: En användarundersökning på Lidköpings biblioteks barnavdelning / A space for meetings, creating, inspiration and learning? : A user study at the children’s section at the public library of Lidköping

Arnälv, Emma, Magnusson, Kajsa January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to seek knowledge about how children and their parents use the children’s section in a newly built library, and what function it has for its users. We also want to seek knowledge about how the children’s section is seen as a meeting place by the parents. Our research questions are: How is the children’s section at the public library of Lidköping being used as a meeting space, performative space, inspiration space and learning space? What are the functions of the children's section at the public library of Lidköping for families with children? Do the parents see the children’s section as a meeting place, then in which way?The theoretical approach is based on The Four Space Model by Henrik Jochumsen, Casper Hvenegaard Rasmussen and Dorte Skot-Hansen. We used qualitative interviews and non-participant observations to answer our questions. The results show that the library is mostly being used for reading, playing and to consort within the family. The children’s section functions as an entrance to books and reading, and it also has a function as a place where you spend time with your family. We discovered that half of the parents in our study did see the children’s section as a meeting place because they thought it is a good place to meet and consort.

Vad ska jag läsa nu då? : en studie om hur individer söker skönlitteratur

Löfqvist, Mattias January 2006 (has links)

Journalisters användning av elektroniska informationskällor : en användarundersökning vid Svenska Dagbladet / Journalists usage of electronic information sources : a user study at Svenska Dagbladet

Eriksson, Karin, Strömberg, Monica January 1997 (has links)
The aim of this thesis has been to examine and delineate the use of electronic information sources among the newsroom staff members at the Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet(SvD). The aim has also been to make comparisons between this examination and a similar one performed at the British newspaper the Guardian in 1991 / 1992. The examination at Svenska Dagbladet was carried out in the autumn of 1996. A questionnaire was distributed to 273 of the staff members at SvD and 229 forms were returned. A minor member of interviews were also carried out. The survey's major findings are that SvD's staff members are generally high-volume users of the electronic newspaper archive. Less than a half of the staff use external databases at least once a month. The most favoured group of external databases are the one's of the Swedish vendor Affarsdata. Almost all users have received training on SvD's electronic text archive, but only a minority on external databases. The survey shows that the SvD journalists are interested in database use but they are at the same time limited in the mastery of the search process. The journalists principally conduct subject searches and they use databases in order to find out what has previously been written on a subject and to look for background information. The results of this survey and the one carried out at the Guardian generally correspond. Furthermore, a majority of the staff members use Internet to receive information.

Larsson, Gustav January 2016 (has links)

Internetanvändning på Ronneby stadsbibliotek och Läsesalongen/Café Access, Stockholm / Use of Internet at Ronneby Public Library and Läsesalongen /Café Access, Stockholm

Johnsson, Maria, Severinson, Tina January 1996 (has links)
The paper aims to find out how staff and users at two public libraries and one Internetcafeuse Internet. The purpose has been to find out what they find and how they use the information they retrieve. The studies are based on eight longer interviews with the staff and 33 shorter with the users, who also were observed for a week. The paper includes a background chapter about Internet, search tools and the studied places. The following chapters are about previous research, our survey and a discussion with the results, literature and our opinion. We have found out that Internet is usually used for information retrieval. That staff education is of importance when an implementation is made. Most of the users wanted to use Internet for free, but many of them were willing to pay a small amount. The users in the survey were very different according to age and sex.

Studenters användning av elektroniska källor : en användarundersökning vid Växjö universitetsbibliotek / Students’ usage of electronic resources : A user study at Växjö University Library

Petersson Stenberg, Karin January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this master’s thesis is to gain insights into students’ usage and attitudes towards electronic articles and electronic books and how students feel about a change from print collections to digital collections at Växjö University Library. The main questions are: How do different groups of students use the library collections of electronic articles and electronic books? What factors influence the usage of the library collections of electronic articles and electronic books among students? What are the students’ experiences of reading electronic books in comparison with reading print books? What would different groups of students think if the literature they need for their studies were purchased in electronic form instead of print? To answer the questions a user study was carried out at Växjö university library. A web survey was sent to students that had a library card and an email address registered at the library. The result shows that a majority of the students had used the electronic articles but only a third had used the electronic books. The most important factor for users of electronic articles and electronic books was the ability to access them at home and around the clock. Many respondents complained about the difficulty of reading text on a computer screen, and 64 percent preferred to read print books, but 62,7 percent could accept to use electronic books instead of print books and 50,9 percent liked the idea of electronic textbooks instead of print textbooks at the library.

Multimedia på folkbibliotek : uppfattningar och åsikter bland användare i Kungsbacka / Multimedia in the public library : views and options of some users in Kungsbacka

Tunek, Maria January 1996 (has links)
Master thesis studying the use of multimedia on CD-ROM in a library setting by analysis ofqualitative interviews with nineteen persons. The thesis relates the study to some relevant issues in human-computer interface (HCI) researchand to the commercial market for multimedia CD-ROM products. Three main types ofuse were described by the persons interviewed: recreational, information seeking and usingmultimedia to learn more about using computers. Children and young people interviewed mademost use of the multimedia provided, whereas adults thought it to be less valuable as a sourceof knowledge for them personally.HCI research shows various results of using multimedia for educational purposes. Thecommercial market is dominated by American products which can have a negative effect onthe use of multimedia in Swedish public libraries.
