Förbättring av monteringsstation för plockningsroboten IRB 360 FlexPicker

This thesis is about product and process development. The thesis has been done at ABB Robotics AB in Västerås under 20 weeks with half study pace, which is equivalent to 15 higher education credits (15hp). Thesis purpose was to improve an assembly station for assembling of robot IRB 360. Problems at the assembly station are that there are some non-value-creating activities and assembling methods which correspond to low safety factor for workers. The focus of thesis was to investigate opportunities and to produce solid proposals for how to eliminate these problems. After a written contract with ABB AB, the work started with the planning with the company supervisor and Gantt Schema was created to schedule all steps for this project, to ensure during the process. The project has followed the methods described in the book "Produktutveckling konstruktion och design " by Karl T Ulrich & Steven D Eppinger. Product development tools like Quality function deployment (QFD), functional analysis, specification of requirement and Pugh's analysis matrix have been used in the development process. In the first phase of the project, observation and investigation has been performed to identify and analyse problems. In the later phases, ideas and concepts has created to solve the problems and achieve successful results. The result of the project is an improved material flow at assembling stations which eliminates nonvalue-creating activities and leads to better safety for workers. Another result of the project is an elimination of hand hammering at assembling station and for this purpose a new pressing tool has been developed for pressing down a seals around radial shaft in assembling process. The software Solidworks has been used to create a new 3D layout for the existing assembly station to understand and find the better solution for material flow. Solidworks is also used for doing Finite element method (FEM) analysis to validate the new developed pressing tool. / Detta examensarbete handlar om produkt och processutveckling. Arbetet utfördes hos ABB Robotics AB i Västerås och bedrivs under 20 veckor långt på halvfart vilket motsvarar 15 högskolepoäng. Uppdraget är att förbättra en monteringsstation för plockningsrobot IRB360 FlexPicker. Problem på monteringsstation är att det sker icke värdeskapande aktiviteter, och monteringsprocess som leder till arbetsmiljöproblem. Arbetet fokus var att undersöka möjligheter och ta fram konkreta förslag att hur man kan eliminera dessa problem. Efter skriftligt kontrakt med ABB AB, arbetet började med planeringen med företaget handledare och skapades Gantt Schema. Projektet har följt metoderna som beskrivs i boken ”Produktutveckling konstruktion och design” av författare Karl T Ulrich & Steven D Eppinger. I utvecklingsprocessen har använt produktutvecklingsverktyg, några av dessa är QFD, funktionsanalys, kravspecifikation och Pughs analysmatris. I första fas av projekt gjorde undersökning och observation för att hitta och analysera problem. I senare faserna genererade koncepter för åtgärden och sedan vidare utvecklades utvalda koncept för nå framgångsrikt resultat. Resultatet av arbetet blev förbättrad materialflöde som eliminerar icke värdeskapande aktiviteter. Dessutom utvecklades fram ett nytt pressverktyg som eliminerar arbetsmiljöproblem. Mjukvaran Solidworks har använt för att skapa en ny layout för monteringsstation. Med hjälp av Solidworks gjordes FEM -analys (Finita elementmetoden) för att validera den nya pressverktyg

Credit risk measurement model for small and medium enterprises : the case of Zimbabwe

Abstracts in English, Zulu and Southern Sotho / The advent of Basel II Capital Accord has revolutionised credit risk measurement (CRM) to the extent that the once “perceived riskier bank assets” are now accommodated for lending. The Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector has been traditionally perceived as a riskier and unprofitable asset for lending activity by Commercial Banks, in particular. But empirical studies on the implementation of the Basel II internal-ratings-based (IRB) framework have demonstrated that SME credit risk is measurable. Banks are still finding it difficult to forecast SME loan default and to provide credit to the sector that meet Basel’s capital requirements. The thesis proposes to construct an empirical credit risk measurement (CRM) model, specifically for SMEs, to ameliorate the adverse effects of SME credit inaccessibility due to high information asymmetry between financial institutions (FI) and SMEs in Zimbabwe. A well-performing and accurate CRM helps FIs to control their risk exposure through selective granting of credit based on a thorough statistical analysis of historical customer data. This thesis develops a CRM model, built on a statistically random sample, known-good-bad (KGB) sample, which is a better representation of the through-the-door (TTD) population of SME loan applicants. The KGB sample incorporates both accepted and rejected applications, through reject inference (RI). A model-based bound and collapse (BC) reject inference methodology was empirically used to correct selectivity bias inherent in CRM domain. The results have shown great improvement in the classification power and aggregate supply of credit supply to the SME portfolio of the case-studied bank, as evidenced by substantial decrease of bad rates across models developed; from the preliminary model to final model designed for the case-studied bank. The final model was validated using both bad rate, confusion matrix metrics and Area under Receiver Operating Characteristic (AUROC) curve to assess the classification power of the model within-sample and out-of-sample. The AUROC for the final model (weak model) was found to be 0.9782 whilst bad rate was found to be 14.69%. 對金融機構而言, 壓力測試是辨識及評估金融機構發生極端事件或最糟情境下可能損失來源的風險管理方法。 國際清算銀行全球金融體系委員會 (BIS Committeeon the Global Financial System) 則將壓力測試定義為 「金融機構衡量潛在但可能 (plausible) 發生異常 (exceptional) 損失的模型」。而對監理機關來說, 壓力測試也是總體審慎分析 (macro-prudential analysis) 的一環。 總體審慎分析係利用金融體系提供的定量資訊 (quantitative information)、 及制度面與管理面提供的定性資訊 (qualitative information)。 它包括金融市場的監控及總體面與金融面的鏈結分析。 其亦為廣義的總體經濟脆弱性評估架構的一部分。 本文針對我國銀行授信資產部位, 嘗試為監理單位提供一套可實行的壓力測試方法。 結合信用風險模型 CreditPortfolioView(CPV) 以及Basel II 中信用風險資本計提的內部評等法(Internal Rating-Based Approach; IRB), 投入適當的總體經濟因子, 並透過總體因子的調整構成壓力情境 (stress scenario), 在體系內銀行皆依法計提資本和提列備抵呆帳的前提下, 檢視銀行法定資本 (regulatory capital) 的變化, 以及透過資本適足性檢視各銀行的承受能力。 在參考 1997 亞洲金融風暴以及2000 年末.com 泡沫時我國經濟情況所建立的假設性壓力情境下, 我國銀行僅有兩間達須被主管機關糾正或接管的範圍。

