: En kvalitativ intervjustudie / High school teachers’ experience of teaching and working remotely during the coronavirus pandemic. : A Qualitative interview study.Carlsson, Malin January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate how high school teachers have experienced the social and psychological aspects of distance work and distance education, since the rapid adjustment to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. A qualitative method has been applied and data collection has been done through semi-structured interviews. Five respondents participated in the study, four women and one man. The participants were selected through a convenience selection with elements of snowball selection. The interviews have been transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. Through the thematic analysis, three different themes emerged which were: the digital teaching, the positive and negative aspects of homework and the importance of social support. The results show that the respondents have experienced it as challenging to teach at a distance, as the structure has had to change. But the hardest part has been the lost social interaction with the students, which has also made the quality of teaching perceived as worse. The respondents are more productive at home but are much worse at taking breaks that usually come naturally in the workplace, thus they become more sedentary. Social support has been of great importance to all parties and a reason why distance work and distance education have worked so well.

Olsson, Anja, Wennberg, Stina January 2020 (has links)

Music therapy for second language English-speaking learners in an english-medium school : a case studyJerling, P.A. (Petra Adriana) January 2013 (has links)
In many South African schools where English is used as the language of instruction learners with a different mother tongue are accepted, yet they may experience many challenges. In this research study I investigated whether group music therapy sessions can have a positive impact on such learners in relation to particularly two of these difficulties. The first difficulty is social interaction and integration. The second difficulty is their negative attitude towards English, the school and their school work. This difficulty develops because of their weak competency in the language.
The paradigm in which this study falls is interpretive and a qualitative approach was used. A case study design was utilised. Ten music therapy sessions were offered to a group of nine grade eight boys from three different linguistic backgrounds: three English home language speakers, three Portuguese home language speakers and three siSwati home language speakers.
Music therapy offers a non-threatening environment in which group members can creatively interact. I made use of an array of techniques including improvisation, movement, song writing and musical games where group members had opportunities to express themselves in an unconventional way.
Three different sources of naturally-occurring data were used. Questionnaires were filled in by all participants before the commencement of the sessions, five video excerpts were selected from the music therapy group sessions and a focus group was held with all participants after the last session. Data was analysed according to Ansdell and Pavlicevic’s (2001) qualitative content analysis. Responses from the questionnaires and focus group and thick descriptions from the selected video excerpts were coded and categorised according to Gibb’s (2007) proposed technique of open coding.
Results generated from the analysed data indicated that, through the opportunities afforded to the group in music therapy sessions, social interaction was experienced in a novel way and integration was enhanced. Findings also indicated that, through this unique way of interacting, the attitude of some members towards English improved.
There were also indications that improvement was not across the board and individuals reacted differently to the process. A much longer process could hold far more convincing results. / Dissertation (MMus)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / lmchunu2014 / Music / unrestricted

When recruiting new staff, the job interview is the most central and most common selection method, which has traditionally taken place face-to-face with the employer. Video interviews are something that has become more common in recruitment processes as a result of technological development and digitalization but also based on the organization's financial and time rationalization. Previous research in the field indicates that video interviews modify parts of the interaction, and points out that there is a need for further research. The purpose of the study is to investigate how job interviews in video format are experienced by recruiters in terms of social interaction, and what implications there are in assessing the candidate. The results of the study are based on six qualitative interviews with recruiters, where collected data have been analyzed from a social psychological perspective. The results indicate that there is a perceived difference in certain parts of the interaction. Particularly the non-verbal communication and small talk are limited, but the flow and timing are also more difficult in video interviews. The study also shows that the biggest advantage is considered to be that the format is time-saving and provides increased flexibility and the biggest disadvantage is difficulties in connecting with the candidate, which impairs the overall experience. Finally, it emerged that the recruiters consider themselves to have good opportunities to assess candidates in video interviews, but that the data collected indicates an experience of both positive and negative aspects.

The purpose of this study is to unveil how inclusion in contrast to exclusion, between children, is being exercised during unrestricted play. Furthermore, the study intends to highlight how educators discern how children are given equal opportunities regarding influence and participation during unrestricted play. The following questions arise as a resultant: How can we recognize the appearance of relationships among the children during unrestricted play? How do the educators acknowledge that the children have an opportunity to influence and participation in the unrestricted play? The theoretical assumption used in this essay is based on the sociocultural perspective and sociologist William Corsaro’s theory about peer culture. As a basis for the survey method, we have interviewed five educators that consisted of preschool teachers and caretakers. The observations were made by studying both the young and older children’s section which in turn provided a wide scope of data. In summary, the result from this study demonstrates that both inclusion and exclusion are present during children’s unrestricted play simply since these phenomena coexist and are dependent on each other. In addition, relationships among children surface during social interaction based on the children’s various peer affiliations created within particular peer culture. These relationships vary based on aspects like age and language. In conclusion, the opportunity for children to have influence during unrestricted play presents itself during negotiations of different roles and can also be seen through their actions during this type of play.
