Componentes de Software no desenvolvimento de aplicações colaborativas para Web: Evolução da plataforma Groupware Workbench / Software Components for the development of collaborative Web applications: Evolution of the Groupware Workbench platform

Straus Michalsky Martins 19 October 2012 (has links)
Software components technology is favorable to encapsulate implementation technical issues and encourage the reuse among applications. These characteristics are particularly relevant in the development of web-based collaborative applications. This work evaluates and evolves the Groupware Workbench platform in this context. The social application Arquigrafia was the main motivation for this evolution. Arquigrafia is a collaborative environment for the study of architecture and image sharing strongly based on collaboration and collective intelligence. Since the concept of collective intelligence is very broad, we performed a domain analysis and a classification of its use in current systems. We also implemented the Arquigrafia features using Groupware Workbench components and evaluated the platform in four areas: components architecture; collaboration support; technical architecture; and developers perspective. We identified technological and conceptual limitations, as for example, the adopted object-relational mapping model and issues related to the flexibility of the platform. These limitations were treated and evaluated. We noted improvements in the architecture of the components and code simplification. As a result, the Groupware Workbench was a feasible solution for developing the Arquigrafia application.

A global pandemic’s influence on consumer behaviour : A quantitative study on how the social constraints due to COVID-19 has affected the engagement in post-purchase behaviour

Damsjö, Evelina, Mattsson, Fanni, Olsson, Amanda January 2021 (has links)
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, countless studies have been conducted about the pandemic regarding people's physical and mental health, but there is a significant gap on the persistent effects on consumer behaviour. Hence, this thesis aimed to investigate if there is a relationship between the social constraints as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the potential increased engagement of post-purchase behaviour. The research focused exclusively on Swedish female millennials who are active social media users.    The research used a deductive approach by formulating hypotheses based on already existing theories. The explanatory design was used when aiming to investigate a causal relationship between two variables, i.e., prior to the pandemic compared to today. Further, a quantitative strategy was used by collecting primary data through a questionnaire, which thereafter was analysed through SPSS, using the paired sample t-test. To target the desired sample a convenience sampling method was used which collected a total of 226 respondents, with 197 valid participants. The sample was collected through several Facebook groups, combined with the utilizing of the authors own social media channels. Since this study aimed to measure engagement, the key concepts were converted in the survey questions to more specific terms, by a modified existing scale. Indicators were established to be able to measure the engagement under controlled conditions.   Furthermore, the results from the statistical tests resulted in a p-value to confirm or reject the null hypothesis, followed by a correlation coefficient value to determine the strength of the relationship. The empirical findings combined indicated significant evidence that because of the social constraints since the COVID-19 outbreak, there has been an increased engagement in the post-purchase behaviour on social media for Swedish female millennials. This was confirmed through a p-value of 0.000 in the t-tests for all seven hypotheses. Furthermore, all tests show correlation values between 0.449 and 0.617, which means that all the existing relationships are positive.    This means that during the period when COVID-19 has been an active societal problem with all its effects, the new living conditions have entailed an increased involvement in post-purchase behaviour on social media for Swedish female millennials. If corporations take these changed behaviours in consideration and adapt the marketing strategy accordingly, it  can contribute to increased sales as the credibility of the brand gets strengthened through the transparency that the customer base values.

Originální a převzatý zdroj v síti internet / Original and Assumed Sources on World Wide Web

Svatý, Michal January 2011 (has links)
The thesis focuses on problem of authorship of the Internet content. It considers the question whether we can analyze the artwork purely as a closed structure of the symbols or whether it is necessary to take work as a broader structure. The first part of the thesis shows the Internet in general and its specifics it as a medium. The second part is devoted to the problem of authorship. It explains traditional view of Nelson Goodman, who examined the authenticity of artwork with regard to the internal arrangement of the elements structure of the object. The third part shows the later theories inconsistent with the views of Nelson Goodman, views of different contemporary authors who present the changes of authorship aspects in the environment which is under constant development, quickly sharing ideas and resources. New theories suggest to look beyond the authorship of the artwork domain, apply broader focous. The conclusion provides a synthesis of these views.

