Scrumptious:A Scrum Planning Tool Case Study to Evaluate the Rich Ajax Platform

Häggbom, Fredrik, Olsson Haglund, Erik January 2009 (has links)
During the last year Tieto has been interested in evaluating the potential of a newly developed technology called Rich Ajax Platform (RAP). The RAP technology allows the developer to write Java code and deploy it on the web as a Rich Internet Application (RIA)with similar look and feel as a regular application ran in for example Microsoft Windows. The biggest benefit with a RIA is that it offers similar features to stand-alone applications but these features are deployed via a web server i.e. no installation at the client side is needed. To evaluate this technique a Scrum handler prototype was developed using the RAP. Secondly, a comparison with another similar technique called Google Web Toolkit had been made. The Scrum process is an agile development method which is based on small iterations. The purpose of this study was to create a functional prototype in order to evaluate and demonstrate the RAP technology. The result of the evaluation is that RAP is a strong competitor for developing Web 2.0 applications. Most of the concerns regarding RAP depend on the fact that it is a new technology and is still under development. Since Tieto in Karlstad currently develops RCPapplications, the RAP technology is a logical successor since the developers do not have to learn a new technology.

Technologies du Web Sémantique pour l’Entreprise 2.0 / Semantic Web Technologies for Enterprise 2.0

Passant, Alexandre 09 June 2009 (has links)
The work described in this thesis provides different methods, thoughts and implementations combining Web 2.0 and the Semantic Web. After introducing those terms, we present the current shortcomings of tools such as blogs and wikis as well as tagging practices in an Enterprise 2.0 context. We define the SemSLATES methodology and the global vision of a middleware architecture based on Semantic Web technologies (languages, models, tools and protocols) to solve these issues. Then, we detail the various ontologies (as in computer science) that we build to achieve this goal: on the one hand models dedicated to socio-structural meta-data, by actively contributing to SIOC - Semantically-Interlinked Online Communities -, and on the other hands models extending public ontologies for domain data. Moreover, the MOAT ontology - Meaning Of A Tag – allows us to combine the flexibility of tagging and the power of ontology-based indexing. We then describe several software implementations, at EDF R&D, dedicated to easily produce and use semantic annotations to enrich original tools: semantic wikis, advanced visualization interfaces (faceted browsing, semantic mash-ups, etc.) and a semantic search engine. Several contributions have been published as public ontologies or open-source software, contributing more generally to this convergence between Web 2.0 and the Semantic Web, not only in enterprise but on the Web as a whole.

Innovations, with inspirations from a socio-technical perspective : “A research of AB Electrolux intranet ‘E-gate’ and their product development process”

Sonesson, Mikael January 2013 (has links)
AB Electrolux is a company that focuses on innovative products and collaborationamongst others. Today, they are using their intranet “E-gate” to enhance collaboration.AB Electrolux has recently introduced new Web 2.0 social media technology on E-gate.In contemporary business, it seems like social media and innovations are hot topics; butit is not easy, to implement social media, create innovations, and also make use of it inan organisation. In a majority of organisations are these matters often overrepresented. In organisation different policies, rules, guidelines and employees are involved duringchanges, and this is aiding organisations to establish how social media features canenhance and promote innovation.Nowadays, innovation is significant to organisations, especially when it comes togain advantages toward competitors or when trying to advance in the marketplace. Inthis thesis the collected information is objectively applied. This, in order to gainqualitative knowledge about subjects of interest such as; cultural issues, knowledgemanagement and the socio-technical perspective – because these areas could beconsidered to have a huge effect and impact on innovation. Further it could have aneffect on how innovation emerges in organisations. This is of importance especially inareas such as knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer. The results are showing: Organisational culture and knowledge management plays acrucial and important part of innovation. These areas must be considered iforganisations are implementing or using new technology. It is also to be recommendedwhen organisations are trying to enhance the pace of innovations. In this thesis I havealso constructed a model that illustrates how an organisation could create an innovativeatmosphere, along with a socio-technical perspective.

Sustainability of a web 2.0 application from the perspective of Actor Network Theory : The case of Libguide

Koczkas, Andreas, Arasteh, Sina January 2013 (has links)
This thesis aims to focus on relational controversy about the causes behind the inconsistency in number of students who use a Web 2.0 application named "LibGuide" inside the Linnaeus University and the attempts of program coordinator to develop certain strategies to perform a better use of it in a particular department of Healthcare. The nature of the problem will be discussed, suggesting that how the these strategies maintained a high significant of use in that department. The research foregoes, as it uses a process of translation which are the moments of struggles by a program coordinator to impose itself by its role to the definition of the situation. The research suggests a network within which the series of processes and interrelation of the sociotechnical role of each member is drawn and allocated.

Best Practices in Web 2.0 Climate : Competitive Advantage Through Social Networking Tools

Larsson, Fredrik, Christensson, Oskar, Ibarra, Carlos January 2011 (has links)
The usage of social media such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook has expanded drastically. Today almost every organization has a Facebook page and a Twitter account that complements their webpage and their physical stores. However, why and how are they using these social medias?  This research focuses on why and how organizations are using Facebook and Twitter in their business strategy. More specifically, what methods and organizational strategies are used. The requirement for our research was that the organization had to had some success on these social medias but due to time and budget limitations, the research is restricted to three local organizations that have a national presence. Conducting primary data with three face-to-face semi-structured interviews and obtaining secondary data such as books, theses and academic journals we had the data to make an analysis about how Facebook and Twitter could make these three organizations gain competitive advantage.  By correctly utilizing the tools that social networking sites (SNS) provide; organizations can make way for a differentiation path that provides competitive advantage, build brand awareness, and provide statistical tools for evaluating customer behavior. One of the benefits of SNS is that they are virtually free to implement, both from a capital and human resource investment point of view. This research shows that organizations utilizing SNS in order to gain competitive advantage need to focus on creating a committed and engaged user base. By keeping in mind the drivers of differentiation: timing, location, linkages and scale, organizations transform their competitive advantage into a sustained competitive advantage.

The Role of Online Reputation Management in Strategic Business Decisions in Ericsson

Tafesse, Yodit Zenebe January 2012 (has links)
With this immensely and immeasurably growing Internet technology, the need for onlinereputation management (ORM) is also growing accordingly. It is increasingly seen as animportant means by firms to create stronger alliance between customers and the firm (Bealand Strauss, 2008). ORM is relatively new which theoretically and empirically very youngphenomenon in which very few researches have been made around the area ever since.Hence, the intention of this research is to fill the knowledge gaps recognized and useEricsson Company to conduct an exploratory qualitative research to give empirical value tothe study. The purpose of this study is to explore how ORM can play role in making strategic businessdecisions through branding and construct a model that shows relationship among ORM,branding and strategic business decision. The relevant research concepts that are discussedin the literature review are linked through logical links depicted in the model. After the model is constructed Ericsson Company was taken as a case and qualitative study was made using an in-depth interview with the company’s expert in this area in Ericssonglobal to see how the concept of ORM, branding and strategic decisions in the model areinterlinked to each other. This research has answers on how this company perform its ORM,how ORM can influence branding, how branding can influence strategic business decisionand in the end how ORM can influence strategic business decision. From the finding of this research, ORM has influence on branding and brand has influenceon strategic business decision. Finally, it can also be concluded that ORM has impact on strategic business decisions through branding.
