Videoinnehåll i fokus : En studie om hur videoklipp kan påverka användbarheten på en matwebbplats / Video content in focus : A study on how video clip can affect usability on a food website

Olsson, Angelica January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate in which manner a video clip can influence the usability on a website. The website that is used is a prototype of a food website from the business Hypefoodsweden (HFS). The problem is to investigate if video clips are an important improvement for the user experience on the website. By using a qualitative method, which in this case was an observation with interview questions, findings show that how the users perceives the usability and multimodality on the website. With data gathered by the method, I could summarize a result and an analyse to be used to drive discussions and obtain conclusions.

Google Translate och dess påverkan på webbplatser : En undersökning av användbarhet och tillgänglighet för Google Translate som maskinöversättning på webbplatser / Google Translate and its impact on websites

Melki, Jessica, Kouthoofd-Lans, Mischa January 2018 (has links)
Google Translate helps people around the world to translate from one language to another, and translates about 100 billion words every day. The translation is used for all types of information, for essays, on websites, social media or for every day communication. Companies and organizations can reach people all over the world by offering machine translation on their websites. This means that companies and organizations can spread their messages and their products to a much larger group of people. However, in order for the information to be correct, there must be an availability regardless of language. It is therefore interesting to find out if the usefulness of Google Translate as machine translation can affect the availability of websites. The purpose of the study is to find out if Google Translate as machine translation can affect a website's usefulness in translating the information provided by the website. The purpose of the study is limited by merely examining in what ways the usability and availability of the information "About Us" on government and municipal websites is affected by Google Translate as machine translation. The method used in the study is usability tests where a think aloud observation was conducted with study participants who tested the websites using task scenarios. The result of our study showed that Google Translate is useful as machine translation on websites. In conclusion, however, we discussed whether the results could have been affected due to the delimitations we made, such as language selection, websites and method.

Jakten på identiteten : En diskursanalytisk studie i hur Göteborgs stadsbibliotek konstruerar sig i offentligheten / The search for an identity : A discourse analytical study of how Göteborg city library constructs itself in the public sphere.

Rutgersson, Niklas January 2018 (has links)
The institutional identity of libraries have been the subject of discussion for quite some time in the library community. With the renovation of several city libraries comes the opportunity to investigate the impact of this discussion on the practices of real public libraries. This Bachelor thesis investigates the program guide of Göteborg city library since its reopening in 2014 with the goal of extracting some sort of library identity. The thesis uses a discourse analytical approach to investigate the various types of discourse present in the material to extract an identity. The most prominent discourses present in the material are the educational discourse and the discourse of cultivation where the discourse of cultivation is the most dominant one. The discourse of cultivation motivates its activities through recreational aspects while the discourse of education motivates its activities by highlighting the use-value of attending its activities. The study finds that Göteborg city library presents itself as a cultural institution that ―sells‖ the service of cultivation, this is, however, not without problems and occasionally clashes with either the missions given to the library or the perceptions of the public.

Time to Open the Black Box : Explaining the Predictions of Text Classification

Löfström, Helena January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis has been to evaluate if a new instance based explanation method, called Automatic Instance Text Classification Explanator (AITCE), could provide researchers with insights about the predictions of automatic text classification and decision support about documents requiring human classification. Making it possible for researchers, that normally use manual classification, to cut time and money in their research, with the maintained quality. In the study, AITCE was implemented and applied to the predictions of a black box classifier. The evaluation was performed at two levels: at instance level, where a group of 3 senior researchers, that use human classification in their research, evaluated the results from AITCE from an expert view; and at model level, where a group of 24 non experts evaluated the characteristics of the classes. The evaluations indicate that AITCE produces insights about which words that most strongly affect the prediction. The research also suggests that the quality of an automatic text classification may increase through an interaction between the user and the classifier in situations with unsure predictions.

Liliequist, Tove January 2017 (has links)

Barnens bibliotek : en kvalitativ studie om barns kunskapsorganisation / Children’s library : a qualitative study of knowledge organization

Huss, Jessica, Wållberg, Moa January 2017 (has links)

Som ett vildvuxet träd : en diskursanalys av begreppet biblioterapi / Like an untamed tree : a discourse analysis of the term bibliotherapy

Källvik, Gustaf January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this discourse study has been to analyse how the concept of bibliotherapy in connection with hospital librarians’ work is presented in theses written in the field of library and information science. The theory is based on the work of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. The main picture presented is that bibliotherapy is difficult to define. Most of the hospital librarians have heard about bibliotherapy, and they strongly believe in the concept. At the same time, the respondents are hesitant to label their work ‘bibliotherapy’. Biblio-therapy is presented in the research mainly as a practice. Among hospital librarians, bibliotherapy is associated with the reading of fiction. There is no consensus among them on how to define the term. A number of descriptions of how bibliotherapy can help patients with mental issues, bring joy and even save lives are mentioned, but no hard evidence is presented for this. Two central subject positions are discussed in this study. Hospital librarians are described as a group who need to claim their rights in the large hospital organisation. At the same time they are seen as a highly competent and reliable resource. The patient is scarcely represented in the empirical material.

Photography in Swedish Memory Institutions : Convergence, Digitization, and the Difficulties of Defining Images

Pierce, Rachel January 2018 (has links)
This study examines how photographic material has been classified and contextualized on the digitization platforms of the major Swedish memory institutions – the National Library of Sweden, the National Archives of Sweden, and the Nordic Museum. Combined with a series of interviews with digitization practitioners at these institutions, the paper examines the cultural-historical approach to defining the concept “photography” and classifying digitized photographs, as well as how photographic material is treated similarly to or differently from other kinds of material housed at these institutions. These results of this question are used to examine the likelihood that, driven by similarities in digitization practices, significant differences between Swedish libraries, archives, and museums are disappearing.

To keep the profession of librarians relevant in a changing world. : A qualitative study of school librarians’ external monitoring and cooperation and collaboration.

Baric, Maria, Nilsson, Lotta January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to examine school librarians’ external monitoring and cooperation and collaboration with teachers, in order to describe it and examine its significance for the relevance to the profession of librarians. The purpose was also to interpret the meaning of the external monitoring, cooperation and collaboration from a professional perspective. For this we used semi structured interviews and qualitative content analysis. The analysis was based on theory on professions (Nolin, 2008) about lifelong vocational training, cooperation and collaboration. The profession perspective explains problems, difficulties and opportunities that can be seen in school librarians external monitoring and when professions cooperate and collaborate. Our conclusion is that external monitoring is part of the lifelong vocational training and can be seen as a strategy together with cooperation and collaboration with teachers to strengthen, develop and change school librarians knowledge and jurisdiction. The study shows that external monitoring is dependent on cooperation and collaboration with teachers and the other way around. Depending on how developed these strategies are, this will affect both their influence on school library practice and the profession.

Asplund, Jan January 2017 (has links)
Authenticity and integrity of digital information have been discussed extensively within the record management and archival sectors for several decades. The on-going projects and research in the area have resulted in an understanding of the potential problems when it comes to keeping authenticity in digital information. In recent years the blockchain technologies have gained attention as a potential solution to many of the problems associated with management and storage of digital records. The area of information security is getting more and more focused on preventing manipulation of existing data. The conclusions here is that blockchain technologies have potential to solve several problems associated with the management and storage of digital records. The archival sector can benefit from the use of blockchains to prevent time consuming and expensive work efforts to re-establish authenticity in digital information ones lost.