Kolektivní inteligence a role jedince: na příkladu sociálního aktivismu online / Collective Intelligence and the Functions of Individual: Using an Example of Social Activism Online

Batrlová, Marie January 2014 (has links)
Final thesis titled Collective Intelligence and the Functions of Individual: Using an Example of Social Activism Online uses definition of collective intelligence by Pierre Lévy, and tries to verify it throught practice of social activism on the internet using a smartphone as a tool for accessing cyberspace. The theses is based on media theory works focusing in particular on a new kind of intelligence of community and the impact of new communication technologies on humans. Next part is about the topics of social activism, when considering together or independently with collective intelligence, provides the potential for direct democracy. Lastly there are few examples of social activism online or forerunners of direct democracy. As an important issue of collective intelligence in practice emerge the rules of behavior of individuals and Lévy's vision of collective intelligence as a peak of humanity.

A Hybrid Approach to Music Recommendation: Exploiting Collaborative Music Tags and Acoustic Features

Kaufman, Jaime C. 01 January 2014 (has links)
Recommendation systems make it easier for an individual to navigate through large datasets by recommending information relevant to the user. Companies such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Netflix, Amazon, Pandora, and others utilize these types of systems in order to increase revenue by providing personalized recommendations. Recommendation systems generally use one of the two techniques: collaborative filtering (i.e., collective intelligence) and content-based filtering. Systems using collaborative filtering recommend items based on a community of users, their preferences, and their browsing or shopping behavior. Examples include Netflix, Amazon shopping, and Last.fm. This approach has been proven effective due to increased popularity, and its accuracy improves as its pool of users expands. However, the weakness with this approach is the Cold Start problem. It is difficult to recommend items that are either brand new or have no user activity. Systems that use content-based filtering recommend items based on extracted information from the actual content. A popular example of this approach is Pandora Internet Radio. This approach overcomes the Cold Start problem. However, the main issue with this approach is its heavy demand on computational power. Also, the semantic meaning of an item may not be taken into account when producing recommendations. In this thesis, a hybrid approach is proposed by utilizing the strengths of both collaborative and content-based filtering techniques. As proof-of-concept, a hybrid music recommendation system was developed and evaluated by users. The results show that this system effectively tackles the Cold Start problem and provides more variation on what is recommended.

Méndez Gallart, María José 18 April 2023 (has links)
[EN] The aim of this academic research is to explore how contemporary art can contribute to the biological adaptation of human beings in the transition to sustainability of complex socio-technical systems. Owing to the fact that the brain is always hypothesizing about the future and knowing to some extent how consciousness emerges, the question is raised of how science, technologies and different systems of innovation in all their complexity, and what emerges from the intersections between different disciplines when real contexts are analyzed, can contribute and can improve human beings' cognitive adaptation in the face of social and environmental disruption in ecosystems. Specifically, the intention has been to ascertain how we can contribute information of value in the following ways: By means of pedagogy, systems modelling and systems science. By studying the emerging structures in social self-organization which intervene in the ongoing transformation of the different regimes of the dominant landscape or the Statu quo of the global socio-economic metabolism. By means of the triangulation of methodologies, this study presupposes the creative capacity of human beings to abstract reality and to perceive it as totalities, thereby making us aware of our biological interdependence with ecosystems. This situates in a setting of discovery, the belief, that the key to sustainability is in the organization of the living, the organic code, and relational dynamics. We believe that the access to knowledge is a phenomenon which is both dynamic and spontaneous and which is created and destroyed in one neverending process, as is the phenomenon of consciousness. In the process of studying the context as the critical agent, a proposal for institutional change has been drawn up, a proposal which posits that in the future the Valencian system of innovation could be integrated in the sciences of complexity, a case in point could be UPV and more in particular the experience of a pre-doctoral student. In order to start from a position which can be justified from the point of view of the scientific method the object of this research has been limited, and the approach has been that of participatory action research and critical realism, while the framework or focus adopted was the Multi-Level Perspective (MLP), which studies complexities in aggregate form, connected across Sociology with Adaptative Complex Sytems (SACS) field of study. . / Méndez Gallart, MJ. ”I really hope you guys are enjoying this. Thank you so much for watching!” I really hope you guys are enjoying this. Thank you so much for watching!” : A qualitative and quantitative study of the interaction between YouTubers and their audience

