Famílias incestuosas: diferenciação das funções familiares / Incestuous families: differenciation of family functions

Mariana Lanna Pinheiro 19 June 2015 (has links)
This research aims to investigate possible changes to the dynamics of incestuous families after the commencement of psychotherapeutic treatment. Hypothetically, primary and secondary changes happen to the families taken to the Sexual Abuse Study and Help Center (Centro de Estudos e Atendimentos Referente ao Abuso Sexual - CEARAS) from the proposed treatment. This essay has been elaborated from a psychoanalytical perspective with psychosocial emphasis, in which the individual is considered from his cultural context. To do so, the grounds for the analysis is the work developed by the Study Center with the incestuous families. Objective: To think about the primary and secondary changes that arose from the therapeutic treatment provided by CEARAS to the dysfunctional families. Methodology: This is a retrospective document research. The handbook of the 19 families supported by CEARAS from the period between 1993 and 2013 which were part of the final sample have been analysed. The information about the calls, handbook conditions and treatment have been searched. The changes described in the handbooks were split in two groups: primary and secondary changes. Results: Most families under CEARAS\' care have not finished the proposed treatment. In relation to the changes detected, 53% of the families have shown primary and secondary changes; 37% have shown primary; and 10% secondary. It has been observed in the handbooks under analysis that, in relation to primary changes, the simbolization of the family functions was the most outstanding change whereas the autonomy of the family members was the least. There was no predominance of secondary changes. There has been a higher number of changes in families that did not have to change therapists. Conclusion: It is noticeable that the work is feasible and how necessary it is.The research shows that the primary and secondary changes are possible to take place by way of family therapy. The transfer in families does not happen only with the institution but also with the therapists involved in the treatment

Fanfiction”, “Spirit Fanfics e Histórias” e “Wattpad”. / Based on the assumption that societies structure the possibilities of sexual interaction between individuals, defining the series of partners and sexual practices that are acceptable, we seek by means of this study to observe, through Discourse Analysis, voices that challenge the interdiction of the incest consented from the popularization of a new literary genre, proper to societies in networks, which are fanfics (literary productions made by fans based on any cultural product). It is through historicity that one can find a whole discursive process marked by the production of meanings that condemn the incestuous, forcing him to seek other forms of meaning. We want to map the discourses that go through the narratives, trying to understand how the network itself allows the vocalization of these discourses against a normalization of sexuality, which, according to our hypothesis, produce new meanings that naturalize consented incest. The material was collected in three major storage portals and fanfics: "Nyah! Fanfiction","Spirit Fanfics and Stories" and "Wattpad".

Déjouer la transgression : du dandysme au terrorisme des images littéraires, plastiques et cinématographiques / Thwarting Transgression : from Dandyism to Terrorism : Images in Literature, Art and Film

Chantoiseau, Jean-Baptiste 19 November 2011 (has links)
Artistic portrayals of transgression in the 20th and 21st centuries often present a violent, macabre spectacle. Its intensity would appear to simultaneously attest to a "death wish" (Freud, 1920) and forge a link between eroticism and death as depicted by Georges Bataille. Thwarting such "transgression terrorism", which exhausts both the work and the spectator, is an invitation to unmask the conformism and falsification involved in such endeavours. At the opposite extreme to these approaches exist other manners of envisaging transgression in art that seek to use it as an occasion for in-depth questioning or to shatter certitudes. This "transgression dandyism" involves intensive formal work. Analysis of a vast corpus, at once literary (Wilde, Barbey d’Aurevilly, Bataille, Genet…), plastic (Blake, Cocteau…) and cinematographic, reveals an array of strategies aiming to play on, confront or transcend transgression. Only on examination of the particularities of these artistic universes do singular trajectories with antithetical goals become manifest: whereas for one creative mind the emergence of transgression occasionally presents a problem (Bresson), for another the drama resides in the impossibility of escaping it (Lynch). On closer scrutiny, the secret of aesthetics and ethics in contemporary works might be elucidated by observing the fate reserved for limits and taboos. That the central role in any authentic transgressive approach is no longer played by a hypothetical "death wish" but by incest is also tenable.

