Evaluation of a decentralised primary health care training programme

Mabaso, Suzan Saleleni 01 1900 (has links)
A quantitative, descriptive, explorative design was used to evaluate a decentralised primary health care training programme at a training unit in the Limpopo Province. The study sought to determine to what extent the newly qualified diplomates were able to manage patients appropriately when faced with the realities, such as the shortage of personnel, large numbers of patients, shortage of resources and time constraints in the real situation without the support and guidance from medical practitioners and senior nursing personnel. Data were collected by observing the diplomates as they managed patients with hypertension by making use of checklists. The diplomates were also interviewed by making use of an in interview schedule. The major inferences drawn from this study was that these diplomates were competent in the management of these patients and were satisfied with their abilities and training. / Health Studies / M. A. Die interpersoonlikestylrepertoire van middelvlakbestuurders

Koortzen, Pieter, 1966- 06 1900 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / The goal with the research is firstly is to study and theoretically describe the interpersonal style repertoire of middle level managers according to the interpersonal approach and more specifically the 1982 Interpersonal Circle. Secondly the interpersonal development interventions and the development process for middle level managers were discussed from this approach. The third theoretical goal involved compiling a interpersonal development programme for middle level managers. The empirical goals of the research involved the evaluation of the interpersonal style repertoires of middle level managers by means of self and fellow manager evaluations in an attempt to get an indication of the most prominent interpersonal styles of middle level managers. Furthermore the empirical investigation involved an analysis of the influence of the interpersonal development programme in expanding the interpersonal style repertoires of middle level managers. The results of the self evaluations suggest that the warm-friendly, deferent-trusting, assureddominant and sociable-exhibitionistic styles are the primary styles of the 263 middle managers in the sample. Their evaluations by the 82 fellow managers seem to indicate that the warmfriendly, assured-dominant, deferent-trusting, and sociable-exhibitionistic styles are the most prominent interpersonal styles of middle level managers. Although these results seem to correspond to the teoretically applicable style repertoires of middle level managers the scores were all below average. XIV With the interpersonal development programme an attempt was made to make the group of 32 managers aware of their own interpersonal style repertoires and to provide them with the opportunity to study the way in which these are used in interpersonal transactions during a experiential learning experience. The development interventions, process and the influence of the development programme are also discussed. Coping with stress amongst males and females in professional occupations

Mallach, Carol Sue 11 1900 (has links)
This study examines the impact of gender on the coping mechanisms employed to manage work-related stress. The aim of the investigation was to determine whether male and female professionals differ in terms of the coping mechanisms that they employ in managing work-related stress. In order to achieve this aim an assessment battery containing a Biographical Checklist, the Coping Checklist, the Hassles Scale and the Daily Uplifts Scale was distributed to a sample of professional men and women. The fmdings indicate that male and female professionals differ significantly in only two of the six coping mechanisms measured, namely social support and symptom management; that men and women do not differ significantly in terms of coping repertoire; and that women cope more effectively than their male counterparts with work-related· stress. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / M.A. (Industrial Psychology)

Graybox-baserade säkerhetstest : Att kostnadseffektivt simulera illasinnade angrepp

Linnér, Samuel January 2008 (has links)

/
A network architecture penetration test is complicated, full of risks and extensive. This report explores how a consultant carries it out in the most time effective way, without overlook important parts. In an internal penetration test the consultant are often allowed to view the system documentation of the network architecture, which saves a lot of time since no total host discovery is needed. This is also good for discovering anomalies in the system documentation. Communication with system administrators during the test minimizes the risk of misunderstanding and system crashes. If serious vulnerabilities are discovered, the system administrators have to be informed immediately. Another way to make the test more effective is to skip time consuming tasks which will succeed sooner or later, e.g. password cracking, instead; point out that the reason of the vulnerability is the ability to brute force the password. It is also appropriate to simulate attacks which otherwise could infect the production of the organization.