Seguro de riscos de engenharia: instrumento do desenvolvimento / Engineering risks insurance: an instrument for development

O objetivo deste trabalho é examinar o seguro de riscos de engenharia como instrumento para o desenvolvimento. A perspectiva adotada é a da articulação entre direito e economia política: parte-se da ideia de que as categorias jurídicas instauram determinada economia política. Nesse sentido, os contratos de seguro serão entendidos de forma indissociada das operações comunitárias em que se encerram e de sua especial tarefa de reorganização social e econômica. A função social dos contratos de seguro é revelada como conteúdo obrigatório da própria autonomia da vontade atinente a esses contratos. A relação entre seguro e desenvolvimento é ainda mais evidente nos seguros de risco de engenharia, objeto específico deste trabalho. Institucionalizada desde a década de 1930, a função desenvolvimentista desses seguros tem seu declínio a partir dos anos 1970 com nítida agravação no ano de 2007, quando ocorre a abertura do mercado brasileiro de resseguro. Defende-se a tese de que a legislação brasileira sobre seguro de risco de engenharia é inadequada, atuando de forma impeditiva do desenvolvimento nacional. A principal razão para isso está na perda paulatina de conteúdo desses seguros, em parte promovida pelo próprio Estado, capturado pelos interesses dos empresários do setor. A tentativa de anulação da teoria do interesse consagrada não só na longeva praxe dos seguros, como pela doutrina nacional e estrangeira e plasmada no art. 757 do Código Civil, é um dos principais argumentos explorados. Por fim, são apresentados dispositivos do Projeto de Lei do Senado n. 477/2013, que procura trazer para o sistema de direito positivo a primeira lei de contrato de seguro da história brasileira, com o objetivo de reordenar as relações contratuais, eliminando as principais práticas desfuncionalizadoras e em busca dos escopos fixados na Constituição de 1988. / The aim of this study is to examine engineering risk insurance as an instrument of development. The perspective adopted here is an articulation between Law and Political Economy, beginning with the idea that legal categories determine political economy. In this sense, insurance contracts are construed as non-dissociated from the community operations to which they belong and from their special task of social and economic reorganization. The social function of insurance contracts is seen as an inexorable part of the autonomous will involved in such contracts. The relationship between insurance and development is even more evident in engineering risk insurance, which is the specific object of this study. Having been institutionalized since the 1930s, the developmental function of this type insurance began to decline in the mid-1980s, and clearly worsened in 2007, when the Brazilian reinsurance market was opened. We propose that the Brazilian legislation on engineering risk insurance is inadequate and acts as an impediment to national development. The main reason for this is the gradual loss of content in this type of insurance, in part promoted by the State itself, captive to the interests of industry executives. The attempt to nullify the theory of interest well established not only in longstanding insurance practice, but also in national and international tenets, and shaped by Article 757 of the Brazilian Civil Code is one of the main arguments explored here. Finally, we present some provisions of Senate Bill no. 477/2013 that seeks to incorporate into the system of positive law Brazils first law of insurance contract, the aim of which is to reorder contractual relations by eliminating the major defunctionalizing practices, in keeping with the intentions of the 1988 Constitution.