More than siblings? : A study of the incestuous relationship between Maggie and Tom in George Eliot's The Mill on the Floss

Pejcinovic, Mirza January 2009 (has links)
Because of the many similarities between the life of George Eliot and the lives of Maggie and Tom Tulliver in The Mill on The Floss, Eliot’s novel has been understood as an autobiographical novel. The aim of the essay is to, by using a psychoanalytical perspective, examine if the fictional characters could be said to be engaged in an incestuous relationship even though they do not engage in a sexual relationship. Though their relationship never becomes sexual, there are factors which could support a claim that brother and sister are engaged in an non-sexual incestuous relationship.

Clinique de l'inceste : Père-fille, enfant sacrifié / The clinic of incest : father - daughter, sacrifice children

Sourd-Pellegrin, Florence 20 December 2014 (has links)
The reality of incest reveals the frequency of these acts, committed regardless differentiation of gender, age or social status. The purpose of this thesis is divided into three parts: The first part, we give an overview on the issue of incest. This part deals with the definition of incest, its prohibition, its purpose and origin from diverse theoretical backgrounds, socio-anthropological, biological, and psychoanalytical. A second part develops clinical hypotheses through case studies: Assumption that the incestuous family will use calming strategies and the transition to incest could be one (maladaptive) of these processes. Hypothesis of maternal injunction (implicit and in a systemic approach) could lead to incest A third part is dedicated to the princeps version of the tale "Donkeyskin" (by Perrault and also Grimm) and its useful aspects as a media in group therapy for offenders.

Adolescents’ experiences of parental reactions to the disclosure of child sexual abuse

Smit, Alida Hermina 30 September 2008 (has links)
Child sexual abuse is a worldwide problem throughout the history of mankind. Under the influence of Freud in the 1890’s, an impression was established that claims of sexual abuse were the result of hysterical symptoms in women. His theory of the oedipus complex, depicted girls as fantasizing about sexual attention of their fathers. Children were blamed for their own sexual abuse. In the 1960’s, activists for children’s rights brought the plight of children to the foreground. Despite the fact that child sexual abuse is declared as a crime today, in the public opinion children are not beyond suspicion of having initiated or contributed to their own sexual abuse. Child sexual abuse ravages childhood. The effect of sexual abuse on children and their families can not be underestimated. Child sexual abuse affects the child, the parents of the child, and the support system of the child by intense feelings of guilt, anger, blame and mistrust associated with the abuse. Role confusion and transgression of interpersonal boundaries before, during, and after the sexual abuse might occur in families affected by child sexual abuse. It is indicated that the victim, parents and the family system need to undergo a healings process after the ordeal of child sexual abuse. Even though professionals agree that sexual abuse of children has an initial and a long-term negative impact on a person’s life, the cause of this harm is not always agreed on. It appears if harm to the child is caused by the incident of the sexual abuse itself, as well as through the reaction of important others to the abused child. In this study, the researcher explored through a qualitative, applied study, the experiences of adolescents’ of the parental reaction after child sexual abuse. During the literature review, the researcher found that children might hesitate to disclose their sexual abuse to adults as a result of fear. Some children fear that adults will not believe them, blame them for being abused or they fear to cause harm to the family system by the disclosure. Empirical evidence in this study added the observation that children also might not disclose their abuse to parents because they could fear possible parental anger violently expressed towards the offender after disclosure. For the respondents this might lead to the removal of the parent out of the family system, and would implicate according to them, the breaking up of the known family system. Empirical evidence in this study confirms the opinion of literature that the way in which the parental structure responds to the sexual abuse of the adolescent, may be of major importance in predicting the adolescents’ ability to come to terms with the experience. Parents not validating the incident and conjugating effect of child sexual abuse on their child, might cause re-traumatization of the child and they could have a severe negative impact on the healing process of the child. As time goes by, parents might alter their negative response to the disclosure of the abuse, but respondents in this study were not always able to accept or benefit from the changed parental reaction. / Dissertation (MSD)--University of Pretoria, 2008. / Social Work and Criminology / unrestricted

A phenomenological exploration of the mother-daughter relationships during and after father-daughter incestuous abuse of the daughter