The result of the report is a checklist by means of a general methodology of how in-ternal penetration tests could be implemented. The purpose of the checklist is to make it easier to do internal penetration tests. The process is divided in seven steps: Planning, information gathering, vulnerability detection and analysis, privilege escalation, pene-tration test and final reporting.

Psychometric Validity of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire-Dysregulation Profile

Holtmann, Martin, Becker, Andreas, Banaschewski, Tobias, Rothenberger, Aribert, Rößner, Veit 19 February 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Background: In many severely mentally disordered children, the clinical presentation is complicated by comorbid affective and behavioral dysregulation. Recently, a highly heritable behavioral phenotype of simultaneous deviance on the anxious/depressed, attention problems, and aggressive behavior syndrome scales has been identified on the Child Behavior Checklist Dysregulation Profile (CBCL-DP). The aim of the present pilot study was to determine an equivalent to the CBCL-DP using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Sampling and Methods: We applied stepwise linear discriminant analyses and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis to data from 543 consecutively referred children and adolescents, aged 5–17 years. The CBCL and the SDQ were completed by parents as part of the diagnostic routine. ICD-10 discharge diagnoses were established in consensus conferences. Results: A combination of five SDQ items (SDQ-Dysregulation Profile, SDQ-DP) yielded the best discrimination of children with and without CBCL-DP and classified 81.0% of the subjects correctly leading to an area under the curve of 0.93. The content of the five SDQ-DP items mirrors well the mixed behavioral phenotype of anxious-depressive, aggressive and attention problems captured by the CBCL-DP. SDQ-DP status was highly correlated with CBCL-DP status and was best defined by a SDQ-DP score ≧5. Conclusions: The psychometric properties of the SDQ-DP have been robustly tested and validated. Based on these results, clinicians may use the SDQ-DP as a useful and economical screening measure to improve the assessment, prevention, and treatment of severe dysregulation in childhood and adolescence. Future investigations should study the longitudinal stability, heritability, and genetic associations of this behavioral phenotype. Segurança do paciente : o checklist da cirurgia segura em um centro cirúrgico ambulatorial / Patient safety : the checklist of safe surgery in an outpatient surgical center / La seguridad del paciente : la lista de verificación de seguridad quirúrgica en un centro de cirugía ambulatoria

Oliveira Junior, Nery José de January 2015 (has links)
The security concept was born with primitive man to fight daily to survive against attacks by predators. Over the years arose survival and safety parameters in almost all work activities. In the health and nursing area this theme has mobilized efforts of health organizations to avoid gaps in care processes that may cause adverse events to patients. This is an exploratory, descriptive research with a qualitative approach, in order to analyze the application of the safe surgery checklist in the operating room for patient safety. The study was conducted using the technique of focus groups and photographic research methods from the perspective of restorative ecological thinking, in the period between March and June 2014. The information was organized with the use of NVivo program 10 and subjected to analysis of thematic content, there were three categories: Checklist for patient safety: still a challenge, Reasons for non-adherence to the Safe Surgery Checklist, Steps Checklist. The results emphasize that the checklist is very important and contributes as a barrier to prevent possible errors laterality of the surgical procedure and patient exchange in the operating room, and ensure the correct identification of the patient while preparing to enter the operating room. In the discussions it was stressed that the group researched know the instrument for the achievement of the safe surgery checklist, however, concerns have trouble completing it, mainly because of the need to streamline the process and quickly refer the patient to the operating room. It was noticed that there are errors in the completion of the safe surgery protocol, in some situations the instrument is filled before starting surgery or after the same. It is essential to involve and engage the medical teams to the application of the safe surgery checklist, and (re) direct and empower the nursing staff in order to properly follow the established checklist protocol, minimizing devaluation situations and ridicule of routine. The application correctly this protocol contributes to the recognition of care teams in the institution. The participatory nature of the photographic restorative search method provided an opportunity to engage the professional field of study and made it possible to implement many improvements from suggestions and proposals from them. Another aspect that deserves to be highlighted concerns the dual role of researcher and manager of the investigated institution, which translated the knowledge produced from the study into shares in the care practice setting, turning it into a safer environment for the patient.
