Previous issue date: 2010-08-02 / Music and those who gravitate around it are generally perceived as associated with good, beauty and entertainment. Notwithstanding, from ancient times, music has had a role in battlefields and, in addition to functioning more and more as a tool for integration and social exclusion based on several criteria, it appears in interrogation and torture rooms, playing an important part in scenarios impregnated with violence. Likewise, music can be found in the workplace in bullying situations, involving abusive
and repetitive humiliating behavior detrimental to the physical and mental health of the employee, in violation of human dignity . In this context, in several legal claims within
the Country, under which workers seek indemnification for moral damages , music is cited associated with activities, games, motivational practices, pranks and tasks imposed by employers for a number of reasons, such as late arrivals or failure to meet milestones. Among the 223 identified court decisions rendered by the Regional Labor Courts, which were the object of content analysis' techniques, the prevailing musical themes are those of a sensual-erotic (50,39%) and of a solemn-martial (25,20%) nature. In general, the musical themes have rhythms which incite body movements, are
strongly integrated into Brazilian popular culture and are mostly products of the Cultural Industry. The court decisions, which were analyzed from the perspective of their musical themes, considering the described bullying practices, lead us to believe that violence in labor relations in Brazil, a historical heritage, still persists, under different guises. Music within
such contexts aims to violate the intimacy or to ridicule employee with different objectives, indicating rationality and instrumentality in the implementation of violence / A música e as pessoas que em torno dela gravitam são, de maneira geral, percebidas como voltadas ao bem, ao belo e ao lúdico.

Indiferença e humilhação: efeitos do narcisismo contemporâneo nas relações de desigualdade social / Indifference and humilation: effects of contemporary narcissism on inequality relationsSantos, Anielly Cris de Oliveira 25 August 2018 (has links)
Through theoretical research, the present work sought to analyze the subjective effects of the culture of narcissism in the relations of social inequality. From the Freudian concept of narcissism, it seeks to contribute with the expansion to comprehension of contemporary culture in dialogue with other knowledge areas. In particular, it focuses on the social humiliation while experience psychic suffering from failures at the relational and social field. From Joel Birman psychoanalytic thinking, the narcissism effects in contemporaneity are also discussed. The exacerbated emphasis on individuality and private relationships are manifested by indifference and denial of otherness. In addition, it is considered that the weakening of social ties in the narcissism culture occurs particularly intensely in the context of inequality and social hierarchies. In the hierarchy of social classes, economic power and access to consumer goods are references for the positioning of subjects, reiterating inequalities that foster invisibility, exclusion and humiliation, which is materialized in shared spaces. The discussion point out that social humiliation articulates with the economy of narcissism in two axes, in reference to the two subjective positions involved. On the one hand, the exaltation exacerbated of ' I ' generates the ground for the humiliation of the other one that is perceived as inferior, at the time that his devaluation strengthens narcissism by affirming and maintaining the superiority of oneself. Still, the narcissist investment of the humiliated subject is altered when he is struck by a blow that degrades him, representing a threat to his psychic integrity. The study seeks to contribute with contemporary psychoanalytic thinking as a theoretical device in the interface between psychoanalysis and society, with repercussions for clinical practice. Intends, furthermore, to collaborate with the comprehension of these situations through its visibility and denaturalization in the social field, in which are also posed the possibilities of solutions and transformation.

: En analys av Elizabeth S. Andersons kritik mot “luck egalitarianism”, applicerad på Dworkins teori om jämlika resurser / Does Dworkin’s Theory of Equality of Resources Show Equal Concern and Respect for All Citizens? : An Analysis of Elizabeth S. Andersons Critique of Luck Egalitarianism Applied to Equality of ResourcesWahlberg, Linus January 2021 (has links)

Intergenerational humiliation : exploring experiences of children and grand-children of victims of gross human rights violationsNyabadza, Kudzai Singatsho 05 1900 (has links)
Text in English / While intergenerational transmission of trauma has been widely studied, there is a paucity of literature on intergenerational humiliation. Furthermore, humiliation is regarded as a significant feature of transgenerational transmission of trauma and revenge production. Therefore, the present study aimed to contribute to addressing this paucity and to explore and understand intergenerational humiliation as experienced by 20 children and grandchildren of victims of apartheid-era gross human rights violations. Conceptually, historical trauma theory framed the study. A hermeneutic phenomenological methodology was used to achieve the aims. Through purposive-criterion sampling, data was collected and analysed using interpretive phenomenological analysis. Results show that the consequences of intergenerational humiliation are varied as feelings of hurt and loss perpetuate through the generations. Although positive influences counter these feelings within a generation, they remain alive in memories. This has implications on ethnic and racial inter-group relations as transitional societies such as South Africa seek social cohesion. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology (Research Consultation))

Bullying: Out Of The School Halls And Into The WorkplaceCooney, Lucretia 01 January 2010 (has links)
The primary purpose of this study is to identify those people at most risk of being bullied at work. While much research is being conducted on school bullying, little has been conducted on workplace bullying. Using data gathered from a 2004 study conducted by the National Opinion Research Center for the General Social Survey, which included a Quality of Work Life (QWL) module for the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), linear regressions indicated significant findings. As predicted, workers in lower level occupations, as ranked by prestige scoring developed at National Opinion Research, are more likely to be victimized. Data also suggest that being young, Black, and relatively uneducated may contribute to being bullied in certain situations. Future research is needed to examine influences of socio-economic, legal, and other demographic factors that may predict the chance of being bullied.
