Intensified Nature

Bacha, Ryan Joseph 10 July 2003 (has links)
While art can be an intensification of perception, this nature center recognizes the presence of nature through symbiotic connotations of its primordial elements as architectural form. Deepened experiences of both nature and architecture are to be achieved through a clarified ordering of architectonic elements and their relationship to each other, nature, and humanity. / Master of Architecture

Liebe und sein: die Agape als fundamentalontologische Kategorie / Love and existence : the Agape as fundamental ontological category

Knauber, Bernt Erwin 31 December 2003 (has links)
Text in German / From a Christian perspective, complete wellness is available for man. This fact is based on God's unconditional Agape-love bestowed on man in Jesus Christ. It is by this love that being is offered a perfect vision of eternal existence. The Bible clearly shows that even creation was brought forth by the very word in which the love of the creator manifested itself in a mighty way. All being is being in the love of God, apart from which it will cease to exist. It would therefore seem advisable to examine Agape as a basic ontological category, which is our intention in this treatise. Following the course of salvation history we shall demonstrate how the love of God is responsible for being in all its complexity, where the separate parts work together constructively, thus glorifying their creator. In this way we behold the order of being in Agape. We move our attention beyond salvation of the individual but rather focus on the community aspect of salvation, and thus demonstrate from a biblical point of view, the significance of the New Testament ecclesia as the spearhead of God's Kingdom. We will show that it is the intention of Agape to give a specific Christian character to the community of believers as a witness to a world which is lacking in love and therefore also without proper orientation in its being. Where the ecclesia has lost its trait of love, we advise an uncompromising return to a corrective gospel as designed by the creator for true being, keeping in mind the limits, which the church has been given as an existing body in this world. What must never leave our focus, however, is that we extend to each other the forgiveness of Christ as the core of God's love, thus holding on to the distinct difference between Christian and non-Christian being. We therefore also recommend to examine the denominational structure of Christianity whether it is in conflict with a being that carries the mark of God's love. We remind that Agape wants to cause unity in a concrete way - unity that cannot be brought about by any secular strategy, but only by the power of God. By reorganizing our personal as well as our ecclesiastical being, the love of God will also verify the truth of God completely. / Systematic Theology & Theological Ethics / D.Th.

Georgiou, Angelos 08 1900 (has links)
This thesis offers a thematic commentary of Xenophon’s Memorabilia following the ergon-logos conciliation. Surveying, regrouping and analyzing the many and varied occurrences of this theme reveals the extent to which it is deeply rooted in Xenophon’s Socratic philosophy. The first chapter considers the role Xenophon ascribes to this theme in the general intention that governs the Memorabilia – which focuses on Socrates’ usefulness as an apologetic device –, and reveals a greater philosophical question about the limits of logos, which in reality reinforces the philosophical interest and importance of the ergon-logos conciliation. The second chapter examines just how significant the ergon-logos conciliation is in Xenophon’s Socratic morality, not only because Socrates himself is, in word and deed, the ideal incarnation of virtue, but also because Xenophon’s moral conception is both intellectualistic and ascetic, which advocates learning and knowledge, as well as self-control, exercise, mentorship, and the virtue of example. The third chapter investigates the role the ergon-logos conciliation plays as a condition to friendship, in turn as its ethical foundation and as a means to acquire friends. Finally, the fourth and last chapter uses the notion of imposture to illustrate that Xenophon’s Socratic morality also stretches to the technical field.

Simard, Robert Maxime 05 1900 (has links)
Organic farming is the result of a long struggle of the consumer and the citizen to know and control the quality of its food. Its rising popularity confirms that the availability of information on the supply plays a central role to economic and social demand. This trend supports the emergence of a new element within the corpus of human rights: the right to information. This study examines the stages of its formation and takes for example the organic food chain. It represents a pioneering model of hybridation between private law and public law. We first examine how the activity of civil and private sectors food helped foment the desire of consumer information, and then put it in jeopardy. Along with this, we propose to analyze the impact and influence of the corpus of rights and principles of sustainable development of the organic sector, but especially on the recognition of the need for consumer information. Finally, we present an overview of government regulation of the organic designation, its logo and its label. In order to do this, we evaluate the measures in place according to the criterias of accuracy, accessibility and completeness of the information disclosed to the consumer. In light of our analysis, the consumer can draw their own conclusions on the best normative responses to their needs. What measures between transnational law, international law and national law provide the best outcome? Which of these legal forms is able to promote a form of responsible consumption where consumers no longer face barriers to its choice?

