Med sikte mot idrott för alla : Integrationsprojekt med kvinnor av annan etnisk bakgrund / With the aim of sport for all : Integration project with women of other ethnic background

Holmefur, Hanna-Maria January 2018 (has links)
This qualitative study has been conducted by request of Västerbottensidrottsförbund. The aim of the study has been to create knowledge about how the sports movement can work toward their goal of a lifelong sport engagement for all. Specifically, for women with another ethnic background than the Swedish one. During a period of ten weeks four different sport associations who had been granted funds by Västerbottensidrottsförbund were interviewed concerning their projects towards increasing the involvement in sport amongst this group of women of age 15 or older. Four participants in these projects were also interviewed to give light to their experience of the sport activity. The results were consistent with previous studies showing that it is important to adapt to the cultural and religious aspects in order to reach them. It also showed that the most challenging parts concerned getting participants and creating a continuous involvement together with the communication of information. All four associations had found ways to deal with this and had innovative ideas on how to better motivate the target group to participate in their sport activities. They did this by creating sport activities for mothers and daughters to do together as well as creating a place to talk and work on their confidence. However difficult it might have been to get them there the results showed that there was a hunger amongst this group for physical activities and all four associations have continued with their projects by request of the participants and some participants had even started in other sport activities as well.

“I’m surprised that I survived all these years” : An Exploratory Study of the Experiences of LGBT Asylum Seekers. / “Jag är förvånad att jag överlevt alla dessa år” : En utforskande studie av asylsökande HBT-personers erfarenheter.

Byström, Markus, Wood, Ina January 2018 (has links)
Research on forced migration has largely ignored asylum seekers from sexual and gender minorities. This exploratory study aimed to examine both positive and negative experiences of LGBT asylum seekers who had migrated to Sweden. Within the study, experiences prior to migration, during transit, and after arrival in Sweden were conceptualized as a process. Guided by the research question “How do LGBT asylum seekers describe positive and negative experiences of their asylum journeys?”, semi-structured interviews with eleven LGBT asylum seekers were conducted and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. The analysis resulted in five themes; 1. Living Under Threat, 2. Into the Abyss, 3. Living in Suspension, 4. External Sources of Support and 5. Strength from Within. Considerable stressors were reported, spanning form pre- to post migration. LGBT asylum seekers are found to be an especially vulnerable group that demonstrates considerable internal resources.

Salvador

Educação física no Hospital Psiquiátrico São Pedro : uma experiência de familiarização e estranhamento nas entrelinhas dos relatos de estágio / Physical education in São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital : an experience of familiarity and estrangement between the lineas of the stories of practice

Santos, Deise Francelle dos January 2016 (has links)
This research aims to understand how the graduate students in Physical Education report their experiences with the patients’ confinement during the internship in mental health at São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital (HPSP). The study is based on the theoretical contributions made from the movement for the Anti-Asylum and the Psychiatric Reform, and search analytical inspiration in the principles of deinstitutionalization. The research was based on qualitative cutting with its methodology centered on document analysis proposed by André Cellard (2008; 2012), and also, improved by the experience of the researcher on the spot. The investigation had two stages developed between the months of October 2015 and April 2016. The first refers to two months of continuous experience researcher had at the familiarization stage within the mental health services offered by the Psychiatric Hospital St. Pedro. The second emerges from the documentary analysis of internship reports on mental health of Physical Education students who conducted their internships at the same institution. From the analysis of the reports, it was noticeable that the internship in mental health has been treated more from the perspective of demand compliance to the familiarization with HPSP than a movement of estrangement to control maintenance and confinement of patients in these days. In these demands the internship in Physical Education also appeared as a containment tool, trapped in a care organic logic. It is possible to tell that the internship ends incorporating asylum features, leaving little space for reflection on the substitutive services and its commitment to social reintegration of the patients. In conclusion, I believe that stop deepen the effects of psychiatric reform is necessary to set also in motion a movement "anti-asylum-internship".

Problematika integrace dětí azylantů a imigrantů žijících v ČR / Integration of Recognized Refugees and Immigrants Children living in the Czech Republic

