It is investigated the recent creation process of the Controlling area (until then formally nonexistent), from a historical perspective of agency-structure, trying to identify hybrid dynamics and strategies of resistance-acceptance to the imposition of a new order, resulting from the exchange of management and organizational restructuring. Qualitative research methods were used, using in-depth interviews with the company high-level executives, through a semi-structured and open questions script, as well as documentary and bibliographic analysis of primary and secondary sources. It can be observed that the scenario of institutional and economic crisis through which the organization, the sector and the country were passing made possible the emergence of managerialist logics and financial perspectives, accelerating the processes of changes that were already underway. However, we observed resistance actions that reshaped the initially proposed design for organizational restructuring referenced to market benchmarks, in which interaction and negotiation between agents promoted hybridization processes of structures and strategies that re-adjusted the final configuration. The work approach can be characterized as a limiting factor in hindering a more active and prolific participation of the interviewees, since in addressing sensitive issues such as restructuring, strategy, changes, acceptance, resistance, among others, they may worry about preserving information secrecy, strategic data or specific knowledge for the organization, and in certain cases there may be a selectivity criterion regarding the responses granted. It contributes to the practice because it allows the understanding of acceptance-resistance dynamics to organizational change and the resolutions arising from the social interaction of agents in the corporate environment, as a way of providing subsidies to managers of hybrid organizations belonging to this and other sectors and countries. It also adds to the theory evidence regarding research linked to the critical perspective, in that it brings important elements and field data to academic discussion. / O presente trabalho pretende analisar dinâmicas de mudança e continuidade em contextos de crise, por meio de um estudo de caso de uma organização híbrida do setor de energia em um país emergente. Investiga-se o processo recente de criação da área de Controladoria (até então formalmente inexistente), sob uma perspectiva histórica de agência- estrutura, procurando identificar dinâmicas e estratégias híbridas de resistência-aceitação à imposição de uma nova ordem, advinda da troca de gestão e reestruturação organizacional. Metodologia – Os métodos de pesquisa utilizados foram qualitativos, através da realização de entrevistas em profundidade com executivos de alto nível gerencial da companhia, por meio de um roteiro semi-estruturado com questões abertas, bem como análise documental e bibliográfica de fontes primárias e secundárias. Constata-se que o cenário de crise institucional e econômica pela qual passavam a organização, o setor e o país possibilitaram a emergência de lógicas gerencialistas e perspectivas financistas, acelerando processos de mudanças que já se encontravam anteriormente em curso. No entanto, observaram-se ações de resistência que remodelaram o desenho inicialmente proposto para a reestruturação organizacional referenciada a benckmarks de mercado, em que a interação e negociação entre os agentes promoveu processos de hibridização de estruturas e estratégias que readequaram a configuração final. O enfoque do trabalho pode ser caracterizado como um fator de limitação ao dificultar uma participação mais ativa e prolífica dos entrevistados, já que ao abordar temas sensíveis como reestruturação, estratégia, mudanças, aceitação, resistência, dentre outros, podem preocupar-se em preservar informações sigilosas, dados estratégicos ou conhecimentos específicos para a organização, podendo haver em certos casos um critério de seletividade quanto às respostas concedidas. Contribui para a prática pois permite o entendimento de dinâmicas de aceitação-resistência à mudança organizacional e as resoluções advindas da interação social dos agentes no ambiente corporativo, como forma de fornecer subsídios a gestores de organizações híbridas pertencentes a este e outros setores e países. Também acrescenta à teoria evidências em relação às pesquisas vinculadas à perspectiva crítica, na medida em que traz elementos importantes e dados de campo à discussão acadêmica.

