O Mito do HerÃi nas Obras O GaÃcho e O Sertanejo de Josà de Alencar / The myth of hero in the works O GaÃcho and O Sertanejo by Josà de AlencarGabriele Freixeiras de Freitas 08 April 2015 (has links)
Este trabalho terà como apoio teÃrico os pensadores Mircea Eliade (1972), AfrÃnio Coutinho (1995, 1999), LukÃcs (2000), Araripe JÃnior (1980), dentre outros estudiosos da Ãrea / The objects of study in this dissertation are the aspects of the hero in the regionalist works O Sertanejo (1875) and O GaÃcho (1870), by Josà de Alencar. Through heroic characters, like Arnaldo and Manuel Canho, the writer from Cearà develops protagonists who represent the different regions of Brazil, thus basing his works on his project valuing the âlocal colorâ and the affirmation of a national identity. Guided by the aspects of the hero within the Romantic Movement, we will discuss some relevant features that can both differentiate and approach the characters to the heroes represented in other literary periods. To do so, we will draw a brief overview of the importance of the myth in archaic societies, as well as the origin and development of the mythologem of the hero. Through a detailed study of the hero from Alencarâs point of view, we intend to show how the author makes use of heroic aspects traditionally found in the Greek epopees and tragedies, strengthening the influence of the Homeric narrative in Western culture. However, the hero of the novel, as well as the own genre to which it belongs, has at its core the contradiction, the quest for the realization of their subjectivity in an objective world. Indeed, the hero, responsible for representing the novel, embodies the misfit in adapting to the society they live in and their inability to carry out the desires of the soul in a world unable to achieve them. This dissertation is based on the Works of Mircea Eliade (1972), AfrÃnio Coutinho (1995, 1999), LukÃcs (2000), Araripe JÃnior (1980), among other researchers

O mito e o maravilhoso na literatura infantil de Alina PaimSantos, Aline Suelen 02 May 2012 (has links)
Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This study proposes a mythical-symbolic reading on three children narratives O lenço encantado (1962), A casa da coruja verde (1962) e Luzbela vestida de cigana (1963), by Alina Paim, based on myth and fantastic present in children‟s books. To do so, it is grounded in literary criticism toward the children‟s and youth‟s literature held by Regina Zilberman (2005) and Tzvetan Todorov (2010), in order to show the importance of this type of literature on ethical education of the child, as well as the anthropology of the imaginary defended by Gilbert Durand (1989) and the myth criticism of Elieser Mielietinski (2002), aiming at emphasizing the presence of some archetypal images in the process of the child´s imagination created by the author, considering the account of myths and symbols that are taken during the human being´s quest for identity and Knowledge.

In this work, that consists of a case study, having as urban scene and stage the mythical “Manchester Mineira” (heading conferred to the city of Juiz de Fora, in reason of its glorious industrial past), I look for to emphasize and to analyze the relation between myth and cultural tourism, from the referring anthropological theory to the first one, placed at risk in practical (touristic and ethnographic) concerning to as. My insertion, as participant, in constant “the historical-cultural” stroll of the Project “To live Juiz de Fora – discover this city”, that it is promoted by the City hall of this city, allowed me to observe - “of close and of inside” - as the myth operates there as mediating symbolic of the dialogue established between an objective and official history, told by means of the disclosed patrimony, and subjective histories of the “tourist-natives”, that they revitalize (symbolically) this patrimony with tourist practical its. It is treated, therefore, of a ethnography of a stroll of end of week (or of “Sunday”), of one to make tourism (cultural) in the proper city where if it lives, not of a form independent and isolated, but collective and mediated by agents of the State in its municipal sphere. In this case, the displacement in the space implies a displacement in the time, in the direction of the construction of a collective memory. Revitalized in this practical of revitalization of the historical-cultural heritage of the city, the myth supplies to these “tourist-natives” the symbols to be thought as members of a ampler community about the space and in the time, thus fomenting a feeling of belongs to the city. I conclude affirming that this form to make tourism is also a form of (re)inventing traditions, cultures, histories and cities.

Previous issue date: 2012-04-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work, called Appearance of the clown: a rational-christian myth to birth poetry, is
an interpretive reading of the poem of the same name by L. Ruas based on some
theories about the myth, christianity, philosophy and art. It is, in particular, the ideas of
Theodor Adorno, Max Horkheimer and Martin Heidegger on the need of man be
reunited with art in a world of utilitarian vision. This hermeneutical study proposed
here, identifies the construction of two myths, which are related to the same lyrical I of
the poem. In making such narratives, the palhaço and his first form, the clown, have
great importance, because they who, after being evoked by I, direct all actions of the
poem. In the first myth, there is a critique of instrumental reason, which is framed by
christian elements. In this reality evoked by palhaço, the reason becomes utilitarian,
misrepresent themselves to produce a knowledge able to dominate nature, banishing the
symbolic representations and artistic of life. The solution for those who want to separate
out this context of oppression and, at the same time, fight it, lies in the construction of
the second mythic reality: the poetry.
No primeiro mito,

