Online marketing communication tools used by guest houses in the Pretoria East RegionMarx, Nadia 03 April 2014 (has links)
Online marketing communication provides some of the cutting edge tools that can be used by guest houses to communicate their product and service offerings. The purpose of this study was to determine which online marketing communication tools can be used, and are in fact currently used by guest houses in Pretoria East. The results obtained from this study can assist guest house owner/managers in Pretoria East with decision-making on the communication of off-line and online marketing communication tools to be included in their marketing strategy. Primary data was collected by means of a survey with guest house owners/managers in Pretoria East. Specific corpographic details of guest houses in Pretoria East were identified. Furthermore, the most frequently used off-line and online marketing communication tools were identified, as well as the number of guest houses that have websites and the content of these websites. The findings suggest that guest houses in Pretoria East have to invest more time and money in implementing certain online marketing communication tools, such as social networking and use of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). By implementing online marketing communication tools like these, guest houses in Pretoria East could enhance customers‟ awareness of a guest house. This study verified the importance of electronic tools such as the Internet and Web as an integral part of an organisation‟s marketing strategy, specifically for small businesses in the service sector, such as guest houses. / Business Management / M. Barriers and motivators to online grocery shopping in South Africa : a supply chain perspectiveSnyman, Alicia Neva 11 1900 (has links)
Online grocery retailing holds potentially fruitful outcomes for retailers in South Africa. However, South African retailers and consumers have been slow to adopt and participate in this form of grocery retailing. This study explores the barriers and motivators to online grocery shopping in South Africa from a supply chain perspective. Therefore, the study was done from both the customer and the retailer’s perspective. Three qualitative data collection methods were employed to collect the data. Firstly, a website analysis of four e-grocers was conducted and compared. Secondly, two focus group discussions were conducted – among consumers who use online grocery shopping, and those who do not. Thirdly, an in-depth interview was conducted with one of the online operations managers of an e-grocer in South Africa. The results revealed four different ‘sets’ of motivators or barriers to online grocery shopping in South Africa: consumer-specific, retailer-specific, website-specific and supply chain-specific. Results from this study could be used to shed some light on how to overcome the hurdles of becoming a multi-channel grocery retailer in South Africa. / Business Management / M. Com. Previous issue date: 2017-05-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / Data and text mining applications managing Web data have been the subject of recent research. In every case, data mining tasks need to work on clean, consistent, and integrated data for obtaining the best results. Thus, Data Warehouse environments are a valuable source of clean, integrated data for data mining applications. Data Warehouse technology has evolved to retrieve and process data from the Web. In particular, news websites are rich sources that can compose a linguistic corpus. By inserting corpus into a Data Warehousing environment, applications can take advantage of the flexibility that a multidimensional model and OLAP operations provide. Among the benefits are the navigation through the data, the selection of the part of the data considered relevant, data analysis at different levels of abstraction, and aggregation, disaggregation, rotation and filtering over any set of data. This paper presents Newsminer, a data warehouse environment, which provides a consistent and clean set of texts in the form of a multidimensional corpus for consumption by external applications and users. The proposal includes an architecture that integrates the gathering of news in real time, a semantic enrichment module as part of the ETL stage, which adds semantic properties to the data such as news category and POS-tagging annotation and the access to data cubes for consumption by applications and users. Two experiments were performed. The first experiment selects the best news classifier for the semantic enrichment module. The statistical analysis of the results indicated that the Perceptron classifier achieved the best results of F-measure, with a good result of computational time. The second experiment collected data to evaluate real-time news preprocessing. For the data set collected, the results indicated that it is possible to achieve online processing time. / OB800972

Previous issue date: 2014-09-18 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The study investigated the transparency of local councils in light of Access to Information Act from empirical evidence of the largest brazilian municipalities. This is a descriptive study, conducted through a survey study with predominantly qualitative approach. The information s and data were collected from observations in the websites and registered through an observational protocol. The research reveals that most of the websites assessed partially complies with the indicators of transparency: There are 120 websites (90.22%) that partially fulfilled the obligations imposed by Access to Information Act; 6 websites (4.51%) that showed no instruments of transparency due to the lack of web presence; and only 7 homepages (5.26%) configured high capacity of transparency. The results demonstrate the need to redefine the practices of information management and develop a more transparent organizational culture in these local councils. It is essential to create websites able to comply with legal requirements and to improve transparency quality so as to promote more effective means of accountability in society.

