LÓGICAS VIVENCIAIS DA IDENTIDADE EXTENSIONISTA EM UMA ORGANIZAÇÃO PÚBLICA DE EXTENSÃO RURAL / IDENTITY CONFLICT IN EXTENSION RURAL: THE CASE OF A PUBLIC ORGANIZATION IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL

Souza, Leliani Valéria de 24 August 2011 (has links)
Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária / This dissertation seeks to analyze and understand the process of identification and construction of professional identity from the perspective of rural extension workers, and the influence of public agricultural extension in this context. For this study are the concepts of identity, professional identity and organizational identification. The research is based on a case study scenario that has a public extension of the state of Santa Catarina. 22 interviews were conducted, 21 with extension officers based in rural municipalities distributed in eight regions of the state and a director of the extension o the organization studied. The analysis focuses on the experiential logic of identity extension, rural extension workers in identifying with the organization and job satisfaction. The results show the definition of three extension profiles: the company-oriented, self-focused and guided by an ideal, which have an undeniable consistency in its configuration, the result of a dual transaction, one between the individual and his past, and the other between the individual and the organization built through processes of socialization diverse and differentiated. It appears that there are several factors that influence the identification of rural extension workers with the company, which showed very high degree. It was also noted that the rural extension wants to be recognized internally by their performance and dedication as well as have effective career advancement prospects. Finally, the so-called identity crisis is not recognized by all respondents, and acquires different meanings. For some this may be the breakdown of traditional values and references hitherto accepted as guiding the lives of these professionals, which induces changes in the mental constructs associated with identity previously built.

The potential use of a personal portfolio for identity development of an adolescent

Quinn, Magdalena Katarzyna 15 June 2011 (has links)
This study focuses on how a Personal Portfolio can facilitate the narration of an adolescent’s life story and the outcome on self understanding. An instrumental case study that was exploritative and descriptive in nature was used to gain insight into the potential value of using a Personal Portfolio to reflect an adolescent’s quest for identity development. Data were collected by means of Personal Portfolio activities, open-ended interviews, tape-recordings of participant interviews, reflective reports written by the research participant as well as observations and field notes recorded in a diary by the researcher. The thematic analysis of the data was done within a constructivist-interpretivist framework. Five core categories: Identity Crisis/Confusion, Identity Exploration,Identifying Developmental Assets, Unresolved Past Issues, and the Experience of Compiling a Personal Portfolio emerged. These core categories were further linked to sub-categories and related themes. This study found that compiling a Personal Portfolio supported the research participant’s quest for identity. In particular, it facilitated a process of self exploration regarding career choice and sexual identity and resulted in increased self-knowledge, an awareness of personal assets and an overall improved sense of self-worth and self-confidence. This study also provided the research participant with a platform to work from and the means to solve some personal problems. The study further more concluded that a Personal Portfolio is a cost effective method that is suitable for use in a diverse South African context which could be utilised by counsellors and educators with their task to assist adolescents with their identity development. / Dissertation (MEd)--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Educational Psychology / unrestricted

Self-reflexivity In Postmodernist Texts: A Comparative Study Of The Works Of John Fowles And Orhan Pamuk

Saracoglu, Semra 01 September 2003 (has links) (PDF)
This dissertation makes a comparative analysis of the self-reflexivity in the novels of one British and one Turkish writer - John Fowles and Orhan Pamuk. The study restricts itself to three novels by each writer. In making this analysis under the light of Robert Scholes&amp / #8217 / s theory of reality, and making use of Linda Hutcheon&amp / #8217 / s classification of self-reflexivity, and Jacque Lacan&amp / #8217 / s The Mirror Stage, it is argued that both Fowles and Pamuk create worlds within worlds which are similar to but different from each other, namely the fictional world, the world of the implied author, and the outer world, i.e. the world of the writer. Although these worlds reflect each other, it is not a one-to-one reflection of outer reality, since art/fiction is illusion. This dissertation argues that in accordance with their aims in both life and literature, and their views on reality, Fowles and Pamuk make use iv of different self-reflexive devices. While Fowles prefers overt self-reflexive devices, Pamuk chooses to employ both overt and covert ones / this may be because Fowles aims to be didactic whereas Pamuk does not. While Fowles believes in the existence of the external world, Pamuk rejects it. Whatever techniques they use, it is shown that they both write self-reflexive texts focusing on fictionality as their theme. The analysis of the six novels by Fowles and Pamuk as the representatives of two different literatures demonstrates that self-reflexivity is an indispensable characteristic of postmodern fiction and that Pamuk is more postmodernist compared to Fowles.