Sen, Chandra January 1990 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to explore the nature of the relationship between mothers and their incestuously abused daughters. The research sample consisted of five adult daughters who in their childhood and/or adolescence, were abused by their biological fathers. The volunteer participants were in therapy at the time of the research interviews. The study employed a phenomenological method in order to allow the daughters to describe their experiences and perceptions of their mothers. By engaging in a dialogue with the daughters, the researcher attempted to explore the dynamics and impact of the mother-daughter relationships on the daughters. Results confirmed that these mother-daughter relationships were damaged. However, the daughters also expressed strong desires to heal their relationships with their mothers. In addition, the daughters identified important connections between their relationships with their mothers and the continued influence of this relationship on their experience of themselves in their current lives. The findings of this study have important research and therapeutic implications. The research findings strongly suggest that the relationship between daughters and their mothers in families where father-daughter incest occurs needs to be examined beyond individual family member's roles which have been the exclusive focus of existing research. Furthermore, the strong connections made by the participants of the present study between their relationships with their mothers and their sense of self, may be an important consideration in therapeutic work with this client population. / Education, Faculty of / Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education (ECPS), Department of / Graduate

A grim fairy tale : a mythopoetic discorse on taboo, trauma and anti-oppressive pedagogy

Kirkland, Kevin Harvey 05 1900 (has links)
This dissertation is a critical, performative exploration and analysis of mother-son incest as a site for educational inquiry. Particular attention is given to the sexual abuse of gay males. The text challenges and re-enacts personal and social perceptions of taboos as spaces of silence, trauma, and transformation, drawing on discourses of anti-oppressive pedagogy and narratives of healing. My views of anti-oppressive pedagogy, influenced by Freire, Kumashiro, and others, trouble taboos as personal, political, and cultural narratives. This inter/play of texts serves to acknowledge painful histories associated with incest and, on a conceptual level, to explore secrets, silences and shame around sexual abuse inbedded in cultural curriculum. Curriculum stems from currere meaning "to run," as in a course, and narrative stems from narrare meaning to make known. When both terms are juxtaposed they suggest a running from knowing. What if traumatic sexual abuse histories were placed at the center of pedagogical inquiry? Presented as a work of fiction, my dissertation is informed by an extensive literature review of motherson incest. The image of a mother as a perpetrator of sexual abuse is antithetical to mythohistoric constructions of motherhood. Literature on incest reveals that men are less often viewed as abuse victims, that gay men experience much higher histories of abuse than heterosexuals, that homosexuality and early childhood sexual abuse may be correlated, and that both homosexuality and sexual abuse remain acutely silenced topics in education. All of this generates a lifelong sequelae of problems for male survivors. Trauma necessitates a critical and creative reconsideration of educational research as a site of narrative inquiry and healing. The methodology I employed is mythopoetics presented in the form of a fairy tale within a play. Drawing on the fairy tale genre's tradition as a vehicle for imparting moral and ethical messages, the encompassing play creates a forum for dialogue and disruption of the tale. Music, art, and photographs are integrated into the text to augment the mythopoetic presentation. Mythopoetics becomes an avenue of make believe and a framework for anti-oppressive pedagogy. If education is about learning new ways of being and becoming in the world, we need to re/collect difficult subjects in order to transform lived experiences of learners. / Education, Faculty of / Graduate

The novel, Lavoura arcaica, of Raduan Nassar, is a narrative that to carry brings up the family relationship and dissensions that firstly, resemble simple in any family, but in the to pass way of the history go intensifying to get to the principal point of a tragedy. One of the bigger factors that trigger family disorder is the incest lived by the brothers Andre and Ana. It?s through oh this happening that the family union attached by the father is put to the test. The sovereign word of the father is confronted by Andre who is considerate a stranger in the breast of the family because he isn?t obtain to follow the norms established for your father, he doesn?t adapt the routine of the farm. The mother, silenced by your husband?s austerity, she?s obligated to protect your sons, principally with your love, but your maternal attitudes trigger the big Oedipal process in Andre who accuse her by the under confusion that is pressed in the family. Between love and hatred, the family survive trying to keep the appearances the are finally defeat with the revelations of the transgressions happened in the holy family ambiance. From theoretical analysis the authors who adress related topics the transgression, incest, family and love, reached the conclusion that the family of the deconstruction was a painful but unavoidable due to need of the children (representing the side left the table) to break with the model of hierarchical education and father dictator.
