurand, Anthony 27 June 2011 (has links)
Set up as a chosen field of study by the newly founded “science of Antiquity” (Altertumswissenschaft), Ancient Greece also became, in late 19th century Germany, the object of a quite peculiar myth, the German “Greek myth”.Germans – that is the basic assumption of the Griechenmythos – are the modern Greeks, they are related to them by an “elective affinity”, by an ideal spiritual relationship. This discourse, which endures until the end of the Second World War, establishes an ever-renewed dialogue between the Hellenic past, which one aims at reconstructing, and the present of Germany, this new Hellas ever to be built. It takes on, at the same time, a key role in the imaginative world and the discursive practices of Altertumswissenschaft. The latter, during this period, is the laboratory where the hellenists shape and reinvent the Greek-German belief, mirror of the originality of their project and medium of their ambitions.Undertaken from the perspective of reception studies, the present inquiry goes back over the relations between the Griechenmythos and Altertumswissenschaft, from Wilhelm von Humboldt to Werner Jaeger, paying attention to the interlacing of the production of knowledge on Ancient Greece and myth-making.

The moving image : contemporary film analysis and analytical psychology

Broodryk, Chris Willem 21 August 2007 (has links)
The cinematic experience is often an emotional or ‘felt’ experience. In the aftermath of the film, it is challenging to indicate precisely how I was guided to react emotionally to the film. This study presents an investigation of the emotional cinematic experience from a Jungian critical reading. Jungian theory introduces a model of the psyche as consisting of, amongst other constructs, the collective unconscious and the archetypes. These archetypal contents manifest visually as symbols. These symbols guide the reader of the filmic text towards an emotional cinematic experience by activating, in particular, the archetype of the Self. Based on a review of the available scholarship in Jungian theory and film, this dissertation develops a Jungian conceptual framework consisting of notions and concepts that can describe, articulate and examine the psychological dynamics of an emotional cinematic experience. In a demonstration of how a Jungian approach to the text can highlight the dynamics of the emotional cinematic experience, the study presents a critical reading of M. Night Shyamalan’s films The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs. Using the Jungian practice of amplification, the study focuses on notions of the archetypal (contents and manifestations, particularly the archetype of the Self); individuation motifs; notions of the Apocalypse; and alchemical symbolism, all framed within an approach proposed by Jungian dream analysis. The symbolic aspect of film imagery is constructed by archetypal contents and individuation motifs that emphasise the emotional cinematic experience Based on the critical reading of Shyamalan’s film, this dissertation concludes that the emotional cinematic experience can be examined with specific reference to the emotional cinematic experience as ‘guided’ by the filmic images’ symbolic aspect. The Jungian framework developed by this study can be used to effectively investigate and articulate the emotional cinematic experience. / Dissertation (MA (Drama and Film Studies))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Drama / MA / Unrestricted

Feminilidade dissonante em cena : uma exploração andrógena e vadia do mito de Helena / Dissonant femininity on stage : an androgynous and slutty exploration of Helen's myth

Este trabalho é teórico-prático, interdisciplinar e autobiográfico / Abstract: An actress investigates performativities involving males and females roles. As a laboratory rat and scientific subject, experiences itself and the bodies around her with the mythology of the erotic woman, looking to overcome dualities in an androgeny exploration. The Greek myth of Helen is the field trials, an engaging poetic material studied mostly from the tragedy "The Trojan Women", by Euripides; the historical research of Bettany Hughes; the analysis of Prof. Junito de Souza Brandão and the novel of the French Sophie Chaveau. Helen's issues will be problematized from gender studies of Judith Butler and Beatriz Preciado; and the perspective of the Imaginary, especially in Gaston Bachelard and CG Jung. Approached from its subversions of femininity, as dissonant figure that remains in Western art from Homer, the research seeks to an androgeny exploration because the bodies seeking to assume the feminine and the masculine, proposing to remain at the border, away from universalizations, where there everything seems confused and chaotic. It is also assumed a slutty exploration because the organization of ideas allows the coming and going between theory and practice shamelessly. This work is theoretical and practical, interdisciplinary and autobiographical / Mestrado / Teatro, Dança e Performance / Mestra em Artes da Cena

In this paper the qualitative approach was a method adopted to carry out the research to investigate a contemporary phenomenon within a real context, where each object is treated as unique. The data were processed according to the content analysis and documentary analysis. The search for field was developed during the second semester of 2007 in a public school, belonging to the Birigui´s Board Education. The choice of school was based on the low-income school submitted by the managers. The study was designed with students in basic education, seventh series. First the students had been observed in their natural environment, in their classrooms. After that, was proposed to make an autobiography about his relationship with Mathematics. Then the students were interviewed. The action of teach was observe according to the methodology, planning class, evaluation and the relationship between the teachers and students. There were also reviewed the planning education, students notebooks and activities and the teacher´s daily. The gotten data had been treated through the "content analysis" and "documentary analysis". Both subject had been placed in evidences about the importance of the effective relations at the school indicating that this may contribute such for the success as the failure of the pupil causing fear and blockades into a relation with the Mathematics subject.

