REPRESENTAÇÕES DO TRABALHO DOCENTE DE PROFESSORES DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA EM FORMAÇÃO / REPRESENTATIONS OF WORKING TEACHERS OF PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE TEACHERS IN TRAINING

Lima, Wendel dos Santos 17 July 2014 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research discusses the teaching work in the perspective of Socio- Discursive Interactionism - SDI - (Bronckart, 2009) and analyzes the representations of the educational activity of graduating students of Letras at a public university in the state of RS. The theoretical framework is based on the SDI in particular in shed that discusses the work of teachers (Bronckart; MACHADO, 2004; 2009). The methodology follows the assumptions of analysis of SDI (Bronckart 1999, 2006, 2008 , AXE, 2004, 2009; AX; Bronckart, 2004, 2009) examines excerpts from a corpus whose source texts are produced by six academics, in an interview situation, ar 8th semester of the course. The analysis and discussion of results focus on the thematic content of these texts in relation to choice of course, the "desire" to be teacher, "to be a teacher" and teaching as work. The results indicate that entering graduate degree in Letras came not with the intention of becoming a teacher of Portuguese Language and / or Literature and in relation to "be a teacher", the representation that stands out most is the one that places the teacher as the agent of the teaching / learning and the representations presented as educational work process also appear quite limited.

Wagner, Alison Marcelo 27 February 2015 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Researches reveal a problem of foreign language teachers‟ profession in the Brazilians public schools. These studies generally focus on a kind of learning that is being developed by teachers without the proper knowledge of what really can influence in this kind of activity. In this way, the critics toward the teaching of foreign language that are practiced in Brazil are intense and numerous. In a certain way, it constitute a social voice present in discourse about the subject. Then, based in the principle that a larger conceptualization of work can lead us to a large capacity to became aware about what mean the teachers‟ work, I did analysis in this research about voices present in the discourse of a Spanish language teacher from Santa Maria-RS. My objective was to investigate how the teacher‟s discourse is organized according to the production‟s context and what representation about the Spanish language teacher‟s work appears from his voice. My hypothesis is the teacher‟s act in classroom should be scheduled by different materialized voices in the discourse about the teaching of Spanish, construing also a representation of its work as professor. To verify this hypothesis, I realize an analysis of transcription of oral interview with a Spanish teacher from Santa Maria that works in a public school. My review of literature is based the bases of chart analysis of social interactionism (ISD) developed by Bronckart (2009 [1999]) such as the ideas developed by ergonomics of activity and by Clinic of activity in the work‟s concept. The data‟s analysis helped me to identify that, even the teacher demand an autonomic practice in classroom, representing a dedicated and innovative, actually, his discourse materialize an work based by prescriptions and coercion from another voices that pass through it.

Transformation From Wax to Metal: A Symbolic Interactionism Study of Jewelry Casting Class

January 2014 (has links)
abstract: I conducted this qualitative research including data collection, data analysis and comparison analysis in a Casting and Jewelry Techniques course at Arizona State University for a whole semester. The purpose of this research was to explore the symbolic interactive meaning of metalworking to university students in metal courses, and if they had various learning needs to improve and enhance their metal art making by seeking their responses to the relationship between technical issues and concepts of their own artworks. The study results showed that the meanings of metalworking to students were craftsmanship, and a sense of accomplishment, and it related to their daily lives in career and presentation. Most of them focused on the degree of technical completion and forms of work rather than expressive concepts, and techniques were important in their works. I compared my findings in this study with my pilot study and James's study in a sculpture studio class, and found some similarities in teacher's philosophy and students' metalwork meanings that included career aspirations, some peer interaction, technical concerns rather than concept formation, and process as serious play or the exploration of materials. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Art 2014

Hibridismo do gênero crônica: discursividade e autoria em produções do E.F.II / Hybridism of the chronicle genre: discursive and authorship of productions on 8th grade classes, Fundamental Teaching

