Behandling av män som brukar våld mot kvinnor i nära relationer : Behandlingsmodeller, utvärderingsresultat och teoretiska perspektiv / Treatment for men who are violent against women in intimate relationships : Treatment programs, evaluations and theoretical perspectives

Fallbråten, Hanna, Thörnell, Mari January 2006 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to study and describe treatment programs for men who are violent against women in intimate relationships. This purpose can be divided into following questions: (i) what treatment programs are to be found in the literature concerning men who are violent against women in intimate relationships and how can they be described, (ii) what similarities and differences are there between different treatment programs, (iii) what are the results of treatment and evaluations documented concerning the treatment programs effect and (iv) how can the results of the study be analysed from the theoretical perspectives concerning men’s violence against women? As a point of departure of the analysis, three theoretical perspectives relating to men’s violence against women has been used. They are constituted by a structural/feminist perspective, an individual psychological perspective and a social psychological perspective, that explains the violences of men against women on various abstraction levels and with separate theoretical views. The method has been conducted as a literature review with a qualitative approach, because of the intention of the study to describe and put together knowledge about existing treatment programs for men who are using violence against women in intimate relationships. Three treatment programs were found to be the most occurring in the collected literature, hence these treatment programs; Emerge, the Duluth Model; DAIP, and Change, together with evaluations of these programs, were included in the result. The study’s result shows that all of these three treatment programs use profeminist theories as a point of departure concerning definitions and explanations of the violences of men against women. Further, similar treatment methods have been found to occur in all of the three programs; such as touches of cognitive behavioural therapy, educational methods and group sessions in the treatment. What separates the programs is that they in varying degrees emphasises keeping in contact with the partners of the violent men, and that two of them; the Duluth Model and Change, are including work with different official institutions in the treatment, as the Emerge program does not. Further, Change has a more outspoken CBT-related approach, which the other two programs have not. The analysis reveals that the treatment programs, in spite of their profeminist theoretical view, seem to be rather eclectic concerning the concrete treatment methods that are used. Emerge, the Duluth Model and Change has been evaluated to varying degrees. The existing evaluations have shown generally moderate results concerning the effect of the treatment. Besides of the mentioned programs further evaluations of other treatment programs have been included in the result, which have reached varied; but in sum, moderate results.

Perspectives on Quality in Minority Education in China: The Case of Sunan Yughur Autonomous County, Gansu

Bahry, Stephen 24 February 2010 (has links)
This exploratory multiple embedded case study investigates perspectives on education reform under conditions of minority language endangerment in Sunan Yughur Autonomous County, a minority-district in northwest China. The study included three school sites: a Yughur minority urban school; a Yughur minority rural district school, and a Yughur majority rural district school and four embedded cases: school administrators, teachers, parents and students, of Yughur, other minority, or Han nationality. Adult stakeholders were interviewed on what is important to learn in “education for quality”, and what aspects of Yughur knowledge, culture and language should be included in school curriculum as part of education for quality, while students were asked what they enjoyed studying and whether they would enjoy learning stories, poems and songs in Yughur in school. Findings include strong support among parents and students regardless of ethnicity or school site for Yughur language and culture as “essential qualities” to foster in Sunan County school curriculum, with moderate to weak support among educators ranges with some variation among sites. Three parallel visions emerge from the study of what it means today for Chinese minority student to be an educated person in contemporary China: (a) regular Chinese-medium education; (b) multicultural Chinese-medium education; and (c) maintenance bilingual education in Yughur and Chinese. The third vision envisions developing additive bilinguals who know the heritage of their minority as well as the national curriculum in Mandarin. A vision of balanced bilingualism and multiculturalism that sees heritage languages and Mandarin as “resources” is shared by the large majority of parents and students, most teachers and some administrators. Holders of other visions for local minority education largely share a “Language as Problem” orientation towards minority languages. One aim of devolution of school-based curriculum authority is to develop schools’ individuality. This study reveals three divergent models of local schooling that have developed in one minority school district: one that centres on a monolingual model of national culture, one monolingual, multicultural model, and one bilingual, multicultural model, with the latter model corresponding more closely to minority stakeholder perspectives that schools should play a stronger role in the maintenance and revitalization of their cultural and linguistic heritage.