A partir do referencial teórico da Hélice Tríplice é possível conceber a inovação tecnológica enquanto resultado da interação entre as hélices universidade, empresa e governo. Dessa interação resultam alterações no funcionamento de cada hélice e a criação de organizações híbridas no ponto de interseção trilateral. Foram estabelecidas três categorias empíricas para compreender o papel do governo na política de inovação: 1. Capacidade do governo de constituir-se como um Espaço de Consenso, 2. Análise dos programas estaduais para interação universidade-empresa e 3. Atuação de três tipos de organizações híbridas: Núcleos de Inovação Tecnológica, incubadoras e parques tecnológicos. A pesquisa classifica-se como qualitativa, descritiva, exploratória e de estudo de caso, com as técnicas de pesquisa bibliográfica, documental, observações e entrevistas. As políticas de inovação de três estados foram analisadas em profundidade: Amazonas, Pernambuco e Santa Catarina. O resultado indica que os governos avançaram na inclusão da temática da inovação nas agendas estaduais enquanto tema central para o desenvolvimento econômico e social, mas que esse avanço não se reverteu em maior envolvimento dos órgãos públicos sendo uma agenda quase totalmente conduzida pelas Secretarias Estaduais de Ciência e Tecnologia e Fundações de Amparo à Pesquisa. O governo age como Espaço de Consenso, tendo sua legitimidade para coordenar e implementar ações reconhecida pelos outros stakeholders afetos à temática da inovação, contudo falta clareza quanto a quais são os objetivos e setores prioritários da política. Em relação aos programas de fomento à inovação, os governos adotam estratégias de estímulo ao empreendedorismo como forma de contornar a dificuldade de interação com as empresas existentes. Já os programas para promoção de interação entre universidades e empresas esbarram em barreiras culturais e institucionais que o governo não consegue romper sem mudança de mentalidade dos representantes das outras hélices acerca da relevância dessas parcerias. / This doctoral thesis addresses the role of government in formulating and implementing technological innovation public policy, as well as new organizational formats generated from the interaction between universities, companies and government. According to the Triple Helix theory, technological innovation results from the interaction between helixes represented by universities, companies and government. This interaction causes changes to each helix’s functioning and the creation of hybrid organizations at their trilateral intersection point. Three empirical categories were established to understand the role of government in innovation policy: 1. The government's capacity to establish itself as a Space for Consensus; 2. State programs for university-company interaction; and 3. Performance of three types of hybrid organizations: technology transfer offices, incubators and science and technology parks. This is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory case study research, using techniques of bibliographic and documentation research, observation and interviews. The innovation policies of three states were the subject of in-depth analysis: Amazonas, Pernambuco and Santa Catarina. The results indicate that while these states have moved forward with including innovation in their public agenda, as key to economic and social development, these advances have not entailed greater involvement of multiple public departments, with the agenda remaining mostly in the hands of the states’ Science and Technology Departments and public Research Support Foundations. The government acts as a Space for Consensus, with its legitimacy to coordinate and implement actions recognized by other stakeholders related to innovation; there remains, however, lack of clarity as to the policy’s goals and priority sectors. In relation to innovation-promoting programs, governments adopt strategies to bolster entrepreneurship as a way of dodging the difficult interaction with existing companies. On the other hand, programs developed to promote interaction between universities and companies face cultural and institutional barriers that the government cannot surpass without a shift in mindset from representatives of other helixes as to the relevance of these partnerships.

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att förklara och jämföra kvalité i statligt ägda företag och privatägda företags hållbarhetsrapporter Metod: Studien har en kvantitativ metod med en deduktiv ansats, då en hypotes genereras utifrån en litteraturgenomgång. En innehållsanalys genomförs för att koda kvalitativ information i hållbarhetsrapporter till kvantitativ information genom att samla in data från årsredovisningar och hållbarhetsrapporter. Insamlad data från 30 statligt ägda företag och 30 privatägda företag analyseras sedan i SPSS. Slutsats: Studiens resultat visar att olika ägarstrukturer påverkar hållbarhetsrapportering i form av att statligt ägda företags hållbarhetsrapporter har bättre kvalité jämfört med privatägda företag. Ett signifikant positivt samband föreligger mellan kvalité och statligt ägda företag där statligt ägda företag uppnår ett högre genomsnittligt kvalitetsindex och rapporterar fler antal ord i sina hållbarhetsrapporter. Previous studies show a lack of knowledge on how different ownership structures can affect the quality in sustainability reports. State-owned and privately owned enterprises differ in ownership structure and thus have different purposes with their organizations, which leads the study to compare whether there are differences in quality between sustainability reports. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explain and compare quality between stateowned enterprises and privately owned enterprises sustainability reports. Method: The study has a quantitative method with a deductive approach, as a hypothesis is generated based on a literature review. A content analysis is performed to code qualitative information in sustainability reports to quantitative information by collecting data from annual reports and sustainability reports. The collected data from 30 state-owned and 30 privately owned enterprises are then being analyzed in SPSS. Conclusion: The results of the study show that different ownership structures affect sustainability reporting where state-owned enterprises´ sustainability reports have better quality compared to privately owned enterprises. There is a significant positive relationship between quality and state-owned enterprises. They achieve a higher average quality index and report more words in their sustainability reports. The control variable size showed the strongest significant positive relationship with quality in sustainability reports.