Irene da Silva Coelho 07 December 2009 (has links)
In a theoretical perspective which started from the presuppositions of Bakhtin (2000), Vygotsky (1996), extend as far as Bronckart (1999), Dolz and Schneuwly (2004) reports an educational experience applied to pupils of the 8th grades on fundamental teaching with the chronicle genre, considered a way that can be used to improve writing skills and also pupils criticism, in other words, to the development of discursive language ability of these pupils. For Schneuwly (2002), this apprenticeship depends on the appropriation of the writing tools and on the elements of this genre and their relations. Regarding the chronicle, aspects are identified, in the linguistic materiality of the produced texts, the tools show some of the aspects relating to the context of the production: enunciatively and organizational aspects, which concern the semantic and language discursive dimension. It was checked that chronicle genre is one of the tools that let the pupils express their own opinions, analyze the facts around them and improve their writing skills. In the pupils\' productions they were obvious: their positioning, their intentions - the actions can be carried out by the language use and the different effects of the produced sense. This paper was developed by an educational sequence that aims to point out the characteristics of the genre and makes pupils think about the different ways of genre organizing. The analysis of chronicles produced by the pupils revealed the assimilation of these characteristics and the authorship and style registration. For Bronckart, the textual genre shows us knowledge available in the intertext and they were prepared by previous or contemporary generations, on a semiotics way.

The XX century was marked by the development of theories that aimed to show alternatives to the normative paradigms in the Social Sciences esphere, especially critical in to Durkheim and Parsons postulates. In this context, emerged and progressed the interactionism, whose main analitical cathegory – the interacion – was considered the base for the vision that the social facts are pratical realizations resulted of intersubjectity process, in opposition of the determinist form of view that afirms the social facts as stable/statical. The debate whose this job pretended, in that case, aimed to present the interactionist theory like an original boarding to the classic antinomy individual versus society, considered by the conservative views in a very statical way. With this directions, this essay presents the philosophical roots that directly influenced the interacionist authors, in special the contributions of Georg Simmel, explicitated during the dissertation. The analysis of this philosophical views possibilitated the comfirmation of their influence, specially through the project and belongings notions, to the interacionist theory, beyond the clear emphasis in the relevance of intersubjective process for the social dynamics understanding. This philophical density causes the evaluation of the multiplicity of interactionist developments, presented by the authors who was profiled as such, and the conclusion of the trinominal interaction-representation-identity as the base of the theory. Equally relevant is the confirmation of the theory aplicability to microscopical boarings, like the ones realized in the Erving Goffman instigated searchs, thus like the considerations of the relation between interaction and social structure as the ones profiled by Peter Berger and Thomas Luchmann. Also complement this picture the enrichment proportionated by Herbert Blumer, Anselm Strauss and Howard Becker, who open new possibilities to the theory applications. This dissertations considers, also, based in the diversity of the theory apllications, the numberless boardings that interactionism possibilitates to important XXI century features, like the public opinion formations, the political processes and the relations between subjectivity and the modernity charactheristics, among others. The interactionism, so, is affirmed as a critical camp in the Social Sciences, whose necessity of being revisited by the Brazillian academy is explicited durign this dissertantion, comproving, in this way, the interactionism as a libertary alternative to the conservative searchs in the Social Sciences landscape.

REPRESENTAÇÕES DO TRABALHO DOCENTE: QUAL A CONSTRUÇÃO PRESENTE NO DISCURSO DO FUTURO PROFESSOR DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA? / REPRESENTATIONS OF TEACHING WORK: WHAT S THE CONSTRUCTION IN SPEECH OF THE FUTURE TEACHER OF PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE?

