The idea behind this study arose from the analyst's difficulty of working with this type of symptom and a subsequent need to further investigate this everyday phenomenon. Therefore, a study on lies was performed, serving as a starting point for the presentation of a clinical case, which inspired this research. Given the difficulty of the transference management for this type of psychopathology, Freud's work was employed as a support to the psychoanalytic technique. Furthermore, the author also presents other psychoanalysts' reports of patient liars, who in turn, offer a better comprehension of the various aspects that may underlie the lie as told by the patient.Thus, this research intends to consider lies within Psychoanalysis / Esta pesquisa procura compreender a função que tem a mentira contada em análise, bem como retratar qual a função do analista no que diz respeito ao manejo transferencial desse tipo de relato, à luz da teoria psicanalítica freudiana. A ideia para este trabalho surgiu da dificuldade da analista em trabalhar esse tipo de sintomatologia, e uma posterior necessidade em investigar melhor esse fenômeno tão corriqueiro na clínica. Dessa forma efetuou-se um estudo sobre a mentira, servindo como ponto de partida para a apresentação de um caso clínico, que inspirou essa pesquisa. Tendo em vista a dificuldade do manejo transferencial para esse tipo de psicopatologia, a obra de Freud foi empregada para dar sustentabilidade ao que seja a técnica psicanalítica, indo um pouco mais adiante, a autora traz aqui relatos de psicanalistas que tiveram pacientes mentirosos em suas clínicas, que ofereceram, subsídios para a compreensão dos vários aspectos que podem estar subjacentes na mentira relatada pelo paciente. Dessa forma, pretende-se com esta pesquisa considerar a mentira no âmbito da Psicanálise