Då arbetssättet innebär en kombination av arbetsplatser där anställda arbetar både på plats och distans, skapas unika möjligheter och utmaningar för den hybrida arbetsplatsen. Dessa möjligheter och utmaningar kan medföra både positiva och negativa effekter på medarbetares motivation, vilket beskrivs som en central aspekt för ledare att förstå och fokusera på. Ledare har genom sin roll en stor möjlighet att inverka på medarbetares motivation, vilket gör det av intresse att förstå hur ledare arbetar med motivation hos medarbetare i en hybrid arbetsplats. Leaders have a significant opportunity to influence employees’ motivation through their role, making it a topic of interest to understand how leaders work with motivation in a hybrid workplace. Aim: The purpose of the study is to create an increased understanding of how leaders work with employee motivation in hybrid workplaces, from the leaders' perspective. The study aims to investigate the purpose based on previous research on the hybrid workplace, leaders' role in motivation and Self-determination theory. Research questions: • What challenges and opportunities do leaders experience in maintaining good motivation in a hybrid workplace? • How do leaders work to try to manage or take advantage of these challenges and opportunities to influence their employees' motivation? Methodology: The study consists of a qualitative multiple case study and adopts a phenomenological scientific approach. The empirical data for the study were collected through seven semi-structured interviews. In line with the study's purpose, the selected sample frame comprises leaders working in a hybrid workplace with personnel responsibilities. Employing an iterative approach, a deeper understanding of the phenomenon has gradually emerged by moving between theory and empirical data. A thematic analysis was subsequently conducted. Conclusion: The study shows that the hybrid workplace follows with both challenges and opportunities in motivating employees. Some of the key challenges for leaders in fostering motivation are finding a balance between the need for autonomy and control, dealing with reduced social interaction, and difficulties in building trust. The primary opportunity identified is rooted in increased flexibility, which promotes motivation in various aspects. To address these challenges and take advantage of the opportunities, the findings indicate the importance of emotional intelligence, greater emphasis on addressing individual needs, and increased focus on relationship-building as key success factors for leaders.

Hållbarhetsredovisning i kommunala och privata bostadsbolag / Sustainability reporting in municipally and privately-owned housing companies

Bakgrund: Hållbarhetsredovisning har blivit en viktigare del för de svenska företagen vilket visas i den signifikanta ökningen av omfattningen och kvaliteten av hållbarhetsredovisningen som har skett den senaste tiden. Ett flertal studier har tidigare studerat sambandet mellan hållbarhetsredovisningen och faktorer som storlek, branschtillhörighet och synlighet. Det finns däremot en avsaknad på studier av sambandet mellan faktorer som ledningens syn på hållbarhetsredovisning, företagskultur, ägarform och hållbarhetsredovisningens omfattning. Kommunala och privata bostadsbolag är exempel på bolag där ägandeformen skiljer sig åt och en studie med dessa bolag kan därmed bidra till forskningsområdet. Syfte: Studiens syfte är att jämföra privata och kommunala bostadsbolags omfattning av hållbarhetsredovisning Metod: Denna kvantitativa studie utförs genom en deduktiv ansats där hypoteser formuleras utifrån befintliga teorier. Genom en innehållsanalys av sekundärdata bestående av årsredovisningar och hållbarhetsredovisningar från 30 kommunala och 30 privata bostadsbolag operationaliseras omfattningen av hållbarhetsrapportering. Datan används sedan som underlag till OLS-regression. Slutsats: Studiens resultat visar att ägandeformen har en påverkan på omfattningen av hållbarhetsredovisning i form av ett signifikant positivt samband mellan kommunalt ägande av bostadsbolag och omfattningen av hållbarhetsredovisning. Utav måtten storlek, lönsamhet, risk och jämlikhet så visar endast storlek ett signifikant samband med omfattningen av hållbarhetsredovisning. Det går därmed att konstatera ägandeformen är en viktig faktor att ta i beaktande vid undersökningar av hållbarhetsredovisningar / Introduction: Sustainability reporting has become an important aspect for Swedish companies, which has been shown by the significant increase of the magnitude and quality sustainability reports as of late. A considerable amount of previous studies has examined the relationship between variables such as size, industry affiliation and visibility with the extent of sustainability reports. Managerial attitudes, company culture and ownership are however factors which are less researched when related to the extent of reported sustainability. Studies can thereby be made on municipally and privatelyowned housing companies, seeing as the ownership differs between the two organizations, in order to contribute to the field of research. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the extent of reported sustainability in municipally and privately-owned housing companies. Method: This quantitative study is executed through a deductive approach in which hypotheses are formulated through existing theories. The extent of reported sustainability is operationalized through a content analysis on secondary data consisting of annual reports and sustainability reports collected from 30 municipally and 30 privately owned housing companies. The collected data is then analysed with OLS- regression analysis. Conclusion: The results of the study show a correlation between the variable ownership and the extent of reported sustainability in the form of a significant positive correlation between municipally owned housing companies and the extent of reported sustainability. Out of the measures; size, profitability, risk and equality which were tested in the study, only size showed a significant correlation with the extent of reported sustainability. The study thereby concludes that ownership is an important variable to take into consideration when studying sustainability reports.