Spencer, Louise Cervo 17 December 2015 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This dissertation aimed to realize the construction of the relevant representations to the teaching presented by a student of degree in Letters. In order to reach this objective, we take into account the understanding that the teacher in formation is about the actions and activities involving this profession and the decision process that led him to attend a degree and following this career. Therefore, we chose to develop a longitudinal research from a qualitative analysis in order to understand the uniqueness of the individual respondent experiences. This study was under guidance of theoretical and methodological assumptions of Interacionism Sociodiscursivo (ISD) of Bronckart and Bronckart and Machado. The choice of this theory is due to the importance given by her to the study of the role of the practice of language (discursive act) in work situations, in this case specifically, the teaching work. The proposal of the ISD is to analyze (understand) the relationship between language and work (teaching). To think these relations, this work brought as a first action to conducting interviews, starting in 2011, with a new students in the same year, in Letters course of a University. Were held to total four interviews in specific moments graduation this student, namely: first semester (beginning of the course), third quarter (the period before to teaching disciplines and the internship), fifth semester (the period after to teaching disciplines and before the internship ) and eighth semester (period after the internship). From the generated text, we try to analyze them based on, first, the context of production followed the three levels proposed by ISD, namely the organization, the enunciation and semantic. The analysis allows us to answer our research questions and concluded: that social, predominant role in the texts, exercised by our interviewee was a graduate student; S13 understand that the teacher as the primary actant in teaching, establishing it as an actor, and students as an agent; that for the interviewee, the teacher's work is constituted as interpersonal, personal, sometimes impersonal and also interactional; we see that their perception of the profession is constantly accompanied by insecurity, despite having the certainty of desire to follow the teaching profession. So based on what we identified in the interviews, S13 represents the teaching as something pleasant and at the same time complex, as it requires both theoretical knowledge as knowledge of the human. Also, our interviewee understands that Obligatory curricular training becomes extremely important for teacher training as it is the time of training in which the student is connected directly to the practice, allowing reflect and reframe their actions.

Secondary music students' compositional development with computer-mediated environments in classroom communities

Kirkman, Philip January 2012 (has links)
Over the last decade digital technologies have brought significant changes to classroom music, promising support for the realisation of a musical education for all students. National curricula and exam specifications continue to embed technology more deeply. While these changes increasingly impact on music classrooms, there is a growing awareness that the presence of digital technologies may not always promote meaningful compositional development, particularly at GCSE level. A ‘musical’ curriculum seeks to promote meaningful compositional development by building upon a student’s previous musical experience and by providing practical, integrated and collaborative composing experiences. Existing empirical research demonstrates that a wide range of digital technologies are used in secondary classrooms to support students’ compositional processes. When used successfully, such technologies give rise to computer- mediated environments which promote musical composing experiences. At the same time, current models of compositional development do not adequately account for the ways in which such contextual factors mediate students’ compositional development. In response to this, the current research employs a multiple case study approach to explore the ways in which two secondary music students’ compositional development proceeds when working with digital technologies. Drawing from both symbolic interactionism and activity theory as complementary theoretical lenses, students’ own views of their developing composing process are positioned in a critical and reflexive dialogue with the researcher’s own constant analysis. Tools for data collection include a novel synchronous multiple video capture technique (SMV) developed to meet the demands of the project. The methodology draws on ethnographic techniques and the framework for analysis is based on an adapted constant comparative procedure. Set in the context of a UK secondary school the thesis explores several themes which emerge from the stories of Sam and Emily, our two student cases, and which add to current understanding of compositional development with computer-mediated environments. A theoretical model is proposed which presents the process of compositional development in terms of four connections that emerge from Sam’s and Emily’s ways of working. They are: connecting in institutional space, connecting in personalised space, connecting in emancipated space and connecting in shared space. Four developmental points are offered within these spaces: a point of enabling, a point of discovery, a point of transformation and a point of connection. Each point of development is linked to a type of development which, drawing on the literature, have been given the following titles: scaffolded development, serendipitous development, computer-mediated development and creative development. Finally, the study suggests several implications for teachers and avenues for further research relating to the nature of personalised spaces, providing varied contextual opportunities, understanding computer- mediated composing and promoting student ownership.

