Stávání se lékařem/lékařkou z pohledu antropoložky / Becoming a doctor from the viewpoint of anthropologist

Rebendová, Eva January 2012 (has links)
This paper is about a process of a nascency of new doctors, and how it is possible to approach this topic from the viewpoint of social anthropologist. As a starting point, I use actor-network theory, which is one of the social science paradigms focusing on materiality. I consider it (on the basis of work by Bruno Latour and other scholars, who are dealing with this field), to be a remarkable actor in matters connected with human action, and thus an appropriate subject for an anthropological inquiry. Since the topic concerns medicine in the Czech Republic nowadays, I contribute to the knowledge of medical anthropology, which does not have such a strong academic base here as in the Anglo-Saxon world. Special attention is dedicated to a detailed description of activities leading to the formation of the text of this thesis. Reflexivity, on which I put emphasis, shall serve as the foundation of the context of genesis of an anthropological knowledge and also to describe the ethical concerns of the research. The main methods are observation and semi-structured in-depth interviews with twelve informants, who were medicine students or medicine faculty graduates.

What significance does the outdoor environment have in relation to other preschool environments, for educators' actions?

Persson, Max January 2022 (has links)
This study is investigating how preschool educators’ interactions in and with differentenvironments, with a specific focus on the preschool yard, become meaningful for theeducator’s actions in the preschool activities. The questions aimed to be answered in thestudy are: • How do educators’ actions in preschools develop in relation to: - the perceived, the conceived and the lived environment? - the preschool yards environments? The study used qualative method with semi-structured group interviews in three differentpre-schools. The preschool educators who participated in the study answered anddiscussed questions about environments in the preschool, with specific focus on thepreschool yard. With inspiration from “Production of space” (Lefvebre, 1991) the empirical data of thefocus groups were analyzed, and Nordin-Hultman`s (2004) concept of “becoming” is partof the discussions meaning making. This study is investigating and discussing how preschool teachers are acting and becomingin relation to the environment where the preschool activities take place. The results showhow interaction between material, mental and social dimensions become important for theteachers sense of opportunities and challenges to develop their pedagogical activities. Safety, socialization and design of in- and outdoor environments are some of the areasemphasized in these relations.

Stávání se tíhou: Filozofie diference a metalová hudba / Becoming Heaviness: Philosophy of Difference and Metal Music

Volák, Vojtěch January 2021 (has links)
Metal music is a term that currently serves as a designation for a plethora of different subgenres. The main goal of this work is to find a process that is shared between given subgenres of metal music. The search is based on the non-essentialist position of Gilles Deleuze's philosophy of difference. For this reason, the first focus of the work is extensive excursion into this philosophy, to which it devotes it's first chapter. In it, through analysis of Difference and Repetition, it creates a thought and conceptual basis for the processual perception of ideas as multiplicities, a position that makes it possible to examine the process of becoming. From this position, the second chapter focuses on metal music and it's main characteristic quality - heaviness, and examines the ways in which music can become heavy. Keywords: Gilles Deleuze, metal music, heaviness, difference, becoming, multiplicity, intensity

[en] AS IF IT WAS A NOVEL / [pt] COMO SE FOSSE UM ROMANCE

GUSTAVO AUGUSTO DE ABREU CLEVELARES 04 February 2016 (has links)
[en] This thesis is the result of an artistic-literary experience. In this production, the aim was to investigate the desire and the creation process manifested in a person who develops the intellectual work through the artistic fabrication. In this open space that promotes freedom of creativity, this study is based on the concept of event to understand the production of subjectivity that appears as a first experiment in literary writing, result of a becoming-writer process. Fictionally, in a novel format, the text was built up by a creative writing with a theoretical complexity. In the metafiction, inspired by the arabian legend of Scheherazade, the narrator-protagonist wants to discover and to write down the past of his deceased grandmother, syrian-lebanese immigrant, so that she preserves alive at least in the materiality of literature. In the movement between the imprecise memory and the powerful imagination, while the main character can not find the truth, he decides to write the story of their ancestors as if it was a novel. However, he needs to confront the conflictual relationship of his family with the languages while knows the strategies of artistic writing. Therefore, in this study, the metalanguage was a literary resource used to write about a narrative processes. In addition, this text is a research-intervention that wishes to emphasise the full scope of the theoretical and critical thought through the potency of fiction writing in the contemporaneity.

