Doodvonnis in Suid-Afrika : dinamiek van nie-teregstelling en afskaffingVisser, Gerhardus 04 1900 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / Executions were discontinued during November 1989. In February 1990 the State
President announced a moratorium on executions. Since 27 July 1990 the
Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1990 effected important changes to the substantive
law and procedure regarding the death sentence. The "new" death sentence
dispensation was applied by the courts and the moratorium would be lifted
as soon as the new dispensation became effective. That never materialised.
The death sentence issue was dealt with in a game of political compromise.
Criminal law and the esteem of the Government suffered as a result. Judicial
frustration and uncertainty developed regarding application of the death
sentence. The opportunity was seized by the abolitionists to attain their
ideal. The Constitutional Court declared the death sentence unconstitutional.
Presently a final Constitution is being drafted which will probably finally
do away with the death sentence. An effective process of denigration of the
death sentence thus resulted from the moratorium on executions. / Teregstellings is gedurende November 1989 gestaak.

To listen to the stories of people, is to comprehend something of their experiences and the meaning they apply to it. Political change in South Africa placed the vocational position of especially the white Afrikaner worker in an uncertain position. Together with the international community it can now be said: There is no longer such a thing as job security. In this study three white Afrikaner men and their spouses depict the influence and results of unexpected retirement on themselves and their families. Uncertainty in the job-situation led to the questioning of existing social and faith discourses. By telling their stories in the presence of people amid the same circumstances, participants were however able to co-construct meaning and create alternative stories. / Philosophy, Practical & Systematic Theology / M. Postkoloniale perspektiewe in enkele romans van André P. BrinkBothma, Mathilda Cecilia 30 November 2004 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / This study investigates postcolonial aspects of the prose oeuvre of André P. Brink, with specific reference to his historiographical texts `n Oomblik in die wind, Houd-den-Bek, Die eerste lewe van Adamastor, Inteendeel, Sandkastele and Donkermaan. The texts can be described as links in a textual history of South Africa: a history corresponding to the official version, revisioning it in an imaginative way. The texts also criticize political (mal)practices, and the pre-colonial, colonial and postcolonial social contexts of the country are critically scrutinized. The texts offer suggestions for a new political dispensation. Since the seventies the Brink oeuvre has developed a multi-dimensional postcolonial approach. Aspects of post-colonialism, post-structuralism, magical realism and feminism as articulated in the texts, are analyzed and interpreted. Brink's investigation of problems concerning historiography, and the relation between history and fiction, comprised an important aspect of the research leading to this report. / Afrikaans and Theory of Literature / D.Litt. et Phil

Physical education and school sport within the post-apartheid educational dispensation of South AfricaLion-Cachet, Susan 01 1900 (has links)
This study theoretically presupposes that the individual is an integral entity, therefore,
education should take place according to the harmonious development of all the facets of a child's
being. Even in antiquity, physical education and sport were seen to be important for a balanced
education. Every society implements physical education and sport according to own needs and
requirements, according certain values to sport, which values are reviewed in this study. A
literature study corroborates that the intellectual, physical and social development of the child
undoubtedly forms part of the total environment of the educative process. Exclusion of any facet
could cause an imbalance in the development of the child. Incorporation of physical education and
sport in the post-apartheid educational dispensation of South Africa forms the later part of the
investigation. Various factors in South Africa have an influence on the role and place of physical
education and sport within the curriculum. Government involvement in sport can determine the place
of sport in society and in the curriculum. The readmittance of South Africa into international
participation and changes in the political policy also play a role. These factors pose the challenge and facilitate the
possibility to reinstate physical education and sport at schools. The structure of South African
sport is undergoing a total change and the role players in the sports fraternity are now faced with
numerous challenges and opportunities. Reinstating physical education and sport in the school
curriculum serves a vital role in the reconstruction and development of a healthy and well-balanced
society. Furthermore, reinstatement could reverse the consequences of social and economic
injustices. Research undertaken in Australia, also provides some answers to problems for the South
African situation. It proposes new initiatives that could be of help to the relevant role players
in the planning of physical education and school sport in the post apartheid educational
dispensation of South Africa. / Educational Studies / D. Ed. (Comparative Education)

Vad är god praxis för kalibrering och funktionskontroller av vågar inom läkemedelsindustrin / What is the best practice for calibration and routine testing of balances in the pharmaceutical industryGourie, Roberto January 2022 (has links)
In this study that was commissioned by AstraZeneca's dispensing function that worksmainly by sub-dividing materials from its bulk packaging. They wanted to investigatehow and with what frequencies calibrations and routine testing for their balances shouldbe performed. This, with the purpose of harmonizing an updated and improvedstandard between the sites Gärtuna and Snäckviken. Measurement theory standards are not something that pharmaceutical companiesthemselves invest resources in but rather follow what pharmacopoeias around the worldpublish in their books. The books contain everything that may be needed for themanufacturing and design of medicines. The purpose of calibrating and performingroutine testing as often as AstraZeneca does today is to comply with regulations to beapproved during inspections. However, there is a risk that routine testing andcalibrations are performed at a higher or lower frequency than they should be, and thatirrelevant tests at these routine tests are given too high a priority to demonstrate abalances ability to function properly. To investigate this, a survey was conducted of how AstraZeneca works today withbalance calibrations and routine testing. The survey considered both how the work isdone internally via AstraZeneca’s own employees, but also externally via the balancemanufacturer and validation companies. This information, in combination with whatthe pharmacopoeias and the balance manufacturer themselves claim is the correct wayof operating, became a clear and effective way of sifting away superfluous and in somecases irrelevant methods used in AstraZeneca today. In addition to these, there arephenomena such as measurement uncertainty and external disturbance elements thatcan affect any weighing to the extent that the results are completely misleading, and inthe case of the pharmaceutical industry, such results would be unacceptable. At the end of the study, several systematic flaws or shortcomings could be identified andrecommendations to counteract or solve these were given in accordance with the aim ofachieving best practice for the use of balances in connection with the dispensingprocess. Future improvement work would have been greatly simplified and streamlinedif complete digitization and monitoring of the disturbance elements were made possible.

The development of a culture of learning among the black people of South Africa, 1652-1998Mahuma, Swetsy Maria 01 1900 (has links)
This disseration addresses a historical-education analysis of events that contributed to the deterioration of a culture of learning from 1652-1998 among Black South Africans. Black education was purported to be inferior and unjust.
The previous government spent less on Black education and applied stringent measures to solve problems besetting Black education. Dissatisfaction among Blacks led to rioting that unsettled the culture of learning, especially during 1970-1990.
It was only during the 1990's that the Nationalist government under F.W. de Klerk, acknowledged the legitimacy of the demands by Blacks for an equitable and just education. After Nelson Mandela had been elected as the first Black president of South Africa, a single education system was formed. Control and administration of education was assigned to the nine newly established provinces. The provinces adopted the motto : Re a soma - We are working in our schools, for the development of a culture of learning, especially in Black communities. / Educational Studies / M.Ed.(History of Education)