Among them, we regard Pierre Fédida as the one who amplified and brought the matter into a deeper understanding, as he considered the Metapsychology within the psychological processes of the therapist upon the psychoanalysis technique. The articulations of the case in question, allied with such thought, are the cornerstones of this thesis which understands Countertransference as an inherent mechanism to the analytical scenario and thus, adequate as prescribed therapy. Therefore, a specific comprehension was sought about this technique developed by Freud which has dreaming as its basic paradigm. A thought was also given about its methodology by Ferenczi, based upon cases which were reckoned to be difficult to deal with and aliens to his own arena, fact which provoked increasing scientific publications on the topic of countertransferencial effects in the analysis. The major characteristic of this research has its core on the topic of the first objectional relationships in a baby s psychological constitution which turns to be the transferencial basis upon which the therapist intervene in a patient s psychism. From this perspective, Fédida supported the inherent model of countertransference as a fictional relationship, mother-son-like, capable of becoming both resonant and contigent to a patient s state of anguish and hence proper to the treatment. In the Sarah case the Countertransference s Auto-Transgression, a critical scenario during the analysis, permited the patient to both metabolize and metaphorize his psycologhical suffering / Mobilizados pelo estudo do caso Sarah realizamos uma investigação do conceito de contratransferência formulado por autores, que destacam sua relevância no tratamento psicanalítico. Dentre estes, sustentamos que Pierre Fédida ampliou e aprofundou esta concepção, ao considerar a metapsicologia dos processos psíquicos do analista na técnica psicanalítica. As articulações do caso com o fecundo pensamento deste autor fundamentaram esta tese que concebe a contratransferência como dispositivo inerente à situação analítica e adequada ao enquadre no tratamento. Para tanto, buscamos compreender a especificidade da técnica elaborada por Freud, que tem como paradigma o sonho. Refletimos sobre a problematização dessa técnica por Ferenczi, a partir de casos considerados difíceis e estranhos a seu campo, que promoveu uma gama de estudos voltados à pesquisa dos efeitos contratransferenciais na análise. A característica principal dessa pesquisa tem por referência as primeiras relações objetais na constituição psíquica do bebê, as quais tornam-se modelos de toda transferência, a partir do que o analista intervém no psiquismo do paciente. Dessa perspectiva, Fédida argumentou o modelo implícito da contratransferência como de uma relação fictícia mãe-filho, capaz de ressonância e continência ao estado de angústia do paciente e apropriado à linguagem no tratamento. We believe that the identification and the recognition of countertransference can facilitate for the therapists to elaborate their own feelings, which can benefit the evolution of clinical process and also the maintenance of these professional s psychic health. In a wider context, the study intends to contribute to the conscience of the wounds provoked by masculine violence perpetrated in patriarchal order. The work starts with the therapeutic entailment with the concepts of transference and countertransference. Then, it presents the concepts of vicarious trauma and secondary traumatic stress, like professionals possible symptoms, reactive to the treatment of the trauma. It debates the partner violence phenomenon and the recent changes in Brazilian legislation in behalf of attacked woman. The research was done with ten psychologists that work specifically with the clinical treatment of woman which are victims of violence, in public service, in a big Brazilian city. The instruments used were: semi directed interview with the psychologists and semi structured register of a clinic case, described by the psychologist right after one attendance. The data was analyzed using a qualitative method in the light of analytical psychology. The results disclose that the violence against woman is still a theme poorly explored and valued. It found that in the treatment of these women emerge intense contents, connected to the wounded feminine on the psychologist personal psyche. Most of them seem to present symptoms of secondary traumatic stress. Some countertransference feelings were ignored by psychotherapists; witch can obscure the therapeutic contact. Concluding, this study emphasizes the necessity of the caring of the psychologist. It also emphasizes the necessity of the psychologists to use their perception, discrimination and capacities to work with clear limits, to facilitate the recognition, the elaboration and the analytical work of countertransference reaction in behalf of the therapeutic dynamic / A pesquisa visa observar a contratransferência de psicólogas na clínica com mulheres em situação de violência conjugal. Espera-se que a identificação e o reconhecimento da contratransferência possa facilitar às psicólogas a elaboração de seus sentimentos. Isso tudo pode beneficiar a evolução do atendimento e também a manutenção da saúde psíquica dessas profissionais. Partindo para um contexto mais amplo, o estudo pretende contribuir na conscientização das feridas provocadas pela violência masculina perpetrada na ordem patriarcal. Discute-se, primeiramente, o vínculo terapêutico com os conceitos de transferência e contratransferência. Apresentam-se, em seguida, os conceitos de trauma vicário e estresse secundário traumático, como possíveis sintomas, dos profissionais, reativos à clínica do trauma. Debate-se o fenômeno da violência conjugal e apresentam-se as atuais mudanças na legislação brasileira em favor da mulher agredida. A pesquisa foi realizada com dez psicólogas que trabalham especificamente com a clínica de violência contra a mulher, no serviço público, em uma metrópole brasileira. Foram utilizados entrevista semidirigida com as psicólogas e registro semiestruturado de um caso clínico, descrito pelas psicólogas logo após um atendimento. Os dados foram analisados através do método qualitativo à luz da psicologia analítica. Os resultados revelam que a violência contra a mulher ainda é assunto pouco explorado e pouco valorizado. Revelam, ainda, que essa clínica faz emergir conteúdos intensos, com questões ligadas ao feminino ferido as quais fazem parte do universo pessoal das psicólogas. A maioria delas pareceu apresentar sintomas de estresse secundário traumático. Alguns sentimentos contratransferenciais foram ignorados pelas psicólogas, o que pode obscurecer o contato terapêutico. Concluindo, esse estudo ressalta a necessidade de cuidado direcionado às psicólogas. Ressalta também a necessidade das psicólogas resgatarem suas capacidades de percepção, discriminação e de colocação de limites, a fim de facilitar o reconhecimento, a elaboração e o trabalho analítico das reações contratransferenciais em favor da dinâmica terapêutica

To this end, aspects of the Theory of the Maturing of D.W.Winnicott and their application in the clinic, such as body holding, regression management and egoic needs are included here. Also discussed are questions of technique, transference and countertransference, involving the abstinence rule, analyst neutrality and the necessary modification of classical psychoanalysis in the care of patients who have suffered from inadequate environmental care in a phase of absolute dependence. Diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, the patient in question was assisted in a task group proposal and in individual consultations when she requested it. It was possible to conclude that in some moments, the attendance to the need for corporal contact - touch to the hands and the hair - proved adequate to unfreeze the environmental fault lived by the patient in the beginnings of its existence; in others, however, it was important to deny her the request in order to safeguard the setting and the psychologist as a real person in the treatment / Este estudo tem como proposta realizar uma reflexão acerca da necessidade de contato físico com a psicóloga de uma paciente borderline atendida em instituição pública. Para tanto, são aqui retomados aspectos da Teoria do Amadurecimento de D. W. Winnicott e sua aplicação na clínica, tais como holding corporal, manejo da regressão e necessidades egoicas. Também são abordadas questões da técnica, da transferência e contratransferência, envolvendo a regra da abstinência, a neutralidade do analista e a necessária modificação da psicanálise clássica no atendimento de pacientes que sofreram falhas de cuidados ambientais numa fase de dependência absoluta. Diagnosticada com transtorno esquizoafetivo, a paciente em questão foi atendida numa proposta de grupo de tarefas e em consultas individuais, quando assim o solicitava. Foi possível concluir que, em alguns momentos, o atendimento à necessidade de contato corporal – toque nas mãos e nos cabelos – mostrou-se adequado para descongelar a falha ambiental vivida pela paciente nos primórdios de sua existência; em outros, porém, foi importante negar-lhe o pedido, de modo a salvaguardar o setting e a psicóloga como pessoa real no tratamento

