Sundström, Malin, Jansson, Hanna January 2013 (has links)

Robovic, Admir, Bartolini, Simon January 2013 (has links)

The image of librarians and the librarian profession : A discourse analytic study of how users talk about librarians and the librarian profession

Storm, Madeleine January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to study through discourse analysis how users talk about librarians and the librarian profession and what perceptions they have regarding it. I have tried to do this by asking the questions: How do the users describe librarians and the librarian profession? Are there any patterns in what they say? The method and theory I have used is Laclau and Mouffes’ discourse theory and partially structured interviews. The material consists of interviews with eight users that are both women and men, both students and members of the public and they were between 25 and 50 years old. In the material I found two discourses: the discourse about librarians and the discourse about the librarian profession. I have come to the conclusion that images exists of librarians being older women who are caring and forthcoming but also inaccessible. The image of the librarians also includes them working with books in different ways and that they read and know a lot about literature. When the users have talked about the librarians’ knowledge they have described that librarians have different knowledge based on what they work with. Some librarians work with inter library loans and therefore have more knowledge about that.

Hantverket bakom intervjun : Studenters framställning av kvalitativa intervjuer som undersökningsmetod / The craft behind the interview : students’ representations of qualitative interviews as research method

Sehlin, Fredrik January 2013 (has links)
When producing an interview report the researcher is put to the test of describing the qualitative interview method in terms of assumed orderly steps and procedures taken during the interview process, while at the same time account for a very social dynamic process. In practice, even the most carefully prepared scenario for a qualitative interview study probably does not correspond to the expectations made. What happens between the plans and the actual interview itself? This issue is investigated by contrasting the actual engagement of the participants in an interview project to how these relationships are accounted for in Master thesis from the Swedish School of Library- and Information Science in Borås. Theory and methodology from Actor Network Theory (ANT) have been applied into the area of qualitative interviews. Three theses have been analyzed highlighting accounts of the crucial first contact, where the study is presented to the interviewees, and interactions with individual and collective actors. It is suggested that qualitative interview, by nature, is a method that one learns from practice, by experience or by the study of how experienced practitioners work. It is also suggested that students can learn from one another by discussing interview practices in there theses. / Program: Informationsspecialist

Modin, Elin January 2020 (has links)
Abstract Elin Modin, Working with health preventive behavior change – experiences from shift workers. Master thesis in Occupational health science, 30 credits, University of Gävle. Background: Shift work can involve an irregularity in the daily rhythm. Earlier studies has shown impact on sleep, social life and cardiovascular diseases. Few studies has been focusing on employees in shift work and more research is needed to provide these employees with the conditions for a healthy working life. Aim: To explore how the employees in shift work experienced working with a health preventive behavioural change intervention.  Method: Nine employees working in an administrative authority in Sweden was interviewed using semi structured interviews. Data analysis followed the steps of content analysis.  Result: The intervention has given the participants a regularity that is perceived to have a positive impact on the change in behavior. Colleagues' support and feedback have been an important part of the work. There is a need to maintain the integrity and autonomy of the participants. Conclusion: Regularity, support and feedback from colleagues has been experienced as positive for the behavior change. The need for autonomy and integrity has been shown important.   Keywords: shift work, behavioural change, support, semi-structured interviews

”DEMOKRATI ÄR INGEN SÅN DÄR PLUTTGREJ” : En intervjustudie om samhällskunskapslärares förhållningssätt till sociala medier i undervisningen / Social studies teachers approach on social media in teaching about democracy

Olsson, Maja January 2023 (has links)
The aim for this study is to shed light on social studies teachers approach to the school´s democratic mission and its conditions in today´s society with social media as a new political arena. The teachers approach towards social media in social studies teaching is investigated using semi-structured interviews and a thematic analysis. The empirical material consists of six interviews which are analyzed using the theory of the democratic ideal models and the didactic triangle. The conclusion from the analysis is that the respondents use social media sparingly in social studies teaching because the teachers consider themselves to have limited knowledge of the subject in comparison to the students. It also appears that there is a gap between the students’ understanding of the reality that takes place via social media and the traditional way of teaching about the outside world.

