La lengua española en situaciones auténticas y la interculturalidad del mundo hispano en la clase de español / The Spanish language in authentic situations and the interculturality of the Hispanic world in the Spanish classroom

Nikula, Hanna January 2023 (has links)
The school inspection presented, in its report in 2022, that classes of foreign languages in Sweden are lacking an authentic communication and interculturality. In this thesis we are investigating whether these factors related to the students’ motivations are connected. We have received responses from 50 highschool students in five different high schools. The results present a divided picture, where more than half of the informants do not feel motivated to study Spanish. A part of the informants expresses in their answers that their motivation has a connection that is specifically related to the interculturality of the Hispanic world and/or communication in authentic situations. However, it is also observable that the most important aspect of their motivation lays in the ways of teaching.

Playable Cases as Authentic Practice in Online Classrooms

Haws, Kevin Scott 01 April 2019 (has links)
Playable cases are a new type of mixed-reality serious game (SG), combining elements of alternative reality games (ARGs) and education simulations to offer an immersive, transmedia story. Participants advance the plot through interactive gameplay and characters with the goal of creating products and experiencing real-world business situations. This study investigates the effectiveness of the playable case Microcore as a tool specifically for online writing instruction (OWI). Fifty students in online sections of a technical communication course participated in Microcore, in which they responded to pre- and post-survey questions and prompts directed at their perceptions about writing, understanding of workplace communication, and levels of engagement. Responses to the survey were collected, coded for thematic trends, and analyzed. Results from this survey study suggest that playable cases like Microcore may be effective at countering primary OWI difficulties, including disengagement, lack of social presence and humanity, faltering self-efficacy, and unclear, unproductive perceptions about writing assignments. Students responded positively to the playable case and appeared to develop more nuanced views about workplace communication and writing through this immersive narrative and interface.

Toepassing van essensiestruktuur-analise as evalueringsmaatstaf vir outentieke opvoeding / The application of essence-structure-analysis as a criterion for the evaluation of authentic education

The development of a formal diagnostic assessment tool for spelling in the foundation phase

Richards, Sonja 12 1900 (has links)
This research is concerned with an investigation into the development of a formal diagnostic assessment tool for spelling in the foundation phase. A literature study and information acquired from educators provided information to compile a suitable spelling list that could be used as a diagnostic tool in the foundation phase. A self-designed questionnaire was administered to fifty educators Who provided their expert opinion regard the spelling list. This was followed up by second questionnaire that was based on the analysis and interpretation of the first. The Delphi-technique was applied to this investigation. The study was complete when consensus was reached among the educators with regard to which words should be included in the final spelling list. / Psychology of Education / M. Ed. Transformational leadership at a higher education institution

Van Niekerk, Magdalena Maria 30 November 2005 (has links)
This study investigates transformational leadership at a higher education institution. The systems paradigm serves as the point of departure, while the construct `leadership', which forms the driving force of change in the organisation, and the concept `transformational leadership', are integrated to yield a mechanism for the optimal positioning of the organisation in the ambit of transformation. The results indicate that the leadership style at the higher institution in question is transformational in nature. From the literature review it became evident that although it is possible for transformational leaders to fail in the transformational strategy, the transformational leader may exhibit the most `ideal' leadership style for the higher education institution engaged in a turnaround strategy. Based on the results of the study, additional proposals are made regarding further study in the area of transformational leadership as well as possible decisions regarding human resource management for the higher education institution in question. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

Listening comprehension in academic lectures : a focus on the role of discourse markers

Smit, Talita Christine 30 June 2006 (has links)
Increasing involvement with students at the University of Namibia has indicated their overall difficulty with comprehending and recalling information from oral content lectures. It has also been observed that in general very little attention is given to the development of listening skills in L2 ESP and EAP courses. For this study, I conducted a quasi-experiment to determine whether the recognition and interpretation of discourse markers will enhance students' listening comprehension in academic lectures. Students were tested to determine their comprehension of content information in a video-taped lecture. Qualitative data were collected by means of a questionnaire. After an intervention period of eight weeks, where the experimental group received strategy training in the recognition and interpretation of discourse markers in spoken texts, both groups were again tested. Their results were statistically compared. I also looked at related findings of other researchers. Finally, aspects for possible future research will also be considered. / English Studies / MA - (Specialisation in TESOL)

Le document technologique original dans le droit de la preuve au Québec

de Saint-Exupéry, Gilles 08 1900 (has links)
The adoption, in 2001, of the Act to Establish a Legal Framework for Information Technology (the Act) allowed the establishment of a legal framework facilitating the integration of Information Technology in law. More specifically in law of evidence, this allowed for the recognition of the technology-based document as evidence. In this context, it was necessary to adapt certain sections of the Civil Code of Québec and, thus, certain rules, among which the best evidence rule, set forth in Section 2860 C.C.Q. Until the Act, this rule relied on the original, a concept specific to the paper medium; consequently, it became necessary to find an equivalent for the technology-based document. This was done by Section 12 of the Act, which sets out the technology-based original’s characteristics. We will look into this concept’s origins and rationale, before analysing Section 12 of the Act, which addresses the original in a technological form. We will then examine the reproductions’ place in the technological context, and ascertain their growing importance beside that of the original document’s, as the means of reproduction continuoulsy improved.