L’intégration du sexuel infantile dans une organisation sexuelle régie par les capacités spécifiques au sexuel adulte est entravée par la superposition psychique entre l’inachèvement de la sexualité infantile et l’infertilité. L’infertilité est autant liée à des fantasmatiques oedipiennes et à une sexualité infantile phallique (avec les rivalités et les tendances parricides et infanticides correspondantes) qu’aux ambivalences infantiles plus ou moins objectales ou narcissiques de l’analité. De telles représentations menacent le refoulement et déclenchent des mouvements défensifs chez les patients, entraînant la mise en acte des fantasmatiques inconscientes en jeu. Dans une telle conjoncture, la compréhension de l’infertilité et sa prise en charge sont facilement mises en impasse. L’intervenant est entraîné dans des agis contretransférentiels qui soit confirment les fantasmes d’incapacité des patients, soit laissent ces derniers seuls avec les fantasmes en question, ce qui rend stérile l’intervention. La fonction psychique médiatrice du psychologue peut nécessiter d’être étayée par un dispositif qui la préserve permettant la mise en représentation, la différenciation et l’intégration psychique des éléments en jeu. / The integration of infantile sexuality in a sexual organisation governed by the capacities specific to adult sexuality is hindered by the psychic superposition of the incompletion of infantile sexuality and infertility. Infertility is both related to oedipal fantasies and infantile phallic sexuality (with the corresponding rivalries and the parricide and infanticide tendencies) and to the more or less objectal or narcissistic infantile ambivalences of anality. Such representations threaten repression and set off defensive reactions in the patients, which leads to the acting out of unconscious fantasies at stake. In such a situation, the comprehension of infertility and its taking charge of are easily put in impasse. The psychologist is led into countertransferential acting outs that either confirm the patients’ incapacity fantasies or leave them alone with these fantasies, making the intervention sterile. The psychologist’s mediatory psychic function can require to be upheld by devices that protect it, allowing the representation, the differentiation and the psychic integration of the elements at stake.

