The repertoire defined to theoretically support this research is based on complexity (Morin, 2007, 2008; Morin; Le Moigne, 2000), which assumes the non-fragmented, non-reducionist, non-linear, dialogic, recursive and hologramatic traits of human relations and experiences which are interconnected and integrated with an alive, dynamic and systemic reality. This study is also carried out and articulated with identity and identity construction concepts on their linguistic and emocional aspects (Norton, ;. 1997; Revuz, 1998/2006; Duff; Uchida, 1997; Hall, 2003; Moita Lopes; Bastos, " 2010; Pennycook, 2006, 2011; Rajagopalan, 2003, 2004, 2006; Signorini, 1998, 1998a, 2006; Pavlenko, 2002). Metodologically, the show is organized based on the hermeneutic-phenomenological approach (van Manen, 1990; F eire, 1998, 2010, 2012, 2012a), a qualitative methodological orientation which focuses on describing and interpreting phenomena of human experience: ilfl order to investigate their essence and which may establish an interesting dialogue with the principies of complexity. The research participants were three teachers: twa of them were English teachers (although one of them gave up the study before concluding the investigation), and one French teacher. To achieve its objectives, the curriculum vitae, narratives and the hermeneutic conversations were used as instruments for gathering texts. The nature of the collected material enabled itto be refined and reframed until hermeneutic-phenomenological themes were found: search, immersion, be/onging and self-know/edge which are related to dreqm, improvement, opportunity, credibility, fluency, findings, necessity, adaptapil!ty, readaptability and autonomy - which are also described and interpreted in this study as subthemes / This reasearch aims to present the performance of investigation of the phenomenon the identíty construction of foreign /anguage teachers from their studying experience abroad, in order to offer a knowledge base which may contribute to a deeper understanding of how foreign language teachers construct their identity and how they deal with identity features, which can be important both for the formation of future teachers, as for the preparation of new exchange students, which are issues of social relevance. Arsenic removal using biosorption with Chitosan : Evaluating the extraction and adsorption performance of Chitosan from shrimp shell waste

Westergren, Robin January 2006 (has links)

Nicaragua is a country in which the toxic metal contamination of freshwater resources has become an increasingly important problem in certain regions posing a threat to the environment as well as to human health. Among the metals found in the waters of Nicaragua, arsenic is one of the most problematic since its long time consumption is connected to serious health problems such as cancer and neurological disorders. The arsenic contamination of water recourses in Nicaragua is mostly attributable natural factors, even though anthropogenic activities including gold mining may be a contributing factor.

In this work the biopolymer Chitosan was studied as a potential adsorption material for the removal of arsenic from aqueous solutions for water treatment design purposes.

The Chitosan used in this study was extracted from shrimp shells with an overall yield of 40% and a deacetylation grade of 59%. The maximum adsorption capacity was determined to 20.9 mg As/g at a controlled pH of 5.5 using the Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption was found to be strongly pH dependant with a fourfold increase in adsorption capacity when pH was well under the pKa of Chitosan. The pH dependence indicates that ionic exchange was the most important mechanism. No difference in adsorption capacity with respect to the initial pH of the solution was detected in the pH range 3-7. This was attributed to the ability of Chitosan to act as a weak base in water solutions.

The arsenic was desorbed from Chitosan using NaOH, (NH4) 2SO 4 and NaCl, with a 1M NaOH solution being the most efficient displaying a concentration ratio of 1.08. The NaOH and (NH4) 2SO 4 solutions displayed a steep desorption curvature with a large fraction of the arsenic being easily desorbed. The arsenic was, however, not completely desorbed from the Chitosan implying that the adsorption capacity would decrease for the coming cycles. Being a biopolymer the Chitosan is quite easily degraded in acid and alkali solutions, which might be a limiting step for the process applicability.

[en] THE USE OF MEASURES OF EXTENT AND INTENSITY IN THE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN OF THE BRAZILIAN PHRAMACEUTICAL SECTOR / [pt] O USO DE MEDIDAS DE EXTENSÃO E INTENSIDADE NO INTERCÂMBIO DE INFORMAÇÕES NA CADEIA DE SUPRIMENTOS DO SETOR FARMACÊUTICO BRASILEIRO

ALEXANDRE ORTIZ 19 March 2004 (has links)
[en] The aim of this report was to study the reciprocal exchange of information within the whole supply chain in the structure of the Brazilian pharmaceutical business environment. The first step was to search previous studies in the literature, that could describe all the framework of the logistics processes and whether information played a significant role in them. In this report, the supply chain management concepts were studied, including relationships between its members and several aspects of performance measurements proposed by scholars. Performance indicators which deal with both parties, suppliers and customers, are not common. As an alternative, this report has chosen a generic measure called DSCC (Degree of supply chain coupling) which calculates how information flows throughout the supply chain. A check list has been applied to two important pharmaceutical companies. The aswers obtained not only reveal how these companies interact in both directions of the supply chain but also suggest other future studies about logistics processes in the Brazilian phamaceutical sector.

Aguiar Masuelli, Guadalupe 13 July 2012 (has links)
Aguiar Masuelli, G. (2012).