No cenário teórico dessa disciplina, predominam os referenciais produzidos no ambiente anglo-americano, a prescrição de modelos estratégicos universais e a falta profundidade teórica e conceitual que ajude a melhor compreender o fenômeno das redes. Esse arcabouço teórico dominante na disciplina designa maior relevância e foco à tese da mercadização, que reproduz os princípios do neoliberalismo e marginaliza as demais teorias de mercado que também são de fundamental importância para a compreensão do desempenho das empresas e das redes. Exemplos de teorias marginalizadas são as que endereçam o reconhecimento das interfaces entre poder, política, mercado, Estado e sociedade. Especialmente em economias emergentes assim como em economias em transição, como é o caso do Brasil e de Portugal respectivamente, essas teorias marginalizadas revelam o reconhecimento de que estratégias de não-mercado são tão importantes quanto estratégias de mercado. Dada a atual relevância das operações envolvendo as organizações híbridas Petrobras e Galp, em especial na indústria petrolífera de Brasil e Portugal, por meio de um estudo de caso a presente dissertação busca identificar como e porque são formadas redes de organizações híbridas na indústria petrolífera luso-brasileira e como estratégias de mercado e de não-mercado interagem nessas redes. / Since discipline was born, strategy presents as its central characteristics the creation, the use and difusion of models that help to build and keep the major company’s strategist authority and the strong basement in economic theories and in the autonomous entity paradigm. Within its theoretical scenario, prevail the anglo american theories produced, the prescription of universal strategic models and the lack of theoretical and conceptual deepness that enables to better comprehend the network phenomenon. This dominant theoretical framework within the discipline gives more relevance and focus to the market thesis, that reproduces the neoliberalism principles and marginalizes the other market theories also important for the comprehension of the organizations and network performance. Some examples of marginal theories are those who address the recognizing of power, politics, market, State and society interfaces. Specially in emergent and transition economies, as Brasil and Portugal respectively, these marginal theories reveal the recognizing of non-market strategies are as important as market strategies. Considering the present relevance of operations involving the hybrid organizations Petrobras and Galp, in special in the Brazilian and Portuguese oil industries, through a case study this dissertation aims to identify how and why hybrid organizations networks are formed in the Brazilian-Portuguese oil industry and how market and non-market strategies interact in among these networks.