A questão que originou esta pesquisa surgiu da clínica, campo de investigação e reduto de trabalho do psicanalista. Ao observar a mudança de constelações psíquicas que vêm se apresentando no consultório, e constatar os limites que a técnica clássica impõe à escuta psicanalítica, fez-se necessário conhecer outras teorias e técnicas que possibilitassem a ampliação da sensibilidade clínica, buscando, via contratransferência, uma forma de escutar os conteúdos psíquicos de pacientes com falha no processo de simbolização. O trabalho de investigação visou então desenvolver e sustentar a tese de que a perlaboração da contratransferência pode ser um importante recurso que coloca à disposição do trabalho analítico o material necessário para realizar construções em análise de representações-coisa. Os argumentos são construídos em três etapas: aproximação dos conceitos de contratransferência e de perlaboração, sustentando a primeira proposição da tese de perlaboração da contratransferência; apresentação dos aportes teóricos relativos ao conceito de contratransferência, desenvolvidos por autores pós-freudianos, e descrição do trabalho psicanalítico, lançando luz na metapsicologia do analista, composta, precisamente, dos processos psíquicos envolvidos na perlaboração da contratransferência, quais sejam, empatia, identificação projetiva em sua forma comunicativa e rêverie. Entendemos que esses três conceitos operando juntos permitem sustentar a dimensão estética da contratransferência, que, via trabalho do analista, disponibiliza material para realizar a figurabilidade necessária às simbolizações primárias. Trata-se do último passo da tese, que é sustentar a proposição dequea perlaboração da contratransferência é uma etapa sinequa non das construções em análise. O modelo de trabalho que propomos como paradigma deste modo de psicanalisar é o da Gradiva, que encontra na sua própria alucinação a forma de rememoração e perlaboração das cadeias representacionais interrompidas no psiquismo de Hanold. Os argumentos foram desenvolvidos a partir dos seguintes historiais clínicos de autores consagrados na psicanálise: o Homem dos Lobos, a análise de Margareth Little com Winnicott, o caso de análise mútua de Elizabeth Severn e por fim, o caso Didier da psicanalista Julia Kristeva. O percurso nos levou a contribuir com o campo científico a partir de três pontos: compreender como o psicanalista realiza este trabalho; alçar a contratransferência a uma dimensão estética, que visa dar forma e sentido quando há falhas nesses aspectos no analisando, e, sobretudo, recuperar o conceito de alucinação como processo de rememoração, sendo esta compreendida como a matriz da criação simbólica / The question that originated this research arose from the clinic, field of investigation and heartland of work of the psychoanalyst. When observing the change in psychic constellations that are appearing in the practice, and verifying the limits that the classical technique imposes to the psychoanalytical´s listening, it became necessary to know other theories and techniques that would allow the amplification of the clinical sensitivity, seeking, via countertransference, a way of listening to the psychic contents of patients with failure in the process of symbolization.The research work aimed at developing and sustaining the thesis that the perlaboration of the countertransference can be an important resource that makes available to the analytical work the material necessary to perform constructions in analysis of thing representations. The arguments are constructed in three stages: approximation of the concepts of countertransference and perlaboration, underpinning the first proposition of the thesis of perlaboration of countertransference; presentation of the theoretical contributions on the concept of countertransference, developed by post-Freudian authors, and description of psychoanalytic work, throwing light on the analyst\'s metapsychology, precisely composed by the psychic processes involved in the perlaboration of countertransference, namely, empathy, projective identification in its communicative and rêverie forms.We understand that these three concepts working together allow us to underpin the aesthetic dimension of countertransference, which, through the work of the analyst, provides material to achieve the necessary figurability of primary symbolizations. This is the last step of the thesis, which is to underpin the proposition that the perlaboration of the countertransference is a sine qua non stage of the constructions in the analysis. The work model that we propose as a paradigm for this way of psychoanalysis is Gradiva\'s, who finds in its own hallucination the form of recalling and perlaboration of the representational chains interrupted in the psychism of Hanold. The arguments were developed from the following clinical histories of well-known authors in psychoanalysis: the Man of the Wolves, the analysis of Margareth Little with Winnicott, the case of mutual analysis of Elizabeth Severn and, finally, Didier case of the psychoanalyst Julia Kristeva.The course led us to contribute with the scientific field since three points: to comprehend how the psychoanalyst achieves this work; to elevate countertransference to an aesthetic dimension, which aims to give form and meaning when there are flaws in these aspects in the analysand, and, above all, to recover the concept of hallucination as a process of recalling, which is understood as the matrix of symbolic creation

Cette recherche doctorale s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une démarche clinique d’orientation psychanalytique en sciences de l’éducation. Elle porte sur l’enseignement de la philosophie en France, tel qu’il est actuellement dispensé dans les classes terminales des séries générales et technologiques des lycées. Elle est consacrée, plus particulièrement, à la manière dont des professeurs de philosophie vivent l’acte d’enseigner leur discipline. Le matériel empirique est constitué d’entretiens cliniques non-directifs qui ont été réalisés auprès de six professeurs de philosophie de l’enseignement secondaire interviewés à partir de la consigne suivante : « J’aimerais que vous me disiez, comme ça vous vient, comment vous vivez le fait d’enseigner la philosophie ». La thèse comporte trois parties : certaines questions relatives à la construction de l’objet de recherche et à l’analyse de l’implication et du contre-transfert du chercheur constituent la première partie de ce travail. La deuxième partie comporte des éléments d’analyses pédagogiques, historiographiques et cliniques de l’enseignement de la philosophie au lycée. La troisième partie est consacrée à l’analyse des entretiens cliniques. Elle comporte des éléments de réflexion d’ordre épistémologique et méthodologique et propose une mise en perspective des entretiens et de certaines de leurs thématiques transversales. / This doctoral research is part of a clinical approach of psychoanalytical orientation in the sciences of education. It deals with the teaching of philosophy in France, as it is currently taught in the final year of high school in the academic and technological classes. It is devoted, more particularly, to the way in which teachers experience the teaching of their subject. The empirical material consists of non-directive clinical interviews that were conducted with six secondary education philosophy teachers interviewed from the following instruction : « I would like you to tell me, as it comes to you, what you feel when you teach philosophy ». The thesis is divided into three parts : some questions relating to the construction of the research subject and to the analysis of the implication and the countertransference of the researcher constitute the first part of this work. The second part includes elements of pedagogical, historiographical and clinical analysis of the teaching of philosophy in high school. The third part is devoted to the analysis of clinical interviews. It includes elements of epistemological and methodological reflection putting into perspective the interviews and some of their interdisciplinary themes.