Robot Condition Monitoring and Production Simulation

The automated industry is in a growing phase and the human tasks is increasingly replaced by robots and other automation solutions. The increasing industry entails that the automations must be reliable and condition monitoring plays an important role in achieving that ambition. By utilizing condition monitoring of a machine it is possible to detect a wear before it turns into a critical damage that could result in complete failure. A useful tool when monitoring the condition of a machine is by sampling and analyzing vibrations. Vibrations are generated by the moving parts of the machinery and high amplitude vibrations can often be seen as an indication of the developed faults. The frequency of these vibrations can be calculated and then detected in the sampled data. Today there is no condition monitoring system that monitor industrial robots by analyzing vibrations. The problem with analyzing robots, is that they operate with a varying speed. Since the running conditions are changing rapidly all the time, this means that the vibration frequencies also changes constantly. This is due to the fact that the vibration frequencies are dependent and affected of the operation speed. This research is a sequel and continuation of a research from previous year. The purpose of the research is to investigate the possibility to monitor the condition of a gearbox in a industrial robot, by utilizing vibration analysis. The robot that has been tested under tuff conditions in order to reach a failure, is an ABB IRB 6600. To sample data in a stationary way even tough the speed is changing during the sample time, the method order tracking has been utilized. This makes it possible to sample data with numbers of measurement per rotation instead of sampling according to time. This is processed by SKF:s condition monitoring system multilog IMx and the signal is then presented as a time waveform in the software @ptitude Observer. In Observer, it is also possible to show the signal in a spectrum by using Fast Fourier Transform. By utilizing MATLAB, the research has also resulted in a new analyzing method. This method is called Spectral Auto-Correlation. The methodology of this practice is to correlated the time waveform with itself in order to see which frequencies that are reappearing. The correlated result is then calculated with a Fast Fourier Transform to illustrate the signal in a spectrum for further analysis. During the analysis of the parts in the gearbox, critical defects were found on both the cycloidal disks. The fault frequency for the defects were calculated and analyzed from the data. This resulted in trends where the amplitude from the fault frequency had more than doubled over the time the robot has been operating in the project. This report also include a production simulation where a robot cell from SKF is simulated. The robot cell is simulated with and without a condition monitoring system. A comparison was then made to see what advantages there were with utilizing a condition monitoring system. The result of the simulation was an increased productivity with two to three percent.

Effektivisering av paketeringslinje

Detta examensarbete har gjorts direkt mot båda författarnas inriktning inommaskiningenjörsprogrammet. Inriktningen är produktionsutveckling ochexamensarbetet har inneburit utveckling av ett paketeringssystem från grundenbaserat på ett enklare befintligt system. Det nuvarande systemet som finns påKvibilles mejeri har föråldrad utrustning och dålig kapacitet, vilket mejeriet villeförbättra. Projektet har gett författarna möjlighet att testa och utvidga sina kunskaperinom sitt utbildningsområde. Det som utförts i projektet har inneburit mycket informationssökande, teorin bakominnefattar bl.a. produktionssystem, arbetsplatsergonomi, modeller förproduktionsutveckling, direktiv, regler och utvärderingsmetoder samt givetvis dataom de maskiner och den utrustning som varit intressant för projektet. Det harförutom informationssökning inneburit kontakt med en rad olika maskinleverantörerför att få information och priser. Metodiken som används bestämdes under projektets förstudie, metoden är utveckladav Bellgran & Säfsten (2005) och är en ren produktionsutvecklingsmetod. Metodenhar följts till de delar som varit intressanta och vissa delar såsom driftsättning harförbisetts då resultatet av projektet inte realiserats. Metoden innebar bl.a. en studie avnuvarande och liknande produktionssystem samt intervjuer med dess operatörer. Projektets gång ledde till ett antal koncept för en helt ny paketeringslinje som inte harmånga likheter med den nuvarande linjen och dess arbetssätt. Författarna är mycketnöjda med det resulterande slutgiltiga konceptet och de fördelar konceptet innebärsom är av både teknisk och ekonomisk karaktär. Huvudresultaten inkluderar 50%ökad kapacitet och minskade manuella tunga moment som lett till minskat behov avoperatörer. / This thesis is in line with the two author’s orientation within the mechanicalengineering program. The orientation is production development and the project hasbeen to develop a new packaging line based on a simple existing one. The existingsystem is located in a dairy plant and have old equipment and low capacity which theplant want to improve. The project has given the authors opportunity to use andwiden their knowledge within their area of education.The project includes a lot of research, the theory behind the project is amongst otherthings; production systems, evaluation systems, work ergonomics, models forproduction development, directives, rules and data for the machines and equipmentneeded for the project. Contact has been made with several machine suppliers to findinformation and to get prices. The method used was decided during the projects background study, the method isdeveloped by Bellgran & Säften (2005) and is a method designed purely forproduction development. Only applicable parts of the method has been used whichmeans that some parts where left out such as the part for deployment since theproject won’t be realized as of now. The method included a study of the currentsystem and similar production systems as well as interviews with the staff. This project has led to a number of concepts for a new production system that worksvery different compared to the old system. The authors are very pleased with theresulting new final concept and the improvements it lead to which is technical andeconomical. The main results is 50% improved capacity and reduced heavy manualtasks which has resulted in less need of line operators.