Purpose: This paper investigates how sustainability reporting differs between state-owned enterprises and if there is a difference given the quality in the information within state-owned ownership. Theory: Begins with the reporting legislation and Global Reporting Initiative. Thereafter previous research is presented with sustainability reporting to define the quality concept. The theory ends with institutional logic. Method: This paper uses a qualitative method as the research design. The paper has used an assessment sheet composed by previous researchers. Empirics: Firstly the formulation of the sustainability reports for the companies are presented. Thereafter the reports relevance and reliability are revealed. Conclusions: In this report there is no difference of quality in the sustainability report within stateowned enterprises and partial state-owned enterprises. However, this study finds one other factor that has an impact between the enterprises. / Syfte: Studien undersöker hur hållbarhetsredovisningen skiljer sig åt mellan statligt ägda företag och om det är skillnad i informationens kvalitet utifrån den statliga ägarandelen. Teori: Börjar med lagstiftningen och Global Reporting Initiative därefter presenteras tidigare forskning inom hållbarhetsredovisning för att sedan definiera kvalitetsbegreppet. Teoriavsnittet avslutas med institutionell logik. Metod: Denna studie använder sig av en kvalitativ metod där forskningsstrategin består av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Studien har vidare använt sig av ett bedömningsschema som är framtaget av tidigare forskare. Empiri: I empirin presenteras först utformningen av hållbarhetsredovisningarna för de undersökta företagen för att sedan presentera resultatet av rapporternas relevans och trovärdighet. Slutsatser: Kvaliteten på hållbarhetsredovisningen inom statligt ägda företag är lika varandra och det framkommer inte någon större skillnad mellan helt och delvis statligt ägda företag. Däremot finner studien att det finns en annan faktor som påverkar skillnader mellan statligt ägda företag.

Inter-teamsamordning i skagila projekt : En fallstudie på Avanza Bank för att möta beroenden i projektprocessen / Inter-team Coordination in Scagile Projects : A case study at Avanza Bank to adress dependencies in the project process

Användandet av agila metodiker har ökat under de senaste decennierna. Detta har lett till en uppskalning av agila metodiker då även stora organisationer vill uppnå fördelarna som kommer med det agila arbetssättet. Att skala upp agila metodiker, och använda dessa i storskaligt agila miljöer (författarnas koncept skagila miljöer, som återfinns i sektionen ’Begreppet ’skagil’'), kommer dock med flera nya organisatoriska utmaningar. En utmaning, som omnämns i både litteratur och i arbetets empiriska undersökning på företaget Avanza, är inter-teamsamordning i skagila miljöer. Avanza har identifierat problemen med beroenden mellan team i skagila mjukvaruutvecklingsprojekt. För att möta problemet med beroenden initierades det här arbetet med syftet att, utifrån Avanzas nuvarande projekt design, undersöka hur teamöverskridande arbete kan samordnas för att möta beroenden i projektprocessen. För att uppnå syftet genomfördes en fallstudie på Avanza innehållande intervjuer med tolv respondenter och observation av interna dokument. Den empiriska undersökningen bekräftade ursprungsproblematiken gällande inter-teamsamordning och bidrog även med information om företagets nuvarande projektdesign. Resultatet visade att projektorganisationen verkar som en hybrid organisation med starka, agila inslag. Dock visade sig Avanza uppleva sin projektdesignen som helt agil. Vidare ansågs projektets beroenden bidra till agilt slöseri, vilket påverkar både produktivitet och effektivitet negativt i mjukvaruutvecklingsprocessen. Fyra huvudområden av agilt slöseri identifierades vilka var väntan, rörelse, defekter och tilläggsprocesser. Genom att klustra ihop liknande slöseri framtogs tre problemområden kopplade till Avanzas projektprocess, nämligen ’viss frånvaro av proaktivt angreppssätt och planering’, ’viss frånvaro av forum för hantering av inter-teamberoenden’ och ’skillnader i implementering av agila metodiker och projektprioritering bland teamen’. För att möta problemen fastställdes sex åtgärder, nämligen implementering av en mer proaktiv projektledarroll, anammning av hybridkulturen, skapande av rollspecifika team, implementering av arrangerade forum för teamsynkronisering, kodifiering och utveckling av befintliga mekanismer och samordning samt skapande av ett gemensamt förhållningssätt till agila principer i projekt. Arbetets slutsatser är till viss del generaliserbara och skulle kunna adopteras av andra företag eller projektorganisationer som har liknande problem och projektdesign som Avanza. Dock krävs en viss ansträngning för att först identifiera vilken projektdesign intressentföretag har samt att identifiera projektrelaterat slöseri. Avanza är även verksamma inom tech-branschen där projektorganisationen verkar kring mjukvaruutveckling. Därför kan det antas att slutsatserna mer sannolikt, passar andra organisationer som jobbar med mjukvaruutveckling. / The usage of agile methodologies has rapidly increased over the last decades. This has led to an upscaling of agile methods since larger organizations want to gain the benefits of the agile way of working. However, this has not come without issues, and using agile at scale (authors’ concept scagile, in upcoming section ’Begreppet ’skagil”) has introduced new organizational challenges. One challenge that is mentioned both in literature and in the empirical findings at the case company, Avanza, is inter-team coordination in scagile environments. Today Avanza is struggling with dependencies between teams in scaled agile software projects. To address this issue this study was initiated with the purpose to, based on Avanza’s current project design, investigate how cross-team collaboration could be coordinated to face and overcome dependencies in the project process. To accomplish this a case study, containing interviews with twelve respondents and observation of internal documents, was made. The empirical findings confirmed the original issues related to inter-team coordination and also provided valuable information about the company’s project design. Regarding the project design the findings showed that the project organization is a hybrid organization with strong agile influences. However, the alleged perception of the project design was a fully agile organization. Further, the dependencies in the projects seem to cause agile waste, which has a negative influence on productivity and efficiancy in software projects. Four main areas of agile waste were detected, namely waiting, motion, defects and extra processes. By clustering similar waste, three main problem areas were detected, viz ’a certain absence of a proactive approach and planning’, ‘a certain absence of forums for handling inter-team dependencies’, and ‘differences between teams regarding the implementation and usage of agile principles, and project prioritization’. To face these issues, six measures were determined, namely implementation of a more proactive project management approach, embracing the hybrid culture, creating role specific teams, arranging forums for team synchronization, codifying and developing the current coordination mechanisms and deciding on a shared approach for project methodologies. The findings of this study is to some extent generalizable and could be adopted by other companies, or project organizations, that are struggling with the same problem areas and have the same project design as Avanza. However, some effort is required to first determine current project design and to identify project related waste. Further, the client company is operative in the fin-tech industry where the project organization orbits around software development. Therefore it can be assumed that the findings are more likely to fit another software organization.