Källback Winter, William, Backman, Tove January 2016 (has links)
The overall purpose of this essay, “‘I really hope you guys are enjoying this. Thank you so much for watching!’ - a qualitative and quantitative study of the interaction between YouTubers and their audience", is to study how YouTubers that play and comment video games interact with their audience, what kind of response these YouTubers receive and the interaction between viewers and fans in these YouTubers comment sections. This essay also studies if there is a difference between the response female and male YouTubers receive. The study is based on theories about fan culture, participation culture, collective intelligence, feminism and gender. A quantitative content analysis has been used to analyze 600 comments on six YouTube videos uploaded by six different YouTubers. The purpose of the quantitative analysis was to see what content of the comments most often occur as well as if the comment showed a positive, negative or neutral view of the YouTuber. The result of the quantitative analysis was used as a base for a qualitative critical discourse analysis, which also studied how the YouTubers behaved in the videos. The results of this study showed that the YouTubers mostly received positive comments about their personalities and their YouTube channel. They mostly received negative comments about the way they play the game. The female YouTubers received more negative comments than the male YouTubers, who in turn received more positive comments. The study also showed that YouTubers interact by talking directly to the audience and looking into the camera, by using the word “we” when talking about how they play the game as if they are playing with the audience, by asking the audience questions and by answering comments that the YouTubers have received. The YouTubers engage their audience by using strong expressions and by playing the game during a livestream. The YouTubers’ fans engage and interact by showing appreciation of the YouTubers and defend the YouTubers when they receive negative comments in the comment section of their videos. These ways which YouTubers interact with and engage their audience can be seen as part of a discourse about interaction and engagement online.

From Vision to Transition : Exploring the Potential for Public Information Services to Facilitate Sustainable Urban Transport

Cano-Viktorsson, Carlos January 2014 (has links)
Background: Policy initiatives to promote sustainable travel through the use of Internet based public information systems have increased during the last decade. Stockholm, in being one of the first cities in Europe to implement an Internet based service for facilitating sustainable travel is believed to be a good candidate for an analysis of key issues for developing sustainable travel planning services to the public. Aim: This thesis investigates the past development of two Stockholm based public information systems and their services in order to draw lessons on how to better provide for a public information service geared towards facilitating  environmentally sustainable travel planning through information and communications technology. The overall goal of the thesis is to contribute to an understanding on how to better design and manage current and future attempts at facilitating sustainable travel planning services based on historical case studies. Approach: The thesis draws ideas from the concept of organizational responsiveness – an organization’s ability to listen, understand and respond to demands put to it by its internal and external stakeholders – in order to depict how well or not the two public information systems and their owners have adapted to established norms and values of their surroundings. Results: Overall, the findings from the historical case studies suggest that organizations attempting to provide sustainable travel planning to the public need to design and manage their systems in such a way that it responds to shifting demands on how to provide for information. Implementing and embedding new technologies involves complex processes of change both at the micro level – for users and practitioners of the service – and at the meso level for the involved public service organizations themselves. This condition requires a contextualist framework to analyze and understand organizational, contextual and cultural issues involved in the adoption of new technologies and procedures. Conclusions: The thesis concludes with a discussion on how the findings from the historical case studies may provide lessons for both current and future attempts at providing public information systems geared towards facilitating environmentally sustainable travel planning to the public. Historical examples and issues concerning collective intelligence and peer to peer based forms of designing, producing and supervising public information services identified throughout the study are looked upon and discussed in terms of their possible role in increasing the potential for public information services to facilitate sustainable urban transport. / <p>QC 20140319</p> / TRACS, Travel Planner for Sustainable Cities
