Do bico de pena à tinta da escrita: O conquistador, de Almeida Faria / From the quill pen to the ink of writing: O conquistador, from Almeida FariaPires, Alzira 09 March 2009 (has links)
This project intends to demonstrate the reconstruction of the ordinary Portuguese man through the analysis of O Conquistador (1990) by Almeida Faria, a Lusitanian writer and through the drawings of Mario Botas, who is also Lusitanian. The subject will be approached through the study of some concepts of the grotesque. The theoretical justification is based on Bakhtins theory about the carnavalization and the grotesque realism. There will also be a comparison of the surreal elements between the written work of Almeida Faria and the illustrations of Mario Botas.

Les Naufragios d'Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca / A Conquistador Exploring the Other. The Naufragios of Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de VacaMariani, Catherine 04 July 2012 (has links)
Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca (1490-1557), gentleman of the highest Spanish nobility, is the author of a travel very significantly entitled Naufragios (1542) which is the heart of this thesis entitled "A conquistador exploring the other: the Naufragios of Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca". It aims to demonstrate that the exceptional nature of this text lies as much in its content and in the person of its author, in spite of himself and suddenly confronted with the shock of otherness, as a result of accidental flooding, and prolonged total among different ethnic groups of the current north American continent. Upon his return to Europe, he transcribed in a memory the different stages of this discovery and its awareness of the full humanity of the Indians, that "other" that evokes long after having carefully observed. For Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca, the Indians are in all respects his fellow men should be treated as such and which he became, against all odds, the advocate before the highest temporal and spiritual authority of Spain, the King. His text, the literary quality unclassifiable, yet not only tells a unique adventure. To him, however he has his posterity. Considered in turn as the first American writer, an ethnologist or before the time as the first true defender of the Indians, Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, after a journey of almost 10 years during which he traveled the American continent from East to West knows the social decline and has not seen his ideas triumph during his lifetime.

Obraz conquistadora Lopeho de Aguirre v hispánské literatuře / Image of the conquistador Lope de Aguirre in Hispanic LiteratureKutová, Jaroslava January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis studies the transformation of the image of conquistador Lope de Aguirre in selected pieces of Hispanic literature. The introductory compilation explains the historical context of the colonial background in which Aguirre's rebellion took place. Some historical facts about Aguirre himself are added as well. The analytical part of this thesis concentrates on Aguirre's image in literature written in Spanish, from the second half of the 16th century till present. The four hundred year development of a historical persona into a myth is very briefly captured. Given the amount of possible research samples we choose to primarily focus on Aguirre's image in 16th century chronicles written by witnesses, namely the chronicle of Francisco Vázquez. Secondarily, we also look into the image created by post-boom writers in the seventies in the 20th century, with special consideration of Abel Posse's novel Daimón. As a result, we can make a limited comparison between one of the very first and one of the very last literary images of Aguirre. Based upon these images we also try to deduce the influence of contemporary values and mentality on the creation of said images.
