Sven-Harrys : Att leva med konsten

Sjögren, Molly January 2011 (has links)

In this context, Stone (2005) analyzes the emergence and performance of a relevant actor, the Think Tanks, which are groups seeking to influence governments and companies to adopt certain discourses and initiatives. Among these actors emerge those who are engaged in building an agenda for the business world into the DS, as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). But what sense the educational actions taken by these think tanks take in this process? What kind of skills promote? To answer these questions we chose to study the performance of the Think Tank WBCSD, from Derrida's deconstruction. Took to this discourse and Skills Development Actions for Sustainability (SDfS), held by the Boards (BCSDs) of Brazil and Portugal. The research question that guided this research was as follows: What are the meanings of SDfS initiatives, disseminated by the WBCSD, which are revealed in his speeches and educational activities? In the study of the trajectory analyzed the documents that present the thought of the DS entity (Vision 2050 and Action 2020) in order to understand the discourses and sustainable initiatives. In addition, interviews were performed with Coordinators, Associate Specialists and BCSD Brazil and BCSD Portugal to understand the initiatives and educational activities of DCPS developed by these councils between the years 2010 to 2013. To understand this discursive game developed the metaphor read Think Tanke, used to analyze the performance of the WBCSD, which can develop a "thought armored car" closed the other translations, and/or assume the posture of a moderator speeches, most associated with the "thought tank " Explains that the "tank" is a popular technology that is based on the principles of sustainability and is applied in the Northeast of Brazil through water harvesting during the rainy season, so that the supply times of crisis to use liquid reserved. In this sense, the "thinking tank" is the work of "think tanke " that opens the diversity of opinions and readings in order to develop strategies to act in a sustainable way in times of plenty and in crisis situations. In light of Derrida, the survey results show the ambiguities and the nature of expertise in the speeches and initiatives that predominate in SDfS programs. Values to adapt the business to DS logic in a discursive context that want to build a new relationship between business and society, expressed in the document Vision 2050, but still can not be consistent enough to consolidate an effective change. For the WBCSD go in his ways the entity needs to recognize its responsibility in the concrete and the effectiveness of SDfS initiatives. This finding requires that the entity's educational activities as well as developing skills to meet the urgent environmental crisis, also needs to promote more associated skills to understand a " thought tank" that seek to respond social and environmental issues in their complexity when considering the various translations on the theme.

Högberg, Amelia January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this essay is to show how the relationship between credit and critique is important for Jacques Derrida’s deconstruction of law. I will start from Force of Law, in which law, as well as justice, is deconstructed by Derrida. My purpose is further to show how the two concepts, credit and critique, are intertwined in the discourse of law and thereby crucial for Derrida’s deconstruction. As Derrida always states, the rational projects need to have a master concept, which the project revolves around, and this master concept needs at least one other subordinate concept to contrast itself against. In this context, I argue that critique can be that master concept. I base this argument upon the fact that critique in its ancient Greek sense, krinein, can be translated into the verb ‘to separate’, ‘to decide’ or ‘to judge’, which shows that there is an obvious link to the task of a judge. This puts critique in center of the discourse of law. Credit on the other hand is not rational, which makes it opposed to critique, but it is still important for law. It is a typical subordinated concept that just appears in the discourse without any further explanation but is present by its implicit importance to the discourse. I argue that credit is the subordinate concept that is needed for the concept of critique to be a master concept. Both concepts are important for the foundation of law, and this is why I believe that Derrida in the end states the importance to take responsibility for the law. In other words, one must take responsibility for both founding aspects of credit and critique when deconstructing the law.

Aporia in the work of D. H. Lawrence / L'aporie dans l'œuvre de D.H. Lawrence

Lebreton, Mélanie 28 November 2014 (has links)
This work of research aims at showing how aporia and its plural voices pervade D.H Lawrence’s work, be it through his novels, his essays, his poetry, or his paintings. Despite the reader’s desire to give one singular voice and meaning to D.H Lawrence’s work, plural meanings and multiples truths come our way, leaving us facing an uncrossable impasse. The road is paved with deadlocks and places to stumble upon. Indeed, genetic aporia weaves the very fabric of D.H. Lawrence’s first drafts and sketches, and the logocentric and hermeneutic sovereignty of man is put into question. In fact, we have to cross it out as Lawrence’s work reminds us that the logos, and Being, show some resistance, the result of which is to better inscribe aporia into his corpus. The limits of language, of religion, of knowledge, and of the artistic representation of reality resonate now with an everlasting and unanswered question.