Characterization of the feedback between the instructor and student teams engaged in a virtual bioreactor laboratory project

Whinnery, Jaynie L. 06 December 2012 (has links)
This thesis characterizes the feedback between the instructor and student teams engaged in a Virtual Bioreactor (VBioR) Laboratory Project. The project allows senior-level chemical, biological, and environmental engineering students to apply their developing knowledge and skills in an industrially situated process optimization project. Feedback is an important tool for instructors to use to scaffold student learning, especially in the context of an ill-structured project. An ethnographic approach is taken for data collection; audio recordings and field notes are taken throughout the duration of the project. The characterization of feedback uses an episodes framework for discourse analysis to consider similarities and differences. Using this framework, thematic codes have been developed through a semi-emergent process to describe the content of Design Memo Meetings (DMMs) between an instructor and student teams. Student work products, post-DMM surveys, and post-project interviews are also considered as data sources for this research. The results of this research show that instructor feedback in this project is adaptable, conforming to the status of the student team at the beginning of the DMM. This adaptability is highlighted by differences in DMM themes that are supported by differences in the Design Strategy Memos that student teams bring to the meeting. Student perceptions of the DMM feedback are also presented. / Graduation date: 2013

Hasselbom Trofast, Anna, Granström, Linda January 2008 (has links)
Our aim with this essay is to examine if social work in the care of elderly tends to be salutogenetic or patogenetic oriented. A salutogenetic oriented activity means that the social workers focuses on the elderly peoples individual possibilities, and collaborate with the receiver of care in order to offer him or her aid and resources for meaningful living conditions. A patogenetic oriented activity on the other hand means that the social workers focuses on the elderly peoples most primary needs, their illnesses and to introduce adequate treatment. We also examine if social workers in the care of elderly tend to prefer male or female characteristic features in the receivers of care. Finally we wanted to find out if there were any gender distinctions, if the appraisal of aid were more affected by a male or female receiver of care. We also considered that gender might not have any affect on their appraisal at all. Our theoretical framework is mainly based on three already existing theories. These gave us a general list of salutogenetic/patogenetic statements and typical male/female characteristic features. Because of time shortage the material includes only one empirical method, which is a questionnaire to the employees in the care of the elderly. The method of analysis is mostly quantitative, but since the questionnaire also contained some opened questions, our study is partly qualitative. A total of 101 persons participated in our questionnaire poll. The results of our study brought about unexpected results. To our surprise, the social workers in the care of elderly tend to prefer male characteristic features in the receivers of care. We also found that what requires of a good apraisal of aid is a salutogenetic perspective, but that the social workers thought it was difficult to apply in practice.

Cheng, Chung-hsing Unknown Date (has links)
Generally speaking the development of the creative products should not only give consideration to the novelty, efficiency and face higher uncertainty, shorter life cycle. Like the industry design, it is one kind of development way, while needing to produce the products and make a variation constantly, and also it is need to keep develop speed and products style. Because the production of the creative products has uncertain characteristics, that relation between the input and output is no longer simple linear relations, but very complicated multiple relations. Products developmental research in the past, not mostly considering the uncertain problem, some studies may consider the uncertain problem, but there is not discussion which gives consideration to the novel request, some studies may puts emphasis on the importance of experience even more, but they seldom put the previous experience into the mechanism of management. Because the development characteristic of the creative products, is different from the product development of the production line type, if with the general management type will be unable to completely keep the particularity, and under the circumstances that the industry design, more and more to the importance of enterprises, it need to manage effectively in design activity. As stated above, this research is mainly to regard the evolutionary view as the theoretical foundation, through the discussion of the evolutionary factors, and the mechanism of creative generation (variation), the mechanism of evaluation (selection), and the structure and stock of common knowledge (retention), in order to explain the creative management of variation, selection and retention in creative industry, and the influence of the performance on the creative products in these factors. To put it shortly, Development process of the creative products, it is a creative element that is influenced by the factor of evolution, and change the outcome of the product effect and developing speed. And the manager's role is to enhance the probability that evolutionary process will generate organizational survival and prosperity. This research carries on the questionnaire and makes investigations to design company as the research object at Taiwan. Find from the result, at first, the purpose of the parallel project (horizontal variation) and the team exchange (vertical variation) in the mechanism of creative management, the former expands the pool of idea by joining the plural individual; The latter offers more opportunities that the idea collides by way of team exchange, in order to expand the pool of idea. And can know by statistical analysis, the two both contribute to expanding the pool of idea, and then improve the probability of design achievement that the output accords with the quality request. Secondly, in the evaluation mechanism, the screening of frequently checking and multiple evaluation criterion in the design process, that promote the suitable creative to appear with higher speed, but its relation between each other is not the simple linear relations, but the inverted-U relation. Moreover, when the categorical degree of common knowledge is higher, can promote the expansion of the idea in the mechanism of creative generation, and knowledge is the higher in stock, can promote the influence of the mechanism of evaluation on developing speed. The Contribution of this research, is supplement to study on new product development, which lack the problem of dealing with fuzzy front, study with creativity and innovation, fill the gap which lacks the effective mechanism of management under study creativity and innovation, to the research that the intra-organization evolutionary perspectives, have offered effective quantity studied, offered the preliminary answer to the creative management in design industries.

