Marknadsföring och kundupplevd kvalitet : En fallstudie på Kalmar och Trollhättans Stadsbibliotek / Marketing and customer-centered quality : A case study at the public libraries in Kalmar and Trollhättan

Kelemit, Sara, Larsson, Pia January 1996 (has links)
In this thesis the marketing strategies of two public libraries have been explored and studied. The public library of Kalmar participates in the project GÖK which partly is a marketing project. The public library of Kalmar thereby differs from the public library of Trollhättan which is not involved in the project. The main aim of this thesis was to focus on their marketing strategies and see if there were any differences. The thesis was also concerned with the customers and their experiences of the quality of the services offered by the public libraries of Kalmar and Trollhättan, including the customers' perceptions of the operative marketing, and finally if there was a connection between marketing and customer-centered quality. Qualitative methods as well as quantitative methods were used for the collection of information .The preliminary assumption that Kalmar had a more explicit marketing strategy has been confirmed in the study. However, the customers at the public library of Trollhättan were more satisfied with the total quality of the services offered. This study has shown that a marketing strategy does not automatically result in more satisfied customers.

Konsumentinformation i förändring : Samarbete mellan Stockholms kommunala konsumentvägledning och Stockholms stadsbibliotek / Consumer guidance in Stockholm

Nordman, Ingrid January 1996 (has links)
Voluntary organisations provided the first consumer guidance in Sweden. The government'sinterest in the question started during the second world war and has ever since increased.Since the 1970's the local authorities, with support from the community, have played animportant roll in consumer policy work. Due to the economic recession of recent years theappropriation to consumer guidance work has been cut down. The work has been rationalisedand libraries have more frequently been used to spread consumer information. In Stockholm the municipal has been responsible for local consumer information since the1940's. Co-operation with the library of Stockholm has occurred in different forms. Todaythe purpose with the co-operation is to rationalise the consumer guidance work and to makethe information more available to the inhabitants of Stockholm.

Iranska invandrare och svenska bibliotek : en sociokulturell studie / Iranian immigrants and Swedish libraries : a sociocultural investigation

Golrang, Akbar January 1997 (has links)
This thesis is an investigation of Iranian immigrants and their use of libraries in Sweden. It isbased on a combination of a qualitative and a·quantitative method.Using a qualitative method, I give an outline of the history of lran from ancient times up to the present, as well as the different ethnological groups in Iran and their cultures. The main objective of this part is to clarify the contrasts between Iranian and Swedish cultural, social, linguistic and family structures, and also the characteristics of the crisis that most immigrants go through on their arrival in the new country. The qualitative method also involves structured telephone interviews with eight highly educated Iranians. This method was supplemented by a quantitative study through questionnaires of the attitudes· of lranian immigrants to libraries and reading. Iranians in Sweden turned out to be frequent Iibrary users. When reading newspapers and journals, they prefer those that are easy to read, e.g. comics, fashion magazines and technological magazines. When reading books, they seem to be more fond of the fine arts and less interested in religious and geographical books than Swedish library users.

A survey of instructing librarians' attitudes towards discovery tools and how they mediate these through reference interviews and user training

Hannerz, Einar, Wiborgh, Mika January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine how Swedish highereducation librarians mediate discovery tools to its users. Thisstudy aims to investigate higher education librarians’ generalattitudes towards discovery tools, their perception ofstudents’ discovery tool usage, and how they mediatediscovery tools to students through reference interviews anduser training. The empirical ground of this study is a semistructuredsurvey that was answered by 115 instructinglibrarians. The study concludes that although librariansgenerally have a critical attitude towards discovery tools theyalso think that the discovery tools serve a useful purpose, especially as a starting point in the information searchprocess. The study also concludes that librarians generallyperceive students’ attitudes towards discovery tools aspositive, although students do not always use the tools totheir full potential. The librarians also raised the importanceof user training that is less focused on teaching searchtechniques and more focused on information literacy. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Biovetare, bibliotek och bioinformatiska resurser / Bioscientists, libraries and bioinformatic resources

Wickenberg, Maria January 2014 (has links)
Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary scientific subject which connects biology, biomedicine and information science. Bioinformatics generates new biological knowledge by using computer methods and biological databases and can thereby play an important role for the understanding of diseases and be used for development of new medicines. The appearance of bioinformatics has thereby had a big impact on biomedical research. In this study, I have examined bioscientists' use of bibliographical databases, bioinformatic databases/web sites and bioinformatic tools and their needs of support concerning these resources. I have also examined which support the scientific libraries offer their users concerning bibliographical databases, bioinformatic databases/web sites and bioinformatic tools and have compared it with the needs the libraries think that the users have and the needs the users state that they have. The results from the study show that there is a wish for library support concerning bibliographical databases, bioinformatic databases/web sites and bioinformatic tools. The wishes of the respondents are in contrast to the libraries' view about bioscientists interest concerning bioinformatic databases/web sites and bioinformatic tools. A few libraries offer support concerning bioinformatic databases/web sites and bioinformatic tools. The knowledge among the library staff in bioinformatic databases/web sites and tools is limited. The scientific libraries' support concerning bioinformatic databases/web sites and bioinformatic tools should be developed and offered in collaboration with researchers and teachers within bioscience to better match the needs of the users. / Program: Bibliotekarie