Sebetvorba v Nietzscheho Ecce homo / Self-creation in Nietzsche's Ecce Homo

Mára, Vítězslav January 2022 (has links)
(EN) In the last of his finished works, Nietzsche presents a special sort of retrospect of his past and, at the same time, prospect of his future. The aim of the thesis is to examine the possibility that Nietzsche attempts to present some of the results of his preceeding inquires in practice and provides readers with a guideline for creation of practical philosophy in accord with their own constitution, being aware of external and internal dangers of the project. By means of an exemplary self-interpretation, Nietzsche demonstrates the process of human self-becoming.

What would have been a compromise without children might become a choice with children" : A qualitative study about men becoming parents, their career and identity

Thorley, My, Karlsson, Mikaela January 2021 (has links)

Becoming with Rocks : Arriving in the Riddling Middle of (tourist) Places: touch, proximity, indeterminacy

Tuggey, Matt January 2021 (has links)
The tourism industry is both large and growing, with private and public actors investing heavily in the commodification of places to travel to, supporting individuals with the wealth to do so, to be in different places for short time periods. Correspondingly, popular discourses and research within tourism studies have arisen, looking at attitudes and social and environmental impacts drawn along delineations of the tourist and the host and spatially enclosed tourist places or ‘destinations’.  In this thesis, I seek instead to focus on how we might be different in places. Using Deleuze and Guattari’s idea of assemblage and a focus on embodiment, I offer a reflexive account of an onto-epistemological inquiry into becoming with a range of other beings and things that are co-constitutive of the harbour wall or ‘the rocks’ at the Visby marina. Over a 6 month period of participant observation, I seek to be responsive to the emergent properties and knowledge of the fluctuating actors amidst the place assemblage of the rocks. The essay I offer within this thesis is part of what is resulting from these relationships and becomings. Within the essay, one of many themes I take up is a problematic view of place as being filled with objects of matter as opposed to an entangled, relational web of beings and things. Tourism easily commodifies places when they are seen as containers for bodies and objects, and this creates a distinct view of ‘tourist places’. I follow with a call to disrupt the imagined difference between tourist places and places in which we lead our daily lives in the hope of living outside of the shadow of human exceptionalism.  Accordingly, this thesis calls us to re-think tourism as but one part of our lives, as entanglements of bodies and things in and as place.

Vad hade du förväntat dig : En kvalitativ studie om kvinnors upplevelse att bli mamma / What did you expect : A qualitative study about women's experience of becoming a mother

Pettersson, Anna, Robertsson, Terese January 2018 (has links)
Becoming a mother is most often described as something natural and the qualities to be a mother is presupposed to exist in every woman. This paper presents the results of a qualitative study with the research question as to whether the image of ‘the good mother’ can be found in women's stories of becoming mothers. The data was collected through one group interview and two individual interviews and analyzed with Charmaz constructivist grounded theory as a method. In the analysis we found four theoretical codes that together answer our research questions. The result shows that there is still an ideal type of ‘the good mother’ after which women build their own identity as a mother.

An Analysis of Selected Contents Related to the Usage of Art and Aesthetic in Two Texts in Art Education

Pierce, Dorothy Manes 12 1900 (has links)
Because the terms art and aesthetic are often ambiguously used, the purpose of this study was to develop a method of analyzing and clarifying their usage in written texts. Chapter I includes hypotheses and assumptions of this study. The first hypothesis was that it is possible to develop a systematic, objective, and replicable method of analyzing and clarifying the usage of art and aesthetic in art education texts. The second hypothesis is that, as a result of this analysis, it is possible to compare the usage of art and aesthetic in one text with the usage of these same terms in another. The two texts chosen as sources of data were Becoming Human Through Art by Edmund Burke Feldman and Emphasis; Art by Frank Wachowiak and Theodore Ramsey. The assumptions upon which this analysis was based are (a) that frequency of mention indicates author emphasis, and (b) that, based on analysis which indicates emphasis, summary definition of an author's teaching beliefs regarding art and aesthetic would be possible. Although both hypotheses are accepted, limitations of the method result from the subjectivity which existed in the selection of variables, the inference of contextual meaning which determined placement of variables in categories, and inference of emphasis based on resulting frequencies. Recommendations for further research are (a) examination of categories for appropriateness and inclusion of all relevant variables; (b) use of the method of contingency analysis to determine the usage of other ambiguous words and phrases; (c) use of variables associated with art and aesthetic as a thesaurus for future reference; and (d) application of the method to other literature in art education, transcribed interviews, and/or classroom instruction.