Vielfalt bringt Erfolg / With Diversity to Success. Professional Perspectives für Humanities and Social Scientists

Genz, Christian, Fischer, Anna 26 October 2010 (has links) (PDF)

A Multi-Perspective Exploration of a Cross-Age Tutoring Initiative: An Analysis of the Responses of All Students

Gillies, Ann Elizabeth 01 January 2012 (has links)
This exploratory study assessed the effectiveness of a cross-age tutoring intervention on adaptive behavior goals of three PreKindergarten/Kindergarten-aged students with labels of autism spectrum disorder. Data were collected in an inclusive environment; the school library. Three fourth grade general education cross-age tutors were trained to use a simple, naturalistic least-to-most prompting strategy to support the young students with individualized adaptive behavior goals while in the library. A mixed method design was utilized in this study; a quantitative single case multiple baseline across participants design to show performance outcomes of the young students as a result of the tutoring intervention, and a constant comparison analysis of qualitative data gathered from observations of students, students' written work, and a research journal. Quantitative results indicated all three young students performed the target behavior in the library with support from their cross-age tutors and this behavior maintained one month after intervention ended as evident through a maintenance probe; all three students made progress on the achievement of adaptive behavior goals in an inclusive environment from this intervention. Qualitative results indicated the cross-age tutoring experience was positive and powerful for all six participants involved as evident through the construction of six themes that emerged from the qualitative data.

Lyckad musikteoriundervisning : Elevperspektiv på lyckad undervisning i musikteori / Successful teaching in music theory : Pupils' perspectives on successful teaching in music theory

Gustafsson, Christoffer January 2015 (has links)
Successful teaching in music theory – Pupils' perspectives on successful teaching in music theory. This paper aims to investigate pupils' views on teaching in music theory. What factors do pupils think are most important for a successful teaching situation? I want to get a picture of what pupils consider most important in a subject that many pupils, according to me, have a hard time with. The method of this paper is a quantitative survey answered by a small group of pupils at one Swedish upper secondary school in a smaller municipality. The survey present different factors related to teaching that pupils had to rank. These factors are constructed from a definition of successful teaching based on existing research on the field. The results show that pupils value the teacher and teacher qualities as most important for successful teaching. It also indicates that teachers enthusiasm and their ability to communicate and develop the teaching situation are considered important. Factors that involves applying the knowledge in a practical way are not considered as important as factors related to the teacher.

Sundberg, Ann-Kari January 2009 (has links)
The overall aim of the present study is to investigate how teachers deal with linguistic and cultural otherness in the French foreign language classroom at upper secondary school level in Sweden. The foreign language classroom is seen as a cultural meeting place where images of otherness are natural elements. In this respect, otherness should be regarded as one cultural aspect among others implying human as well as language phenomena. Analyzing the way in which the teachers in the study mediate this otherness to their students is expected to contribute to the pedagogical debate on intercultural understanding in language teaching and learning.   The study is based on empirical data consisting of video recorded observations in three different classrooms. One class (class A) is treated as primary data where two activities are especially focused, namely working with texts and working with grammar. The verbal interaction from these activities has been transcribed and analyzed qualitatively. The first step of analysis concerns the learning aims which are transmitted to the students in the teacher’s introduction to the two activities. The second step deals with the teacher’s procedures to involve the students in the construction of knowledge which focuses on linguistic and cultural otherness. Finally, a comparative perspective is adopted. On the one hand, the two different activities are compared with each other, while on the other hand, the findings from class A are compared with class B and C. From a dialogical point of view, the way in which the classroom setting and the teachers’ acting can favour intercultural understanding is discussed. The results of the analyses highlight the fact that teachers seem to pay more attention to linguistic otherness than to cultural otherness. Furthermore, the study shows that the foreign language classroom has a dialogical potential when it comes to human relations and discourse. More attention could be paid to these aspects of teaching in order to pave the way for better intercultural understanding. The teachers in the present study seem to favour dialogical relationships in the classroom and neglect discursive issues in the situation. Our conclusion is that the way in which teachers deal with otherness is tradition-bound. Texts, for instance, even those with an obvious intercultural content, are treated as pre-texts for studying linguistic phenomena. Cultural phenomena, when dealt with, are limited to a product paradigm and are transmitted without reflection and with no apparent awareness of any intercultural understanding.
