Mechanisms for stakeholder analysis and engagement in mobility management projects : A case study of Sustainable Travel in Umeå Region, Sweden

Prodan, Diana Mihaela, Vega Fanjul, Eduardo January 2012 (has links)
The current study investigates the mechanisms employed for analyzing and engaging stakeholders through the planning and implementation phases of the mobility management project Sustainable Travel in Umeå Region (Sweden). In alignment with researchers' epistemological and ontological assumptions, an abductive approach and the case study strategy were selected. The qualitative data collected through conducting interviews with the five project team members and through examining project's documentation were analyzed using the pattern matching technique and leading to the findings presented in detail in Chapter 4 and discussed in Chapter 5. The core finding of the study is a model of the use of mechanisms through the planning and implementation phases of a MM project. The planning phase of the project coincides with the stakeholders' analysis process, thus identifying, classifying, characterizing and a very complex process of designing the engagement strategy for citizens, which includes also deciding and starting implementing the strategy for organizations. The correspondent analysis and engagement mechanisms, developed by the project stakeholders‟ scholars for each of these stages, are mostly unwittingly used by the project team. Once the engagement strategy for citizens is decided, the implementation phase is initiated. The implementation phase is characterized by a blend between MM mechanisms and classic stakeholders' engagement mechanisms, which are constantly reassessed through project's lifecycle. In addition, the main challenges emerged in the process of stakeholders' engagement in this project are discussed, concluding that the lack of alignment between some of the regulations coming from the national and supranational level and the project's aim, combined with communication issues and the unwillingness of the targeted organization to interfere in the personal lives of their employees, are the elements that most endanger the success of the stakeholders' engagement process and implicitly of the MM project.

An empirical study of Agile planning critical success factors

Liu, Di, Zhai, Zhichao January 2017 (has links)
Context. With the popularity of Agile methods, many studies about Agile software development has been done by researchers. Among the phases in Agile software projects, planning is critical because it provides an overview of the project and a guiding of future work. In addition, success factors are also mandatory to the success of Agile software development. The current literature focus on the success factors during the whole lifecycle rather than planning phase, and they don’t make an in-depth analysis on the factors. In this thesis, we perform an empirical study to deeply study the critical success factors at agile planning phase. Objectives. The main aim of our research is to identify the critical success factors at Agile planning phase and challenges associated with each factor. We list four objectives to support our main aim. First is to investigate the factors that are mandatory to the success of Agile software development at planning phase. Second is to investigate the challenges associated with each factor. Third is to find out the ways to address these challenges. The last is to identify the consequence of not ensuring these factors. Methods. We employed two research methods: systematic mapping and survey. Systematic mapping is used to identify the critical success factors of entire lifecycle in current literature. To find critical success factors at agile planning phase and make in-depth analysis, we conducted a survey based on an online questionnaire. The online questionnaire was consisted of open-ended questions and was sent to respondents who have experience on Agile development. Results. Through systematic mapping, we identified 13 papers and 47 critical success factors for Agile software development. We also made a frequency analysis for these factors and they will be the effective evidence to support the results of survey. Through the survey, we identified 13 critical success factors at agile planning and made an in-depth analysis for these 13 factors. These 13 factors are divided into two categories: people factor (individual-level, team-level) and process factor. Through the contrastive analysis of mapping results and survey results, we found that 7 factors of survey results are same or similar with some factors shown in mapping. The other 6 factors of survey are first shown. Conclusions. The factors proposed in this thesis are proved that they are important to the success of the project at planning phase. Failure to consider these critical success factors may lead to inefficient planning and even result in the failure ofthe whole project. The challenges and corresponding solutions can help organizations well manage these critical success factors. In conclusion, these detailed descriptions of critical success factors can be used as a guideline to help people increase the chance of successfully developing software with high quality and low cost in practice.

Erfarenhetsåterföringens påverkan inom projekteringsfasen i byggbranschen / The influence of experience feedback within the planning phase in construction industry

Tahirsylaj, Blendi, Bihorac, Anel January 2023 (has links)
The thesis has explored the role of experience feedback in one of Sweden's largest construction companies, which has chosen to remain anonymous. The study's focus was primarily on the management of experience to improve planning phase and organizational performance. The goal was to identify and analyze existing methods, challenges and potential for improvement, based on both literature studies and interviews with case companies. The survey was based on a literature survey, which highlighted the importance of learning from previous projects as a way to improve future projects. The theory emphasized that the feedback of experience is crucial for correcting errors and improving actions through knowledge. The thesis also examines the methods of an effective experience feedback system, including identification, documentation, analysis, storage and reuse of experiences. To increase understanding, the interviews were conducted within the case company to clarify the application of experience feedback. The study revealed that while there are processes in place to capture and use experience, challenges remain. Specifically, the company struggles with the limited effectiveness of some parts of the experience feedback. Furthermore, there were also obstacles to the optimal utilization of the experience feedback system. The reason was the perceived complexity of the system and lack of training within the case company. The company also demonstrates good practices, such as the use of an improvement program and technical consultations after each completed project. Based on these results, an improved feedback methodology was proposed that incorporates the theory's five-step approach and addresses the challenges identified. This includes designing a more user-friendly experience feedback system, providing appropriate training to employees on how to use these systems, and improving the agility of the system. The study demonstrates the potential of effectively managed feedback to improve construction industry performance. By embracing current challenges and leveraging the benefits of systematic experience, construction companies can foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, leading to improved project outcomes and customer satisfaction.

A study on Learner Motivation by means of Learner Autonomy as Studying Technique in Modern Language Learning

Gehrke, Karina Wiebke January 2022 (has links)