Kommersialism, mer än bara ett fenomen : En studie av kommersialismen inom svenska herrelitföreningar och om den miljö de verkar i, i förhållande till yttre partners.

Abstrakt Syftet med studien är att undersöka herrelitföreningarnas beroende av yttre partners. Samtidigt lyfta fram elitföreningarnas användning av kommersiell verksamhet och hur det påverkar deras ekonomi. Studien kommer också att diskutera fördelar och nackdelar som de undersökta föreningarna ser med införandet av idrottsaktiebolag, eftersom idrottsföreningens går mot ett mer företagsliknande förhållningssätt. Studien är förankrad i den osäkra miljön som bildas när kommersialisering och det ideella idealet ställs mot varandra inom svensk idrott. Forskning instämmer i att idrotten måste skapa en balans mellan kommersialisering och ideell idealet. Å andra sidan råder en viss oenighet om kommersiella intäkter handlar om vinstmaximering eller nyttomaximering. Resource Dependence Theory används för att förklara hur partners minskar deras beroende och osäkerheter i miljön de arbetar i förhållande till yttre partners. Metoden som används är en blandning av kvantitativ och kvalitativ forskning, genom ett frågeformulär som innehåller frågor i en blandning av enkätfrågor och semistrukturerade intervjufrågor. Sexton respondenter deltog i studien. Studien visar att herrelitföreningar tycker att samarbete med externa partners är något att sträva efter, men att det också skapar ett beroende av dessa externa partners. Det verkar också som om beroendet är oförändrat oavsett sammansättningsform. / Abstract The purpose of the study is to investigate the dependence of associations on external organizations. At the same time highlight the sports associations' use of commercial activities and how it affects their finances. The study will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages that the surveyed associations see with the incorporation of sports associations, as the sports associations world is moving towards a more corporate-like approach. The study is rooted in the uncertain environment that is formed when commercialization and the non-profit ideal are set against each other within Swedish sports. Research agrees that sport needs to strike a balance between commercialization and the non-profit ideal. On the other hand, there is disagreement as to whether commercial revenue is about profit maximization or utility maximization. Resource Dependence Theory is used to explain how organizations reduce their dependence and uncertainties in the environment they operate in relation to external partners. The method applied is a mixture of quantitative and qualitative research, through a questionnaire containing questions in a mixture of survey and semi-structured interview questions. Sixteen respondents participated in the study. The study shows that elite sports associations find that collaboration with external organizations is something to strive for, but that it also creates a dependency on these external organizations. It also appears that the dependency is unchanged regardless of the form of association.