Metaphor, Myth and Memory in Caribbean Literature : the Work of Fred D'Aguiar / Métaphore, Mythe et Mémoire dans la Littérature Caraïbe : l'Oeuvre de Fred D'Aguiar

Courbot, Leo 25 November 2016 (has links)
The present dissertation proposes a study of Fred D'Aguiar's complete verse and prose works, through the triple lens of myth, metaphor and memory, and from within a broad, inclusive, and cross-cultural understanding of Caribbean literature. Beginning with an exacerbation of metaphor's hypomnesic relationship to mythology and Western metaphysics, the argument expands to address issues such as that of the relationship between word and world, and elaborates a cross-cultural, and geographically-based understanding of metaphor as tropicality. Tropicality in turn gives the argument its thrust, as it allows, in the first half of the dissertation, for a singular reading of Fred D'Aguiar's entire verse corpus, which is also shown, in the process, to intersect with a vast body of literature, ranging from Roman antiquity to American-Caribbean magic(al) realism and from British romanticism to the philosophy of Jacques Derrida. The second half of this research work explores D'Aguiar's novels in terms of orphanhood, as all the protagonists of his six novels – itself a genre which, presenting itself as newness, denies filiation – are orphans. Divided in two chapters, the second half of this dissertation begins with a problematization of the links that relate textuality to orphanhood and orphanhood to slavery, but also slavery to literacy, in order to study Fred D'Aguiar's novelistic accounts of slavery. It then proposes a reflection on the supernatural, Orphic qualities of D'Aguiar's orphan characters, and of their relation to the environment, which leads, in turn, to reflections on the Orphic traditions pervading literary history, and opens up onto the ecocritical dimensions of contemporary literature, through the tentative coinage of the notion of vatic environmentalism.

A reading of Toni Morrison’s short story Recitatif through the theoretical perspective of deconstruction

Benczy, Sofia January 2024 (has links)
In this paper I’m studying Toni Morrison’s short story Recitatif (2022) through the perspective of deconstruction. I theorise about conceptual meanings and differences that occur and can be found in structures. With deconstruction I can observe where in the text traces of metaphysics lay and what impact they have on the characters that live within the story. The study examines binary oppositions such as white and black; male and female; being rich and being poor; being somebody and being nobody. Questions are raised about found meaning in these categories, what they entail and say about perception of reality, and how all of these categories fit into one much bigger classification: the human. This study follows the text closely, exploring the story in chronological order and focuses on the two main characters, Twyla and Roberta, who symbolise two different ends of the binary opposition white and black skinned. Twyla and Roberta come to define themselves by their contrasts and that is also where deconstruction flows and exists. In the end, it’s the character Maggie – first seen as ”unimportant” – that comes to play a crucial part in the shaping of the story and Twyla and Roberta’s lives. Therefore, through deconstruction and its terms and notions, I further investigate Maggie’s character and her meaning and place in Recitatif. This study concludes with that while binary oppositions – and the perceptions they comprise – are firmly established around the characters and the world so are they not fully bound by them.

Deconstruction of the UN Discourse on Transitional Justice : An Understanding of Justice and Reconciliation through Derrida’s Concepts

Lebedeva, Alexandra January 2016 (has links)
The present thesis seeks to problematize the UN discourse within transitional justice. Many scholars have pointed out that the discourse has been normalised and that is why it is in need for deconstruction. The study aims to critically analyse how justice and reconciliation are understood in the field. For the purpose of the study Derrida’s concepts on justice and forgiveness have been chosen as theoretical frameworks. The method of study is a deconstructive analysis, based on Derrida’s notion of deconstruction. The method implies analysis of language of the research material, i.e. four UN reports regarding transitional justice from 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The study has shown, firstly, that the rule of law concept is closely connected with the idea of justice and, secondly, justice is often reduced to accountability. That in turn explains the dominance of the juridical instruments in transitional justice processes. Apart from this, based on Derrida’s concept of forgiveness, reconciliation and mechanisms applied represent a conditional forgiveness, seeking to re-establish normality. Another problem is that reconciliation is not sufficiently approached in the reports. Nevertheless, the history of the transitional justice development has shown that there is a potential for further changes and that is why it necessary to continue question the established norms.   Finally, deconstruction analysis has proved to be an adequate method for analysing transitional justice discourses and contributed to a nuanced analysis. The use of two languages, English and Russian versions of the reports allowed to identify and visualise some conceptual constructions that could otherwise have been missing.

Aesthetics of Expenditure: Art, Philosophy, and the Infinite Faculty

Turpin, Stephen 01 September 2010 (has links)
The dissertation re-examines the philosophy of Georges Bataille within the context of post-Kantian aesthetics and argues for a re-evaluation of Bataille’s notion of expenditure [depenser] within this context. The dissertation argues further that the artistic practice of Robert Smithson is an exemplary case of an ‘aesthetics of expenditure.’ It is our contention that Bataille’s cosmic-energetic philosophy finds a complementary material expression in Smithson’s abstract geology and its confrontation with post-Kantian aesthetics. We will argue that this occurs through Smithson’s varying strategies, which are grouped conceptually according to the broader logic of their expression:seriality, sedimentality, monumentality, and meandering. While Smithson’s own references to Bataille in the early 1970s are discussed in detail, it is not our position that Smithson was enacting Bataille’s philosophy ‘aesthetically’; rather, by reading Bataille’s evaluation of Kant’s aesthetics and teleology in relation to Smithson’s artistic practice, we emphasize instead that the politics of disgust shared by both figures advance a radical decentring and repositioning of the human in relation to planetary and geological forces. If, as geologists now agree, our present age is that of the Anthropocene1, our argument is that Bataille and Smithson anticipate this precarious condition analytically, and, perhaps more importantly, that their analysis suggests further important diagnostic considerations at the level of social organization and political composition that might help defer, if not entirely prevent, the catastrophic end of this all-too-human period.