Kvinnor är inte ett ämne : Ämnesindexering på Kvinnohistoriska samlingarna / Women are not a subject : Subject indexing at Kvinnohistoriska samlingarna

Brännström, Helena, Modin, Elsa January 1996 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to examine the subject indexing in the bibliographic databaseKVINNSAM at Kvinnohistoriska samlingarna. the documentation and information centre·of Women's studies in Sweden. The focus of the study is the list of index terms produced at this centre. The paper tries to answer the following questions: a) How has the indexing developed? b) How can it be improved? c) Is there a need for feminist indexing? The method of the study is primarily observations and interviews. Texts and ideas by Birger Hj¢rland, D. C. Blair, Joan K. Marshall and others are used as a background. Women's studies in Sweden is described as a domain of its own. Women's studies often has difficulties in finding its literature because many systems for organising and retrieving knowledge are sexist. The list of index terms is non-hierarchical and consists of about 2000 terms. These have been studied regarding form, scope notes, language, context, etc. The paper also suggests some improvements.

"Kung Alkohols utdrivande..." : Folkbildning och nykterhetsarbete hos Logen Leon Gambetta, Varberg 1883-1926 / "Dislodge the King of Alcohol..." : Adult Education and Study Activities in the Temperance Society Leon Gambetta 1883-1926 in Varberg

Birgersson, Carina, Kaukoranta, Antti January 1996 (has links)
The essay deals with adult education from a local perspective more specifically that ofthe IOGT lodge Leon Garnbetta in Varberg. The material that has been used covers a limited period of time, which stretches from 1883 to 1926.This temperance lodge was founded in 1883 and is still active. The essay provides a historical survey of the temperance movement in Sweden and depicts the ideas behind adult education, but it also gives a more general historical account of the town of Varberg and its popular movements.By studying handwritten records from the lodge it is possible to establish a picture of its work, activities, discussions, its striving for democracy, educational activities and the principles behind these and finally the lodge's own library which was started at an early stage. All these aspects are then treated in a historical and a political context.

Förskola och bibliotek : förskolorna som användare av och samarbetspartner till biblioteken i Kalmar och Växjö / Pre-schools using and cooperating with the public libraries in Kalmar and Växjö, (Sweden)

Jacobsson, Ylva, Tunerstedt, Karin January 1996 (has links)
The purpose was to examine how the pre-schools used the public libraries in two Swedishtowns. We also examined if and how the pre-schools and the public libraries were cooperating.Literature showed that it is possible to stimulate children's language development and this is a duty for pre-schools and public libraries. We sent an inquiry to all pre-schools divisions in both towns. We interviewed two librarians. Our results showed that the pre-schools did use the libraries to a great extent but they didn't cooperate with the libraries in the sense that they had elaborated agreements. It was a great joy for the teachers and the children to read and it was useful. The respondents of the inquiry and the librarians wanted to exchange knowledge and experiences. The last years' cuts in municipal budgets and changes of organisations negatively affected the possibilities of cooperating. The teachers inquired especially some information about books. Our conclusions were: cooperation between the pre-schools and the libraries is one possible way to secure children 's access to books and libraries and to improve the work with literature among children.

Läsning i Läsandets kultur : En studie om synen på läsning och bibliotekariernas läsfrämjande arbete i Litteraturutredningen 2012 / Reading in the Culture of Reading : A study on the view of reading and the librarians’ reading promotion in the Literature Survey 2012

Kullander, Sanna January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the view on reading and reading promotion in the Culture of Reading (SOU 2012:65), based on three different approaches to reading and reading promotion; the pragmatic, the emancipatory and the traditionalistic. The thesis is based on the following questions; which view on reading can be seen in the Culture of Reading and which view on librarians’ reading promotion can be seen in the Culture of Reading. To answer these questions, I am going to apply the aforementioned approaches on the Culture of Reading. The Culture of Reading is an official report from the Swedish government and parts of it will be subject to a qualitative content analysis. The results from the analysis shows that all of the approaches, to some extent, can be seen in the report. Reading is presented as something of great importance to the nation and the individual. The approach most prevalently seen regarding librarians’ reading promotion is the emancipatory. Librarians are also given a pedagogic role. The need for cooperation regarding reading promotion is also underlined in the report. The thesis also shows that libraries and the librarians can be very influential when it comes to creating readers and laying the foundation for a future interest in reading and literature. / Program: Bibliotekarie