“They Talk the Talk but They Don’t Walk the Walk”: A Qualitative Inquiry into Police Officers’ Perceptions of Stress and Stress Management

Musca, Kristina Alessandra January 2016 (has links)
Police officers have one of the most stressful jobs in existence. However, information pertaining to stress management programs is limited, especially within a Canadian context. Furthermore, little is known about the processes through which officers construct their perceptions of stress and stress management since the literature has mainly focused on enumerating the frequency of existing stressors. The present study addresses these limitations by conducting a content analysis of 24 in-depth interviews with officers from a law enforcement agency in Ontario. By drawing on symbolic interactionism, the present study concludes that police officers gravitate toward the “me” or the socialized aspect of the self (Goffman, 1969) when constructing their perceptions of stress and stress management in order to protect their image and avoid stigmatization. Policy implications based on these findings are presented at the end of the study, along with directions for future research.

The consumer negotiation of brand meaning in online brand communities

Han, Jung-Min January 2015 (has links)
There has been much enthusiasm over the power of online brand communities (OBCs). Ensuring that OBCs achieve their potential, however, is a challenge. Adopting the view that an OBC is a social entity at its core, this study examines consumers’ perceptions of OBCs and how consumers manage the continuous tension between social-related and brand-related aspects of OBCs through brand-related and non-brand-related social practices. The researcher took a symbolic interactionist approach and qualitative data were collected using ethnography and in-depth interviews from OBC participants in South Korea. The study was divided into two phases: the exploratory phase and the main study. In the first stage the researcher inspected OBCs and focused on understanding the social context by investigating four OBCs in the fashion and digital camera categories. Evidence of an OBC as a virtual third place (VTP) in the consumer’s mind was revealed. A typology was developed and social practices were revealed and defined. In the main study the researcher developed the framework of brand meaning negotiation and revealed how consumers symbolically interact and negotiate brand meaning through social practices. The tension between social-related and the brand-related aspects during this process was illustrated. The key contributions of this research are as follows. Firstly, the study reveals that an OBC has a strong VTP quality, whereby consumers hate to leave. Second, the study extends our understanding of an OBC by categorising consumers’ different perceptions of OBCs according to their attachment to the brand, the OBC and other participants. Third, the study reveals underlying social practices within OBCs that show the characteristics of a collectivistic culture. The study also fills the research gap by examining the brand meaning negotiation process and suggesting a framework that shows how underlying practices link brand and social-related aspects of an OBC together, which was formerly a “black box”. Lastly, it demonstrates that social bonds, regardless of their importance for making an OBC thrive, can be a double-edged sword and should be balanced carefully with brand-related practice.

Geraldo Generoso Ferreira 14 December 2011 (has links)
In recent years, teaching activity has been subject of several researches in education, many works, under different approaches, seeking to identify methods and theoretical concepts that result in factors such as efficiency and quality in education. However, there are few studies that punctuate the teaching activity as work, in a discursive perspective, since over the years, the profession was socio-historically conceited in the collective imagination as a `mission, a `gift. Therefore, the difficulty and resistance of many people about conceiving it as a work, in the general term conception, ie, a human action plan. The present study aims to analyze Common Basic Contents of Second Language in the state of Minas Gerais, noting that the representations of teachers work prefigures this document. As theoretical framework, we avail ourselves from research developed by Sociodiscursive Interactionism (ISD), (Bronckart, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008) Ergonomic Activity (AMIGUES, 2002 and 2004, SAUJAT 2002 and 2004), by Clinic Activity ( 2006 CLOT, CLOT 2000 AND FAITA; FAITA, 2004) and discursive perspective of teaching as work (SOUSA-E-SILVA E FAITA 2002; MACHADO 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010; MACHADO E BRONCKART 2004; MACHADO E MATENCIO 2006; AMIGUES 2004; FILLIETAZ 2004). Methodologically, we sought to apply the procedures used by the Sociodiscrusive Interacionism about the interpretation and analysis of text Bronckart (1999/2003) and Bronckart & Machado (2004), Machado (2009).The results point to a conception of teaching profession as a mere application of technical and educational content developed by others and that is established passively in the classroom. Similarly, teacher profession is relegated to a second, overshadowed by artifacts, methodologies and teaching resources which are considered the main actants in this interactional context. The study also points to the need for reflection about prescriptive texts on educational field and their representations.
