Além do Rio, a Gota D\'Água: o texto teatral de Agostinho Olavo, Além do Rio, Medea (1957), e a peça de Chico Buarque e Paulo Pontes, Gota D\'Água (1975) / Além do Rio, a Gota D\'Água: the theatrical text of Agostinho Olavo, Além do Rio, Medea (1957), and the piece by Chico Buarque and Paulo Pontes, Gota DÁgua (1975)

Alexandre Francisco Solano 10 August 2018 (has links)
Exercising the critical spirit by comparing the theatrical texts Além do Rio, Medea and Gota DÁgua is the aim of this thesis. The first work was written by Agostinho Olavo in 1957 and the second by Francisco Buarque de Hollanda and Paulo Pontes in 1975. Dealing with possible distances and approximations between them is undoubtedly to deal with the difficult task of understanding the context of production of each one, as well as reflect on the particularities of the dramatic writing of its authors. Added to this, in order to reflect on some approximations between the naturalistic novel and the theater, in Brazil, we propose a brief comparison of the mentioned texts with O Cortiço, of Aluísio de Azevedo. In this way, it is possible to verify the importance that the studies of Antonio Candido and Angel Rama represented for this comparative work. Firstly, in reflecting on the formation of the Brazilian literary system, through the dialectic of localism and cosmopolitanism, Candido provided us with ways to understand how theatrical pieces are inserted in the tradition of Medea, initiated since ancient times in Greece. In turn, the Uruguayan Angel Rama, with the concept of transculturation, brought us pragmatic means to identify how the language, the structure and the worldview of theatrical pieces were thought by the playwrights.

Lujan Ingaruca, Guiomara Pierina 02 July 2021 (has links)
This research analyzes the transformation of the visual language of Huancayo burilared mate style from the changes in its functionality in the last ten years. It is based on the hypothesis that, due to the need to encompass a new market, the mats have changed the visual language of the chipped mates, also using the cross-cultural Christmas theme. Likewise, these chipped mattes fulfill a new functionality due to the new visual language. The research focused on the qualitative study. The type of sampling was for convenience. The criteria were locality, visual language, and temporality. Likewise, the results obtained in the descriptive analysis were complemented by conducting interviews with key informants, the artisans themselves, who were selected for their location, participation and experience. Among the main results, five ways of interpreting the transformations were found according to how the representations integrate cross-cultural elements, such as Christmas. First, there are the mates with cross-cultural aggregates; second, the cross-cultural mates; third, the partially cross-cultural mates; fourth, the Christmas mestizo mates and; fifth, hybrids between subcategories. It was concluded that we are facing a neo-artisanal manifestation, since a cultural hybridization and a need to satisfy a market was found. Likewise, it was concluded that the shape of the mate influences granting a new function, the shape will be the main factor that will determine whether a new function can be introduced and not the transformation of the visual language. / Trabajo de investigación

Reflexe indiánského světa v hispanoamerickém eseji 20. století / Reflection of the Indigenous world in the 20 th Century Latin American Essay

Núňez Tayupanta, Lucie January 2013 (has links)
Reflection of the Indigenous World in the 20th Century Latin American Essay PhDr. Lucie Núñez Tayupanta Abstract This dissertation focuses on the study of essayistic works which reflect the presence of indigenous world and its cultural traditions in Latin America. The aim of this work is to answer the question of how Latin-American essayists consider the contribution of the indigenous heritage to the creation of national identity. Furthermore, the work aims to point out the differences in approach of the essayists and to emphasize specific elements of this process in their works. At the beginning, the thesis deals with the theoretical definition of the genre of essay which is primarily based on studies of Spanish and Latin-American critics. The main part is devoted to the analysis of six essayistic works where three different approaches to the relationship between cultures are evident. The harmonic conception is present in the work of the Mexican writer Alfonso Reyes. Reyes finds common features between the original (pre- Columbian) and the contemporary culture and observes a blending of these two units. In the case of Reyes' text, we can see an effort to find a harmony in the fusion of cultures, the European and indigenous tradition. In the second approach, the dramatic, there can be found two views....

Bahouka-Debat, Armand 19 January 2011 (has links)
In this thesis, we demonstrate the need for ownership of Competitive Intelligence (CI) as a culture and way of governance alternative that can help a developing country to face the triple challenges and issues. Cuba and the neobaroque: twentieth-century reformations of Cuban identity

Cruikshank, Stephen 27 June 2013 (has links)
This thesis project explores the connection between Cuban identity and the twentieth-century Neobaroque. The paper approaches the Neobaroque as a concept that reoriginates or "refracts" culture, implying a relationship between Baroque forms and post-colonial Latin America that creates a transformation of cultural expression. Furthermore, the Neobaroque is seen relating to questions of cultural identity, post-colonialism, transculturation, mestizaje, and Latin American modernity. The Neobaroque's relevancy with Cuba is stipulated in twentieth-century writings of three Cuban authors known as the Cuban triumvirate: José Lezama Lima, Alejo Carpentier, and Severo Sarduy. Similar themes of these writers concerning the Neobaroque's connection with the urban environment of Havana as well as connections to José Martí's writing Nuestra América are highlighted as key components connecting the Neobaroque with Cuban culture. / Graduate / 0336 / 0626 / scruiksh@uvic.ca