Therapist countertransference experiences of clients' violent crime narratives in the South African context.

AIM: This study endeavoured to explore and understand countertransference reactions that occur when the therapist is exposed to clients‘ stories of violent crime. The study focused on the therapist‘s experiential responses resulting from exposure to traumatic stories and the subsequent consequences thereof. This was contextualized from the particular perspective of South African therapists and their above average exposure to crime related trauma. METHODOLOGY: A qualitative research design was used with Smith‘s Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) as the methodology of choice. This included a double hermeneutic approach of analysing firstly the perceptions and secondly the meaning of such perceptions within the context of current literature. Nine South African psychologists were purposively selected and interviewed to provide the required data. CONCLUSION: The results of this study show that both concordant and complementary countertransference play a large role in the therapist‘s experience of 'identification with suffering‘ and feelings of avoidance whilst listening to stories of violent crime. Such concordant identification with the client, if not mediated through awareness of one‘s internal dynamics, can result in the therapist‘s over-identification with the client which may be associated with features of vicarious trauma. One way in which such vicarious trauma states may be resolved by the therapist is through the concordant mimicking of the client‘s need to purge and be contained. Experiences linked to vicarious trauma, however, are not a certainty when working with trauma but rather an outcome that depends greatly on a therapist‘s level of experience, self-awareness and ability to implement coping strategies. Through these mediating factors, what may usually be experienced as vicariously traumatic may be transformed into resilience and self-growth. It appears that the implementation of coping strategies (such as normalization and reframing) are also what allow South African therapists to manage in the context of high crime rates and caseloads. Despite the barriers that the public sector poses, the tenacity and hopefulness demonstrated by some of the participants allowed them to overcome some of the difficulties linked to working with trauma. / Thesis (M.Soc.Sc.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, 2012.

La relation médecin-patient en consultation douleur : dynamique de l'alliance thérapeutique comme perspective au changement / The physician-patient pain consultation : therapeutic alliance dynamic as perspective of change

L’objectif est de comprendre comment se forme et se rompt l’alliance thérapeutique dans des consultations médicales pour la douleur chronique. Notre population se compose de quarante-deux patients consultants pour la première fois en Centre d’Etude et de Traitement de la Douleur. Les patients ont été évalués durant les cinq premières consultations et une grille des cognitions sociales et relations d’objet a été remplie. La perception de la douleur, l’autorégulation et l’observance médicamenteuse ont été évaluées. Un questionnaire d’alliance thérapeutique a été rempli par le médecin et les patients. Un questionnaire de contre-transfert a été rempli par le médecin après le cinquième entretien. Nos résultats montrent un lien entre la perception de l’alliance thérapeutique par le patient et l’évaluation du contre-transfert par le médecin. Une partie de l’évaluation des cognitions sociales et relations d’objet est liée à l’évaluation du contre-transfert du médecin et à ses évaluations de l’alliance thérapeutique. L’observance médicamenteuse est en partie reliée à la perception de l’alliance thérapeutique par le médecin. L’évaluation sensorielle de la douleur est négativement corrélée au troisième entretien avec l’évaluation de l’alliance thérapeutique par le patient. L’Expression des Emotions et Besoins est corrélée positivement à plusieurs items de la SCORS et à la perception par le patient de l’alliance thérapeutique. La Contrôlabilité est également corrélée aux évaluations de la douleur. Des données qualitatives permettent de différencier à travers le discours les patients qui quitteront ou non le suivi prématurément et ceux qui décriront une hausse ou baisse des douleurs. / The goal is to understand how therapeutic alliance develops and breaks in medical consultations for chronic pain.
Our population is made up of forty two patients who are seeing a physician for the first time in a chronic pain unit. The patients were assessed during the first five consultations and a social cognition and object relations scale was filled in. Perception of pain, self-regulation and medication adherence were assessed. A therapeutic alliance questionnaire was completed at both to the doctor and the patients. A questionnaire of countertransference was filled in by the doctor after the fifth consultation. Our results show a link between the patient’s perception of the therapeutic alliance and the assessment of physician countertransference. Part of the assessment of social cognition and object relations is related to the countertransference assessment and to the physician’s therapeutic alliance assessments. The medication adherence is partly related to the perception of the physician’s therapeutic alliance. Sensory evaluation of pain is negatively correlated to the third interview with the evaluation of the patient’s therapeutic alliance. Expression of the Feelings and Needs is positively correlated with several items of the SCORS and patient perception of the therapeutic alliance. Controllability is correlated with pain ratings. Qualitative data allow to differentiate through patients discourses who leave prematurely or did follow appointments, and those who describe increased or decreased pain sensations.