Söderström, Marcus January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to examine how vegetarians and vegans ascribe meaning to the process of changing from a meat-based to a plant-based diet. Using Brenda Dervin's sense-making methodology, I look into the complex and dynamic ways vegetarians and vegans experience their worlds. In contrast tomuch of mainstream research which regard vegetarians and vegans as static, the paper tries to answer the following questions: How can you understand vegetarians and vegans from the sense-making term”verbings? That is, how do vegetarians and vegans make and un-make sense during their changing process? What kind of contexts in form of inner and outer effect is and has been important in their making and un-making of sense? How do my interviewees in this particular moment in time and space seethemselves and their changing process in relation to the rest of society? The results presented are based on six semi-structured interviews influenced by sense-making's life-line method. Four interviews were conducted with vegetarians and two with vegans. Their age ranges from twenty to thirty two, and the amount of time they have been vegetarian or vegan range between eight months to eleven years. As shown in other studies, vegetarians and vegans are phenomenons that are more complex than mainstream research gives them credit for. My findings support this claim in concluding that my respondents use adiverse set of both internal and external hows to make sense of their vegetarianism and veganism. Forexample, internal in form of emotions and external in form of facts. Furthermore, my results may help to broaden our understanding of lifestyle changes beyond dietary, like going from a sedentary to an active life.

Petersson, Oscar January 2024 (has links)
The present study investigates how teacher candidates in social studies describe their perceived self-efficacy to teach the subject of economics at Secondary School level. The study also explores what economic concepts the teacher candidates perceived as particularly significant during their university education and intend to teach to future students. To address the study's purpose and research questions, Bandura's (1997) theoretical concept of perceived self-efficacy and Meyer & Land's (2003) term threshold concepts serve as the theoretical framework. In total, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with different teacher candidates, all of whom participated in the teacher education course in economics worth 15 credits at Linnaeus University in Växjö. Their statements were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The main conclusions of the study are that half of the teacher candidates described a low perceived self-efficacy to teach economics, while the other half described a high perceived self-efficacy. The differences can primarily be explained by whether the teacher candidates had taught economics during their internship (VFU) or not. The high proportion of teacher candidates with low perceived self-efficacy aligns with previous research findings and poses a risk of this knowledge area being neglected in future teaching careers. Regarding economic concepts, the concepts of supply and demand, inflation, GDP, and the economic cycle emerge as particularly significant for the teacher candidates. The results also indicate that teacher candidates perceive economics as concept-heavy and abstract. The uncertainty among teacher candidates regarding the subject of economics can be seen as a democratic problem, and increasing confidence requires further research in this area.

Thorsén, Sanna January 2010 (has links)
<p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p><p>Standardized assessment instruments have increasingly come to be used in social work. Although national studies of ASI and DOK's reliability and validity has only been examined to a limited extent. In order to improve knowledge of assessment instruments conditions, relevance and scope, this present literature study highlights the background and the application of the interview methods ASI and DOK, used in swedish abuse and dependent care. In answering the survey questions, a qualitative content analytical method has been used. ASI and DOK are multidimensional interviews which take into account that several areas affecting the client's treatment outcome. Assessment instruments differ in respect of use, approach to the assessment of client needs and help troubled, the basis for the interview estimates and its rating scales. International research shows that the ASI and DOK include a number of methodological problems that affect the reliability and validity in self-reported data. Assessment instruments different question areas, however, lacks a theoretical framework that allows any assumptions about the causal relationships between key areas of life and substance abuse problems. In accordance with a social constructionism perspective, ASI and DOK's usability are time and culture bound and must therefore be seen as methods that are in a constant process of change to generate as reliable knowledge as possible.</p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong>assessment instrument, social work, Addiction Severity Index, ASI, documentation system, DOC, structured interviews, addiction, substance abuse.</p>