Previous issue date: 2009-04-13 / This dissertation has as its aim to examine according to praxis of Comparative Literature, the lyrical poetry of two important representatives of Brazilian and of one African contemporary literature. The research begins with critical reflections about modernity and contemporaneousness as present in the poems of Manoel de Barros, considered some contributions of academic criticism about his poetics and pointed out to a possible place for this poet in Brazilian Literature. We made efforts for outlining the ways followed by the other two poets, João Cabral de Melo Neto and Corsino Fortes, tackling the reception literary criticism gave to his productions. Then the research centered in theoretical reflections about
subjectivity and its ramifications in the studied poems. This allowed a discussion of the lyric subject, the image and the flame of eroticism. In a third moment, the research revolved around approaches of signs of childhood as lived experiences according to lyric memory, contributing to the presence of myth. The work still centered in metalanguage, as well in a
search under words that evoke the mineral and to language childhood, producing a meeting of stones, rivers, islands and wind which goes beyond intertextual metaphor. We integrated and usefulness to this bibliographical survey three unpublished interviews. The first with the poet Manoel de Barros, the second with Antônio Carlos Secchin, from UFRJ, and the third with Simone Caputo Gomes, one of the main researchers of the Center of African Researchs of the University of São Paulo / Esta dissertação teve como objetivo, à luz de Literatura Comparada, proceder a uma pesquisa sobre a poesia lírica de dois grandes representantes da literatura brasileira e um da literatura cabo-verdiana.

Previous issue date: 2013-08-29 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / This thesis posits that the interplay of social forces of modernity engendered transformations
constitutive of black interwoven plots by socio-political creation and recreation of the myth of
racial democracy. The research involved the insights of race as universality inherent human
relationship with equals and different. Thus, it was decided, as a research methodology, the
study of bibliographic nature. And, from the understanding of intellectual fecundity of mothers
who formulated the Brazilian social thought, defined as the main theoretical framework of this
thesis works of Octavio Ianni and Florestan Fernandes, given the pioneering studies on race
relations in Brazil, specifically on the black race. The research allowed theoretically the
establishment of the following categories: race, history, class and politics. Such categories
legitimize certain contradictions and call the mediation of race as constitutive of unfolding
nexus of social relations conditioned by historical factors, and class policies. It is understood
that the race is a logical-historical category, a social construction. Accordingly, the pair of
singularities constitutive of the racial issue, so the three races, we chose to specifically study
the black race, the black Brazilian constitution, transformation, dilution and historical
recreation of the social forces at play. How to study and research this problem, three chapters
were proposed from the split of interracial relationships and the prospect of black Brazil:
"discovery / consolidation", "national identity / modernization" and "note history / founding
myth". The first aims to reveal and elaborate the meaning of the past of the black race in the
formation of the Brazilian people. The second chapter exposes the contradiction as race-class
transition and rupture of the colonial and monarchical to the process of constitution of modern
Brazil, from the metamorphosis of the nation, the social type, sociability, culture and condition
of the social fabric in black . The third attempts to grasp the challenges of race-class
contradiction in contemporary, through the specific term from the kaleidoscope of
miscegenation with the ideology of the lack of inter-racial conflict until the contemporary state
policies with positive discrimination. We conclude that the insights of the metamorphosis of
black reconfigured by the myth of racial democracy is to reveal the relationships race-class.
Historically, race, race condition, was set by the identity and legitimized by social mark that is
the color. The class condition - belonging to a social class - was subsumed to the proclamation
of democracy, citizenship, diversity. What is in question is a past-present the contradictions
arising from the capital. So proclaim themselves ideals of equality in the name of ideals of a
"racial identity" that affirms and resolves in appearance. The socioeconomic status became
positive element insertion, social inclusion policy, which moved from place to become global
determination.
estabelecer as seguintes categorias: raça, história, classe e política.
O segundo capítulo expõe a contradição raça-
Historicamente, a raça, a condição
pelas contradições oriundas do capital.
A condição