O manejo da transferência e contratransferência na relação, professor e aluno adolescente : sua função no processo de aprendizagem

A pesquisa articula Psicanálise e Educação, trata da relação professor-aluno adolescente e discute sua importância para a efetivação da aprendizagem. Como temática central, destaca-se o processo da transferência e da contratransferência na perspectiva psicanalítica. O estudo da transferência teve como referencial teórico os textos de Freud no contexto evolutivo de sua obra. Como o conceito de contratransferência foi pouco trabalhado por Freud, recorremos a alguns pós-freudianos para fundamentar nosso estudo; dentre estes ressaltamos as contribuições de Sándor Ferenczi, Paula Heimann, Pierre Fèdida e Luís Cláudio Figueiredo. Os processos da transferência e da contratransferência, que podem ser observados em qualquer relacionamento interpessoal, ganham importância diferenciada no âmbito da relação professor-aluno adolescente. Partindo da convicção de que o manejo da transferência e da contratransferência, na relação professor-aluno adolescente, tem um impacto positivo, ou negativo, sobre o processo da aprendizagem, desenvolvemos a presente pesquisa de natureza qualitativa, observando e escutando professores e alunos acerca de suas experiências no contexto escolar. O locus da pesquisa foi a Escola de Referência em Ensino Médio Francisco Madeiros, localizada no município de Garanhuns (PE), no bairro Magano. Quanto aos resultados alcançados, verificamos, nas narrativas dos professores, fatos que indicam relações positivas, alicerçadas no respeito, admiração e vínculos de amizade. As maiores dificuldades indicadas pelos professores para o estabelecimento de uma boa relação com os alunos foram a falta de respeito, a rebeldia e a agressividade. Quanto aos alunos adolescentes, a afetividade permeia suas relações com os professores e constrõe vínculos positivos de admiração, mas existem também aqueles que se distanciam dos professores devido à rigidez com que são tratados e à desconfiança que este tratamento provoca. A maioria dos alunos apresenta um melhor desempenho nas disciplinas com as quais mantêm um bom relacionamento com o professor. A pesquisa pretende também contribuir para a comunidade escolar, favorecendo uma nova forma de entendimento dos fatores que podem concorrer para uma melhor eficácia do processo de aprendizagem / The research articulates Psychoanalysis and Education, approaches the teacher-teenager student relationship and discusses its importance for an effective learning. As a central theme, the process of transference and counter-transference is highlighted into the psychoanalytic perspective. The study of transference has as theorical reference Freuds writings in the evolutive context of his work. As the concept of counter-transference has been little explored by Freud, we resorted to some post-Freudian in order to base our study among them we highlight the contributions of Sandor Ferenczi, Paula Heimann, Pierre Fèdida and Luis Cláudio Figueiredo. The transference and counter-transference that con be observed in any interpersonal relationship, gains differentiated importance in the teacher-teenager student context. Based on the conviction that the management of transference and counter-transference in the teacher-teenager student relationship has a positive or negative impact on the learning process, we developed the current qualitative- nature research, by watching and listening teachers and students about their experiences into the school context. The locus of the research was the school of reference in High School Madeiros Francisco of Garanhuns (PE) in Magano neighborhood. As for reached results, according to the teachers narratives, we found facts indicating positive relationships, based on respect, admiration and friendship bonds. The greatest difficulties pointed by the teachers to establish a good relationship with students were lack of respect, rebellion and aggression. As for teenagers students affectivity permeates their relationship with the teacher and builds positive bonds of admiration, but there also those ones who set apart from the teacher due to the way they are treated and the suspicion provoked by this treatment. Most students show a better performance in subjects with which they have a good relationship with the teacher. The research also intends to contribute to the school community , by promoting a new understanding of factors that may contribute to a better efficiency of the learning process