Within the framework of the studies related to teachers, the Professional Identity Crisis has been a current issue which has elicited researches in several countries. In Brazil, some changes in political, social and economic sphere have been seen lately in recent years and these such changes flaw the society, in general, specially the Education System. Therefore, this assignment aims to investigate the influences of the contemporary configuration of education in the Professional Identity of Mathematics teacher of Basic Education System. For this purpose, a qualitative research was made by means of research into studying of the issue according to an important question: “How has the current configuration of education related to the significant changes in Paulistas Public Schools contributed to a new identification to the role of Mathematics teachers inside their classrooms, so that it is possible to trigger a crisis process to a Professional Identity? Data were collected through questionnaire and the material was analyzed in the view of analyzing the subject based on the theories used as reference. Studying the research, it was possible to understand how the current changes of education may affect several professions, including the Mathematics teachers who admit a large number of negative implications for the mentioned profession. Accordingly, this research can also investigate, in these ones `view however, what the factors on the base of the Professional Identity Crisis have been contributing to an understanding of this phenomenon which can conduct forward reconstruction of Professional Identity to Mathematics teachers. As a result, contemporary configurations of education from these changes can be seen as well as the new society demands, transferred some functions to school which once were assumed to others, for instance family, demanding new functions and this fact has destabilized the role of teachers. Besides, the teachers have been encountering increasingly a lack of suitable working conditions and with the deterioration the professional status since all imposed demands may not be accompanied by professional improvements. As a result, teachers go through a deep crisis of Professional Identity leading these professionals to a sense of resistance to changes and demoralization, thus they withdrawal their occupation.

I carry three pieces of metal in my body from the separatists : Ukrainian war veterans' experiences of the reintegration process and adjustment to civilian life

Omerbasic, Anita January 2020 (has links)
The Donbas war in Ukraine has resulted in over 380,000 veterans who now have to reintegrate into civilian life again. What to do with former combatants has been on the agenda for many years since their reintegration plays a critical role in the transition from war to peace. Researchers have emphasized the relevancy of conducting more studies about how the veterans themselves experience the transition to civilian life. Therefore, this study which is based on ten qualitative in-depth interviews explores how Ukrainian war veterans experienced the reintegration process following the war in Donbas and how they adjusted their identities in the transition from military to civilian life.Through a thematic analytical approach and by using a theoretical framework related to identity adjustment processes their experiences were analysed. The results of this study show that although the extent to which the veterans are in need of assistance after deployment varies, all veterans did experience difficulties when returning to a civilian setting. The bureaucratic processes and media coverage of veterans were expressed to have the biggest negative impact. Female veterans had experiences that differed from their male counterparts both before deployment and during the transition phase. Moreover, all veterans to some extent experienced identity disruptions during the reintegration process. Ultimately, the ongoing war in Donbas is impacting the possibility for these veterans to fully move on and take on their civilian responsibilities. They continue to wait for the prospects of peace, both for their country and for themselves.

Ambivalence identity: kulturní tradice jako téma v současném českém a slovenském umění / Ambivalence of Identity: Cultural Traditions As a Theme in Contemporary Czech and Slovak Art

Maixner, Miroslav January 2020 (has links)
The dissertation focuses on the phenomenon of a new presence of references to traditional folk culture in contemporary Czech and Slovak art. Emphasis is placed on the period from the year 2000 to the present. The core of the work consists of chapters devoted to artists who in this period significantly thematized various aspects of traditional folk culture, either as a partial element of specific projects or in the form of continuous interest in the field. The essence of this part is to show the breadth and heterogeneity of the examined manifestations across the media spectrum. The main purpose of the work is to analyze and place the researched phenomena in a relevant context within the theory and history of art. The reason is their different nature from thematically similar manifestations in the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition, when compared with current trends abroad, a number of connections are shown, such as links to environmental issues, criticism of the state of society and, above all, to new issues related to personal and collective identification. Therefore, I base the analysis of these phenomena on a hybrid interdisciplinary basis using theoretical approaches to identity in the social sciences and humanities. I do so in the introductory theoretical chapters, but the main focus is on the final analytical synthesis. To a large extent, it also builds on data obtained from interviews with artists, the transcripts of which the reader will find in the appendix. Finally, the documentation of curatorial projects and exhibitions realized as a practical part of the dissertation project is attached.