[en] THE LOGOS IN PHILO OF ALEXANDRIA: MAIN INTERPRETATIONS / [pt] O LOGOS EM FÍLON DE ALEXANDRIA: PRINCIPAIS INTERPRETAÇÕES

DAX FONSECA MORAES PAES NASCIMENTO 06 November 2003 (has links)
[en] Philo of Alexandria, a first century Jewish philosopher, appears as the first thinker who tried to conciliate biblical contents and western philosophical tradition. In this way, he is better known by his Doctrine of the Logos, about which many controversies are still waiting to be solved. This Dissertation claims the task to examine the meanings of that Logos in Philos works, dealing with its connections to philosophical tradition and Jewish sources as well. We pay regard to its significance to Christian theology and to the role played by philosophical tradition, especially by Platonism as by Stoicism. Otherwise, the Philos thinking still shows itself original and marked by contributions external to the hellenistic culture: Jewish ones. This combination has, by result, provocative ideas on most important metaphysical, theological, ethical and epistemological questions, revealing Philo as a very weighty thinker in the History of Philosophy. For this, the Dissertation aims to restore many questions that we see not yet properly answered. Also questioned are the role played by philosophy in the human search for wisdom and the role played by faith in the attainment of virtue. More strictly concerning philonic Logos, it means Gods action in the world, an instrument for Creation, pattern and example for the world and Gods image, the revealing Word and the sole way by which human soul acquires true knowledge, that comes from the knowledge of God. This power does not belongs to man, but its a gift from God, a grace.

Kärlek eller bara en fling? : En retorisk komparativ analys av Match och Victoria Milans TV-reklamfilmer / Just a love story?

Holst, Susanne January 2011 (has links)
Nyckelord: ethos, pathos,logos- triaden, visuell retorik, TV-reklamfilm, hermeneutik, binärt motsatsförhållande, dejting, internet, Barthes, Lévi-Strauss / This study aims to highlight the two firms Match and Victoria Milan's television commercials. The primary purpose is to explore the rhetorical strategies Match and Victoria Milan use in the commercials to attract new paying members to the sites. Each advertisement is examined through rhetorical analysis. The rhetorical theories used are the triad of ethos, pathos, logos and the semiotic aspects of denotation and connotation. In my work I also analyze video production technology to illuminate the camera angles. With hermeneutics as a scientific approach I will interpret the commercials by using the hermeneutic circle approach. The secondary objective of this work is to compare the similarities and differences between the commercials. The questions I ask are 1) the similarities and differences in the commercials and 2) how different gender patterns differ between the commercials. To visualize the structures that exist, I will use structuralist theory. Victoria Milan has until today only produced one television commercial that is analyzed. Match, however, produced several commercials and I have therefore chosen to examine the most recent of these commercials. The analysis shows that both advertising films strength and persuasive power lies in that they combine the rational and emotional Apelles – the intended recipient both recognize themselves in the commercials and that the commercials contain arguments. The Promotional Films are based on structuralist binary opposites that form the basis of how man and woman's role in advertising films are produced / perceived differently. In the Match commercial the man is in control. In the Victoria Milan commercial the woman is the one who is active. One conclusion is that two sub-conscious issues are raised by the recipient, "it can become areality" (Match), and "it could be better" (Victoria Milan). This emotional influence instilles hope in the subconscious of the intended target groups. The hope they feel is a strong rhetorical approach that both companies use. Finding an excuse for bad behavior, however, is Victoria Milan's main rhetorical strategy. Keywords: triad of ethos, pathos, logos, visual rhetoric, television commercials, binary opposition, dating, internet, Barthes, Lévi-Strauss

Salvador
