Fernström, Agneta January 2006 (has links)
Vidare redovisas resultatet av mina efterforskningar om soffans historia och dess ägare.</p> / <p>The object of this project is a Gustavian sofa from Löfstad Castle. My aim was to demonstrate the alterations that upholstered furniture can undergo over two hundred years, showing what is original and what has been added at a later date. It is possible to obtain information from all the traces of restoration. In this sofa I found the stamp of the cabinetmaker, which made it possible to date the frame of the sofa. Furthermore, after thorough investigation I was able to determine that the filling of the sofa was much younger than the frame. My purpose was also to restore the sofa to an appearance as close as possible to the state that it had on the death of Emilie Piper, the last owner of Löfstad, in 1926. However, I also had to respect Emilie Piper’s will which stipulated that nothing was to be changed after her death. Finally, I also present my research concerning the history of this Gustavian sofa and its various owners.</p>

Kyrkomålaren Pehr Hörberg : En teologisk tolkning av konstnärens kristna bildkonst / Pehr Hörberg : A theological approach to his christian art

Cerny, Robin January 2019 (has links)

Sjödahl, Estelle January 2016 (has links)
This study contributes to the particular field of emotional history by exploring collective social attitudes towards affective expression. Here, the passionate behaviour of Swedish Prince Frederick Adolph is witnessed and evaluated by the country’s royal court during the eighteenth-century. The perspective on contemporary elite ideals is influenced by Barbara H. Rosenwein’s theory of “emotional communities”. By methodologically discerning the moral values in aristocratic and royal diaries, one can fruitfully analyse the group’s normative emotional ideas. Resulting from this thesis is an understanding of the royal court’s approval of the prince’s apparent sincere sensitivity and the disapproval of his passionate ways. Also, the importance of the culture of sensibility is understood to have an opponent in the society’s traditional structures. This is a revelation of an early modern emotional group’s formation based on shared European ideals in addition to social communal and individual belonging.KEY WORDS: history of emotions, sensibility, Sweden, royal court, Prince Frederick Adolph, diaries

”Anorna hafva mer välde i contradans än växelbref” : Sällskapsdans och klassamhällets ankomst vid slutet av 1700-talet / Social dance in the eighteenth century : Dancing between the age of rank and the age of class

Mellin, Saga January 2009 (has links)
<p>The purpose of this paper is to examine how the arrival of class society is expressed in the social dance of high society during the second half of the eighteenth century. The study is based on the idea that culture and society develope in interaction; that changes in the economic, political and social life determine the cultural expressions as well. What I wish to examine is whether cultural themes from the developing bourgeois culture – individualism, to be precise – is expressed in the social dance during the second half of the eigthteenth century. // The study shows that public balls definitely gave people a chance to show off on the dance floor in spite of social rank. The assemblies were open to everyone, and there were no formal distinction between the estates. The equality was enforced furthermore in the bal masques. // In spite of this formal equality, there are also signs of public assemblies not being quite the arenas for individual triumph beyond the boundaries of estate that they could be. Comments about dance and individuals are for example way more common in connection to private gatherings than public. When writing about public balls focus is primarily on the attender’s social rang, and more seldom on the dance at all. It’s clear that the mixing of estates was a source of agitation, and also that it was hard for peasants and merchants to compete with the nobility on their home ground. In theory the dance culture was boundary-crossing, but in reality the rift between the estates was still wide.</p>

In Varying Shades of Brown : Searching the colourful past of a 18th century masterpiece

Andersson, Elise January 2012 (has links)
The colourful past of the late 18th century marquetry furniture has seldom been highlighted. Through ageing and environmental influences, colourful marquetry furniture has lost their original expression. The current knowledge of how Swedish cabinet-makers in the late 18th century used dyes to colour their furniture is limited. Trace of colour has been observed and the use of dyes has been mentioned, but deeper research in this filed is missing. A visual examination and studies of archive documents and previous research have been performed to investigate the colourful past of Gottlieb Iwerssons masterpiece, a secretaire in Gustavian style made for the king Gustav III. The result shows that the secretaire has a colourful past in accordance with its original drawing. A hypothetical picture has been created to illustrate the colourful original appearance.