Embodied ideas and divided selves: revisiting Laing via Bakhtin

Burkitt, Ian, Sullivan, Paul W. January 2009 (has links)
In this article, we apply Mikhail Bakhtin's model of a 'divided self' to R.D. Laing's eponymous work on the lived experience of divided selves in 'psychosis'. Both of these authors offer intriguing insights into the fracturing of self through its social relationships (including the 'micro-dialogues' staged for oneself) but from uniquely different perspectives. Bakhtin (1984) uses Dostoevsky's novels as his material for a theory of self, centrally concerned with moments of split identity, crisis, and personal transformation, while Laing relies on his patient's accounts of 'psychosis'. We will outline how two key Bakhtinian divisions of the self (spirit/soul and authoritative/internally persuasive discourse) help to make sense of Laing's descriptions of his patient's experiences and micro-dialogues. Conversely, when refracted through Laing's phenomenology Bakhtin's account of the self becomes richer and somewhat darkened in terms of a double-edged ontology, which describes a maximally open self but one that is consumed by ideas, unable to manage their contradictions. The implications of this for managing the dilemmas of self-identity will be drawn out.

Postkolonialiteit in die twintigste- en een-en-twintigste-eeuse Afrikaanse drama met klem op die na-sestigers / Postkolonialiteit in 20ste- en 21ste-eeuse Afrikaanse drama met klem op die na-sestigers

Van der Merwe, Anna Susanna Petronella 30 November 2003 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / In this thesis the term post-colonialism in the Afrikaans drama is investigated, focussing on the post-sixties. The term post-colonialism is difficult to define. Not only are theories of post-colonialism in a state of continuous flux and shifting emphasis, but as a result of different colonial dominations, separate identities have been constructed in South-Africa; so that defining the terms colonial, post colonial and post-colonial proves to be even more problematic. The purpose of this study is to determine to what extent the Afrikaans drama fits into these discourses. The basic point of departure is the fact that post-colonialism played a considerable role in the development of the Afrikaans drama, at the same time providing a more varied scope. The research covers several aspects of post-colonialism in Afrikaans drama; each dealt with in a separate chapter. A multitude of perspectives are featured within the broader discourse in order to obtain multiple norms and standards in a phase of self-criticism. The focus falls mainly on themes and not on performance aspects. New perspectives on issues such as canon texts, silence, hero-worship, the portrayal of woman, patriarchy, and neo-colonialism are presented (chapter 1). In chapter 2 focus falls on the period before 1960, and notably the question of nationalism (associated with apartheid) and the portrayal of the Afrikaner. The literary canon, forms of violence and the position of the super-Afrikaner are viewed in a new light during the re-writing of post-colonial history and the resulting paradigm shifts after 1960. Renewed emphasis is placed on discourse concerning land (chapter 3). Contrasting concepts regarding race, class, language, gender and religion are reconsidered in order to contribute towards the heterogeneous nature of post-colonialism (chapter 4). The function of theatre is to re-evaluate in the context of a post-1994 democratic system. Texts now focus especially on empowerment, re-discovery and re-ordering of history, reconciliation, inter-cultural contact and a post-apartheid syndrome (chapter 5). Anti-hegemonic resistance in Afrikaans literature since the sixties has confronted writers with the challenge of depicting or creating a larger post-colonial reality through their texts. / Afrikaans & Theory of Literature / D. Otto Rühle und die Sozialpädagogik / ein biografisch-sozialwissenschaftlicher Zugang / Otto Rühle and social education

Stecklina, Gerd 13 October 2002 (has links) (PDF)
Jahrhunderts.