Responsabilidade civil por danos à pessoa humana oriundos do uso de perfis falsos em sites de redes sociais / Civil liability for damage to the human person from the use of fake profiles on social networking sitesJoão Victor Rozatti Longhi 03 July 2011 (has links)
The popularization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) like Internet brought undeniable changes for many. The legal regulation of these new habits must be harmonized with the quirks of such legal relations. This work aims to analyze the problem of the civil liability for moral injuries due to the creation and use fake profiles on the online social network websites. First, it studies some preliminary notions about the Internet and some legal opinions about its governance. After, the issue is restricted to the study of moral injuries at the civil constitutional legal doctrine measure as a damage to the human dignity of person. Finally, the work arrives at the fake profiles and the moral injuries caused by it. Then comes three sub-problems: if the user is legal incapable or not, taking to the study of profiles children and adolescent; if the person represented at the online profile really exists or not, taking to the problems about identity theft and intellectual property violations, and; if the person is alive or not, taking to the topic of deceased persons profiles.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This dissertation’s main purpose is to discuss forms of militancy in a scenario characterized by the increase in the use of the social networking websites for militant purposes and by the auto-organization as general tendencies since the June 2013 protests, focusing on the feminist struggle in Aracaju. As a more specific issue, it aimed to apprehend the rules and principles, framings, organizational forms and profiles of feminist militancy constituted in this scenario, as well as means and tools used to include their demands in the public arenas of confrontation. From the analytical point of view, the study was based on the assumption that, in order to give intelligibility to the feminist militancy, it was necessary to resort to the gender relations analyses (and its intersections with race, class and sexuality) and to feminist theories, in addition to the general concepts of the sociology of social movements used in this work, given that the women depiction in the public range and the roles historically attributed to them are conceived here as important factors that help us understand the political participation and the organizational forms and tools mobilized in this type of militancy. Assuming a critical perspective that aims to comprehend the logic of formal and informal exclusions of the subordinate groups like women in the public scope demands, conversely, an approach on the points of view of the agents studied about the public, the political participation and the organizational forms presented as an alternative to those institutionalized, as a way of resisting. Therefore, this dissertation’s epistemic-methodological background relied on some tenets of the Latournian sociology in what concerns group formation and also on a feminist epistemology, especially Donna Haraway’s approach, in order to apprehend the feminist movements’ and engagements’ own logics and dynamics from the fieldwork. The research evinced, in general, that the depictions related to the women generated by the gender subordination are expressed in a number of ways as constraints to the feminists’ political participation, however, from another perspective, the emotions that are incongruent with the standard depictions about “being woman” (which varies according to race, class, sexuality, gender identity, among others), converted into moral emotions and a sense of injustice, have played a crucial role to understand the motivations to the individual engagement, the constitution of new collective identities of the movement, and the creation of their own organizational forms. In other words, women’s auto-organization and their autonomous means of publicizing their demands, through the Marchs, the social networking websites, and art in general, are alternatives developed through a feminist vocabulary, constituted from the verification of women’s subordination in the gender relations and the misery experienced in an everyday basis, so that their demands, regarded as merely “private” issues or “secondary” questions, are included in the public arenas and widely debated by society.

Responsive Web design : Ett fullvärdigt alternativ till plattformsspecifik utveckling?Karlsson, Stefan, Michelle, Davis January 2013 (has links)

Scoping and developing the potential for SAPS online service deliverySonderling, Nelly Elizabeth 21 April 2005 (has links)
This study gives guidelines to enhance online service delivery by the South African Police Service (SAPS by means of its website. It makes various recommendations to achieve this, following various investigations. The SAPS describes its primary goal as “service to the public”. This is in line with the South African government’s Batho Pele (“People first”) initiative to improve the delivery of public services. However, as society is changing in response to the demands of the Internet Age, service providers (for the purpose of this study, police agencies) must, too, adjust. The application of e-Governance will enable these agencies to serve the public with a wide variety of information and services. This study makes recommendations in this regard as well. In the initial study for this work user needs regarding the establishment of the SAPS website were assessed. Subsequently a study was conducted to determine best practices in various English-speaking countries, using an evaluation framework compiled for this purpose. Based on the results gained a measuring instrument was designed to evaluate the SAPS website. Four expert evaluators were then requested to do so. This resulted in an assessment of possible shortcomings of the SAPS website and recommendations for enhancing online service delivery and e-Governance. / Dissertation (MSc)--University of Pretoria, 2005. / Information Science / unrestricted