Previous issue date: 2014-09-26 / Since ancient times, the vampire is known in almost every culture, being subject of
legends, literary narratives and others works of art. It is a myth born in orality, which
entered the world of artistic endeavors, reminding us of our subjection to Eros and
the passage of time –and its main consequences: aging and death (Thanatos). This
dissertation outlines the vampire myth, particularly in Literature, and looks into some
specific short stories of the 19th and 20th centuries - "The Vampyre" by John Polidori;
"The Fall of the House of Usher " by Edgar Allan Poe; and "The Horla" (1st and
2nd versions), by Guy de Maupassant; "Eles herdarão a terra" by Dinah Silveira de
Queiroz; "Albino" by Heleno Godoy; and "Potyra" by Lygia Fagundes Telles. These
narratives can offer not only a vision of the vampire’s peculiarities, already established
by tradition, but also they introduce new aspects. With that corpus in mind, we
intend to approach key issues of human nature - love, death and the time - related to
the fascination created through time by the vampire’s myth. Therefore, our goal here
is connected with one question: how the vampire becomes a reflection of mankind’s
journey, and in that way, inspires our hopes and fears related to the obstacles that
have us imprisoned. We rely on the theoretical assumptions of Hans Meyerhoff, Edgar
Morin, Philippe Aries and Françoise Dastur concerning the passing time and the
anguish of man towards death. In addition, we have brought some ideas from Sigmund
Freud and Donaldo Schüler. Through Gaston Bachelard and Mircea Eliade’s
symbolic hermeneutics, we have studied such symbols as the night, the moon, the
water, the blood and the mirror, part of the vampiric imagery detected in the studied
texts, and related to the mentioned themes.
tempo – cuja consequência maior é o envelhecimento e a morte (Tânatos).
Essas narrativas proporcionam
longo do tempo.
mencionados temas.

Previous issue date: 2017-02-20 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Jane Austen’s most famous novel, Pride and Prejudice, was published in 1813.
It portraits the lives of the daughters from the Bennet family, who need to get
married in order to maintain themselves. It is a novel about women: it was
written by a woman, its narrator has a feminine perspective and focuses on
another woman, Elizabeth Bennet. The book also discusses typical female
problems in the XIX century England. The persistent retelling of Pride and
Prejudice in movies, series, novels indicates how the Austenian work keeps
enchanting the public because it discusses topics such as love and people’s
ability to judge a character. These are humaninity’s most relevant archetypical
preoccupations and, before Austen, they appeared in myths and fairytales such
as Cupid and Psyche and Beauty and the Beast. This dissertation aims to
analyze Pride and Prejudice comparing it to the Greek myth and French
fairytale, focusing on the female initiation processes experienced by Elizabeth,
Psyche and Beauty. This dissertation has a qualitative, bibliographical and
comparative approach. The most important theoretical texts used to discuss it
were Rites and Symbols of Initiation: the mysteries of birth and rebirth (1975) by
Mircea Eliade, Jane Eyre’s sisters: how women live and write the heroine’s
story (2015) by Jody Bower, The annotated Pride and Prejudice (2012) by Jane
Austen with notes by David Shapard, Caminho para a iniciação feminina (1985)
by Sylvia Perera and O poder do mito (1990) de Joseph Campbell. As a result,
it is possible to conclude that the female initiation has a prominent role in this
Austenian novel and makes it possible to be constantly reread.
Sob a
discutir problemas tipicamente femininos do século XIX inglês.
pesquisa foram Rites and Symbols of Initiation: the mysteries of birth and
rebirth (1975) de Mircea Eliade, Jane Eyre’s sisters: how women live and write
the heroine’s story (2015) de Jody Bower, The annotated Pride and Prejudice

Previous issue date: 2017-03-31 / Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás - FAPEG / This study sought to understand how the finding myth of Santa do Rosário constitutes the
Congadas of Catalão in its reaffirmation in the annual rituals and festivities of Nossa Senhora
do Rosário’s Festival in this city, from the studies by Brandão (1985). The material of our
investigation was made up of narratives and oral songs about this festivity, related to history,
life and experiences of members from this cultural and religious manifestation. The narratives
were enunciated by ten (10) participants, recorded in field, which were transcribed and
analyzed. Thereby, this study becomes relevant, because aims to reach the community of
‘dançadores’, the trading population and researchers by showing the myth’s dynamics in the
festival, as culture and religious manifestation in the city. The material of our analysis to
identify, describe and analyze the myth as a historical reinforcement had as study perspective
the interrelationship between language and culture in the understanding of the linguistic and
cultural elements of the founding and legitimizing myth of this practice of religion and
popular culture in central Brazil, sitting the research in the bias of Anthropological
Linguistics. For this purpose, we used the studies by Coelho (2006), Fiorin (2003), Platão
(2001), Saussure (2012), Sapir (1969), Bakhtin (1987), Bosi (1987; 1992), Machado (2002),
among others, which has guided us. The research is of mixed qualitative nature, because it
involved study in laboratory and field. Our results confirmed the hypothesis that in various
forms of language of ‘congadeiros’ (in our case, narratives and songs), we can understand the
configurations of Nossa Senhora do Rosário’s Festival, because in these forms the mythical
plot of the finding of Santa do Rosário was reaffirmed in an uncontested way, recreating
historical and linguistic memories of this community.
Coelho (2006); Fiorin (2003); Platão (2001); Saussure (2012); Sapir (1969); Bakhtin (1987);
Bosi (1987); Bosi (1992); Machado (2002) dentre outros. A pesquisa é de natureza qualitativa
mista, porque envolveu estudo em laboratório e em campo. Nossos resultados confirmaram a