Mito, história e narrativa em Le Roi des Aulnes, de Michel Tournier / Myth, history and narrative in Le Roi des Aulnes, from Michel Tournier

Aline da Silva Lima Villi 23 April 2010 (has links)
The re-elaboration of myths deeply characterizes the work of the French writer, Michel Tournier. The present research focused itself on the analysis of his novel Le Roi des Aulnes, published in 1970, which narrates the trajectory of a fantastic character in a quest for his fate in the middle of World War II, at the center of the Nazist Empire. The research focused on the strategies employed to build a narrative that so strongly links historic issues with mythic elements, aside from investigating the critical potential of that work. From a specific bibliography, it tried to place the concept of myth, observe its religious and political aspects and analyze the configuration that the author gave to myth in his work. In general, mythic re-creation showed itself to be an insufficient concept to the literary analysis and interpretation, since limiting the novel to its mythic-religious sphere leads to poor comprehension of the work. The research also revealed that between myth and history there are several sense transference processes, which operate thanks to the author\'s storytelling and creativity, so that historic elements were incorporated to the work in twisted, veiled and at times mythologized ways, just as mythic elements conduce severe critics to nazist ideology and politics. Mythic aspects of the work operate above all to create moral guidelines within which characters act, besides making room for the reader to participate in the construction of the sense of the work, as he gets involved by the configured mythic system. On its turn, the historicity of this work counts above all with the instability of formal elements as well as of the paradoxes and vicissitudes engendered by mythic elements to indicate, far more than the record of a time, the literary projection of a historic dilemma. In other words, this novel is deeply critical and historicizing precisely because it does not employ realistic descriptive and stable language; it is in the recognition of the precariety of expression - on those moments that only multireferenced and delirious language can approach a problematic historic context - that the possibility for lucidity and elaboration shimmers on the horizon.

Tarzia, Milena January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This thesis aims to understand and question the existence, the performance and the role played by the myth of Dionysos-Zagreus in the Orphic tradition of classical Greece, and in the eventual dramatization of these mysteries. Is this really the cardinal myth of Orphism or is it a fiction intentionally provoked by the apologetic readings of nineteenth-century scholars? Is an innovative anthropogony integrated into it or is there no evidence for such a theoretical construction? The antiquity, content and centrality of the myth have been the subject of wide debate among scholars. These debates often fit in with misleading and induced images of sources, references, methods, and research materials. While some interpreters and commentators insert its origin and, above all, its propagation, from the 5th century BCE, others, influenced by the eighteenth century and the appeals of the hypercritic, advocate the inexistence of both, myth and the doctrine of original sin, that supposedly would be part of the composition of this narrative. Armed with perspectives and plural interpretations, this research aims to search the history of the Orphic tradition, looking for images that account for this intrinsic multiplicity and characteristic of the Dionysian universe, in order to analyze also the beliefs peculiar to the practices of dramatic representation and if they would be present in the Orphic ritual, especially in the classical period, from the symbology established at the time by the te... Obraz makedonské identity v makedonských učebnicích dějepisu pro základní školy / Image of the Macedonian identity in the Macedonian history textbooks for primary schools

Fantlová, Tereza January 2009 (has links)
Diploma thesis Image of the Macedonian identity in the Macedonian history textbooks for primary schools brings an analysis of the history textbooks from the period since 80's till nowadays. The core of the text is analysis and previous chapters inform reader about the historiography in Republic of Macedonia, its relation to the state policy, other chapters speak about Macedonian identity and about the creation process of Macedonian textbooks and their importance for the process of building national identity. The analysis showed that the story of national history in textbooks have changed after the breakup of Yugoslavia. Brotherhood and unity of Yugoslavian nations disappeared together with dissolution of federation. After proclamation of independence of the new formed Republic of Macedonia historiography of the country have turned towards the antic history of Macedonia. Macedonians highly stress the difference between two antic nations - Macedonians and Greeks. The attitude to the Serbian nation changed as well and they are now evaluated the same foes of Macedonian nation as well as Bulgarians and Greeks. There is a tendency in the textbooks to make national heroes from several historical figures. School materials also tend to depict the Macedonian nation as a victim of neighboring nations and...