HODOUŠOVÁ, Jana January 2011 (has links)
The issue of integration of children of asylum seekers and immigrants living in the Czech Republic is the theme of the thesis. I have chosen the topic because I find it very interesting and an up-to-day subject which is in the way of all citizens of the Czech Republic. I have focused the theoretical part on clarifying some concepts, such as: asylum seeker, immigrant, foreigner, refugee, unaccompanied minors, integration and other ones. The aim of the thesis is to find out obstacles for the integration of children of asylum seekers and immigrants living in the Czech Republic. For the implementation of the research part of the thesis, I have chosen the qualitative type of research - the method of interview - the technique of interview. A sociometric test has been chosen as a complementary method. The research was conducted in Permon, a facility for foreign children, from January 2011 to March 2011. The Research Group No 1 consisted of ten immigrant children from 7 to18 years old (in case of students their age could be 21 years at the utmost). The research of asylum seeking children was not enabled. The facility is obliged to protect the children and does not provide any information about them. I have processed the results through the form of case studies. For the purpose of the research implementation, I have divided the integration into five areas (language, culture, housing, social relations and needs). A questionnaire designed by PhDr. Kovařík and Prof. Dunovský was another independent part of my research. In the area of language, it came in sight that most immigrant children communicate in Czech language which they learned from their parents or, and it is very rare, in detention facilities for foreigners. The most frequent problem in this area is writing (spelling). In the area of culture, it came in sight that despite the possibility to observe customs of their original countries, very few respondents cherish them here in the Czech Republic. Customs and traditions differ from country to country, but it does not hinder the integration of children of immigrants. As for the area of housing, all respondents are living in the facility for children ? immigrants. They travel home, if there is the home, only at weekends or according to capability of their parents. All but two respondents are happy at home. In the area of social relations, it came in sight that if respondents need any help, they mostly approach teachers and educators but also friends and parents. In the last area, the area of needs, it came in sight that the most frequent need is to be with their families and then the need for greater freedom. The additional questionnaire for children revealed that what respondents are the most worried about is that they will not see their families any more. On the other hand, weekends spent with their families and leaving the facility are the two things that they are looking forward to the most. It is possible to say that respondents feel that the facility is a barrier which prevents them from integration into mainstream society and deprives them from their freedom. The sociometric test was performed in one secondary school and in one primary school in the town of Písek in February and March 2011. The Research Group No 2 consisted of students of different grades and age (7-17 years old) including foreigners. The test was performed in five classes. The test results showed that foreign children have no problem with their integration. Based on the results of the sociometric test, it is possible to take the assumption that the origin of children is not an obstacle in communication with other children. This assumption can be a basis for more extensive research. It is possible to use the thesis as a basis for any quantitative research. What is more, the thesis can serve the general public to increase their awareness of this issue.

Parallels and Meridians - A Transatlantic Comparative Study of Unaccompanied Minors Seeking Asylum

January 2016 (has links)
abstract: Immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers. Three words describing the same group of people. Individuals seeking a better, safer life. Western media is focused right now, in 2016, on the humanitarian crisis from the Middle East to the European Union; just like two years ago it was centered on the huge numbers of unaccompanied minors immigrating into the United States from Central America. Media changes its focus but problems do not end with a change of headlines. Unaccompanied minors are the most vulnerable population looking for asylum. This study looks at two different immigration flows of unaccompanied minors: one from the Middle East going to the European Union; and the other one from Central America to the United States. This research finds similarities and differences between these two flows of migrant children related to the reasons why they leave their countries of origin, their experiences during the trip to the destination countries, the asylum process, the legal status of these children and how these minors are perceived by societies in the destination countries. Using a human rights law framework, this thesis will explore the continuum of violations of human rights that these children endure on their journey from their origin countries to their destination states. Through interviews with former and current direct providers of unaccompanied minors seeking asylum, previous scholarly work, documentaries and news articles on the subject, it will make clear that these two flows of children fleeing to different destinations have much more in common than what may be initially perceived. This emergent, exploratory and inductive qualitative research will bring light to asylum law and question why the social responsibility to protect children seems to skip the most vulnerable ones: unaccompanied minors seeking asylum. / Dissertation/Thesis / Documents to be included in addendum / Masters Thesis Social Justice and Human Rights 2016

The welfare state and the social rights of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children who have reached the age of majority

Cadei Fritz, Matilda January 2018 (has links)
In recent years, the numbers of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) arriving to Europe have drastically increased. Due to delays in the asylum procedure, many UASC have turned 18 years old before the asylum procedure has ended. These adolescents need access to welfare services but they often lose several social rights when they reach adulthood. In this light, I have investigated the social rights of UASC who have reached the age of majority by using Esping-Andersen’s theory of welfare state regimes. I find that the social rights of this group vary between Germany, the conservative welfare state regime, and Sweden, the social democratic welfare state regime. However, in both of the countries, this group in general have limited access to welfare services. This is problematic since social rights are crucial for incorporation in the society. The findings are in several ways in line with the main characteristics in the two regimes but in order to fully understand what determines the social rights of UASC who have reached the age of majority further research is needed.

Looking for knowing the differences that mark the experiences of getting old in the modern society through practices which were developped by old voluntary women of a charity association, close to old people who live in an asylum in the city of Campina Grande - PB. The Associação Internacional de Caridades (AIC - Charity International Association), core of Campina Grande - PB,it corresponds to a feminine, lay organization composed mostly by old women of middle class in which attends to socialy excluded segments, between them, old people in asylums. The meeting between oldness make possible that old people inserted in these groups and contexts prepare a self-image, stablish relations of gerational sociability and exercise the principle of alterity constructed in the interpersonal relation between myself and the other in oldness. The heterogeneus character that distinguish the old person in the present time, discussed by scholars, is spotlightened in the research that was realized. The stablished relationship between the cheritable and the refugee reveals multiple meanings that involve the oldness and enlighten the aspects of subjectivity and identity of the old people who integrate the reported groups.
